  3. Welcome to Canterlot! Ooooo. Another Doctor Who fan? c: I only just became familiar with the series myself, but it's incredibly fun, I just finished the series with David Tennant playing the Doctor. Ahahah. It had me hooked instantly. Hope you have fun here.
  4. It just occurred to me that I should draw some ponies. 8|

  5. Eeee. It's felt like such an eternity since I've poked in here, and the Season 4 premiere seems like an excellent place to start. c: I was incredibly excited about this season, and I definitely wasn't disappointed by what they delivered.
  6. With a silent huff, Keyframe had resigned to the idea that his hopes were dashed. It was difficult to swallow the idea, but, as his father had always told him: there's no use crying over cactus prickles. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but feel weighed down by a heavy sense of discouragement. There had been so many set backs since he'd moved to the city. For a moment, it seemed as i that portion of his life was finally coming to a close. The feathers of his wings stretched out from beneath his bag. Steeling his emotions, Keyframe began to stand up, the weight of his bags making the process more arduous than he'd remembered when he'd first begun his trip. It was at that moment the sudden sound of another pony's voice pierced the wallowing pity-party he'd begun. His ears perked up. His posture straightened, and his eyes came to a squint as he peered into the not so far distance. "A unicorn?" He mumbed under his breath. With a sudden jolt, his eyes grew wider, and wider. "A unicorn!" There it was! The answer to his problem (maybe). Perhaps the other pony had seen his paper go by? Maybe it wasn't too late? It was as if a switch had been flicked within the pegasus' mind. A smile curled across his lips, though nervous and plagued with worry. "H-h-howdy there, stranger!" Keyframe stammered. His legs bucked beneath him as the weight of his bags became too great. With a loud 'oof', he flopped onto the ground.
  7. From my experience when the episode aired, the issue was that it happened at all. I can't speak about it in relation to this community, but in others, it was an issue regarding her becoming a princess at all, because of some belief that it made her -weaker-. Actually, that it set a standard that in order to be successful, you needed to be a 'princess'. To me, the message was more in line that all individuals have great potential, and through hard work and dedication you can reach that highest point. The timing of the event is an entirely separate discussion, imo. Personally, I thought the timing was spot on. The series was starting to drag into a lull, and there needed to be some major catalyst to shift the story into a new direction, while still maintaining its core principles. The series shifting towards Twiight's adjustment to greater responsibility, while maintaining her knowledge and study on kindness and friendship, provides for a lot more diversity in terms of her specific character arch. She's not a student any more, not in the same way that she was, and I feel like this dynamic will play out in an interesting way. c: I was really pleased with the Equestria Girls movie because it discussed Twilight's insecurities in moving on with her life and newfound status as a leader. It kind of set the tone for what Season 4 -could- be. I feel like them doing it as a series finale would have left a foul taste in my mouth. Reason being is that they would open up the door for an entirely NEW plot arch, but would then never address it or offer a sense of closure. Some people like that sort of thing, but, frankly, I'd rather they have done it now and developed it over time, leading to an ultimate sense of closure. There are still other possibilities, such as the possibility of Celestia stepping down, or granting Twilight greater authority than anyone can really imagine. There are plenty of major archs that could be taken from this point. I never saw her becoming a princess as ground-shattering. It just flat out seemed like it was going to happen. I actually thought it would happen much sooner. Everyone has their own views in regards to that, but I did feel like Twilight did more than enough. She saved Equestria from a dragon shrouding it with smoke, from Nightmare Moon, from Discord, saved the Crystal Empire, saved Princess Cadence and Equestria from the Changelings, created brand new magic out of absolute thin air, and demonstrated remarkable dedication to her friends, fellow ponies, and ideals. What more could she have possibly done to have proven herself ready to ascend into the role of princess? She definitely did do more than Cadence if you take the books as canon. Cadence was simply beloved by all within the village she resided, and presumedly some major event occurred which catalyzed her change. She definitely didn't do anything with the same magnitude as Twilight did, Celestia simply saw that Cadence had met her potential and was worthy enough to assume the role of princess, much in the same way she did with Twilight. My head canon is that Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, and the other similar institutions in Equestria, are geared towards unearthing those ponies who could usher in an era of peace and tranquility through the characteristics they possess. It all just depends on whether said pony can actually meet the expectations and display the necessary characteristics to become an Alicorn. I.E., Sunset Shimmer not being able to understand friendship, and ultimately taking her failures out on everyone around her. I think that's entirely why Celestia focused on friendship when teaching Twilight, because she was afraid of another Sunset Shimmer, or possibly Starswirl the Bearded, who also apparently had issues with friendship (his spell may have actually been devised just to make random ponies his friends, who knows?). Some details aren't fully discussed, nor do they necessarily need to be explained away. But Celestia was bent on prepping Twilight and doing right by her, whereas she failed her previous students. She already possessed the power she has currently. I really don't think having become an alicorn means that she's going to suddenly be more powerful than all creation. She was simply initiated as a leader of Equestria, and basically given wings. They haven't indicated that she's more powerful than all creation. The only time she really is is when acompanied by her friends and the other elements of harmony. 0o I mean, she couldn't defeat Sunset Shimmer on her own without the assistance of the human-versions of her friends, yeah? On that note, I really liked the Equestria Girls movie. It blew my mind, and I also think that the dolls are pretty cool to look at. They're an obvious attempt to break into the fashion doll market, but they're pretty interesting to look at, and kind of fun at that. I now I'm picking up the double pack with Twilight and Sunset Shimmer this weekend. 0o I don't know how most folks feel about Equestria Girls, but I felt like it could lead to a pretty solid, albeit weird, spin-off. That and I approve of Twilight and Flash Sentry becoming a thing.
  8. Awesome. c: I put something together just outside of the city. Hopefully everything works. I definitely look forward to it~ You can find the thread here in the private rp forum. I will warn you that I can be a liiiittttllle slow at times (my work schedule keeps me busy. xD So bear with me!), but I try to reply asap when I see replies to rps. If I'm taking a long time, don't hesitate to toss me a message and I'll get on it quicker.
  9. Time had passed in such a manner that he could scarcely remember what it was like to be surrounded by nature. As Keyframe set foot just beyond the city walls of Manehatten, he breathed a breath of relief. It was as if a great weight was lifted from his shoulders. After all, the hustle and the bustle of the city could become overwhelming for a pegasus of such humbe beginnings as himself. It was a pleasent change of scenery to get away. Even if it was just to the most minor of outskirt, where the land felt ever so slightly more wild. Keyframe stretched out his wings. The blue feathertips quivered at the faintest touch of the cool evening breeze. He straightened his hooves, extended his neck, and inhaled deeply once more. He needed to savor this moment. It was the moment of a new, grand adventure! Not even the weight of his hefty saddlebag could weigh him down. He was leaving, again, if only for a little while. Though he knew he would miss the sparse, familiar nature of his flat in Manehatten, he knew there were greater opportunities to explore for the moment. It never hurt to travel, and his show had been terribly underperforming. A short trip to the smaller areas of the Strand would be a welcome change. With a wayward glance behind him, towards the city, he smiled, and proceeded to trot away from civilization. Though he wasn't going far, it felt like a long goodbye to the city. The fields of grass greeted him with the same warm welcome they always had. It wasn't long before he was comfortable once again. Keyframe's spirit was lifted. His pace quickened along the designated path that was the road. Unfortunately, this strea of high-spirits was to be short lived. From the edge of his saddlebag, a piece of paper dangled, teetering in the wind. As Keyframe's trot quickened, the paper became more, and more, restless. Finally, it broke free from its constraints, and flittered off into the wind. The sound was jarring. At once, the icy blue pegasi whipped his head around. He noticed the paper drifting away, pushing off into one direction, and then another, in the breeze. "Oh no! No, no, no, no. I need that! I need that!" Keyframe's eyes grew wide with fright. He attempted to fly after the paper, but his saddlebags were much too heavy or him to support in the air. He wobbled in the air for a moment before finally crashing into the ground. His muzzle scraped along the dirt, burying it underneathe it. Keyframe spat out a bit of grass, then looked up. The paper was gone, and oh, was that not good. It was his performance contract for the venue he'd been travelling to. Without it, the deal was null and void. Keyframe's face twisted into a distraught form. His wings sank, and with a huff he plopped onto the ground.
  10. If I remember from when I first joined, you need to have more than 3 posts to edit your title. I know there was a post limit you had to reach before the option would ever appear. D': I got really confused too, and ended up spaming my WoE application like an idiot. After you have more than 3 posts, you should be able to edit the title in the full editor.
  11. I'm actually a huge fan of Twilight becoming a princess. The idea of the "earning your right to princess status" over having necessariy been born into it sat right with me. I never especiay found it a mary sue quaity. Actually, it just seemed like a natural evolution to her character. I feel like the show had been dropping hints from the very beginning that Twilight was going to ultimately assume the role of princess. Namely, the fact that Princess Celestia took an unusual interest in her as a student. I think it might just be unspoken lore that every pony is born with the potential to be something special, but that not all of them necessarily exemplify all of the qualities necessary to succeed as a leader? From the finale, I was kind of gaging that Starswirl the Bearded could have possibily been Celestia's prize student in the past, with the potential of becoming a prince, or a male alicorn. However, the fact that he couldn't come to terms with understanding the fundementals of caring for others likely prevented that from ever happening --- hence her focus on pushing Twilight towards friendship rather than academic studies? Either way. I like the change. It actually pushed Twilight into my favorite character spot. She grew a lot as a character from the very beginning, and I was ultimately satisfied with Magical Mystery Cure. I loved the episode. I wasn't bothered that it was a musical, and felt the songs were really strong, and memorable. c: Ultimately, for a one-episode finale, it was pretty epic! Better than I'd really anticipated.
  12. That's totally fine with me. c: I don't mind waiting for a bit of RP. I'd definitely love to get an RP in with your character, Flora. The fact that she owns a plant shop provides a rea natural setting. It's been a while since I've RPed myself, so I wouldn't worry too much about having to get into the groove a character. c: I'll send you a PM next week to set something up, if you'd like? Awesome! ... And ironic, kind of. Ha, ha. It actually sounds like it could be great fun for Keyframe to meet Keystone. Them both being travellers with connections to Manehatten definitely provides a common ground. It could be a lot of fun indeed. c: If you'd like, I could go set something up in Manehatten or near there?
  13. Eep! So, I'm kind of new here. I had submitted a character application and had been approved a good while back ... Buuuut I've yet to have my first roleplay. ;3; I'm down for just about anything. I love action-adventure and romance stories, but I'm up for just about any kind of RP imaginable. I'd be using my main character, Keyframe. c: He's a pegasus centralized in Manehatten. However, he's a travelling vaudeville performer, so the location could really be set anywhere~ If anyone's interested, message me or feel free to et me now here!
  14. Keyframe's heart had skipped a beat at the thought of having forgotten his precious flashlight. All things considering, he supposed he could simply fly out of the Everfree forest, but his saddle was heavy, and he was much too intimidate to attempt to. What if a dragon saw him and decided it wanted a quick snack. As the thought passed his mind, the fleeting glow through the sky captured his attention. He peeped. His hair stood on end, and his wings flew out at once as he jumped into the air. Nervously, he hovered, then dropped into place, before a voice captured his attention. The young pegasus whirled around at once. His hooves were firmly planted on the ground. His green eyes were wide, and his wings spread defensively. Gradually, he began to relax. His wings eased to his side. His shoulders narrowed. Keyframe heaved a sigh of great relief upon realizing it was another pony --- a unicorn. "Darn near gave me a heart-attack there..." His face became sheepish. Nervously, he picked his saddle up to set back onto his back. "I wasn't expecting to see anyone else way out here this late in the evening!" Keyframe lowered his head towards the ground. His eyes turned upward. He bit his lip, fighting the urge to ask if the unicorn knew of a way out. Pride got the better of him. He kept his mouth shut on the matter, then straightened himself once more. "H-howdy, stranger."
  15. The light was beginning to grow dim over the Everfree forest. A beautiful stretch of orange and pink flooded the sky, and sank down through the occasional hole in the brush deep below. Ordinarily, Keyframe would have been greatly enthused by such a magical sight. After all, he was an artist, and the sky was always dazzling over Equestria. Unfortunately, this was not a day to enjoy the beauty of nature and all its worth. It was a day to be frustrated and nervous. Keyframe carefully navigated his way down the beaten path of the forest. His eyes wandered nervously. His wings remained glued to his side, as if they were far too frightened of his surroundings to spread. Each little crackle, or dance of a shadow, sent a shiver down his spine. He'd been searching the forest for hours, attempting to find the perfect pigment for a new shade of magenta. The search was becoming exhausting. More so than that, he was simply becoming tired. His small frame shifted over a log in his path, only to become stuck over it. He huffed, kicking his legs behind him. Finally, his wings sprang forth and flapped just enough to bring him over the log and onto the other side. "Let's have an adventure! Let's go make some new paint. Let's go into the Everfree forest, you've never been -there- before. Oh. It'll be fine! You'll be out before dark!" The blue stallion snorted at himself. His face twisted into a disgruntled snarl as he promptly sat down on the path. A heavy sigh escaped him as he looked up towards the sky. The truth of the matter was that he was no longer looking for the ingredients to create a new paint. He simply wanted to make his way back to town. He wanted to have a nice cup of sweet lemonade, and relax on his bed at the local inn while reviewing his plans for where next to travel. The forest, however, had other plans. It intended to keep him lost for as long as it possibly could. Carefully, Keyframe slid his saddle off. The bags drearily slooped onto the ground behind him. The pegasus forced himself to turn around. His hooves dug through the bags, searching for something, only to find it wasn't there. His green eyes grew wide. "Oh no. I forgot the flashlight!"
