IDW's Comic hits stores!

And here's Kirby Krackle, sometimes creepy sometimes clever, conveying a concise critique of the current comic in question! Be wary of spoilers, everypony!

The first thing I would like to point out is the artwork. Andy Price on the pencils delivers something while certainly not as streamlined as we're used to on, say Deviantart or a tumblr or this very board, it is certainly animated! Facial expressions have a powerful punch, almost akin to Ren and Stimpy in some panels and page layout becomes wild as the story picks up its pace. There is some wonderful scenery porn on page 3, full of pony, mane and background and what I suspect to be OC of the staff involved. Oh, and the Blues Brothers are there too. The villain, whom I will not reveal, gets a treatment I typically only see in manga, which is a hatching to reveal lots of face detail and then, on the same page, a simple silhouette. Delicious is a delicious contract between the ink and Heather Breckle's colours. Oh, and Pinkie Pie gets a slasher smile. It's wonderful.

Onto the writing! Again, without revealing much about the story, our six heroes once again get the call to action! For? Why, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have been abducted! I was wondering why it was so quiet around here. ...ahem, anyway, not much I can really say with a single issue in hand but every character is themselves. The show's standards are met.

Finally, there are some jokes in this that absolutely must be addressed. I cannot not talk about them! The first being the "You can have her back" gag in the middle of a kidnapping. The second being... oh, how can i put this? Did you see the Incredibles? Or Watchmen? Or that one Green Lantern episode of the Superman animated series? I hope so. Villainous monologing is brought to our attention and then the dastard basically hangs up the phone when called out on it. Hilarious.

In summary, this is a must have for you all. Not only is it more pony thus, it must be supported, but it is also a fine piece of comic booking and definitely worth the $3.99! There's even a bonus comic at the end, two pages long! I hope you all got your copy.
