Midnight turned her head to the burning smell to see the jungle trees alight. "We have to get on the ground!" Midnight shouted before teleporting to the ground, she looked up and saw val was flying down. As he landed on the ground Midnight pointed her hoof in the opposite direction of the fire. "Come on!" She shouted before running into the jungle, Fireballs were being thrown at Midnight and Val, as she was galloping Midnight looked back to see the fire was coming from a sort of...object? A fireball brought her back to the task at hoof and continued to gallop faster.

Midnight Read was currently waiting for Silver Mint's return. She was about to go galloping in her self but that was until she heard the voice. "Help me, please..." Midnight turned her to where the voice came from, she trotted forward a little bit noticing it was a foals voice, "Please help, I'm lost..." Midnight looked behind her to where the other ponies had gone. She turned her head back to where the foals voice came from and lit up her horn adding some more brightness into the room. She began to gallop in the direction of the voice lighting up the pathway as she galloped. She would stop every so often hearing more cries of help from the voice and made sure she was going in the right direction while shouting at the top of her voice, "Don't worry! I'm coming!"

Midnight ducked behind the tree watching the stampede of creatures. Her mouth was open with shock at the site. She stood there going through the options. Midnight looked above her head. The tall jungle trees supported thick branches which was thick enough for both herself and Val to sit on and think about their options. Midnight looked up and smiled at the gamemakers who was most probably watching. She had to admit, they did have everything thought out. "Val..." She whispered, as he tore his gaze away from he stampede Midnight pointed her hoof to the branch, hinting for him to fly up there. Midnight prepared her self to construct a simple teleportation spell while Val was flying up the branch.

Midnight fell into the bushes and saw that Val was battling all of the ponies. Midnight saw each and everyone of the ponies faces and could name every single one. A bulky pony saw her in the bushes and was about to run towards her, before she could think about what she was doing she pulled out her bow and arrow and released it. The stallion who was charging towards her fell to the ground, she had hit him in the leg so he wouldn't die from it. Midnight leaped out of the bushes joining Val in his battle. "So, whats our plan now?" She said cheerfully trying to keep calm while bucking at the on coming ponies,

The nest burst open and as the contents of the nest first saw the group of ponies they headed straight for them. Midnight could hear screams of terror from the ponies she looked back and saw that some of the ponies had fallen to the ground. She suddenly stopped in her tracks as she noticed one of the ponies was holding a bow and quiver. She started to run back to the group of ponies. She ran up to the pony with the weapon. She looked around, the other ponies were no-where to be seen. She lifted up the bow from the pony's hooves and put the quiver on. She ran back to Val. "I'm not really sure if our campsite is safe anymore but we can check," She said while she ran through the jungle,

Midnight was about to say she will go with him but before she could open her mouth he was already gone. Midnight sighed she hated being left behind, she began to look around at the dusty bookshelves. She turned to the path that was lit by the red touches. 'How long as he been gone? Has it already been two minutes?' She thought to herself,

Midnight saw Val was ready to fight the ponies, but Midnight knew they would lose. 'If we fight them we are sure to die,' She thought to herself, she looked up at the tall jungle trees and saw their was a large nest hanging by the branch, 'Tracker Jackers' She thought, remembering them from the book, Suddenly without thinking Midnight started to kick the tree trying to make the nest fall down, everytime she would kick at the tree the nest would began to break away from the branch. She looked at Val who was staring at her confused, "Help me knock the nest down!" She shouted at him with panic in her voice, "As soon as it falls run!"

Midnight followed Val her hoof in his, she felt bushes and leaves brush by her as the began to speed through the jungle, As she continued the gallop through the jungle she spotted a group of ponies in the far distance, A bulky one with a blonde mane turned his head towards Midnight and Val. And ordered the other ponies to follow him as he ran towards her and Val. Midnight couldn't move, her mouth was open with shock, she couldn't believe she was actually seeing him.

"It must be amazing to meet so many friends from different places, I only have friends from Canterlot," Midnight said, Jumped back as zebras surrounded them both, "This isn't possible," She began to say, "This is an arena, only animals and mutations..." She said as she spotted each and everyone of the zebras had bright green eyes, Midnight scanned the area for an escape...

"I do hope you'll be able to find all that you're looking for down here, but... understand that knowledge doesn't come free... I expect something from each of you in order to get the information you desire... Let me start you off down the correct path..." Midnight turned her head to find the pony who had brought them to this strange place. Midnight watched as a pony ran down the path of the torches. "Who in the name of Celestia was that?" Midnight asked, What did the mysterious voice mean? 'Something from each of you'? What would they have to give up? Millions of questions raced around in Midnight's mind.

Midnight opened her eyes to darkness. She rubbed her eyes but suddenly the room lit up. She heard voices of other ponies nearby giving her relief she was not alone. Midnight saw he stallion she had met in the library was heading towards her. "Are you alright, miss..." "Midnight Read," She replied finishing his sentence, she got up and looked around at her dim surroundings, "Where are we?" ​She asked confused

Midnight wiped her cheek with her hoof. "Yeah, I'm fine," She said smiling at Val, as she stood up and took another look at the majestic bird which was still staring at her with those wise eyes and continued down the river, "So, other than adventures what else do you do? Any friends? Family?" Midnight asked him trying to make conversation,

Midnight smiled, "Yeah they kinda are," Midnight said. Deep in the jungle you could hear distant whistles from the other Mockingjay's in the area. Midnight smiled as a tear fell down her cheek.

Midnight laughed lightly, "I wish they was, It's a Mockingjay, it's another Mutation the people from this book made, if you sing or whistle anything to it and it enjoys the sound it will repeat it." Midnight whistled a 4-note tune and shortly after, the bird repeated it, "It's what the main character known for, she is known as the Mockingjay because she wears a golden Mockingjay pin in the Pony Games," Midnight said explaining while visions of what this bird is known for flashed through her mind,

"Well, it's what she does after the games that starts off a rebellion..." Midnight said trying not to give anything away so the gamemakers could figure out the plan she had thought of that just might work... Midnight looked away from the stream and stared into the jungle, she let out a small gasp as she realized what she was staring at. A rather large bird with feathers as dark as the night sky was sitting on a branch of the tree staring at Midnight. She stood up slowly smiling at the bird as if greeting an old friend.

Midnight stopped and sighed. She sat near the edge of the river and began to explain: "Well, every year one colt and one mare from each...district...are picked out from random to be put into the Pony Games, and like I said there can only be one winner...And well the gamemakers just control the game they don't really do it for the entertainment, it's the main city that really enjoys the show, that's why the main character creates rebellion in the book." She said trying to avoid Val's eyes,

'Come find the secrets of Equestria...' The last sentence of the message echoed in Midnight's head. Secrets? What secrets would Princess Celestia and Luna keep away from everypony? Midnight was snapped out of her thoughts as a large bright light shined into her eyes. "Discover what you came here for." A faint voice said, Midnight was about to ask if anypony had heard that but gasped as she felt her self being lifted into the air. Before she could question the reason she was being lifted into the air she heard the sound of a teleportation spell and was no longer in Canterlot Library...

10. 10 Ponies were left including herself and Val. Midnight noticed that Val had asked her something, "Hmm? Oh, it's just showing who is out of the games," Midnight stared at the sky her eyes adjusting to the light, "The gamemakers must be getting bored of just seeing everypony waiting for dawn to come," She said, Midnight looked at her surroundings just dying to be explored, "You can rest if you like," She said tilting her head towards the cave, there wasn't much of the night and he might be tired, "I'm just going to check out this place," She said before trotting away,

Midnight blushed, "Thanks, your cool to." She said giggling, "The way your able to go head first into danger...I could never do anything like that..." She said while looking out of the cave, Suddenly, loud music started playing and a projection of letters came across the sky reading 'The Fallen' Midnight walked outside and looked up at the sky as ponies faces were projected into the sky.

Midnight Read blushed, "No, I have never really had the guts to try it..." She said looking down at the ground,

Midnight smiled back at Silver and took up his offer of joining them. She followed the two ponies to a table and watched as he opened up the red parchment. Midnight Read stared at the parchment being fascinated by the secrets it held. She looked up at the Pegasus who had just taken a seat, waiting for the answer of Silver's question hungry to find out the language and it's secrets.
