  1. I've done a bit of animation myself, having spend a fairly unsucessful year in art collage ( very traditional art school that has no idea that annomout or work animaltion takes ! ) So i know how it can be addicting to keep working on animated projects, so how about you set aside time for each hobby ?

You will get through your animated projects slower, but will be able to keep up with your other hobbies. I'm assuming you're still going 9 - 3:30 at school ( or at least those where my school hours) so maybe you spend a few afternoons doing music, and your toher hobbies while keeping a weekend day for animation ?

That's pretty logical actually, I think I might do that instead, except the other way around (animation on the weekdays and music on weekends). Sadly, I didn't even think of splitting throughout the entire week, I was thinking day to day basis. I'll give that a try then, although I know I'm gonna eventually break the rules.

  2. You shouldn't throw that decision on the shoulders of "strangers".

After all it is you who knows best how much time you have, how you can manage it. It'll be you who'll pick the decision in the end.

It severely depends on how strong you feel in animations. If they're intuitive, it shouldn't be a problem to keep both. Otherwise, you might want to wonder how you were, are, and if you'll be able to maintain both activities.

I'm only asking for opinions here, that doesn't exactly mean I'll actually make a change.

the reason I'm asking is because history has proven that I generally do things wrong, and when I do things wrong... well, things... blow up.

If you enjoy both, do both. You don't have a deadline for either, so enjoy them however or whenever you want!

actually this is more of a time management thing, I do have deadlines to keep up with (I'm in a couple projects where I'm an animator/vector artist) I don't have any in music right now though.

  3. So, I have multiple hobbies unfortunately the two I like to do the most are the most time consuming. I'm animator and a musician, animating takes me a while because I do frame by frame and I'm a perfectionist, and I'm catching myself making music more. I'm in a couple projects where I'm doing animation in and I plan to study animation in college anyway, however music seems much less time consuming and I get the end result much sooner (which motivates me to do more).

I'm thinking I should put my music aside except for projects I'm hired in and focus my energy on animation but I'm gonna hate not working on music...

so really the question is, which is more important? Should I focus on animation? Or should I enjoy my music hobby while I'm still in highschool?

    (I'm not BlackGryph0n, I can't do both)

  4. Disclaimer: The above is someone's personal preference.

As I've said, do your own experimenting. You might want to start with a simple kick drum then lay a bass line and work from there. Don't EVER set yourself to someone else's way of working.

Same with programs. Try several different ones or just work with what you've got. Eventually you'll find something comfortable.

Don't ever let anyone tell you to always do something in particular. Once again, they're just stating their own personal preference.

If you follow a recipe you'll end up with the same things as other people.

That's true, that's just my method of madness

  5. If you're planning to go the route of FL studio start with LMMS, it's a free program and loads many sound fonts and comes with plenty of sounds to get you started. If you end up liking it I would advise you get FL studio, you can load vsti programs like massive or FM8. Look up drum samples on forums or websites. Word of advice though, worry about about your melody and rhythm first, the sounds don't matter so much at the very beginning you can add effects and change the sound of your bass and synth later. Always organize your work, don't slop it together, otherwise it'll take you longer to figure out what you're doing than you'll want. Last and not least, effects on everything. Bass, drums, synth, everything except for samples with effects already on them I don't like to use those though. You always want "dry" vocals (vocals without effects) and little to no backing vocals. The last thing I'm going to say is make sure your track has a good balance, equalizing works wonders.

  6. I kinda have to rewrite the lyrics because they're not exactly G-rated. The original lyrics were featured in my 3rd fic, which also isn't exactly g-rated. And the song itself is part of a project that I started with the same fic. I was (and still am) going to write an original track that exhibits the tone of each chapter.

    Okay, I can wait :)

  7. Bridge?oh i'm sorry It's just I'm new to this stuff and I do think I have too much of the chorus on each song(considering those are the only lines I mezmerized).

okay, most songs follow this pattern: Intro(if it has one), Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Bridge, and then a strong ending chorus usually played two times. Some people use different patterns but it's rare to hear a song with a different pattern in the top 40 or something like that (I don't think Skrillex or metal bands follow that pattern). you could try merging the verses (if they work like that) or rewrite the verses so they are twice as long as they currently are. that way people won't be sick of the chorus by the end of the song :)

that's why so many people hate "Chocolate Rain" it's one verse played repetitively, the same chords and same melody made it really annoying.

Me either...but if that's what he wants :)

I pretty much live around horses/ponies and I've never seen any in a relationship with the same gender. If they feel that way about another, I wouldn't know, They usually don't talk to me about those kind of things.

  8. I do not have a tune and I need a guys voice.FYI. Next time I get on I will put them on. And I like Danny's idea.It is your idea to put the toon.Just wait.

Wait... What's my idea? also, the lyrics kinda threw me off when it says chorus is that returning to the chorus? or is it a new chorus?

I'm sorry, I'm big on asking a bunch of questions

  9. Sorry, I don't know why I ignored the little box...

-What I want to be: I can draw vectors and do some animation. (I can also do some music)

-I have been working in another project, I'll share a link to that with you once I'm done with it. for now I have this:

    http://www.newground...493fdccb2c18c6e

I also have walking and running cycles but I didn't bother adding those because they're just cycles.

(for a music sample listen to http://www.newground...o/listen/473434 there's a wide variety of music in it so listen to the whole thing, I also do acoustic stuff but I don't record my acoustic work often.)

  10. hmmm... I wouldn't tell people I'm a brony unless they were to ask, even though I'm always slipping random references in class.

People will eventually find out about it though, By the time I put together a portfolio (or whatever) it'll be loaded with ponies.
