Oh well since I found my old art thread I might as well revive it to post my latest take on some character art ... or well I'm not if you want to call it "character art" seeing how there's barely any character there xD Anyhow, here you go. Erhay Hartmane with his Messerschmitt Bf-109 G-6 during the war. Comments and critique apprechiated PS. I seem to have made a mistake with the title, as I can't change it anymore. Hmn to be honest I haven't really thought about this too much, but yeah, the main jobs I had in mind there were the rather smaller ones, and maybe the ones that you had some actual contact with the other players ... so not something like engineer in the engine room xD

Oh I could go on and try to answer that with some doodle of a set of controls that I made all the way back for Richthoofs aircraft ... but I think it may just be easier to just leave it to the supspention of disbelief. But if you really want to know, I can always sketch out whats in my head for that plothole xD
  8. Well there we go, my second character I actually wrote an entire application for. I don't know I just had fun taking an actual ace as a base. If I get the time (and a good idea) I'll put in a bit more info and thus more distance to the actual base character. I'm also really lacking the idea for a cutie mark. But for now I'll just put the "Personality" thing on WIP, because I feel that's kind of a necessary topic to have included in these descriptions. And once more I'll say that I do not support what happened in WWII in any way, I just like history. PS: For all of you passing by I'd apprechiate if you left a comment, I'm pretty sure there's stuff I left out and stuff that's badly written. ------- Roleplay Type: Crossover Name: Erhay Hartmane Nickname: "Fohlen (Foal)" by his comrades, because he was comparatively young and young-looking during his time with the Luftwaffe. "Shark" by his opponents, simply because of the sharkmouth that he had painted onto his fighter. However the latter obviously vanished rather quickly after the war. Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Earth Pony Eye Colour: Brown Coat Colour: Brown to a Light Brown Mane/Tail/Markings Colour & Style: Blonde. The only thing notable about his hairstyle might be that Hartmane does wear a rather short tail. Common practice amongst pilots, since a lot of hair might just get in the way of instruments, or get tangle up in the yoke. Physique: Hartmane has an average figure. However over the years of performing steep dives followed by sharp turns and climbs while flying Hartmane grew quite a bit of resistance to G forces. Furthermore the constant missions (up to three a day) let him build up a lot of stamina. Cutie mark: Up to now Hartmane has not received his mark. Which doesn't really bother him anymore at this point, seeing how he didn't have time to go after that so far. Origin: Schimmelach, Germane Occupation: Hartmane served with the Luftwaffe down in Trotbruk, later on he fought in the famous Battle of Stalliongrad, and by the end of the war the stallion found himself over Germane defending the fatherland. Furthermore the pilot was heavily involved in a coup d'état by the end of the war. The coup was staged by several high ranking officers and was meant to replace their leader with a new one. Hoping that this would actually help to turn the tide of the war, Hartmane and most of the squadron he was serving in joined the coup. Unfortunately for him the plan backfired and Germane fell just a few months of fighting after. As Germane had lost the war Hartmane retired from the armed forces and started work as a flight instructor of all sorts, a job which he enjoys doing. Motivation: Hartmane's initial motivation to learn how to fly was his interest in engined flight, more so the aerobatics he saw at several airshows in his younger days. By his early twenties however he was conscripted to the armed forces. Luckily his background in aviation allowed him to join the Luftwaffe, where as he was trained to fly the Messerschmitt Bf109. From thereon the young stallion drew fascination from air combat, fighting with a "Fly with your brain, not your muscels" attitude, which possibly saved him numerous times. However in the end his main motivation during the war was simply surival. Nowadays he is once more driven by his fascination for flight. Character Summary: Hartmane was born into a comparatively average family, with his father being a doctor and his mother a flight instructor. His mother eventually trained him in flying gliders, which he did for a fair bit of his free time until the war broke out. As stated above Hartmane was then pulled into the air force by order and trained to fly one of the most modern fighters of its time, the Messerschmitt Bf-109. The young pilot had the luck of being put into a squadron of comparatively high-skilled pilots. They taught him a lot over the course of the war, most importantly the "boom and zoom" tactics. These would later become Hartmane's trademark, as, unlike some of his squadmates, the stallion was not a master in aiming with the Schmitt's on-board guns. The pilot would later on define his tactics as follows "Dive - Attack - Break Away - Coffee Break - Repeat". By the end of the war those tactics had allowed Hartmane to amass an incredible number of 352 aerial victories, making him the highest scoring pilot up to this point. Close to the end of the war, Hartmane then got himself involved in a coup d'état, which had the main goal of assasinating their head of the state. However this was actually less due to the political opinion of said leader, but much more owing to the fact that he was not good at leading a war. The pilot thus spent a major part of last few months of the war either flying bomber escorts for the little aircraft that his squadron had involved in the coup, or flying bombing runs on political targets himself. Unfortunaly all effort was for nothing, because by the time that they'd completely overthrown the old regime, their enemy was already so far inland that the only thing left for the new government to do was to surrender. The coup's plan backfired on them. Thus Hartmane eventually fled the country alongside some of his teammates, settling for a small town outside of Canterlot, teaching all sorts of ponies how to fly (this is not limited to aircraft, as he's rather teaching techniques and the theory of general flight). Personality: Hartmane is generally a well mannered pony. He is slightly introverted, usually seeking refuge in the sky just flying and enjoying the beauty of the surroundings. Most of the time the stallion shows quite some courage, something that he had built up during his time in the Luftwaffe. However as courageous as he might seem, the pilot would never put himself into any unnecessary risks or any situation that he feels incapable of handling ("Fly with your brain, not your muscles"). On the other hand Hartmane can get rather arrogant, this is partially owing to his high score and reputation that he built up over the course of the war. And last but not least Hartmane is a charmer to say the least. Other: Hartmane absolved his first few hours of flight with the family owned Glider. A plane that he actually owns to this day. He still admires the glider for it's good flying capabilities, despite the age. In engined flight and combat Hartmane was trained on the Bf109 Emil series, later on however converted to the Gustav series. With the G-6 being the one that he had the most flight time and experience on. Hartmane fled from Germane with his G-6 fighter, which is why he still owns that machine, albeit obviously unarmed. Nowadays he is still using it in training with some of his students. During the coup Hartmane was hastily instructed on how to fly the Dornier Do335 Pfeil, a fast and heavy bomber-fighter aircraft. While he liked the sheer power and speed that the Pfeil was capable of putting out, Hartmane often said that he hated to fight in the Do335. Hartmane furthermore aquired a Bf108, the four seated predecessor of the 109, which he uses as a trainer for his flight school.
  9. Well since I’ve been playing way too much IL-2 and Ace Combat lately, does anypony have any interest in playing an RP that sort of goes along the lines of those? As in being part of a squadron, going on various missions, etc. I imagined it to take place in a bit of a more futuristic Equestria, where those nice metal-birds -which I love way too much- roam and rule the skies. We’d start off in the training grounds (learning how to fly takes some time after all), moving on to the actual frontline later on. Well that’s the idea. It’s sort of WWII air war, but in Equestria. Playing the average days and missions of a pilot. I think this may work out better in a two player group, but of course if there’s actually enough of you interested, we might as well play it as a larger one. Now I hope somepony’s interested (eventhough this idea may be a bit bizzare), if so please notify me, so that I can get this set up soon Actually, thinking about it (as I'm writing this) maybe a less war-esque version could be that the squad is actually there to fend off some of the dangers that Equestria seems to bring with itself (i.e. Villains, Monsters and co.) ... actually I think this may work out better in the context. That is if we can come up with some good dangers to face and defeat. Greetings, Richt PS: An actual story-arc to follow after the training sessions (if needed) would still have to be made up. PPS: Well since I'm still not sure about it and since I still couldn't find anything about it (albeit I'll admit that I didn't search for very long); I have a little question about the Crossover-Section, eversince that free-RP zone joined up with it. Does one actually still require an accepted OC to play here?   10. Well about time for me to do that update on the concept. Now I figured we might need a bit of a more specific look on the plane's decks. So here you go, I know it's not that much, but I think it's enough to work with. Furthermore I'm not quite sure on how to start with this one ^^; Should I just go ahead and write a post and we'll see from there? ------- Auxilary Wings and Engine Compartments: - High above everything else aboard the three auxilary wings tower. Large metal (The largest of them meassuring 180ft) constructs to hold the 38 engines that heave the behemoth out of the water and into the air. Inside the auxilary wings a small compartment for the engineers as well as the spare engines is located. Passengers have no access to this area. Cockpit Deck: - Roughly 90ft above the ground lies the control room for the whole aircraft, furthermore the captain's quarters and the officer's rooms can be found there as well. Because of its 45ft width, the huge glass front and the use of engine telegraphs, the room actually resembles the bridge of a ship more than it does any conventional cockpit found in smaller aircraft. Nonetheless the direct control of the giant still follows the basic control scheme seen in aviation. Namely a yoke and pedals, in this case provided for two seats at the very front of the cockpit. Passengers have no access to this area. Deck 8: - Deck Eight is the highest deck that passengers have access to and one of three decks that expand all the way into the outer wing (~1000ft wide). Alongside with Deck Six it is furthermore one of the decks where most the passenger's cabins are located. Mostly in the wing sections, as the middle section is generally reserved for the public rooms. The Colossus basically offers rooms in two different classes, first and second. The third class or the possibility to travel in the steerage are absent on this vessel. However in addition to the first and second class rooms there is also the possibility to travel in one of the royal suites. Both are built into the swimmers of the ship, and feature their own "balcony". All in all the aircraft carries room for roughly 1000 passengers. The most remarkable features of Deck Eight however are the two, richly decorated, glass domes that hang majestically above either staircases located within the swimmers. Promenade Deck: -As the name suggests the Promenade Deck holds a large wooden floored promenade that goes along the whole wings full circle. Big windows on the leading edges of the wing allow for a maximal amount of light to shine trough and illuminate the course, as well as making for a great view on the outside world. Aside from that the deck holds the main restaurant of the vessel. Finally the deck is also home to two bars, the Portside and the Aileron Bar. One, as the name says, located on far end of the port wing, the other one in the same location on the starboard wing. Deck Six: - Deck Six, like Deck Eight, holds the majority of the passenger's rooms. For the most part the second class rooms. Deck Five: - Deck Five is the only non-wing deck that only features cabins for the passengers. It is also where the decks start to split up because of their location in the swimmers. Hence there are a starboard and a port version to every deck from there on, depending on which staircase one descends. Deck Four: - Deck Four is where Passengers can find the baths and wellness facilities of the aircraft. White marble walls and pillars are a dead giveaway for this deck. The two royal suites are also located here, sporting their own access to the Marble Staircases and their own veranda. Boat Deck: - The Boat Deck is the part of the aeroplane that carries the emergency equipment and lifeboats, furthermore there are two small seaplanes stored here as well. Aside from that Boat Deck is usually the main entry point for all the passengers, as the reception is located there as well. Lastly a big portion of the crew's quarters can be found here. Main Fuel Storage & Cargo Deck: - Below the waterline, in the very buttom areas of the swimmers two large halls are found. Both mainly there to store all the supplies for the flight, such as food or drinkables. Though these spaces are also reserved for the postal service as well as passengers who wish to take larger objects with themselves, i.e. vehicles. Passengers have no access to this area. Orlop Deck: - The Orlop Deck is where most the wiring of the vessel come together. Basically it is nothing more than about 2ft of room just below the Cargo Deck. Passengers have no access to this area. ------ Middle Section (All three wing-decks): -The middle section is the main public place aboard the vessel. Here a large sun deck, a library, and even a ballroom can be found. Furthermore there are three buffets for breakfast and lunch.
  11. Ah well I'm thinking more of the design of the big old steamers. For the interior that is. Possibly mixed with some modern elements.

Cleaned a lot actually xD But of course there's also other jobs aboard if you don't want to be cruel to Techno, I'm pretty sure there's something suitable, if you want to keep her in Actually, no. I didn't even know that site existed up to now (but thanks for the link). All I did here was just to supersize the Bel Gaddes Airliner 4. Hence the even more ridiculous amout of engines, as previously stated somewhere around here xD I actually have some other concepts as well, and a rather long one that features flying cities, but apart from that more or less ordinary aircraft, mainly props and zepplins. Well I'll count you in then ^^ Poor Dusty ---- Alright, that was more interest than I thought I would encounter ^^; I'll get onto this asap, but as you know how it is with your average weeks you've got all the other stuff obscuring your creative process. Of course if you have me some tips or ideas of your own to implement I'll gladly listen to you
  13. Glad to hear that ^^ Now you made me curious though, what kind of OC did you have in mind? Well actually there was a plane in Tailspin that fits this here more than the Spruce Moose (at least in the looking department, as I think it was the Moose that was equipped like a ship in the show), it was basically a parodied version of Bel Geddes' Airliner #4 (Which this here sort of is too .. it's basically just a scaled up version of the airliner, with an even more ridiculous amount of engines). Ahhh ... good old nostalgia. --- Now, since we have some interest in this I'll go ahead and start writing some more detailed stuff, and eventually some concept, in order for us to get this thing started up as soon as possible

It's nice to see that you have some interest in this, so if you still do once you have a character approoved, just let me know here (Then again I'm not really sure if you need one approoved for these RPs here, with the new forum structure) Anyhow, about the naming. No I'm not really sure, but much less because of that Titanic thing and much more because of "Colossus" not really sounding elegant or anything at all xD Besides if I really wanted to make a Titanic refference it'd be called the Titan
