  2. Roleplay Type: FiM Free-for-All / Crossover Name: Sirocco Sex: ♂ Age: Nestling Species: Phoenix Eye Color: The glow of lantern light. Feather Color: Like most phoenix his feathers come in a range of colors. Color & Style: His body is ember red with his head and wings taking on the hue of burnt orange ending in a shade of yellow flares. Physique: While tiny compared to the average pony, he's actually a bit portly for a hatchling. Origin/Residence: Badlands Occupation: He's always had a fondness for blue items. Currently occupied with purple. The theme tomorrow could be shiny. Motivation: While Phoenix are relatively intelligent and are curious about their environments they lead simple unstructured social lives. Only coming together in larger numbers during the summer solstice. Likes: Dawn Summer Eating fresh shoots Smelling spices, herbs and incense Dislikes: Rocks Mud Dragons Sudden movement Being ignored Character History: The long-lived species of phoenix have witnessed the destruction of Equestria three times. They have learned so much by living so long that it is thought they possess the knowledge of every age. There are many tomes in Canterlot which mention the symbols of heaven and earth. None which speak in more detail, none more famous than the Shahname Book of Princesses. The pages of Shahname told of a pale unicorn, lost near the precipice of Tartarus. The foal's lonely cries were heard by the tender-hearted Simurgh, who lived on the eastern side of its peaks. She gathered the foal in her copper feathers and carried him to a lower peak, keeping him as her own. Zeal was showered with love and wisdom that she shared with three of her other nestlings. The four flourished under her wings. But as her children left one by one, Simurgh's heart was filled with pain. She knew that the young colt would be a stallion soon and that he would wish to return to his kind. So, Simurgh gently prodded Zeal with her last gift. The cry of a phoenix whether anguished or joyful is as beautiful as a song. The continuous melody echoed after Zeal's steps for three days. As soon as it became silent he took one more look at the three golden feathers he should burn should he ever need her help. Upon returning to his kind, Zeal fell in love with a beautiful filly named Fervor. But one day she fell mysteriously ill. Each passing week, she fell deeper into sleep, unable to eat anything. Everypony was certain she would never wake. In desperation, Zeal burned one of the feathers, bringing forth Simurgh in a pyre of gold. She immediately fled to Avestan, a beautiful rose bush that stands in the middle of the world sea Vourukhasa, so named by the firebirds. There she collected the leaves and blooms of its fallen branches and brought them to Zeal. Under her instruction, Fervor was awakened with an elixir that could cure what magic couldn't. It was said that soon after, because of Zeal's devotion to Fervor, that the two remaining feathers emblazoned themselves to his flank. It became a herald for the trust between pony and phoenix, a marker for friendship that would test the end of times. Nothing has changed about the phoenix in the past three ages. Except that there are perhaps a few more of their numbers sequestered in isolated mountains across Equestria. They still enjoy peace and quiet, roosting at the highest peaks, feeling superior to other birds, adorning their nests with frankincense and myrrh and taking baths in mica. As has been suspected by many a pony, Phoenix magic is limited to the properties of fire. Mostly, casting light to deter or confuse any threat. If angered, even insulted, one could get burned, but only if the bird comes in contact with its poor agressor. While fearless and immortal they can still be injured and fall ill, and if not cared for pass on. So their magic is utilized as a defense for escape. Sirocco is a rather proud phoenix. As a young nestling he left to find a home for himself. And being a rather proud phoenix, he left to find the tallest home he could find. All phoenix know there are peaks across the world sea but it has been many passing eras since they've needed to make the migration south. Equestria wasn't always stable with pony magic so it was custom to cross the ocean to ever fair Avestan and provide a warm, quiet place for their hatchlings.
  3. I believe it's hard to mess chocolate up which is why I truly adore creme brûlée (perhaps with pomegranate compote). My current favorite dessert to make is mousse au citron! Soo yum!

It's ok I believe strongly that its the responsibility of writers if not roleplayers to prove that rules can be pushed against but tastefully so.

Thank you Xiee and Rosewind! I've decided to continue writing up the character and will post it in the Free Rp. Perhaps eventually I can convey that a rare creature is ok to rp so long as its developed and tastefully done! I was feeling a bit 'put out' (hee) last night after I asked about it. But I understand that rules are rules.
  9. Thank you for cheering me up . I'll continue to write up my character and submit it for the Free Roleplay forum. Perhaps after then, I'd love to collaborate with either of you to talk about PeeWee or even Philomena.
  10. Oh. I see, so no go. Thank you.
  11. Thank you for replying so swiftly! I was pretty sure it would be necessary to be interacting with somepony as a pet or neighborhood denizen. This is why I was hoping to find someone who would adopt the lil tyke. Is it plausible to start a character without an owner - so long as I'm willing to tie him down? My problem is that I'm new and have yet to rp with anypony here. I already have a page of background story on the lil bugger.
  12. So I've been working on a [Creature] character for the roleplaying section and I finally found this: the playable species list. However; I don't see Phoenix listed in either playable or non-playable portions of the list. Some of the discussions here make me worry its not going to work and others make me consider that since the phoenix has been shown in MLP:FiM that its feasible to create a character for it. My preference was to create a Phoenix character that would be allowable in the Equestria Mane RP. I love the structure of the forum. The Free/Crossover things aren't really what I go for. I have put a pause on the bio for now. I adore writing stories and I even have a few 'posts' written in advance because of it. I find it a great challenge to write from the viewpoint of a creature that cannot speak. Thank you in advance for all your answers!

Thank you Winter! I did some digging and noticed that there was a Rhino, a Raven and an Okapi as characters so I feel a bit better about my off the wall choice!
