1. Silt frowned. He took a deep breath as Sapphire towered over him, trying to intimidate him, but held his ground and looked her in the eye. Opening his mouth to give a smart comeback, Silt stopped when the pony on Sapphire's back stirred. "This isn't the time to argue." Silt sighed, looking at the pony. "He needs help immediately, so bring him down. But leave the diamond dog. You may think her a friend, but I don't trust her." Silt's hoof touched the scars on his chest: three long, pink gash marks. "Jogurt, would you care to help me? I could use an extra pair of paws." The tree twisted open and Silt descended the dirt. Past the luminescent mushrooms into the dimly-lit cavern. Caymallow was wide awake and seemed to be doing very well, Silt noted. "Lay him down here, I insist." The mare offered the space she had been laying on for the hypothermic stallion. "Thank you, Caymellow." Silt nodded to the mare and searched his seed wall. He didn't have much for hypothermia, enough to stabilize the stallion, but not enough to completely cure his affliction without outside help of his most dreaded element. Silt looked at his cash of seeds and then at the stallion, he sighed. His aversions were not important when the life of a pony was at stake. "I hate to ask, but somepony needs to help me and... and build a fire." Silt shivered at the thought. Still, having a fire wasn't as bad as having a diamond dog. He could at least put out the fire with his magic should it get out of control. "I can't make fire, I can barely be around it, so if somepony knows how I'm sure the stallion will appreciate it. Just... be sure to build it away from the tree roots or anything growing, really." Leaving the others to their own devices, Silt approached the seed wall once more and took a single seed from it, for it was all of that kind of plant he had. Finding a spot in the dirt floor well away from the others, he planted the seed and summoned his magic. The walls and floor of the cavern glowed a bright green and the seed sprouted quickly, reaching up and accelerating through the stages of life - sprout, adult, flower, and finally, fruit. The magic stopped and Silt stood next to the spiky purple and green melon and breathed heavily. His energy was drained, and his stomach growled in hunger. "J-jogurt? Could you help me?" Silt panted. "I need my mortar and pestle, it's a stone bowl and stone stick for crushing... and a bowl of water from the spring."
2. I've been waiting for posts! Should we perhaps discuss posting order/limits/restrictions? This thread seems to be dying and I don't want to see it go!
3. Poor Silt! Don't scare him to much... he might run away into the forest!
4. "Jogurt?" Silt repeated, tasting the name. This creature didn't seem bad at all to Silt. In fact, his voice kind of tickled his ears. After a long pause to think in which he watched Jogurt much on some vegetable, Silt finally said, "Well, okay. My name is Silt Treble, it's nice to meet you. Come in, but please keep your voice down, I have a mare recovering. And don't eat any seeds you find; if you're still hungry, I have some hay by the spring." "I uh, smell more of you coming along... and a dog..." Jogurt whispered to the unicorn and edged closer to the entrance. "A dog!" Silt shivered, from surprise and fear. This Jogurt seemed to have quite the nose on him to be able to find the dirt covered pony, underground, with a tree on top. Silt had the feeling that he could trust the hamster's intuition, even though they just met. "Okay, um, go down the stairs and stay hidden. I'm - I'm gonna stay up here and wait for them." His own courage surprised the unicorn. But it made sense to him, if his friends were being pursued by dogs, he would have to know right away so they could run into the tree and hide. He left the trunk open so Jogurt could descend if he wanted to, and Silt stood by the tree nervously while he waited for somepony. "We're here, and thank Luna and Celestia we are all alive!" A pony said as she cantered up to Silt. She was wearing armor, but sounded like Sapphire Swirl. Silt gazed in wonder at the armor and was envious. She wouldn't have to worry about timber wolves during her stay. The armor reminded him of a description from a story he heard once from his mother, who was a travelling bard. It was, Nightmare Moon's armor? Silt couldn't remember who Nightmare Moon was. He had only been a foal when the story was told to him. That and living in a forest away from towns and villages almost all of his life, Silt wasn't too familiar with things most ponies would consider common knowledge. "Silt, I found the pony and he needs attention, quick! Unfortunately the Diamond Dog knocked herself unconscious so we better get them inside!" Sapphire shouted over the rain and thunder. Another pony in trouble? Silt glanced at the mare's back and, indeed, saw a pony in major trouble. He was thinking of what herbs he would need for a pony with advanced hypothermia when Sapphire mentioned the Diamond Dog. "D-dog?! Sapphire, what do you mean-?" Silt jumped a little at the news, and the sight of Stormwing approaching with a dog on his back. "N-no. No! I - I won't have one of those, those predators, in my house! I have an injured mare down there, and now this pony to tend to!" Silt shook at the thought of a dog, teeth and claws all to vivid in his imagination, in his home.
5. Before Caymellow could reply, Silt had a sensation similar to somepony poking his flank. The colt looked over his shoulder, then up to the roof of the cavern. Roots from the tree above, his tree, poked through the ceiling. He felt the poking again. Yes, something was definitely knocking on the trunk. Silt knew this, he has had a connection with this particular plant ever since it was a seedling. Well, how could you not after pouring so much of your own magic, so much of yourself, into something? "Excuse me," Silt said before cantering past the luminescent mushrooms and up the dirt stairs. Was it Storming or Sapphire? Had they come back? He had no way of knowing, as trees don't have eyes, only the ability to feel sensations. Silt summoned his magic, bathing the dirt walls in a shocking green, to loosen the twisted trunk to allow his friends passage into his home. "Hey! I'm glad-" The sight before Silt stopped him short. Who was this creature? It was a... hamster? Yes, a hamster in armor. Questions bubbled immediately in Silt's mind. How did this hamster find his tree, and how did he know to knock? The colt's first instinct was to tighten the trunk and go hide, but the visitor seemed quite miserable in its wet fur, and Silt was sure that hamsters were herbivores. "Can I... help you?" Silt asked. Better to find out this visitor's intentions before letting him inside.
6. Pull the cart? Pyper frowned at the thought of such a thing. It was only fair, she supposed, but her build was not for pulling heavy carts. The group started to move out and Pyper spread her wings to gently float above the group while she strummed her lyre and sang. "With heads held high departed the group And such a motley crew they appeared to be The city stallion, to keep them on route Following for gain were three. First, a unicorn, the colour of rock Surely her magic was mighty But when she spoke, there were no jokes Though quick to the wit as any. Secondly came the steel A griffon, quite dashing in green Though charming now, I must say I'm sure her enemies run away. Floating above with her lyre The third, a winged mare Truly a one-pony choir Seemed to have no place there Though her songs shall inspire. Lead them on stallion, only you know the way Their talents are yours, for the following days Bring them to adventure and treasure Though danger of any measure And occasionally a mouthful of hay."
7. Silt stood in the vast plains outside of Appalosa. The sun shown brightly overhead and warmed the colt's flank as he pawed the dust. A shadow moved across the ground, its wings distorted by the dips and groves of the plains. Looking up, Silt saw the figure silhouetted against the sun. Slowly it began to descend and the form grew bigger. It was a pegasus, a mare. She landed upon the ground and Silt ran to her; nuzzling up against her light lavender coat and standing on tip toe to bury his face in her long, royal purple mane. "You're home!" he smiled at the tall, willowy mare. She smiled back, then pressed into the ground and took off with enough force to shake the earth beneath Silt. The world trembled and began to crumble around him. He panicked and began running, jumping from one stone mass to the next in an attempt to avoid falling into the dark abyss. The unicorn colt called out to the mare, but she was gone. His hooves slipped on the rocks and he began to tumble, down into the dark - into the gaping maw of wolves that growled and snapped and - Silt Treble woke up with a start. A cold sweat had settled upon him and he sat for awhile and breathed. He was in his home in the Everfree, there was a mare named Caymellow, whom he had helped earlier, and there was a storm outside. There were other ponies he knew too - a winged mare and stallion by the names of Sapphire Swirl and Stormwing. Silt touched the scars on his chest, thinking of his dream wolves, and wondered for their safety. How long had they been out in the forest while he had slept? A feeling rose in him to go after them, but he already had a patient to tend to. The mare was already awake and about. Standing and moving closer to the spring, Silt took a long drink to clear his head before asking the mare, "Feeling better?"
8. (I haven't been very concerned about a posting order, but I've been trying to wait until everypony has had a chance to post so that they can stay part of the story.) "I can swallow and keep it down." Caymellow examined the flowers Silt Treble had left for her. The colt smiled at the long-maned pegasus and busied himself with finding a long, flat stone whilst the mare ate the red flower and drank water while waiting for its effects to enter her system. The unicorn colt searched the bed of the spring from which he had gotten water earlier. Many stones littered the bottom, and he was sure that he would find an ideal stone there. That, and the cool water would chill the stones. A cold stone would help reduce any swelling on the wing, and numb it slightly too. Sure enough the colt spotted a rock towards the deeper part of the pool that was a little shorter than he would've liked, but it would have to do. "How are you feeling Miss Caymellow?" Silt asked as he used his magic to retrieve the stone. Not hearing a reply, Silt turned to examine the mare and saw her sleeping gently upon his bed of moss. 'I'll have to work quickly, before the effects wear off.' Silt trotted to the mare and examined her wing closely. It could've been much worse, but it seemed that there were only two mane breaks in the wing; although he couldn't be sure if there were smaller fractures that he couldn't see. Silt steeled his nerves and pressed hard on the wing to straighten the bones. They cracked loudly in response to his hooves, the unicorn shuddered and hoped dearly that Caymellow wasn't able to feel any pain. With the bones in place against the stone, Silt retrieved one of the few types of seeds he carried in his dirty, dark green mane - ivy. Placing the seed on Caymellow's wing, Silt concentrated hard on his magic until his horn glowed a bright green. The seed slowly sprouted, then grew rapidly in the rush of energy it stole from Silt; binding tightly the broken wing to the flat stone so that it would heal properly and allow the mare to fly again one day. Silt fell back on his flank after the last vine secured itself in place. The unicorn was exhausted from giving the seed that much energy. It wasn't like the flowers, that only needed to bloom. The vines needed to have the strength to hold out until Caymellow could make it out of the forest or until her wing healed. Whichever came first. With shaky legs Silt walked slowly to the spring's edge and drank deeply. He laid next to his small hay pile and ate a few bites to quite the rumble in his belly, then closed his eyes for a nap. Before he could drift into dreams, a particularly loud thunderclap from the surface shook the tree above him. Silt thought of the ponies on the surface and how much rain must be falling on the forest. He allowed that pleasant thought of rain to accompany him as he finally drifted off to sleep.
9. (No worries, Lightning! It's good to see you back ) "A-another pony...?" Silt asked, but Sapphire Swirl had already ascended the dirt stairs and back into the forest. The thought of more ponies slightly unnerved the colt. He was a skittish pony as it was, but crowds made him even more uncomfortable. It was the mane reason why he stayed in the wilderness and away from towns or villages. In fact, having just the pegasus mare there made Silt feel comfortable enough to talk without stuttering too much. But the colt wasn't very good at making small talk, so he stuck with talking about what he knew. Maybe the mare might be interested in it, if she wasn't it too much pain. "Oh! Miss, eh, Caymellow was it? Please don't strain yourself." The colt's horn glowed bright green again as his magic jumpstarted the growth of the seeds into strong, healthy plants. Raising a hoof, Silt wiped the sweat from his brow and brought the three flowers he had grown to Caymellow. "If it's okay, I'd like to help you. This," Silt pushed towards the mare a droopy, purple flower, "will knock you out for awhile so you don't feel any pain when I set your wing." Silt motioned towards a red flower that, upon closer examination, was actually a cluster of smaller flowers and a droopy blue flower with yellow spots around the middle of it; then explained their uses respectively. "This one will help fight off infection, and this one is a painkiller, but not as powerful as the purple one so you can stay awake." An idea struck Silt then, and he cantered to the seed wall to retrieve a wooden bowl. "You should drink some water, if you can. Those plants will dehydrate you." The colt told Caymellow as he filled the bowl at the spring. Water from the ceiling dripped onto his earth-covered coat, washing just enough away to reveal the mortar and pestle cutie mark that hid beneath the dirt. Setting the water next to the mare Silt continued, "I'd have just the purple flower, for now. You can have the others after you've had a bit of hay, if you can stomach it."
10. The sudden appearance of the dog almost had Silt Treble bolting off into the trees. He was very cowardly and did not like predatory creatures, oh no, and he envied Stormwing's courage to confront the canine even though he could hear the tremble in the stallion's voice. "Get her out of here." Stormwing hissed to them, and Silt was more than happy to leave. "Just knock." Silt whispered back, and lead black pegasus and the cloud-carried mare down the steps into the tree. As soon as the mares were safely inside, the tree twisted back up and plunged the three into darkness. It did not last, however, as the group got use to the lack of light they would find that it wasn't as dark as they thought. Dotted on the dirt ceiling and walls were luminescant mushrooms that gave off a very faint blue glow that was enough for the ponies to watch their steps. Down, down they went. It wasn't really that long of a passageway, but the darkness and the confinement of the underground was enough to trigger Silt's claustrophobia. Soon enough, though, the dirt tunnel opened up into a natural, underground cave tall enough to house the tree that hid the entrance and large enough to accommodate up to five ponies. More of the mushrooms grew here on the cave's ceiling and in dirt patches speckled on the limestone floor. Their hoofsteps echoed off the dry stone as the group ventured further in. Water dripped from stalactites into an underground spring, that the ponies would find cool but refreshing should they care to have a taste, and close to the spring was a small store of dried grass that Silt had collected over time for emergency food. Further in, nestled between a ring of stalagmites was a large patch of spongy moss - Silt's bed. "If you can, lay her down here." Silt motioned towards the moss and trotted to a wall behind the moss devoid of mushrooms, and so was very well hidden had Silt not then approached it with his horn aglow. Different seeds in neat little piles dotted the wall in places that would hold them. Silt examined these seeds thoughtfully before selecting three of them.
11. "Lead on, friend." The stallion, Stormwing, nodded to Silt. The small colt didn't waste any time in leaving, he really didn't want to be around when the wolves showed up. "My name is Silt Treble, by the way." he told the winged ponies as he lead them through the underbrush. His horn glowed shocking green as he used his magic to coax raised roots into the ground temporarily and for long branches to lift themselves out of the way to ease their passage with the injured mare. As they progressed, the forest moved back to where it was so that there was no sign of their passing. Silt led the group deeper into the heart of the forest. The trees grew thicker and the forest canopy became so dense that light struggled to get through. Not that this would matter when the rain came - if anything, the water would keep coming for awhile after the storm stopped because the water would get trapped and be delayed in its fall. Silt eventually found the tree he was looking for, an ancient one who's trunk looked like it was made of other trees twisted together. He wouldn't be able to tell the other ponies the name of it, being uneducated, but Silt had taken care of this tree since it was a seedling and it had grown fast under his care. "We're here." The colt said and touched the base of the tree again with his horn. The trunk twisted upon itself to reveal a set of packed dirt stairs leading into the earth. The stairwell would be just wide enough for them, if they went in single file, and Caymellow would be able to fit through on her cloud with some careful pushing.
12. (OOC: yay! ) Silt Treble cantered through his home, the Everfree forest, almost giddy with anticipation. The young colt's ears pricked to listen to the whispers of the wind through the trees as they gossiped about the oncoming storm. Silt tossed his wildly styled dark green mane and breathed the humid air deeply. He loved rain, as it was so good for the plants that he tended to in the forest with the help of his magic. So giddy was he that he almost went right by two ponies. In fact, the colt had to stop and do a double take. Few ponies lived in the Everfree, the only other he knew of was Zecora, but even she lived on the outskirts of the forest closer to Ponyville, and even fewer dared the foreboding trees in search of adventure. Silt crept closer to the ponies; he was sure his dark purple coat blended him into the shadoows and would help him not be spotted should they turn out to be unfriendly. Both pegasus ponies he could see, but why were they on the ground and not flying over the trees? Ah, he could see it now as the stallion of the pair pushed a cloud towards the other pony, who he could see was hurt. Oh dear, what to do? Silt pawed the ground nervously and watched the ponies. That mare needed help, and he was sure he could be of use with his knowledge of herblore, but what would they think of him? Living in the Everfree didn't exactly do much good for Silt's appearance - he looked like a crazy pony and he knew it, with his neglected mane sticking up everywhere and dirt covering most of his coat. He was also terribly shy and didn't know what he would say to the ponies should he actually go and help them. Wind picked up in the trees again and Silt listened to what they had to say. What they said made his stomach drop and the scars on his chest ache with memories of the ghosts of his past. His excitement from earlier turned to fear, he wasn't the only one in the forest to notice the mare's distress. Steeling his nerves, Silt cantered into the clearing towards the pegasus ponies and stuttered, "Is-is she okay?" The small unicorn asked the winged stallion and looked around at the trees, hoping that they were safe for now. "Can you move her? You need to leave, it's not safe here," as if to reinforce Silt's words, a wolf's howl sounded through the trees. "I'll- I'll help you, I know someplace safe..."
13. (Hello! Still accepting ponies? I'd like to join in with my colt Silt Treble. )
14. So, uh, who's after SRBG? If they come back they should definitely post, but it's been almost a week now... I miss camp!
15. "I am indeed nomadic," Pyper smiled at the Arcana, deciding not to take offense to being called 'a droll sort'. "But I hope to not only account for the events to take place in songs, for my array of skills might surprise you. After all, you are simply venturing out into the wilds, while I call them home." "Looks like there's four of us. Will that be enough Mister C?" Zelda fluttered her eyelashes at Curio, something Pyper did not miss. This did seem like an interesting bunch, sure to make for a good story! The mare smiled again as she retrieved a green and brown splattered travelling cloak from her saddlebags and pulled it around her frame. The fire was enough to keep her warm, but the group seemed eager to set off. Pyper also took out her lyre and gently began to play a wordless, lilting tune in the hopes of starting the journey out on the right hoof; with the party in high spirits.
16. Ingrid Marie's suggestion seemed like a good possibility, and Silt nodded to show his consideration. When he thought about it, it was a lot to ask of the counselor. "Thank you Miss Marie. I'm sure my Great Grandsire would come if I asked him, he wanted to come with me today, but I know that the trip from Stalliongrad would be hard on him and I had to assure him I'd be fine on my own. My mum would be happy to come too, if she got back in time from the Badlands." Silt smiled and tossed his green tangle of a mane out of his eyes. "But you'll be there anyways, right? I'll study hard for the exam so I don't let you down." Looking up, Silt noticed how much lower the sun was from when he had first arrived. He had taken quite a bit of the counselor's time and, knowing she must be a busy pony, said, "Thanks again for your help, I'm going to stay here for a little bit longer and look at the pamphlets before going to the library. I hope you have a good day, Miss Marie."
17. "That would be AWESOME! You can show me later. Do they always appear in your mane like that or could you make a flower appear in your mouth?" "Eh, what?" Silt's mind was sluggish in processing Fresco's words, he was to focused on the apple that Razor annihilated; imagining it was his flank instead. He pressed himself further to the ground to the point he was lying down. Fear coursed through him at the thought of the griffon and he second guessed attending his survival class. 'I told Glimmer I would go though, I can't let her down...' Silt thought and swallowed past a hard lump in his throat. "I-I don't think I could make a flower just appear." Silt mumbled to Fresco, focusing his blue eyes on the grass around his hooves. His intense fear had started to unleash his magic and cause the grass around him to start growing steadily. This happened when he was frightened, or surprised, or very angry. Any powerful emotion lessened his control over his magic, and he tried hard to stop the grass from growing before anypony noticed and he got in trouble. "It's difficult to make plants just appear. My- my mane has seeds in it." Silt itched his mane then, and a bit of dirt and a sunflower seed fell to the ground. "I know it's dirty, and most ponies disapprove of that, but I can carry around seeds like that and they won't rot. Those flowers came from those seeds, my magic just made them grow very fast."
18. Silt nodded his head in thanks and looked back out over the campus. His eyes slowly drifted to the skies, and he wondered if his mother, Pyper Uscroll, would be back in time to watch him take the exam at the end of the month. Perhaps he would invite his great grandsire, who would be more than happy to visit. But the stallion's old bones probably couldn't make the trip out. He turned to see if Ingrid Marie was still there and she was, but the mare had already turned to leave. "Um, Miss Marie? If it's not to much to ask, if you're not judging or working or anything the day of my exam, would you come with me?" Silt mumbled quietly, a bit embarassed of the question, though he didn't know why. The colt stared at the dark purple fur covering his hooves as he waited for an answer.
19. Brilliant! I only have two at the moment, so one post will be enough for me.
20. Speak of the devil and he shall appear! Thanks for your help Bellosh, it's appreciated. So, the RP logs, they're forum posts? Just, the main posting is for the character and their rps? Seems simple enough, I'll have to make one for my characters. Or is it just one overall for all characters? A hosting service, I see. I've tried using html on the site before but it didn't work out as well as I hoped. Let me try with something small of mine... Edit: Aaaaaah~yaya! It works! Thanks for that!
21. Hello! I've notice a couple things on the site, and would like to maybe get some clarification? First, the RP log. I've seen this on my profile, and others' too, and I'm not exactly sure what it is. Something I use to record the rps a specific character has been in? If this is so, then how do I go about building something like that? Also, I've noticed that some users, when they post, manage to put pictures up of their ponies above their posts to give others a better understanding of the character's appearance. (Bellosh does this a lot) How can I do this too, without getting that weird "spoiler" dropdown box? Or is that only because the picture is big, and it's to save space? Or is it because you have to use the 'attach files' option at the bottom of a post before posting it? I would love to have anypony's help on this! Thank you!
