1. I think the reason why they don't show her parents it that it might kill a lot of the fandom stories and arts.

The people who work on the show aren't allowed to read fanfictions. I mean, there is art that implies it, but I doubt the fandom theories are as widely known to the show staff as they are to the fandom.

  2. Well, if you notice in Ponyville Confidential, Sweetie Belle talks to Rarity, Apple Bloom interviews Granny Smith, and Scootaloo talks to... birds. And then in Sleepless in Ponyville, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo go out with Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. Still no family to be seen! I mean, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo fit well as like, somepony Scootaloo would look up to. And maybe if she didn't have any siblings, Dash would be a good substitute for what her two friends have. However, even if we didn't see Rarity's parents for awhile, we still saw Rarity, and Sweetie Belle. She had family. Apple Bloom has always lived with Applejack (and hey, we sort of saw their parents too).

Parents have come in the past, and probably will continue to be revealed in the future. So, I guess we just wait it out. A common fandom theory is that she's an orphan... I'm waiting for the day when her parents are shown, and a thousand fanfiction headcanon's are shattered.

  3. Hello, welcome to Canterlot. :)

Do you have a Changeling OC?

If you're just starting out Roleplaying, I suggest trying the FiM Free-For-All section. You can jump right in, and look for an open thread that interests you. Or, you can check out the OOC area, and read through the recent ideas people have had. Or, feel free to start your own RP or OOC topic!

  4. The Peryton looked nervously at the big red beast before her. She did her best to stand her ground and hold her head high, when what she really wanted was to cower on the ground and cover her eyes. But surprisingly, he apologized. He didn't snap at her, he wasn't gruff, or vicious, or mean. His personality wasn't what Misty had imagined from looking at him. The menacing spines on his tail looked like they could take out a Peryton, or even a pony, in one swoop. Of course Misty was aware that she was among civilized—and thus, not likely to be dangerous—society, but that didn't make her any less apprehensive of everyone present.

“You read about us? Really?” she squeaked. She cleared her throat, not wanting to sound so small as she felt. “What is it you've heard?” she asked skeptically. Perytons were prone to staying in their forests, shying away from most of the modern world, and preferring the wilds to the cities. So if someone had actually met one, and been able to spend time with it enough to have a decent conversation, well, that was something.

“Yeah, it's quite a rabble.” Misty responded to his question. “Where is it you come from?” All these creatures were going to be her traveling companions, whether she liked it or not. So she may as well try to be friendly, and get to know them, seeing as they'd be spending a lot of time together in the near future.

At that moment, a green pony who had broken away from the group approached them. But Misty seemed confused by her question, shuffling her front hooves on the ground before she replied. “I'm... sorry to say, but I don't know.” she paused, still befuddled on how to answer. “Do ponies have names for the wood? Perytons don't really trifle with things like that. The trees are our home, and that's enough. Why bother giving the place a name? It's not like you're liable to see any other talking creature out there. In fact, I've never even seen another Peryton outside of my family.” she herself looked disappointed that she couldn't give a more satisfactory reply. But then something occurred to her. “Oh, but maybe it was one of my parents! I know I'm hardly more than what you would call a filly myself, but they're much older.” she smiled, glad that she could actually be of some service.
