Did Anyone Bring a Flashlight? (Open! Feel free to pop right in!)

The light was beginning to grow dim over the Everfree forest. A beautiful stretch of orange and pink flooded the sky, and sank down through the occasional hole in the brush deep below. Ordinarily, Keyframe would have been greatly enthused by such a magical sight. After all, he was an artist, and the sky was always dazzling over Equestria. Unfortunately, this was not a day to enjoy the beauty of nature and all its worth. It was a day to be frustrated and nervous.

Keyframe carefully navigated his way down the beaten path of the forest. His eyes wandered nervously. His wings remained glued to his side, as if they were far too frightened of his surroundings to spread. Each little crackle, or dance of a shadow, sent a shiver down his spine. He'd been searching the forest for hours, attempting to find the perfect pigment for a new shade of magenta. The search was becoming exhausting. More so than that, he was simply becoming tired. His small frame shifted over a log in his path, only to become stuck over it. He huffed, kicking his legs behind him. Finally, his wings sprang forth and flapped just enough to bring him over the log and onto the other side.

"Let's have an adventure! Let's go make some new paint. Let's go into the Everfree forest, you've never been -there- before. Oh. It'll be fine! You'll be out before dark!" The blue stallion snorted at himself. His face twisted into a disgruntled snarl as he promptly sat down on the path. A heavy sigh escaped him as he looked up towards the sky. The truth of the matter was that he was no longer looking for the ingredients to create a new paint. He simply wanted to make his way back to town. He wanted to have a nice cup of sweet lemonade, and relax on his bed at the local inn while reviewing his plans for where next to travel. The forest, however, had other plans. It intended to keep him lost for as long as it possibly could.

Carefully, Keyframe slid his saddle off. The bags drearily slooped onto the ground behind him. The pegasus forced himself to turn around. His hooves dug through the bags, searching for something, only to find it wasn't there. His green eyes grew wide.

"Oh no. I forgot the flashlight!"

The sky had grown a glorious orange and red above Ponyville, The sky lit up wit glowing trails of a pegasus as he flew. He landed on the ground nearby the Everfree forest and took in the air as it cooled him. He saw a silver streak nearby and watched as it curved twoards him. The newcomer landed and smiled at him "Hey Flashbomb, whats new?" The grey pegasus with a silver mane asked him. Flashbomb smiled back to the pegasus "Not much Silverbolt.......not much." He said to his friend. Flash held up his blue hoof and Silverbolt returned the hoofbump. "What are you doing near the Everfree at this time of night?" Silverbolt asked with a curt nod. Flash shook his head "Nothing, just looking at the beautifull sunlight as it drops below the horizon. Kind of relaxing for me." Flash responded. Silverbolt chuckled "The Everfree is a pretty dangerous place to be at night. Seems like a great idea to go for a night flight eh?" He asked. Flash looked back to the woods laid out before him, "well......sure! night time is pretty amazing as well, why not?" He said. Silver took to the sky and Flash followed soon after. The sun had dissapeared and the moon rose, shrouding the world in darkness. The two pegasus flying above the treeline left a glowing streak of Yellow and Silver as they soared through the sky.

A light breeze rustles the calm branches of the Everfree Forest, with sensational sunlight hailing over the land of Equestria. An almost inaudible trotting reveals itself from the entrance of the forest, a wonderful light cyan glow omitting from the horn of a grey unicorn. He inhales a cool breeze from the air as he continues into the forest; equipped with two saddlebags containing necessary items for a hasty transit around the dangerous Everfree Forest - he also had a small camera braced around his neck accompanied by a dull, sluggish expression right above it. The young stallion straightened up his green cap, one of the only colourful features on him (excluding the cheap watch and graceful glow from his horn), he sighs.

''The Everfree Forest. The locals say it's haunted and such but it doesn't matter, heh, I can probably get from the middle and back without trouble!'' he jokingly mutters to himself, oblivious to the harm of the forest.

The horn continues to illuminate the path to the forest, often revealing new, marvellous species of plants in the Forest; the expression on his face slowly began shifting it's muscles up to form a slight grin. He continued trotting into the forest, his body language of incautious flushed upon him. *CRACK*. The unicorn suddenly freezes, paralysed and shocked by the sudden noise created. He casts a small spell which highlights the small area around him, it casts a small flash of brightened cyan before white began flooding the plants to create visible sight for the scared unicorn. He casts his magic down onto his feet, a huge sigh of both annoyance and relief is expelled from his mouth.

''Nearly scared yourself there, Rock, heh.'' the unicorn comments. His facial expression, again, turns back into a sluggish, gloomy look. He straightens himself, lifting his hoof from the tiny twig placed onto the ground. He slips. *BOOF* *WHOOSH*.

The unicorn wakes himself from the dusty ground, his sudden impact releases a sudden spurt of dust and dirk around him. Cursing under his breath, he begin inspecting his surrounding area: none he recognised himself, a newly grown thick overgrowth had surrounded him. A sudden cold breeze taps him on the shoulder, welcoming him to it's domain. He begins to utilize his horn, a bright light exploding from the horn to illuminate the mysterious place. The branches began to sway wildly, almost like they were alive! The crude carvings in their trunks even seem to resemble the evil faces in which the locals of Ponyville had told him about. He chooses this opportunity to evade them: he first hovers his green cap, hung onto a wooden branch, and places it back onto his head before galloping out. He left his satchels back there.

''That was certainly close!'' exclaims Rock as he manages to find a small clearing in the forest. He brushes off the dirt and mud from his torn clothing, before turning back to the environment: He sighted a lost pegasus busy under the covers of his satchel, a quiet whimpering under the bag.

''Hi?''

Keyframe's heart had skipped a beat at the thought of having forgotten his precious flashlight. All things considering, he supposed he could simply fly out of the Everfree forest, but his saddle was heavy, and he was much too intimidate to attempt to. What if a dragon saw him and decided it wanted a quick snack. As the thought passed his mind, the fleeting glow through the sky captured his attention. He peeped. His hair stood on end, and his wings flew out at once as he jumped into the air. Nervously, he hovered, then dropped into place, before a voice captured his attention.

The young pegasus whirled around at once. His hooves were firmly planted on the ground. His green eyes were wide, and his wings spread defensively. Gradually, he began to relax. His wings eased to his side. His shoulders narrowed. Keyframe heaved a sigh of great relief upon realizing it was another pony --- a unicorn.

"Darn near gave me a heart-attack there..." His face became sheepish. Nervously, he picked his saddle up to set back onto his back. "I wasn't expecting to see anyone else way out here this late in the evening!"

Keyframe lowered his head towards the ground. His eyes turned upward. He bit his lip, fighting the urge to ask if the unicorn knew of a way out. Pride got the better of him. He kept his mouth shut on the matter, then straightened himself once more.

"H-howdy, stranger."

Flashbomb was enjoying the flight through the skies, the glow of the moon was excelent tonight to him. Silverbolt and he flew it patterns in the air, it was quite evident that they were both having fun. That was until Silverbolt lost his air grasp and began to tumble. Flash saw his silver and grey friend fall twoards the Everfreeforest and dived to try and save Him. They streaked accross the sky as they decended, Flash tried to speed up to catch his flailing friend but it was no use. Flash caught sight of 2 ponies ahead of them and he flew really hard to pull silver up before he ran into them. He grabbed his back hoof and pulled hard to just barely miss the two by 10 feet. He couldnt hold the extra weight however and had to let him go, they both crashed into the trees. Flash felt himself tumble and roll on the ground, his head and wings hit rocks and branches. He tried to tuck and roll but was thrown apart and finnaly hit his head on a large trunk. He struggled to open his eyes "Ow........" He said as he saw the toppled branches and dirt he had left behind, the yellow streak he left as he flew had faded and so did his vision. He blacked out leaning against the tree.

(little dramatic)

Rock had jumped back at the pegasus' reaction, he initiates a similar symmetrical defensive position (minus the wings) and had begun a small lighting from his horn. He eventually began to relax himself as the other pony did the same, lifting his hoof to his head to wipe a bead of sweat sliding down his forehead. He emitted a small, reassuring smile to calm the pegasus - he does this to also help hint that he was friendly. He looked around the patch of clearing the pegasus had been seated in, scanning the environment before turning back to the other pony.

''Sorry if I scared you a little, didn't mean to.'' had admitted, scratching the back of his head to fill the embarrassment. He lifted his front, left hoof to gain perception on the time; he sighs, it was already this late. His expression had also declined as he noticed that both his satchels had disappeared. He mumbled to himself before turning back to the other pony.

''My name is Rock, what's yours?'' Rock had replied, a small reassuring grin being created as he does, ''I didn't expect anypony else to be out here, either. Mind: Do you know the way out?''
