2. :-| But what's wrong with "Poof"!?

    -one dictionary later-

    Oh...Oh!?

Inconvenient irony? I actually had no idea about that, honest! :halo:

:sniff: But, I've gotten so attached to that nickname. And by you suggest, you mean I have to, don't I?

Alright, I'll change his nick name or remove it entirely, I'll keep this marked as [Wip] until I reach a decision.

Oh, and I have a question.

For the the showpony caravan, I've yet to think of a name for it. If this app gets approved before then, and soon after I conjure up a title, would I have to have this placed back into this section for reevaluation or could I just edit in the name without any major problems?

Yeah, I guess I was just being polite. Suggest in this case means it's necessary, I think. I don't think I could in good conscience allow it. :)

And cool. Just put it back to Ready when you want it reviewed again. As I said, the app is otherwise great so it shouldn't be long before it's stamped.

As for your question, well, re-evaluation is the policy for any kind of edits. If all your doing is coming up with a name for his caravan though, that doesn't really seem like the kind of thing that would warrant so much unnecessary trouble both from you and the RP Helpers. I would suggest in that case, if all you're really doing is editing a few words, contact myself or another Senior RP Helper to review and authorize the edit when you make it, just to be entirely sure it's appropriate.

  3. "It is a great pleasure to meet you all. Just to be able to come here is a rare and unexpected privilege for Equestrians. I'd be glad of the company, if you would consent to the tour, and I would also offer my aid in escorting my... fellow countrypony to a place of aid."

Alexa nodded to the other outsider. This one seemed very polite and well-mannered. The contrast between him and the pegasus was incredibly stark to say the very least. It made her even more confused as to what to think in regards to these outsiders. She gave a polite nod to the stallion regardless.

"Then follow along. I would be very pleased to share the majesty of our glorious empire with any honored guest," she said, enjoying herself some. The idea of giving tours of the empire appealed both to her pride in her home and her eccentricities. She was looking forward to showing these two around.

“Greetings, strangers! My name is Lilac Briolette, and I am a prima ballerina from one of the many ballet companies in the Crystal Empire. If you’re going on a tour of our beautiful home, I would love to join in. I haven’t seen the Crystal Heart since the Crystal Fair, myself – it would be perfectly wonderful to see it again today!”

The jouster's eyes widened at the sight of another character at the scene. She was a quite beautiful mare with pink mane and lilac coat. She exuded a allure and elegance uncommon even for the empire. Alexandrite didn't have to listen to her introduction to know she was a performer of some esteem. Her being a prima ballerina certainly fit, even if the guard couldn't verify this not having recently had the time to attend a ballet. Whatever else, having such a charming and beautiful entertainer along for the tour would certainly be a boon.

"My pleasure meeting you, milady. We would delight in having you accompany us on the tour," she said giving a polite bow. "I've always held a certain regard for your art as it's truly not so dissimilar to mine. You and I both act as entertainers, demonstrating our strength and grace to inspire and captivate a crowd."

"Not to tell you how to do your job, but I'd watch that strange mare. She sounds like she wants the Heart as a gift."

It was then that one of the first crystal mares to arrive pulled Alexa aside to whisper in her ear. She indicated the pegasus outsider as she spoke. The guard just smiled and shook her head.

"Oh, come now. That's ridiculous. Nopony could possibly be so addled as to believe they can take our treasured heart," the guard insisted in a not quite as muted voice, shaking her head. "You are assuredly mistaken. I know these outsiders can be somewhat unusual, but that does not mean we have cause to be so needlessly suspicious. I am sure this mare's intentions are pure."

"Greetings everypony! I am Miss Harshwhinney, it's a pleasure to meet all of you! It's been a while since my last visit here to this wonderful land. I hope that Princess Cadance and Prince Shining Armor are well."

The guard's eyes widened at the site of yet another newly arriving outsider at the gates. She knew this one's face. She was the game's inspector who had come to the empire proceeding them winning their bid for the games. As a sportspony herself, the games had of course been excellent news to Alexandrite. As such, she was very much eager to treat this mare well.

"Ah, Miss Inspector! It's my delight to welcome you back to the empire!" Alexandrite started, bowing her head slightly and smiling. "The Princess and her Prince should indeed be home at the palace. As it were, I have already agreed to show these fine ponies on a tour of the empire, but we will of course ultimately be headed toward the palace. You are welcome to accompany us if you so desire. Perhaps it will make amends for how you were attended to previously."

"Morning, Colonel! Why the long face?"

These words from the stallion visitor alerted the guard to yet another guest. She turned to find a strict looking older stallion in a uniform. She still only knew so much of the army of their neighbors in Equestria and how it was organized and hadn't in fact recognized the uniform. Luckily this other guest was here to identify him by rank for her. A colonel, eh? Yet another very important pony who just happened to appear. Alexandrite would do her best to accommodate him. She stepped toward him and gave a salute.

"Good day, Colonel! Welcome to the Crystal Empire," she said in a disciplined fashion. "Might you be here to see Prince Shining Armor? As a member of the Imperial Palace Guard, it would be my honor to escort you to the Palace, however as I was just explaining to the inspector here, I have already agreed to give a tour of this empire to these ponies. You are more than welcome to come along, however."

"No reason to be worried, Crystally! I've had like seven infinity concussions, so I'm totally immune to their problems now. And we gotta get to the heart, because if we don't, Snowfall won't be happy and why else would I come here other than to make Snowfall happy? No worries. I'm sure and your trusty lance will keep us safe from any crystal berries that try to attack us. Speaking of, how much do they cost? I don't have much on me but I wonder if they're hard like they are in my imagination. Wow, seems like we have a regular tour group! You better get hoppin' before the ballerina takes your spot, Crystally!"

And then there was this pony... this difficult, difficult pony. The guard really didn't know what to make of her at this point. She didn't suspect her of theft as her compatriot did, but she was definitely... confused. Regardless, Alexandrite would try and treat her as well as she could.

"Crystally? Do excuse me. I realize now that I have yet to give my name to any of you. How impolite of me," she said in a steady voice, facing all of the guests. "I am Alexandrite Tilt, palace guard and champion jouster. It is my pleasure to guide you all around my empire today."

She gave a small sigh before again focusing in on the pegasus. "I do still worry if you didn't sustain some real damage; your words seem... confused, but if you refuse to seek aid I will not force you," she said in a low voice.

"Crystal berries have no means of attacking anypony; they are just berries with a crystalline shape. They are not particularly hard either, I'm afraid. Nopony would want to eat them if they were... and as for price they are quite affordable when in season. If you wish to try some, it should be no problem to acquire some in the markets," the guard explained.

"Speaking of which, it's about time we begin the tour. Everyone, follow me," she said addressing the entire group. It was kind of ironic, here she was leading a number of outsiders, a prima ballerina, a games inspector and a colonel on a tour when it was supposed to be her day off.

  4. What the heck. I guess I might as well try my hoof at the comedies too since this is such a fun idea. Let's hope I don't fail too bad.

I think I'll use Lt. Steel Dagger for this; he's probably my most suited for it.

For those who don't know him, Dagger is an incorrigible flirt and successful womanizer. He's also kind of snide and lazy and likes to use his status in the REA to show off. He is the son of a major and part of an REA family that goes back a long ways and has a very brash, kind of awkward sister who is a private in the army.

  5. Hi there. :)

I really like the app and would be happy to stamp it, however, thinking it through I'm a little unsure about the nickname for the character on account of other connotations the word has aside from those associated with disappearances. Considering the slang meanings of the word and the fact that the characters is described as being effeminate it seems kind of unfortunate as a name choice, even if not the intention. I would suggest changing this name.

  6. “I am glad you feel that way,”

From her words and expression, it seemed Princess Luna had expected something else from her. She was used to this. A pony like her was constantly being underestimated. She was Rarity the dressmaker: cultured, sophisticated, feminine, and not expected to be very much more, evidently even by princesses. Sure she made things pretty enough to make her customers and the fashion elite swoon and she had a notable flair for the drama, but she was also smart enough to keep her enterprise running, cunning enough to make a pack of diamond dog captors her willing servants and bold enough to kick a rampaging manticore square in the face. A few moderately large spiders weren't going to make her squirm at the very least.

“Well, Opalescence, it is nice to meet you, I will inform the mare assigned to look after the two of you that Opalescence is no mere house pet and to treat her with utmost respect. Now,”

Opal gave a respectful nod toward the princess, indicating she was cool with this. She then sauntered away slowly, only for one of the spiders to descend in front of her. The cat gave a hiss and jumped back, and then ran to hid behind Rarity's hooves. Rarity chuckled and shook her head. Poor dear. She knew Luna's spiders would likely prove to be docile, but for her dear assistant this experience might be a somewhat unsettling one. She wasn't entirely sure it wouldn't be good for the little dear however.

“The reason I brought you here to Canterlot, and more specifically to my gardens, is because I am very fond of this fabric. Rather than merely commissioning you and dropped off the materials, I hoped coming here would spark inspiration for your creativity that reflects upon my personal taste in aesthetics. This is one of the places in Equestria where so many things that I find visually pleasing are gathered together: the webs, the moonlight, and the flowers…the only thing missing would be the aurora, though we would have to travel far beyond Canterlot to see them. At least that would be the case were I not Princess of the Night.”

Rarity listened with interest as the princess explained herself. She had assumed the request would be something like this, and she was prepared for it. In fact, she was eager for the opportunity. She was less prepared for what came next, however. A smile crept across Luna's face as soon the dome was bathed in an intense and beautiful light. Rarity's eyes widened at the display, the colours swirling as they filled the dome, reflecting beguilingly from the webs and the flowers. it was unreal. She was seeing now the garden paradise of an Equestrian princess and in a word it was overwhelming.

“Do you have any questions before I address access to materials and payment?”

Luna's words wrested Rarity from her slack jawed stupor. She glanced at Opal to find the cat was likewise stupefied at the intense and mesmerizing site.

"P-Princess Luna..." Rarity started, smiling awkwardly. "Allow me to offer my most humble thanks for this esteemed honor," she said, bending down to kiss Luna's hooves. "The sheer majestic splendor of this beauteous garden...! I am unworthy!" she uttered dramatically as she continued to kiss at the royal mare's hooves.

Meanwhile, a nearby Opalescence raised a paw to her face and shook her head at her owner's overwrought display.

  7. "Indeed it was, however I don't see myself become a professional anything any time soon. Unless they have a sport for professional Ice Cream eating. Then I'd definitely become that,"

"Ooh! That would be fun! " Dazzle's eyes lit up at Ice Storm's words and she gave a chuckle. "It wasn't ice cream, but not too long ago I competed in a cupcake eating contest. I ate so many cupcakes that day and they were soooo good!"

Dazzle gave a sigh and then looked down. "But I didn't get any ribbons or anything... I just got a terrible stomach ache that lasted for days," she said sadly.

"Oh, come on now, I'm sure you'll do just fine. Perhaps the three of us could all make one thing together. Then it would be super special because it was from all of us, and will remind each of us of this night,"

"Ooh... that sounds like an amazingly amazing idea! I love it! It'll be a reminder of our friendship!" Dazzle said with clear excitement.

She loved stuff like this. It actually sounded exactly like the kind of idea she'd suggest before somepony else called her silly or childish. "Let's do it!" she added for emphasis.

“Hmmm... errrrrrrrr.... ummmmmmm............... wuzzle wazzle gobble gobble........?Well I’m stumped, Unless you can think of something better, all I can think to do right now is to like, dip our hooves in paint and spread it all around a sheet of paper together... or something?”

"Hmm..." Dazzle started, not really sure what they should do either. Dancer's idea did have some appeal. She had fond memories of hoofpainting back in her magic kindergarten class. Still, it was the kind of idea that seemed silly even to Dazzle. There had to be something more constructive they could try.

"Well... maybe we could try and paint each other?" she suggested after a while. "That would be better than just painting shapes, right?"

  8. "Agreed, Miss Rarity. We can't let anyone else get hurt,"

Rarity gave a steady nod in accord and walked alongside the colt. Soon they had returned to the section of cave where they had been before. It had seemed like they had had a number of options here not too long ago, but looking at it now, Rarity found this was not the case. As the downward sloping path bore the marks of the beastly worm's slime, the only option was the treacherous path leading up. Valen seemed to be realizing the exact same thing as her.

"Well, uhh, I guess we have no choice except...up. That narrow path. This is a bad time to tell you Miss Rarity, but I have a rather terrible fear of heights,"

Rarity gave a weak smile and nodded.

"I'm afraid you're right, Valen. We really do have no choice here. It's a precarious route for sure, but it's the only one we have here," she said as she grimly trotted toward the perilous pathway with the young pony.

    "After you, M-Miss Rarity."

She nodded as Valen motioned her ahead of him. She was the adult here, so she wasn't going to put it on Valen to lead the way. This would be difficult, but she needed to have faith. She could do it. Most knew her only as the genteel dressmaker, but she far from weak or timid. A situation like this called for her remaining cool and collected and boldly pressing ahead. She needed to remember the friends she held so dear and follow their example. If she could steel her nerves and be as bold as Rainbow Dash she could do this, and do it while keeping Valen safe. She just needed to stay calm.

"Very well, Valen," she said in a low voice. "Let's be brave here, for everypony. We need to remain calm and move with grace and care."

With that, she got on her hind legs and scooted out onto the path, her back to the cave wall. Her hooves inched carefully along the path; some debris came lose and went hurdling down into the depths below. She gave a gulp and then looked back toward Valen.

"Don't be scared, Valen dear. I will catch you if you fall, I promise...." she said, her voice taking an assuring tone. She motioned with one of her forehooves for the colt to come along.

  9. “You may stand. Both of you."

Rarity stood at the command and watched to make sure Opal followed suit. Standing before her now, Rarity looked the princess over. Luna really was as regal and majestic presence. Composed, dignified if slightly unsure; Rarity could see a lot in her strong posture. She was every bit as awe-inspiring to be around as her sister was. Her ethereal mane and tall, slender figure giving her beauty no normal pony could hope to equal. This was royalty in every sense of the word, and being there alone with her, just Opal at her side, had Rarity nervous and excited in equal measures.

Good night to you Rarity, and to your feline friend - I welcome you both to my private gardens. Your luggage will be taken to a guest suite near my own quarters by castle staff, who should be present there when you retire for the night. I did not realize you would be bringing your cat with you – if you require anything specific for her meals, you may tell the mare who will be responsible for looking after you during your stay.”

"Trust me princess, she would never forgive me if I went to Canterlot for a week and left her behind," she said in reply to the princesses comments. She could have left Opalescence with Fluttershy, she supposed, but previous trips had told her it wasn't worth the passive-aggressive onslaught she received upon returning to the boutique.

The Princess moved aside then and motioned for Rarity to enter the dome. Rarity nodded, eager to move along. She stepped slowly inside and began to look around. The silks caught Rarity's eyes immediately. Their gleaming luster in the moonlight was simply splendid. Rarity couldn't take her eyes away. Such luxurious material and it was laid out before her. Rarity knew then that this would be a fun job. She couldn't wait to get started.

“Once we are inside, I will explain in full detail why I summoned you hear so late - I am sure it strikes you as bizarre. As a warning, there are many large spiders such as Sophronia here within the dome, I assure you they are all very peaceful – a result of my magic. They are fed, and keep to themselves. If you are fearful, however, let me know and I shall erect a barrier around the inner walls so they may not approach you.”

Rarity's eyes moved to Sophronia. Of course spider silk was going to always mean spiders. Rarity stared at the creature with hesitation for a few seconds before finding a smile and giving a nod. She watched as the spider extended its leg friendlily. She giggled and then smiled at the curious creature before flipping back her mane and looking toward Luna once more.

"No need to worry, Princess. I've encountered spiders much larger and more brutish than this. Those are the ones worth fearing, not these; on the contrary, as one of nature's seamstresses I feel something of a connection with our web-spinning friends," Rarity assured Luna with confidence, recalling an unpleasant run-in with some massive and decidedly unfriendly arachnids she had had while traveling with her friends.

"Besides, I can tell little Sophronia here is an absolute dear," she said, smiling at the creature. Perhaps it was surprising that she wasn't so afraid, being the drama queen of her circle of friends. Rarity was also a shrew pony, and could be alarmingly collected. If a princess of Equestria was insuring her she had nothing to be afraid of, then it was the truth. That much she was sure of.

“Ah, it seems we – I – have introduced Sophronia and have not even asked for your friend’s name. Would you introduce us?”

Rarity gave a small laugh. Was she the one making the princess nervous? it looked like it just might be the case. She glanced toward Opal, who seemed to be eyeing Sophronia with a mixture of fear, curiosity and contempt. She lifted the persian cat up with her magic--Opal mewing and clawing for the ground as she did--and brought her before the princess.

"This little dear is Opalescence, my trusty assistant," Rarity said with a laugh. "As cats go, she's kind of an incorrigible little diva--all the more likely to tell me what to do than ever think to listen to me. She has uncanny fashion sense for a cat though and is, of course, quite the little cutie pie! I don't know what I'd do without her."

She gleefully pulled Opal in closer, nuzzling her fur with her muzzle. Opal shot her an unfavorable glance before mewing some more and then struggling out of the hold, eventually leaping away from her gushing owner.

  10. "Thanks. It really isn't much, just a home away from home. But you said that your room is smaller than this? Wow, how big is your space Spirit? I mean, I thinkt this place is small! I really had to think about where to put things and I don't want to take over the other side in case I do get a room mate."

Spirit nodded at the question. Her expression remained as even as ever as her eyes continued to look about the room.

"Well, the dimensions of the room itself are roughly thirty-seven percent greater than this room, but my living space is much smaller. We just have a single bedroom in the back of the bookshop, so beds are needed for both myself and Mr. Gray, and his side of the room is really cluttered with big stacks of books from the shop and other personal belongings," she explained in a steady, unchanging voice.

"It's acceptable though as I really have few personal belongings to my own name," she said, giving a quiet nod.

  11. "Yeah Lyra, it sucks. But priorities. At least you still get free hoof rubs though, right? And good thing because being a gallant knight defending the utter ruination that's my treat stand would be awfully tiring work. You'd have to deal with Derps at least four times a week, and that's if she's busy as a bee in a tree and needs to go pee, speaking of, is there a little filly's room for her to combust somehow? That'd be the only thing that would make this whole mess even worse is by...making the mess worse."

“Yeh know, prhaps setting Derpy Hooves on de toilets over dere wouldn’t be such a bad idea. It ‘ud save de town de trouble of demolishin dem. Though I wouldn’t wanna be ‘round whennit happens.”

"Me neither!" Lyra attested at the talk of Derpy destroying the nearby restrooms, shaking her head vigorously. "That sounds like the worst!"

The unicorn's angry expression turned to a smile as she looked back toward her mare. "Those hoof rubs do sound really nice though!" she declared with an overstated grin.

Sometimes life just isn’t very fair I s’pose. Saurry ta hear ‘boutcha dress, Lyra.”

"It certainly is sorry to hear!" Lyra started upon Cherry's comments giving another momentary pout before pepping back up. "But I know Bon Bon will get me it eventually, or one just like it, if I wait!" she said smiling and giving a fond glance Bon Bon's way.

"I just hope it isn't too long..." she said in a quiet voice, glancing at her hooves.

  12. “Interesting, I’ve been under the impression that NSI has been doing quite fine for itself. Why, that railroad to Aquellia is expected to be completed anytime now... or so I’ve read in the newspapers.”

Crystal was somewhat surprised by the reaction. It seemed Merlot assumed her words held some kind of dire meaning for their finances. Considering the company was more profitable than ever, this was certainly not the case.

"Oh, no, no, no, you misunderstand. I said the little ways, and I mean little. If that silly daughter of mine didn't have a strong enough head on her shoulders to keep our profits strong, I and the rest of the board wouldn't hesitate to oust her. She is his daughter though, and she was bred to be his successor. Of course the company is doing well for itself," she said shaking her head.

"All the same, she's unduly rash. She cuts funds from events that have been a part of our tradition for years, she takes undue risks and does a number of things her father would never approve of," she said through sigh. "Little things, but nevertheless do they wear on the nerve."

“I’ve heard good things about her too; I’ve seen a few of her shows in Manehatten too; truly an exceptional talent. I can why she’s playing Midnight Summer.”

There was something odd about Merlot's words and expression. She could sense some hesitation from him. Was he hiding something from her? Or perhaps she had said something which displeased him. She had mentioned her husband a number of times. Perhaps that was it? it was something of a faux pas in these situations, wasn't it? Crystal sighed; she really was woefully out of her element. She still wanted to impress the charming gentilecolt though, so she would just have to do her best to watch what she said.

"Excellent," she said quietly, with a modest nod. "Hopefully she'll become this role."

“Indeed. Assuming the play goes well tonight, I will be quite indebted to our matchmaker.”

Crystal blushed as these words. Yes. Totally out of her element. She just hadn't been in a situation anywhere even slightly like this in many many years now. It was exciting, but also kind of frightening. All she could do was do her best to keep a strong face and trot on.

"Indeed," she quietly affirmed, giving a small nod.

“Anyway, as you’ve expressed an interest in my affairs, I’m glad to say that my latest dig on the western outskirts of the Everfree Forest was a spectacular success. We unearthed an old pre-Classical temple along with a substantial amount of relics and other artifacts. With only, ahem... 'minimal difficulty', the entire find has been moved back to Manehatten for further study and appraisal.”

Crystal listened and nodded as Merlot spoke of his work. She had the upmost appreciation for those in his fields, digging up the finery of ages past for the modern pony to enjoy. She deeply regretted how the serious job that this fine, intelligent stallion toiled at was weighted down by farce in this age thanks to the puerile fantasy stories popular with the masses and the clueless thrill-seeking adventurers who followed them.

"Oh my, how excellent! What sorts of pretty things did you find? Any gold or jewels?" she started, showing her excitement for the dig. "I understand you wouldn't part easily with the best pieces and you'll of course want to have everything appraised first, but I am always looking to add to my private collection..."

  13. "If we're going to be successful at this little job, we're going to have to watch each other's backs. I'm a little concerned about our employer, but for now I'm just going to stick to thinking all positive-like and hope he's really on the level with us."

Gilda smirked as the hooded griffon challenged her philosophy. Most of the rest had decided to shut their beaks and just glare at her or make petty indirect jabs. This was a bold one evidently though; not surprising she supposed considering how she dressed. She gave a chuckle and shook her head. She could deal with this she supposed. Enduring months underground locked up with a pony like Pathfinder was sure evidence she could endure any kind of annoyance. She just needed to keep her cool and not let these dweebs get to her.

"From my experience, trusting others to watch your back to is a sure way to eventually get it stabbed," Gilda said, flippant as ever.

"You can believe what you will, I suppose, but me? i intend to keep my open and make my own conclusions about who is on the level with me and who and who isn't," she added with a harsh scowl.

  14. "Oh oh oh can we do that. Please please please. Oh can we do it please, I want to be extra pretty like you."

Rarity smiled warmly at the young griffoness' enthusiasm. She had only meant to indicate how a griffon like her could coif her plumage, but evidently the little one wished for Rarity to demonstrate. She wouldn't mind of course. Dresses were her art, but she was skilled in every aspect of styling and beautifying. She gave a sweet giggle and nodded.

"I'll admit I haven't actually had the opportunity to style a lot of griffons before. As such, it would be my upmost delight to do what I can to make your feathers as glamourous as possible," Rarity said, nodding some more. "But let's focus on one thing at a time," she added. She'd see to the brother here first.

"Ahhh. Isn't it amazing Razor. We get to spend time with a famous fashionista. Her works were said to be the greatest by Hoity Toity."

    "Glimmer...can't....breathe."

    "oops. Sorry."

    "No problem...yeah sure....great."

This conversation was interesting for a number of reasons. For one, these two were adorable. She could see even more echos of her relationship with her own kid sister, which was warmly affecting. For another it confirmed to her how great and influential a friend somepony like Hoity Toity could be. That stallion's words and reputation continued to send in the customers. She would have to be sure to thank him next time she was in Canterlot.

"You're serious? Well that does sound...nice...but no. For a number of reasons, number one, nothing I wear will make a difference. Two, I'm not going to this wedding to appease my mother's desire to see me find a life-mate, when it is already clear such a thing ain't happening. Three, no force on this earth or the skies above will get me to dress fancy. Not the elders of Aquilla nor the princesses of Equestria."

"But...but Razor. This is Rarity! You can't say no to a customized design!"

"I made this clear Glimmer, I'm dressing up. Lost cause, ain't happening."

    "But....but...Razor."

"No...not gonna look. Not the face, not gonna look."

"Don't you want to look nice? Mommy would like it, and I think you would look nice in something fancy."

    "Oh...with the face...and the eyes and the....I can't...I..I...Ok alright."

    "So you will do it?"

"Yes I'll get something nice to wear."

    "Yeah!"

    "Glimmer...can't breathe.....again."

"Oh this is going to be so much fun. Oh can I help please please. I could learn so much. Oh lets make Razor a prince right out of the history books."

"Alright. Besides, she is....good with designs I guess. So....where do we start?"

This griffon really was a pessimistic one, wasn't he? Rarity had to wonder why he was so down on himself. With the look on his face, it likely was just the typical male aversion to fancy dress, but seemed so adamant. Or... at least he did until his sister started to systematically tear him down. Rarity laughed. That's how little sisters were. With her sweet pleas, her own could even convince her to go out into the wilderness on a camping trip. Truly, the little sister was a powerful force that could not be taken lightly. Here, it seemed like this would work to her advantage.

"Trust your sister, dear, I am an artist! In my capable hooves there's no such thing as a lost cause, and certainly not a dashing young griffon like yourself," Rarity said, throwing back her mane. "You won't be disappointed."

"As for you, darling," she said, addressing Glimmer. "I'd be delighted to have you as my assistant for the day! I'm positive that with your help, we can have your brother looking just gorgeous!"

"Now then, you said we want a custom piece here, right?" she started, nodding at Razor as she moved in to examine his coat and plumage closely. Silently, she grabbed a nearby tape measure and began to take the griffon's measurements. "Do you have any specifications? A colour? A particular style or shape? Anything?"

  15.

Rarity was a mare who always lived on the tightest of schedules. Running Carousel Boutique practically single-hoofed was not as easy as it might appear. She had to make each dress she sold herself, and would not tolerate anything beneath the bar of perfection. She also had to display and sell her dresses to the customers, meet with special clients, travel and promote herself in various fashion shows and of course go out and gather her own gems whenever she was running low. To top it off, she happened to have five amazing best friends and a darling little sister all of whom she needed to put aside ample time in her life for. With the number of hours in the day being limited as they were, the prospect of fitting all of it in and staying as composed as Rarity was would invariably seem a daunting one.

It certainly wasn't easy. Even with all the time off for friends, the life of a fashionista on the rise was nothing if not stressful. Sometimes the stress would get to her and she might crack; the simply misplacing of a ribbon she needs might somehow transform into a moment's catastrophe, but on the whole, Rarity was quite good at keeping her frantic life running at a steady pace. Granted, she was no Twilight Sparkle, who gleefully planned out even the minutia of her days in advance, but Rarity really did pride herself on her ability to make and keep to her many deadlines. She was good at scheduling herself so that she was able to get things done. Sometimes, however, something would come around which would throw her set schedule off entirely.

The Carousel had been running on its regular cycle when the letter had arrived, only to be thrown entirely off its tracks. There were few things that could halt everything for a mare like Rarity, but a personal summons from a Princess of Equestria was certainly one of those things. Such an honor was certainly not something one turned down. It had meant completing every open order she had in the three days she was given (not doing good by her customers was not something she could tolerate), and rescheduling some things with her ever-understanding friends, but Rarity had replied immediately affirming she intended to meet Princess Luna at the designated time.

It was a delightfully exciting thing for a number of reasons. For one, Rarity hadn't yet had much opportunity to get to know Princess Luna, not to the extent of her exalted sister or niece at the least. They had attended a number of the same events, but they had never had very much time to become more familiar with each other. For another, Rarity had never had an opportunity to work with spider silk. From what she knew of it, given where it came from, it could be hard to gather and not a task most ponies would be up to. Rarity had to say she was very much intrigued to see what Luna and her orb-weavers had for her.

Upon the arrival of the designated evening, Rarity had all her things packed and ready to go. As she was planning to stay for an entire week, the stack of luggage was impressively tall. She had almost felt sorry for the pair of lunar guards who arrived to handle it, having to pack all of the suitcases and bags into their chariot and then pull all of that along with Rarity and Opal all the way to Canterlot. She wasn't very knowledgeable regarding the enchantments that gave Luna's guards their wonderfully eye-catching unearthly style, but she did hope their bat-like wings were not made to strain under the burden. She had been sure to thank them upon landing at the castle.

"Come along now, Opal," she had said as the guards departed to bring her luggage to the room she would be using. "The moon is almost fully risen now. We mustn't keep Princess Luna waiting."

The moody cat mewed and followed at her owner's hooves as Rarity made her way steadily toward Luna's cereus dome, where the guards had told her the princess awaited her. Wanting to be punctual, she moved quickly through the palace and found her destination. Seeing the princess waiting at the entrance to the dome waiting for her, she smiled and hurried ahead. When she was close, she kneeled and bowed as was proper.

"I, Miss Rarity of Ponyville, have arrived at your request, my royal princess of the night!" she said with reverent emphasis as she continued to bow her head. She shot a harsh glance at Opal, making sure the cat bowed as well.
