Fantasy Trope [Final]

Recommended Posts

Roleplay type: World of Equestria RP

Name: Fantasy Trope

Sex: Female

Age: Mare, but still fairly young

Species: Earth Pony

Eye color: A very rich purple

Coat color: A solid, night sky pitch black color

Mane/Tail/Markings Markings and Style: Both her mane and tail are silver in color, and are rather simply maintained. She takes great care in grooming though, and her coat and mane are both quite well kept groomed and kept, to the point where they are almost shiny. For efficiency's sake she keeps it cropped off around her neck and tucked behind her ears, while her tail is just very plainly curved. In fact, it would almost seem as though she takes pride in keeping her appearance as basic as possible. As for for articles of clothing, she does wear a black witches hat occasionally, as well as a cloak. Being staples of mystery and magic, she finds it very necessary to adorn herself with cliches such as these.

Physique: Although she seems fairly average in build, she actually is quite fit and healthy due to all her travels. As a hybrid between a stay at home reader and an avid explorer she blends the two physiques oddly well. She may not be perfectly athletic, but she gets around. Although, any overly prolonged exercise, like running for a mile or so, whips her out of breath quicker than she'd like. Despite all her long treks she's still a bookworm at heart, although she works hard to try and overcome this. As long as she can keep things to short bursts of energy, she can actually be quite skilled with speed or agility. Really, her main problem seems to be stamina (or lack of it).

Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a silver and gold shooting star (think lucky charms for shape). The shooting star has always been synonymous with wishes, and Fantasy is a very wishful pony. As an optimist, she tries to look towards the skies in search of a better tomorrow, and as a dreamer she takes her cutie mark as a symbol for her admiration of magic. Indeed, she can come across as having her head in the stars. Being surrounded with books have giving Fantasy a slightly skewed vision of Equestria, and she fancies herself as to the night as the shooting star constantly dancing across the skies. In her case, she constantly dances across a land in which her knowledge and opinions were formed by old texts and fantasy novels.

Origin/Residence: Although she was born in Cantorlot, she now travels around quite a bit, and has no permanent residence. She does have a couple private hideaways around Equestria, namely one in Fillydelphia, one in Trottingham, and one in Baltimare (she gets around).

Motivation: Her main motivation is too see the sights in Equestria and explore the places no pony has been, although that coincides with another goal of hers. She also desires to understand the things that have been all but forgotten by everypony else. Knowledge, she reasons, can be an even more powerful force than magic

Occupation: She is an adventurer and an archaeologist of sorts. She goes of on adventures, finds stuff that looks valuable, returns to civilization, and sells it. Occasionally she'll hire herself out as a guide to other adventurers, but that doesn't happen often.

Likes: Magic, the night, old ruins, politeness, intelligence, isolation, thinking, philosophy, antiquities, a spot of tea, anything that is rare, and a good fantasy novel (or any good novel, for that matter)

Dislikes: Getting the sun stuck in her eyes, the fact she can never truly be magic, impoliteness, being suppressed or held up, overly-social situations, and getting cheated

Character Summery: Fantasy Trope was born in Canterlot and raised by her Uncle. Of course, since her Uncle was a unicorn, and a fantastic magician to boot, her early filly years filled her with expectations that she couldn't possibly live up too. After all, its impossible for an earth pony to use magic, isn't it? One would imagine that as reality set in, Fantasy would be left bitterly disappointed, but she found something that kept her hopes alive. Although she never could truly cast spells, she found a different type of magic in books, and it did enchant her. Specifically, she loved fantasy novels, although after a while she began reading history books and, well, anything she could get her hooves on. She was so in love with reading that she could do nothing but look towards the future with glimmering eyes. Filled with such enthusiasm, her attitude reflected her outlook, and when she wasn't reading she acted very charming.

Of course, her Uncle tried to get her to be more social. Being a rather well-to-do pony, he was very well-mannered and made sure that Fantasy was too. Of course, this meant learning how to act in front of others, and so at a rather young age she was attending parties. Of course, no amount of etiquette lessons from her Uncle could have ever prepared her for so many ponies. Needless to say, she was a nervous wreck at almost all of them. Despite any amount of help offered to her and any amount of lessons she was through, it seemed as though she would never get used to being amongst others. However, between parties her reading was a strong as ever, and despite not being a unicorn, she even studied spell books. Indeed, she gained quite a knowledge of spells which she memorized as sort of a hobby. Fantasy never really had much better to do.

Although she never liked parties, it was quite ironic that her life was rather changed at one. While standing somewhat awkwardly in the corner, she overheard her Uncle talking with one of the professors from the Canterlot University, and was somewhat astonished to overhear that they were planning a field trip for a few students to a recently discovered ruin for something of a history lesson. Although Fantasy never knew quite why, and even now she believes it was rather odd, but she just felt like she HAD to go on that field trip, no doubts about it. And so she tried every approach she could read up on or think of. She approached the University, but she wasn't magic and therefore had no place in going. She tried talking to her Uncle, but he couldn't do anything. She even tried talking to the princesses, but that was out of question (she couldn't even get pass the guard at the gate). With nothing left to do but face defeat, she realized that she didn't even know why she wanted to go. Facing defeat and being denied whatever strange fate wanted her to go, Fantasy mustered all of the grace she could... and she snuck herself onto the trip.

By wearing a simple black hat (and a cloak, the matching cloak was important) she disguised the fact that she had no horn. Sure, one would think she would be spotted almost immediately, but she had gotten so good at hiding from all of those parties that she was overlooked. Not that she went the whole trip being ignored, rather by the time the professor in charge of the trip found her out it would have to long of a detour to take her back to Canterlot. Through a stroke of luck, she realized she had pulled off a trick she had only read about. Granted, she really only read about things in the first place, but this still was a major victory for her. Just to remember the day, she kept her nifty disguise throughout the years, to remind her of her first great adventure.

Anyways, once they actually arrived at the ruins, it turned out to be quite the fascinating experience. Although there was nothing to do, and no artifacts or scrolls or such to find, it still was marvelous. For the first time since picking up a book, Fantasy felt like herself, only this time it was her own adventure. Perhaps she got a touch overwhelmed with a little foray into the fray, but it was her first real taste of a novel concept. Filled with all the possibilities and gazing at the ruins with twinkling eyes it was at this moment that her cutie mark appeared. This was the big change in her life style. After scratching the surface, she vowed to make it a lifestyle to go spelunking as often as she could. Grabbing a small rock as a memento, she hid it in her cloak just as the field trip was over and everyone started leaving.

After returning to Canterlot, Fantasy spent the next few weeks cramming as much relevant adventuring knowledge into her head as possible by reading practically nonstop. Of course, her Uncle felt she was still too young to go out by herself, so they struck sort of a compromise in that she wouldn't leave Canterlot until she was at least a mare. And so she waited. And waited. And waited. During this period she was surprisingly upbeat about everything that was thrown at her. Eventually, the day arrived that it was decided she was old enough. Although the goodbyes were tough, they were said, and Fantasy left off to start her new lifestyle.

Oh, and did she start it out with a bang. Within the first few weeks, she had discovered not only what a profit she could make by selling trinkets she found, but she also managed to travel over near unreal amounts of distances in Equestria. In the first month she managed to create three different hideaways she could come to if she ever found herself in those neck of the woods again. After a while, she got in the habit of opening little stands filled with strange things she's found from old necklaces to stones with runes engraved on them to books she's collected.

Sooo, I figure as long as my app is still at stage one, might as well revamp it. It does look a little rushed, and I am a little out of practice writing; any suggestions are appreciated, and the app may be a bit longer 'till its actually ready to be [final].

Hey there TheInvisiblePony!

Wow! This is a very very solid app!

Good work on this one!

The only thing that I would ask of you (That you can choose to not do) is to refrain from using names for NPC ponies that do not exist in the forum canon yet, so as to keep the names open.

Honestly I can not tell you TO change them since it is only a guideline and a good gesture to keep the names open, but it is ultimately your call and from everything I see I am going to pass your app on to get a Senior RP Helpstaff to look at it!

Can't wait to see you in the actual RP area with this work of art!
