  1. Hi guys, just thought I'd do a little self promotion by inviting everyone to have a look at my first fimfiction story. Title: This City by the Bay: A Mare's Story Themes: Slice of life, Romance Summary: Five years have passed since the portal between Equestria and Earth first opened. Now, what once was two has now become one, where the sight of ponies and humans living side by side has now become commonplace; and trade and tourism between the two worlds flourishes with each passing day. While enjoying a holiday in the Earth city of San Francisco, a spirited mare soon finds her whole world has been turned upside-down after crossing paths with an equally spirited human. A story of an unconventional love that blossomed from an unexpected friendship. http://www.fimfiction.net/story/84648/this-city-by-the-bay-a-mares-story Thanks guys!
  2. Or at least what he would have looked like had China Mieville designed him.
  3. I've been reading one of my favorite books for what I now think is the fourth time and while reading a certain passage I found an interesting description of one of the book's antagonists that I thought some of you might find interesting. Have a read and tell me if it reminds you of someone familiar. Scraps of skin and fur and feathers swung as he moved; tiny limbs clutched; eyes rolled from obscure niches; antlers and protrusions of bone jutted precariously; feelers twitched and mouths glistened. Many coloured skeins of skin collided. A cloven hoof thumped gently against the wood floor. Tides of flesh washed against each other in violent currents. Muscles tethered by alien tendons to alien bones worked together in uneasy truce, in slow, tense motion. Scales gleamed. Fins quivered. Wings fluttered brokenly. Insect claws folded and unfolded. "So," he said from one of the grinning human mouths. "which do you think is my best side?" Passage taken from: Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
  4. I really enjoyed this episode. Even though the basic plot structure was pretty much based on two classic scenarios that are older than time itself (taking on too many responsibilities single-handedly and the ever classic get rich quick scenario) the writers have managed to present it in such a way that the story still seems fresh and engaging. For me personally, I think one of the major highlights of this episode was how the pets interacted with one another. For a while I though that it couldn't get better than Owlicious giving Angle-Bunny his own version of 'the stare', reminding both the ill-humored bunny and the audience of that little thing called the 'food chain'. At least that was until I saw the slap-and-snuggle scene between Tank and Opal, demonstrating once again that Rarity's fluffy little companion is My Little Pony's equivalent to Batman's Two-Face. And of course one cannot ignore the brilliantly random inclusion of the industrial strength hair dryer! Seriously folks, where do those three fillies get those wonderful toys?
  5. The only thing I think I'm going to be disappointed by is how short the season will be. Compared to the 26 episodes the last two seasons each had, 13 just seams a bit light. What's more according to an article on Equestria Daily, the decision to make season 3 only 13 episodes long was made for the sake of profits and cutting production costs. It seems that the executives at Hasbro are convinced that younger viewers will be just as content to watch reruns and won't mind having less new episodes.
  6. While the inclusion of a seventh member to the group is pretty unlikely, anything is possible, considering Hasbro's ongoing reputation of shoehorning new characters into their t.v. series for the sole purpose of product advertisement.
  7. Anyone else feel like they've seen this before? Maybe remind you of an old commercial from the 90s?
  8. Hi there! I know this may seem like a dumb question, but how does one go about embedding youtube videos on these forums? I feel like I've tried everything, but all I end up with is a long url code like the ones bellow. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Zr7ifedhC1U?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> v=Zr7ifedhC1U I've looked at a bunch of tutorials and none of their methods seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Awesomly Awesome way to close out the second season! The perfect combination of epic and lighthearted. I was sort of dissapointed that Luna only got a few seconds of screen time, but all in all, those few seconds were a welcome addition. The only thing that would have made the wedding crash scene complete was if they had made a refference to 'The Graduate', where Dustin Hoffman's character arives at the church at the very last minute and slams his hands against the window. But oh well. Something else I just thought about. The beggining of Season 2 introduced a villain heavily influenced by Star Trek's Q, a devious god-like entity who uses his powers to make the lives of others difficult in not downright misserable. The end of Season 2 introduced a manevolant race of shape-shifting entities called 'Chaglings' who attempt to conquer Equestria by taking the place of a member of the royal family. Anyone else reminded of the changlings from Star Trek Deep Space 9.
  10. 1. Sleep in 'till late afternoon. 2. Check to see if the episodes have been uploaded (I don't get the Hub either ) 3. Head on down to the local italian bakery and load up on canolis. 4. Sit back and prepare for an hour of sweet sweet bliss. 5. Fall into a deep of depression until the next season airs.
  11. CAUTION cuteness overload P.S. could someone tell me how to embed youtube files on this site?
  12. Hmmmmm..... You guys raise some pretty good points. I guess I just haven't seen this particular plot used that often.
  13. Thanks guys! Glad to be a part of all the fun!
  14. I just got finished watching 'Swarm of the Century' for a second time. Anyone else notice a few similarities the episode had with the movie 'Gremlins'? 1. A cute (seemingly harmless) creature is brought home as a pet. 2. Only one person is aware of the creature's true nature and the possible chaos its presence may cause. 3. The creature manages to rapidly reproduce asexually 4. Giving it food only makes matters worse. 5. By the end, the entire town is completely overrun by a insanely huge number of the creatures. Actually now that I think about it....... this episode also reminds me of the Tribbles episode from Star Trek. What do you guys think?
  15. I assume you're referring to the video from collegehumor.com I guess it couldn't hurt to post it here. It is one of those videos that will either leave you in a fit of laughter or a fit of rage. I personally found it to be one of the most humorous videos I've ever seen. http://www.collegehu...my-little-brony
  16. About Myself: Bay Area college student studying video game development How I found Canterlot.com: did a google search How I became a fan of MLP:FiM: a hilarious little video on collegehumor.com. Seriously that's what started all of this My favourite main cast pony/s: Rainbow Dash,Pinkamina Diane Pie Hi guys. It's probably been said countless times before, but I honestly never thought I'd be calling myself a fan of My Little Pony. I remember as a kid growing up in the 90's my friends and I would all but evacuate the living room the moment we so much as caught a glimpse of a commercial for the toys. Funny how things ultimately work out in the end. Quite honestly I never pictured myself liking a show like this. I typically watch shows like Boston Legal, or Deadwood, Sopranos and Carnivale. Who would've thought I'd eventually come to enjoy the antics of six animated equines? But wouldn't you know it, after watching the first episode I was genuinely hooked and found myself enjoying the series on the same level as some of the others I had mentioned above. As the series continues, I look forward to sharing my thoughts with the rest of you guys.
