  1. Thes watched proceedings in the tent with a considerable amount of interest. He liked hoof—er, leg-wrestling as much as anypony, and he was also an actor. His trade was to create characters, and he often observed those around him for elements he could bring to the stage; and there was certainly a gold mine of characters here. He turned to Lady. “Has the whole day been full of this much activity? Or have I merely stumbled upon the climax, as it were?” Thes did tend to speak strangely, but his tone and smile were friendly. Heart tried to pull herself together, looking around once more, but she just couldn’t bring herself to walk on. She watched the four ponies picnicking, smiling wistfully at their carefree and happy chatter, remembering similar picnics with her family. Well, they're here with somepony they love…Why shouldn’t they be happy? She thought of home in Ponyville, and determined that, if she didn’t find another town she liked soon, she’d go back. At this point, somepony might have noticed that she hadn’t moved in awhile…
  2. ...and now I'm going to try again. Months ago, I posted a topic featuring my earth pony, Heart Song, and it just sort of fizzled. This time, I want to drum up some interest BEFORE hand, and perhaps flesh out a plot. If you’re interested, here's some basic info: My Character Bios: (I'll probably use Heart Song) http://www.canterlot.com/topic/9078-ospreys-log/ I generally like to keep it two three or four posters, so that it's easier to maintain a posting order and avoid stalling. I'm a flexible role-player who runs her posts through Microsoft Word first to catch most spelling/grammar errors. I also do everything i can to avoid single-sentence replies (a pet peeve of mine), and try my best to post quality writing. If you read the bios, you know Thes is looking for heart, and Heart is looking for home, but the key is they DON'T find what they're looking for: not yet. I'm open to setting/conflict suggestions-- I don't try to control the entire story. So, that's my pitch. Is there anyone interested in RP-ing with either of my characters? (Preferably Heart, but Thes is fun, too.) I start school soon, but I'm homeschooled and work fast, so I'm pretty consistent during the first semester (second semester gets hard, but I do my level best.)
  3. One spectator in the crowds, a tall-ish, lean earth pony stallion hued silvery blue with a black mane streaked with platinum, had a heavy heart, though none would know it from his bearing. Thespian Thespony, actor 'by birth and by choice,’ trotted slightly, head held high as he scanned the competition grounds for anything interesting, smiling faintly, if a bit distantly. Fillydelphia had been a strikeout, Manehatten had been a setback, and now he was almost bankrupt, and would be forced to halt his search while he took on some work. On the off-chance she would be here, Thes had come to the Iron Pony competition, only to realize that searching for one earth pony with the most typical coloration in this crowd was a foolish effort at best. He halted outside one tent, advertising free refreshments, and considered. “Well, it’s not like I know she’s even here, and getting heatstroke would not advance my goal,” Thes muted to himself, “So why not?” He trotted in, blinking at the crowd. “My goodness!” He dipped his head to the proprietor, not shouting, but projecting his voice the way only a trained actor or singer can to be heard above the din, “It seems this is quite the popular destination today! If it’s not too much trouble, some bread and lemonade would be greatly appreciated, ma’am.” He noticed the change jar, and glanced at his remaining bits. Well, I’m going to be rooming with Word Smith, and he refuses to let me pay rent, so I think I can afford to give her the rest: the new job starts tomorrow, anyway. Embarrassed by how small an amount it truly was, he quickly dropped the bits in, hoping no one would notice and think him stingy. Thes had a generous heart, but not generous pockets. The mare running the tent seemed a little lonely, and Thes determined to stay and chat a while. Heart Song meandered through the crowds. Her job in Seasaddle Bay had ended, and the place just didn’t feel like home, anyway. Accordingly, the traveling pony had traveled some more. She had never been an athlete, though she’d enjoyed watching various competitions since she was a filly. So, when she realized the Iron Pony competition was more or less on her way, she decided to swing by and watch for a while. She ended up pausing near two mares and two little ones having a picnic, and couldn’t help smiling, especially as she watched the young ones. Thes went through his clumsy stage as well, though he was a bit older… Her heart clenched, as it always did when she thought of the silvery-blue stallion. He was the only thing she missed about life in Canterlot, her own special somepony, but the life he thrived on drained her, and she didn’t want him to try to sacrifice it for her, so she’d left. The pale-pink pony let her head droop, indigo-colored mane slipping in front of her face as she sighed, a picture of dejection quite out of place in the festive atmosphere.
  4. I was torn betweent his day aria and BBBFF, but i loved all the songs. in the end, I went with the aria.
  5. Um...It's not urgent, but if you're not too busy, I'd LOVE an avatar picture of my OC Thespian Thespony. I'll include the (bad) picture I did. See it's not quite the right color. The blue should be paler, almost silvery, if possible, and the white streaks in his mane should technically be platinum. As for the pose, something simple is fine, maybe just the neck and up on a plain background. (With a crazy grin on his face? Please? He's a bit hyper at times, but mostly just enthusiastic.) EDIT: Maybe, for his pose, he could be pushing aviators off his eyes (so his eyes are visible) and smiling a little crazily (as in excited)? Plain background is fine, and I don't mind waiting.
  6. Heart song opened her pack, and pulled out her own beach towel, passing it to the pegasus. “Here. I guess I thought I’d go to the beach today, but I don’t feel much like relaxing anyhow.” Her mind drifted, unbidden, to the face of a stallion she once knew. A crazy grin lit his pale, silvery-blue face, and Heart smiled herself, before returning to the present. “I was just about to grab some ice cream, if you’d like to come while your hair dries. I’m Heart Song, by the way, but you can call me Heart. Everypony does, eventually.”
  7. Heart Song shifted nervously staring up at the imposing house. *Well, I needed a job to get be out of Fillydelphia—maybe Seasaddle bay is the right pace for me. Anyway, I took the job.* The pale-pink earth pony lifted a hoof, rapping on the door. A few days ago, she’s responded to an add requesting a private voice tutor, and the itinerant singer leapt at the opportunity to try out a new area. Heart song wasn’t a traveler by choice, she was looking for a place that felt right, but so far, all the places she’d been: Canterlot, Manehatten, and Fillydelphia, hadn’t suited the quiet mare. *Maybe this will be different*
  8. Thes gave an actors bow as he said by way of introduction, though speaking gently now, 'I am Thespian Thespony--but you can call me Thes, everypony does. Pray tell, Wintersong, how long have you been in the city?" in the back of his mind, THes was still holding out hope that this pegasus knew Heart Song, but it was seeming more and more unlikely as the time passed.
  9. Heart Song had nearly been bowled over by the pegasus, only avoiding collision by jumping backwards rather hastily. She giggled a little at the other mare’s indignation, but covered quickly. “I’m sorry,” the pastel-pink earth pony said quietly, “I know I shouldn’t laugh…Do you need help?”
  10. I guess I'll try Rose, then. I'm thinking her pony version would be pink with blond hair...most likely an earth pony...I've seen most if not all of her episodes, so hopefully I've got a grasp on the character...

  12. i'd be interested in joining...is the docotr's companion slot still open? ((I could do Rose, maybe martha, or we could make up an OC pony companion, which might be easier.))
  13. I'm afraid we have reached the limit of participants....I'm sorry.
  14. The minute the mare shied away from the crowd, Thes caught his breath. It was so much like Heart's reactions, her first year at school: that mix of fear of the crowd and disbelief that she could sing. He walked around the fountain, gently saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. If you want us to go away, we will, but if you don't mind, we'd like to talk." Thes nodded at Cloud when the male Pegasus spoke up, but was taken aback momentarily by Rhapsody's arrival. Not that he was upset, just surprised. He glanced at the female pegasus, hoping she wouldn't bolt again. He smiled at her, in an encouraging, friendly way.
  15. Something in Cloud's voice and stance told Thes that the subject broached was a sensitive one. But a new determination flooded him when he met Cloud's gaze, and the tired feeling began to recede. As Thes turned, nodding to the pegasus, he heard a voice—a song. For a second, his heart rose, but an instant later, he knew the voice was not hers. Nevertheless, it was a good voice. He stood in the crowd, watching, until the song finished, and he called out first. "Brava! Brava!" Thes may have been standing near the back of the crowd, but he was a trained actor--and that included training in projection--the art of being heard. He stamped his hooves in appreciation, then shouldered his way through the crowds. "Where has a voice like this been hiding? Do you perform locally?" He wasn’t just being polite—fledgling singers tended to flock together, sot his mare might just know Heart Song, or have an idea where emerging performers stayed in town—which would amount to the same thing.
  16. ((NOTE: Rackenhammer and I have talked, and agreed that our characters and siblings . Just so you don’t think I did this without his permission, or something like that. )) Roleplay Type: World of Equestria RP Name: Heart Song (goes by “Heart” for short) Sex: Female Age: Mare Species: Earth pony Eye Color: Royal Blue Coat Color: Pale Pink Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style:Long, flowing mane/tail, both a deep, rich indigo hue Physique: She’s a little shorter than average, and her build runs almost exactly the middle of the line between “built for speed” and “built for power”. Cutie Mark: A double-eight note over a heart Origin/Residence: Originally from Ponyville, she spent time in Canterlot while studying music, but now she’s turned itinerant, searching for a place that feels like home. She left Canterlot because of the atmosphere of the artistic community—she felt ponies came to judge the singers, not enjoy the music. Occupation: Singer/Music teacher Motivation: To find somewhere she can settle down Likes: Music, first and foremost; It’s everything to her. She also likes working with younger ponies and being an encourager; as for food, her tastes run along the lines of a well-made Caesar salad, but anything with raspberries will catch her eye. Dislikes: Being judged—not to say she doesn’t accept constructive criticism (what artist doesn’t), she just dislikes the attitude and atmosphere of, “That was an inferior performance,” without any reason given as to why. She’s okay under quite a bit of pressure, but there is a point where it becomes too much. She dislikes seeing a foal upset or hurt. In the world of food, she dislikes anything more than medium-hot (spicy), though she’s been trying to work past that. Character Summary: Personality: She’s gentle and quiet, and, while not to say, Fluttershy levels, she’s a tad shy. She’s soft spoken, but that doesn’t mean she’s a pushover. Many a time in highschool, she won an argument or debate with a steady gaze, and a quiet, calm, concluding statement. She’s very gentle with foals, and is a rather nurturing figure, with a protective side. Family: Heart Song was born to a Unicorn father from the northern Manehatten area and an Earth Pony mother from the southern reaches of Equestria. They'd met and married on vacation in the West, but moved to Ponyville soon after her older brother, Earth Writer, was born. Her parents were supportive, and she and her brother grew closer as both grew older, and their relationship had never been bad to start with. Backstory: At the risk of overstating the obvious, Heart Song always loved music. She didn’t realize it was her special gift, though, until she began receiving private lessons. Her teacher was kind, and her enthusiasm for music left an impression on young Heart. At her first recital, Heart Song finally ‘got it,’ getting lost in the music. Afterwards, when her teacher went to congratulate her, she found Heart staring in amazement at her new cutie mark—a double eight note over a heart. When Heart was old enough to go to the pony equivalent of highschool, one of her dad’s sisters insisted that Heart Song stay with her in Canterlot and attend a prestigious school for the arts there. After some consideration, Heart Song agreed. She was nervous at first, but soon found a welcoming group of ponies that helped her get used to the place. One colt, Thespian Thespony by name, took a special interest in her, but respected her wish to take it slowly—remaining just friends for the first two years of highschool. School wasn’t so bad, especially with a core group of friends, but after graduation, things turned bad fast for Heart. Her view of performances runs along the lines of: “you start at neutral and earn either favor or dislike, based on your merits.” The atmosphere at recitals in the posh theaters of Canterlot seemed to say all performers were held in utter contempt until they proved themselves superb—then they moved to ‘neutral ground’. Only after years of outstanding performances could you ‘earn’ anything resembling approval—and the pressure of countless critical attitudes, night after night wore the poor mare down. Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore, and heart decided to search for a town that had ponies who appreciated music, and actually went to concerts to listen instead of judge. After leaving a brief not to Thes, who she did feel sorry for leaving, she departed. She’s spent time in Manehatten, Fillydelphia, even a brief stint in Las Pegasus—always in search of a place she feels she can call home. Current Goal: To find a place that she feels she can be ‘safe’ in Major Flaw: Too impulsive at times and, when under extreme pressure, tends to ‘explode’
  17. "Well, the theater is competitive..." on the one hand, Thes was never one to discourage anyone from the stage. On the other hand, he didn't think this pegasus seemed to serious about acting. "It was nice to meet you, Cloud. I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for." That was Thespian's standard farewell. It sounded a bit odd, but it came from his belief that everypony wanted something, even if that something was for things to remain the way they are; somewhere down inside, part of him held the admittedly irrational hope that, if everypony found what they were 'looking for,' then, sooner or later, he would find Heart. What Thespian didn't realize was that this phrase often caused ponies to look at him strangely, or dismiss him as over dramatic. Thes heaved himself to his hooves, and began walking towards the center of the town, hoping for...something. He didn't even know what to hope for anymore .
  18. Thes sighed. If it were that simple... "It's all right," he muttered. "It's just--I have to apologize to her. I'm not sure why she left Canterlot, but I think it's something to do with me. At the very least, I want to be sure she's happy." He glanced at the theater again. Gesturing at his cutie mark, the comedy/tragedy masks of theater, he added, "Yeah, I'm an actor all right. Thespian Thespony by name, but you can call me Thes--everypony does. What's your name, friend? Know where I can find some temp work? I may have to stay here awhile during my search."
  19. Thespian looked up at the pegasus standing before him. He tried to muster a smile, but all that came was a half-hearted semi-smirk. "I'm afraid not--I'm new here, myself. Looks like a pretty good company, though, maybe you should ask inside." Thes turned towards the building, and, for a moment, his expression was one of deep longing. He covered quickly, though, turning back to Cloud. Before he could lose his nerve, Thes blurted out his question, "Have you seen an earth pony named Heart Song? She's pink, with a deep purple mane and tail. She'd have arrived about six months ago, and she's a performer—a singer." Thes knew it was a one in a million chance, especially given how common the color scheme was, but maybe, just maybe, he'd find a lead. "She wouldn't perform in big or famous venues—but small stuff, or maybe she offers voice lessons, or something..." He trailed of miserably, certain this other pony thought he was nuts. But I have to find her!
  20. As you may have guessed, this is the discussion thread for my first RP: "The Stage Is Calling, but I'm Not Listening." I'm just trying to drum up some interest. To summarize, my character Thespian Thespony (or 'Thes' for short) has just arrived in Fillydelphia, looking for clues about a friend of his, Heart Song, who may or may not have come there six months before (she has). Thes has two main goals: 1. Find any sign of her (This is an overarching goal) 2. Find some temp work. (So he can live in the meantime) But this may change, depending on who he runs into, and what their goals are. I'm willing to be flexible and take this just about anywhere, with a couple of exceptions: 1. He does NOT find Heart Song there. (I've got their reunion planned, but it won't be for a while, nor will it be there) 2. Heart Song left at least three months before (No 'I saw her not two weeks ago, she's just moved away') I want a buffer of at least a couple of months 3. He can't be absolutely certain of where she went next--though large chances are allowed. I'd like to keep his search a little desperate, without going cold. NOTE: I'm willing for this thread to change directions entirely, forcing him to do something other than look for Heart, temporarily. Also, I reserve no rights to mandate where she went next, with the exceptions of Canterlot and Ponyville (she wouldn't go there--yet). I ask to keep it down to three other posters at most (multiple characters per poster are allowed, of course) to prevent a thread stalling, or a question about posting order. So...anybody interested? ((Thespian's Bio: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/8666-tespian-thespony-final/ Topic here: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/8808-the-stage-is-calling-but-i%e2%80%99m-not-listening-open-to-first-three-people/
  21. This looks promising...but they specifically asked for no number-ages.
  22. ((ooc: While I’m waiting for the final steps of the approval process, I thought I’d get Thes’s hooves wet here . I have RP’ed before on other sites, so, yes; I know what I’m doing. I’m sorry about the limit, but I’ve found that the larger threads tend to stall pretty quickly. Just a note--Heart song will not appear in this quiz. He'll find her much later. Here are some links: Discussion thread: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/8812-thespians-first-role-play-open-to-first-three-posters/ Thespian’s Bio: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/8666-tespian-thespony-final/)) Thespian Thespony, or ‘Thes’ as he was known to his friends, and, well, just about everybody, was tired. This was unusual—the pale-blue stallion was usually bursting with energy, ready to take on anything—but he’d had a hard week. For months, he’d been in Manehatten, trying to earn a living and find Heart Song. There’d been a few leads, but all that turned up was a nearly-dead-end, with the landlord saying that she might have mentioned Fillydelphia before leaving—but he could be wrong. So, Thes had started out. He was here, at last, but all the months of searching were wearing him down—and he was at least six months behind her, from what he could tell. Thespian looked up at the sun, still not yet at noon, and shook his black-and-platinum mane. I’ll find her. I have to. I just need to find a place to stay, and a way to earn a bit of cash, then I can start looking. He saw a poster, advertising a local theater’s auditions, and for a moment, Thes’s tired heart lifted at the thought of acting. But he frowned suddenly, knowing te danger of taking a job that bound him to one place for too long—the trail could go cold. As much as he loved acting, there were somethings worth more. With that thought, he stumbled to a park, and sat down on a bench, head hanging low. What do I do now?
  23. Thanks! @Rackenhammer Alan Haynel? Lindsey Prance? (though their not as well-known; Killing Bill and Circus Olympus, respectively.)
