1. (OOC: That sounds good! Makes sense to, considering it's been eight months. I think I'll just pull an easy card and claim the rest of my remaining Raptors are helping with the finishing bits of the construction.)
2. The stallion in question silently hovered out of the sky above Spitfire, landing gently behind her, and speaking in his normal pitch, startling her a little, "It's finally taking shape." Was all he said as he stepped forward to stand alongside Spitfire, chuckling as the mare punched his shoulder in retaliation, "Just saw Drisk and his Griffons off. They send their farewells." Carmus glances over towards Shrike, who himself was struggling to keep his temper in check with two of his squad members. The generally irate sergeant had declined the promotion to Captain, claiming he didn't want to keep track of so many more ponies than he was used to. Carmus chuckled, looking back to Spitfire and giving her a kiss on the cheek, "How are you feeling?" (OOC: Aaaand my mind as for what Shimmer and the rest are doing is blanking. Drat.)
3. I have faith in the dice system. The one used by the other FoE RP that I've participated in has worked pretty well so far, though it's only combat application at this point has been a brawling match
4. Denim had remained silent throughout the exchange, getting lost in the architecture of the classroom. She came back to reality with a small jolt, "Wait, we're in space??" Obviously, she'd only heard a few bits and pieces of te conversation.
5. The song ended, as did the rain. Carmus smiled as the days of sunlight began to burst forth through the clouds. He nodded solemnly to Horizon as he passed. Carmus would have placed a hoof on his fellow Captain's shoulder (I am assuming Horizon is a Captain, I forget if mentioned that directly. If not, then congratulations Horizon, you've been promoted), had Spitfire not been holding them. After Horizon and his Squad had left, he looked down to Spitfire, and she gave him a kiss that lasted for a decent period of time. She released him, stating that she would miss them, and that they should get some rest, Jet-Stream having told her about a memorial dinner that evening, "I'll miss them to," Carmus said, following her to the exit, "Come on then.. I think a nap sounds wonderful right now." Shimmer stayed by the graves, hugging Time, for a few minutes more, before the Griffins began to fill them in. After they did, she released the unicorn and turned to leave, "Let's get going." As the left and the Griffon soldiers shoveled the loose earth into the graves, the sky continued to clear, the sun's rays catching the water droplets on the leaves and blades of grass, causing the graveyard to gleam.
6. Shimmer chuckled, poking Time in the ribs, "Ha! Oh, don't worry. I'll be gentle.." The steel grey mare's eyes widened slightly when Flash mentioned having a crush on her. She might have even blushed a little, but she got over it, laughing quietly along with his chuckling. Velocity gave them all one last nod before Flash's remark to Time and his sister fully registered to him. He looked over at the pony he considered his best friend with a surprised look, "Wait, what?!" He said in a fake angry tone as the spell finally, wore off. Carmus wrapped his forelegs around Spitfire and held her close as she let her sorrows out. He was singing softly, an old song from the days of the original Sentinels, a song in honor of those departed. Shimmer listened to him for a bit before joining in, her contralto voice complimenting his baritone. The Raptors and Griffins who were present stayed silent for a time, until eventually the Raptors joined in, followed shortly by the Griffon soldiers.
7. Denim waves a dismissive hoof at Jack, "Aah, don't worry about me. I've fallen from greater heights than this." She glances down at him upon hearing his question. She furrows her brow when she sees him inspecting what looked like a large watch on his foreleg, "Most important date in history, huh? There's plenty of them that are coming to me right off the top of my head. Why do you want to know?"
8. Velocity shook his head, chuckling, "If that were the case Horizon, it would kind of defeat the purpose of Caelum, wouldn't it?" Shimmer blinked a few tears from her eyes. Wiping her foreleg across her face, she responded, "Spitfire's right... But still... Thanks again," She smiled, then laughed, "Though I think Time would have gotten a little jealous about the whole CPR thing..." she nudged the Unicorn stallion playfully as she said this. Velocity laughed at Flashbomb and Horizon's comments, "And an honorable one, I like to think." When the spell began to fade, Carmus held Spitfire a little closer, and Shimmer leaned into Time. Velocity smirked at them, and laughed quietly as Flash gave spoke. Velocity seemed to remember something, "Oh, hey! Carmus, Spitfire! Argon wanted me to pass something on to you two. First off, congrats. But secondly, he had a message for Shrike. He wanted you guys to tell the Sergeant he still owes the Doc a drink." Velocity chuckles and winks at them. Carmus laughs, "Tell the Doc I said thanks... And we'll pass the message along, don't you worry." Velocity smiled, "Good luck with everything, All of you. Like I told Lyria, I'll save all of you a spot at the table." The Sentinel laughed at Flashbomb's question about haunting them, "That could be fun! I'm sure they won't mind, eh guys?" He felt the spell flicker once more and silenced himself, standing to attention and giving the ponies standing before him a salute, one which his siblings returned. The three of them spoke as if in one voice, "Until we meet for the last time."
9. Carmus returned the smile to Spitfire. When Horizon said his name in a rather uncertain voice, he turned, and what he saw took his breath away. From the headstone, had walked a ghostly image of Velocity. The apparition spoke with his brother's voice, and looked exactly like him... Because it was him. Or at least a projection. Velocity grinned at Horizon and Spitfire, chuckling, "Yup! Dawn's pretty cool that way, y'know?" He looks over as Flash finally pulls through as well, chuckling when he comments on their facial expressions, "See? I told you!" Horizon spoke, "Velocity, I should have stayed by your side....I could have helped......I could have stopped thunder Swift...but i was blinded by the battle....." Velocity shook his head at Horizon, "Aah, don't worry about it, you did what you had to. I knew what I was getting into... There was no need for you to get yourself into that kind of danger." Shimmer, after getting over the initial shock, steps towards Flash and her Brother, holding a hoof out towards them despite the heat radiating off of them, "Are you... corporeal? I mean... am I able to hug you...?" Velocity shook his head sadly, "Unfortunately... No, but I definitely would, were it possible." Shimmer nodded in understanding, though she was still pretty dissappointed. She looked over to Flash, "Hey... I already said this, but I just want to make sure that you get to hear me say it... Thanks, for pulling me out of the dark. I probably wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for you." Velocity noticed Lyria a little ways off, saluting them. He smiled and nodded to her, returning the salute. The Sentinel watched her rise into the air and create the large pond nearby the graves. The Raptors and Griffons nearby watched as well, with varying levels of surprise at the sudden event. one of the Griffins made the comment, "Well... That's certainly one way of doing it." This caused Velocity to nearly burst out laughing, but he held back his mirth, lest he ruin the moment. Carmus steps up alongside Spitfire, placing a wing around her. Despite his best efforts, he is misty eyed as well. Velocity turned his attention to them, and giving a sly grin, "Would it be strange if I said that I expected this to happen at some point?" he chuckles lightly.
10. Carmus and Shimmer both stepped up to the graves after Spitfire. Carmus looked at the casket containing his brother, "Rest easy bud... You've earned this rest. Say hi to the rest of the family for me, huh?" He glanced over at the headstones of his second brother and parents. His father had been killed by a group of very aggressive Diamond Dogs, and his mother passed away due to declining health. His second brother had been killed rescuing his teammates after they were trapped by the poor judgement of his commanding officer. He gave his brother and Flashbomb one last salute before turning around to stand with Spitfire. Shimmer stood by Flash's grave, smiling sadly at the casket, "Thank you, Flash... For everything. Have a good rest." She to saluted them and went back to Time, resting her head on his shoulder for a second before turning to face the graves of her family, both blood and otherwise. (OOC: I'm assuming if we are going to do this before the end, Now's as good a time as any.) The Sentinel insignia emblazoned in the center of both gravestones, one Pegasus hovering and another crouched before that one, both with wings outspread as if guarding somepony behind them, glowed. Faintly, at first, but it grew in intensity for a few seconds before the light shifted its form into that of a pony. A ghostlike Velocity pulled himself from the stone. He grinned, "Well, well Carmus. Spitfire, huh?" He chuckled, "And you, Time... Hope you realize how lucky you are to have gotten Shim's favour! She isn't an easy mare to impress." The ghostly stallion laughs, looking to the grave a small distance from his, "Hey! Flash! Come check this out! The looks on their faces are priceless!" He looks back to the group before them, "Now, I know you're wondering, 'what in Tatarus is going on here?!', so allow me to explain. It's Alicorn magic. Dawn, to be exact. We ran into her here, And as pulled few strings, I suppose you could say, to allow Flash and I here." Velocity looks behind him at the Raptors and Griffins, "These guys can't see us, since we're technically only in your minds. Anything you say to us is also just in your head, technically, so they won't think you're to crazy." He winked, then looked back towards Flash's resting place, "Hey, hurry up bud! You're missing it!" (OOC: if you had a different plan for how that would go down, I apologize.)
11. Xukar gives Daring a small, sly smirk, "Perhaps I have, just in case I needed an excuse to get you to come back." He turns his turquoise eyes to Starsprite, "The interior changes with pretty much every temple. It really all depends on the architect's preference. I do know that some temples are built to accommodate the spirits that were believed to inhabit them." The zebra shrugs, and falls silent. When Starsprite returned to notify the group that Indigo wasn't with them, Xukar sighed heavily. They had barely even started and already one of them was fallen behind.
12. (OOC: So very sorry for being absent all day! I was at a friend's house, and I didn't have a lot of chances to get online long enough to post!) During Funeral Proceedings: Shimmer felt Time wrapping his hoof around her's. She smiled faintly and leaned into him, watching the Commander give his speech. Post Proceedings: Carmus accepted the banner from his brother's casket, giving the Raptor a salute before taking it and the empty cartridges. There were no tears coming from the Captain, he'd gotten that out of the way in his off time the night before. Shimmer trotted over to him and Spitfire, giving her brother a gentle hug - which he returned - as she observed the banner. He felt Spitfire nudge him and saw her stepping over to the Raptor holding Flashbomb's banner. He watched her take it, staying silent. She stepped back over to him, carrying the banner, and drew close to him, tears falling from her eyes. Carmus held her, giving her a gentle kiss on the top of her head. Jet-Stream gave Horizon a solemn nod and mutual salute, "They certainly do my friend. Did she now? I will not object, and I don't think that the Sentinel's family would mind. He was a good friend to Velocity." The Commander sighed and called out, "Place them to rest, so that they may join those that came before in the Gilded Halls of Caelum." As the pallbearers carry the caskets away to put the fallen to their final resting places.
13. The large zebra shrugs, "Perhaps rival hunters, or decay. I have rarely entered the ancient temples, so I cannot say for sure."
14. Xukar re-situated his cloak, giving a small grunt in defense of his dignity. He dance/steps around the snakes. The last one takes a strike at him, and the zebra callously stomps its head into the sand. Xukar follows Daring and the others, brushing his hoof in the sand as he does. He looks up at the temple, and nods in response to Sparkle, "If my knowledge doesn't fail me, yes. I have seen some structures like it before in my homeland, though they are slightly different in their aesthetics."
15. (OOC: I was thinking this for the beginning of the funeral, like when it's all getting set up or something, though thinking about it, the one you chose fits pretty darn well. Aaand this for when it's actually all going down. The first song I introduced in this post could work for when the speech is being given as well. It really all depends on which you think fits better.EDIT: Oh my goodness, I completely forgot about Dawn and the D: Dabom, I'll leave that up to Celestia to deliver. Only seems right that Princess gives a eulogy for a Princess. That is, if you don't mind.) Shimmer and her older brother listen as Lyria delivers her news. While a little skeptical at first, they decide to believe her. They lived in a world of magic after all. The two remaining Sentinels nodded, Carmus thanking Lyria for passing the message along, Shimmer pulled herself off of the cot she was sitting on and gave her friend a hug as she thanked her. They watched Horizon give his speech, each of them smiling slightly at his words, "Well said." Carmus says as Horizon leaves. ~*~ Three Days Later. Day of the Funeral. Three days. It had been three days since the battle. They had been victorious, but at what cost? The lives of so many had been lost. Lives that many believed still had so much to accomplish before their time. Commander Jet-Stream heaved a heavy sigh as he looked out over the assembly of ponies. It seemed like the whole of Equestria had pooled themselves in Canterlot's ruined courtyard. The Griffins had remained for the proceedings, serving as a sort of security, flying perimeter patrols of the area. The Commander watched a few fly by before looking at the ponies before him again. He was no longer in the armor worn by Raptors, instead he wore his parade uniform, a simply jacket of the Raptor red, white and black, adorned with the insignia of his rank. The Canterlot Royal Guard had remained in their armor, those that could still perform their job. The SERS and many of the Raptors were in their parade dress, like the Commander. Carmus was standing off to the side with his only remaining family, his sister Shimmer. Alongside them were the unicorn stallion, Time, that Shimmer had seemed to grow close to over the past few days, and the Wonderbolt Captain, Spitfire, whom Carmus had a wing resting on. Under normal circumstances the Commander would have chewed the Captain out for breaking attention in uniform. But he decided to let it slide, for every military pony there. It wasn't conventional, but quite frankly, that didn't matter at the moment. Jet-Stream and Carmus'd had a long talk, the Captain claiming he wished to resign. The Commander convinced him not to, with some help from Spitfire and Shimmer. Jet's own family, his wife and son, as well as his own three younger siblings, were there as well. The proceedings were just about to begin. The Commander rose from his seat and stepped up the podium, nodding to the Princesses, Celestia and Luna. Alongside Twilight, her brother, Shining Armor, his wife, the Princess Cadence, and the newly restored Princess Leisha. After acknowledging them, he looks out over the crowd once more, and begins to speak, "For us, the storm has passed... The crisis, and the war brought with it, is over. But let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark, and did not return," He looks at Carmus and Shimmer, and from them his gaze wanders over the entire assembly. He continued, "For their decision required courage beyond measure; sacrifice, and unshakable conviction that the lives of millions, rested on the outcome of their fight... Our fight. "As we start to rebuild, the former grounds of the Academy will remain barren, a memorial, to heroes fallen. They ennobled us all, and they shall not be forgotten. And though we still do not know the full list of casualties, even after three days, there are still ponies reported missing in action. We can only pray that they are found safely." He gives a slight pause in his speech before continuing. "Lieutenant Flashbomb, Doctor Argon, SERS Operative Gadget, Sentinel Velocity... And so many more, have posthumously been awarded the Honorantur, the Mark of Honor, for showing the integrity and willingness to risk their lives, for the benefit of many. Gadget, who fought bravely in combat. Flashbomb, who gave his life to save that of another. Doctor Argon, for the same reason. Velocity, who protected the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony at the cost of his own life." The Commander raised his voice slightly as he delivers his last line, the entirety of the Raptor forces joining in, "Ite in pace, milites, cetera tolle Lorem meruisset. Go now in peace, warriors, and take the rest you've earned." Jet-Stream looked slightly to his left, where Horizon was standing with a group of seven raptors, two of which are Shrike and Alkaline, all armed with rifles. As the Honor Guard readied to give the salute, Jet-Stream turned to face the many caskets lined up behind him, each one draped by an Equestrian Banner, and saluted them, alongside every military pony there. At Horizon's command, the Raptors aimed their rifles into the sky, opposite the direction of the crowd, and each fire one shot simultaneously, three times. A Three Volley Salute to those fallen.
16. "Something strange, huh? Well, I've never seen you around town until now, and I only just met you after this box thingy appeared, and that's pretty strange, so I guess you're right." Denim stops scanning the TARDIS, backing up and looking at it with wide eyes, "This thing is... Incredible. It looks like it's made of wood but it's not... And it just seems so.. Huge." She trots forward slightly and crouches, almost like a cat getting ready to pounce, before leaping up and grasping the edge of it. She tries to pull herself up, but slips slightly. Denim activates her magic again, a teal aura enveloping her horn and snaking down to cover the rest of her body, a levitation spell to make herself weightless, and she pulls herself up. She smiles in triumph from atop the TARDIS, and sees Big Mac, whom she waves to. She knew who he was, though they'd never really spoken, she'd seen him around town, and she miiight have have helped his youngest sister and her friends in some of their escapades.
17. Denim taps a hoof on her chin in thought for a few seconds before shaking her head, "No, aside from this box, -"And you guys, who seem to be really surprised at your being ponies."- "I haven't really noticed anything." She trots up to the TARDIS and taps it once with her hoof. She takes a step back and makes a quizzical face before activating her magic and seemingly scanning the blue box. She glances at the Doctor out of her peripheral, "Why were you wondering about strange corner-of-the-eye dwelling things?"
18. (OOC: I am completely fine with the jump. Obviously, we need Lyria to say something to Shim and them, and I want to have Carmus show up and see that Flash and Vel are dead first, so I will do that in this post.) The griffin nodded and signaled to her subordinates, and they began to assist. "When all of this is done we will have to have a drink with Flashbomb,Shimmer and Velocity eh?" Carmus nodded in response, smiling slightly, "I'm sure they'd appreciate that." He said, assisting the teams with loading the carts. "I have always wanted to get to know the Raptor team better! You and your team seem quite capable of solving anything. Or so I'm told." Carmus chuckles, "We try our best!" "Who is this Velocity and Shimmer i keep hearing about? Were they the two that had accompanied Twilight? I Didnt really speak to them but They seemed like good ponies. Flashbomb seemed to get along with them very well, Did you say he was in canterlot Carmus? along with them? The red stallion looks over to Spitfire, smiling with what could be called pride, "They're my kid brother and sister. They told me they were her personal guards two years ago, so I would believe so," He nods, "Yeah, I could tell that they were on real friendly terms with one another. And yes, I'm pretty sure that's where he ran off to after he healed, going by what Deus said." "Since we dont have any pegesai to spare you will have to use the Back up, Its not to hard to maneuver. As well if you wish to go to Canterlot first be my guest." The Captain nodded and signaled for the remainder of his team to pile in. He had stayed in Cloudsdale for only a few minutes before deciding to go to Canterlot to check up on his siblings, though Sage stayed behind. Upon arrival, they were greeted by the sight of teams lining up the deceased outside of a few buildings for extraction. Carmus, Shrike, a few griffins and whoever had come with them looked about at the ruins of what had been Canterlot. Carmus stopped a guard as he passed, "Could you tell me where I could find Sentinel Shimmer, and Sentinel Velocity?" The guard winced slightly at the mention of Velocity, but gestured to the building where Shimmer and the rest were, "Over there..." He said. "Thank you." Carmus said, not entirely registering the guard's wince, and trotted over to the building. He hadn't seen his brother and sister since Cloudsdale, so needless to say he was anxious to see them. Upon entering the room, he was met by the sight of Horizon, Time, Shimmer and Lyria, but no Velocity. He furrowed his brow, walking forward a few steps before he saw the helmet in Horizon's hooves, the mask that had been set aside by a guard a few minutes earlier and the general sadness his sister and the others seemed to be radiating. He swallowed, and asked in a slow, uneasy tone, "Where's... Velocity? Flash?" Shimmer looked at her brother. She blinked, a few tears managing to slip past, before shaking her head slowly. Carmus felt like he'd been punched in the gut. He stumbled, leaning against the nearest wall, "Oh.. I see..."
19. "Oh thanks!" Denim says, gesturing to the town, "It's pretty nice around here. And I agree with you, it can get pretty dull sometimes. Every now and then we have some sort of crisis, but it's always ended before it gets to interesting. That box crashing into the town square is probably the most exciting thing that's happened all week. I'm surprised more ponies didn't come out to look at it..." She looks around at the relatively empty town square, but shrugs, "I guess they just assumed it was nothing to important."
20. "I honestly dont believe in having to write details on all of this. Im sorry shimmer." Shimmer nods as Horizon stepped over to Velocity's body to examine it, "Do what you have to..." She turned her eyes away shortly after the blanket was moved. She couldn't bear to see him. Not like that. "He looked so peacefull. As though he was accepting his fate with honesty." She gives a bitter sweet smile, "That's just the way Vel was. Even if he didn't like something, he'd usually see it through to the end... He-" She rests her head on Time's shoulder as another wave of emotion hits her. Shimmer stays still and silent for half a minute, trying to keep from breaking down. She sighs and lifts her head back up, "He was a good soldier... A good brother." She watches a guard come in and wheel Velocity's body outside. Shimmer looks back to Horizon, who had moved off and picked up Velocity's helmet. It seemed that the HUD was still active, showing the messages that it had showed her brother as he died. The Sentinel heard another pony enter at a quick speed. She turned her head to see Lyria. She looked sad, as was expected given the circumstances, but she looked like she had something more to say, "What is it, Lyria?" Shimmer asked, turning her body around to face her fully. ~*~ Sage nodded, "Of course sir. I wouldn't mind it at all." The griffin who'd caught Sage after she blew the hall section from around her stepped up, "I'll bring a couple of my boys with me and help you to, if y'like." She said, gesturing behind her with a talon.
21. Shimmer shrugged, "Fate can be an interesting thing sometimes." She was about to say more when Horizon trotted over to them, "Do I sense a connection between you two? Heh....." Shimmer blushed slightly, but quickly shook it off as Horizon asked her how Flashbomb passed. She sighed slightly, "To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure... I think he gave his life for mine." She sits straight, brushing her silvery blue mane out of her eyes as she speaks, "I had been trying to stop Thunder Swift out of vengeance, and he ended up throwing me into rubble, where I got impaled... I was nearly dead when Flash found me. He cut me down, removed the steel and did his best to save me. I think I actually was dead for a few seconds before Flash brought me back. I think he used an ability in his mask, or something along those lines, to pull me out of the dark. Bought me enough time before... well, Time, got there and finished up." She wipes her eyes as a few more tears well up as she recalls the sight of her brother's body falling to the ground as his shield crumbled. And the sight of Flash lying beside her after restarting her heart. Shimmer gave a heavy sigh, getting her emotion back under control before looking at Horizon again, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" ~*~ Carmus glanced over as the medical team arrived. He nodded to Deus as he shook his hoof, "Just Captain, actually," He smiles slightly, "Yeah. They're good kids." He chuckles slightly at Deus' outburst to the medic who dropped the supplies. He nods, "You could say that, yeah." Carmus winced slightly. He could lie, say that it was just the bomb... No. It wouldn't be right, "That was partly me. The bomb had done a number on the place but... It wasn't what sent it down completely. I took... measures... to get them out, and it proved to much for the damaged building. I am sorry to say not everypony made it out." The Captain nodded and called Sagebrush over. She waved a wing at them to let them know they were heard, and she would be over shortly. Carmus nodded to Deus final question, "Of course." Sagebrush finished tying off the final knot in some stitches, then flapped over to them and saluted, her mane still pulled back in the ponytail, "Medical Officer Sagebrush. What can I do for you?"
22. "Oh, alright then!" Denim says. She smile and claps slightly, "Very good! This is Ponyville!" She stops and bites her lip, "Sorry if that sounded condescending..." She watched Jack stretching, then giggled slightly as he expressed surprise at seeing his wings, "These two act like they've never seen a pony before. Heck, the pegasus just practically forgot he has wings! Who are these two...?"
23. Shimmer didn't look at Time when he spoke to her initially. She kept her gaze on Velocity's dead body. That was, until he mentioned there always being room for love in chaos. She smirked and gave a small chuckle, looking at the unicorn stallion, "Taking it a bit quick, aren't we?" She gives a genuine laugh, though there is still some sadness evident behind it, and leans over to him, giving him a small kiss, "But you're right. Always in chaos, there is love. With that, we can get through just about anything, can't we?" She huffs, wiping her free hoof across her ice blue eyes swiftly,"Sounds like something Velocity would've said." She commented quietly. Shimmer narrowed her eyes, looking into Time's. She sighs after a few seconds of this, and smiles bitter sweetly, "I'm glad to have met you. I only wish that it had been sooner, and under better circumstances." ~*~ Velocity stayed silent for the most part, merely holding the mare hugging him and Flash as close as he could while Flash and his parents spoke to her. After they were finished, Velocity gave a small sigh, "There's not really a whole lot that I can say to top that, other than agreeing, huh?" He grinned, despite the situation. His expression returned to the somber one he'd been wearing earlier, "Lyria... You listen to Flash and them now, y'here? You're going to have to stay strong, if not just for yourself, but for everypony. Life will get you down from time to time, and there are pains that we must all endure, but they will always lead to brighter and better days in the end. When you see Shimmer, and Carmus, I want you to give them my love, and let them know that... Tell them not to mourn for us. We're in a better place now, and you'll all see us again, when the time is right. I'll be sure to save you all a spot at the banquet table, eh? We'll have a big old family reunion. We're all Brothers and Sisters in Arms after all, aren't we?" Velocity stood beside Flash, giving Lyria a salute and smile as he slowly began to fade.
