[colour=#282828]History: Tourmaline Glass was born to mother Carnelian Verglas and father Obsidian Sheen, an artist and novelist respectively. The two lead a very modest life in a small corner of the Crystal Empire's Arts District along with Tourmaline and her one older sister. Surrounded by creativity since she was first born, Tourmaline has lead an inspiring life but, as is typical with most blank flank fillies, still doesn't quite know what her destiny holds.[/colour]

[colour=#282828]During the rule of the dark king, Tourmaline and her family were enslaved and worked to their limits as most crystal ponies were. Memories of the darkness and cruelty of this time affected the filly greatly and still occasionally haunt her. After having been thrust 1000 years into the future with her empire as a result of the king's curse, Tourmaline still feels some distance from the peaceful, cheerful age.[/colour]

[colour=#282828]Nevertheless, she now again leads a peaceful life in the crystal empire, studying at a local school. [/colour]

[colour=#282828]Character Summary: Tourmaline can be described as an odd, quiet, somewhat aloof and even gloomy child. She is never shy, but sticks mostly to herself as she feels it's easier for her to be alone. She feels somewhat distanced from other foals and doesn't have a lot of interest in making friends. That said, for her family and the ponies she does care about she has a lot of loyalty and sweetness. She is especially defensive of her parents.[/colour]

[colour=#282828]Tourmaline has diverse interests. She enjoys reading, especially elaborate fantasy works, poetry and anything dealing with the mysterious or occult. She is fascinated by magic and as such greatly admires unicorns; she herself studies fortune reading and potion brewing, but is still an amateur at such things. She also enjoys art, and in particular likes drawing atmospheric landscapes. She is fascinated by the snowy lands beyond the Crystal Empire's barrier and often ventures out on her own to gaze upon them. [/colour]

[colour=#282828]She dislikes crowds and general chaos and can be somewhat frightened by loud, sudden noises. She is both awed by and particularly fearful of dragons and large beasts. She also dislikes hot weather and strenuous physical activity. She has a low tolerance for bitter or spicy foods, preferring sweets.[/colour]

[colour=#282828]Atypical for a child of the Crystal Empire, Tourmaline has little use for the Crystal Faire or the traditions associated with it, as the ordeal is far too busy and loud for her tastes. Despite this, she actually does have a lot of pride and love for her empire, and while she does have interests in visiting Canterlot and a few other outside places, she can't imagine herself living elsewhere. [colour=#282828]Tourmaline is an exceedingly intelligent child, but underperforms at school and is prone to daydreaming. This coupled with her lack of friends leads some to assume she's particularly troubled. This isn't necessarily true, she more just has trouble feeling particularly engaged or compelled by the lessons. She is more passionate toward her private studies, reading and passions and can get quite involved in discussing or showing them off. [/colour]

[colour=#282828]As a blank flank, Tourmaline still doesn't know exactly what her future holds. She however is in no real hurry to find her mark, knowing it is something that will come to her in time. She actually rather likes the idea of her options being open in the meantime.[/colour]
