Roark knew it. This little pony was here for a gym badge. Funny. He hadn't had a battle in a while. He was ready for one.

Roark smiled and pointed a hoof towards a pokemon battle court. The court was like any other battle spot. Except with rocks in some places and dirt floors. He was the rock gym leader after all.

The gym leader started to trot towards the battle area.

"This is where it will happen." He said to Ink.

Ink walked over to his side of the field, grabbed Munna's Poke Ball and stared straight ahead. The field was as he had imagined, so his battle strategy would work.

"It's a 3 on 3, correct?" He asked Roark.

Roark moved to his side of the field. He stared at Ink and became puzzled. 3 on 3? He sighed a bit. "By 3 on 3 are you meaning three pokemon at once?" Roark knew how he battled from his past battles. Roark reached down and readied one of his pokeballs.

"No, as in each trainer has 3 Pokemon, and each battle is 1v1." He replied patiently. "Anyway, let's go! Munna, time to shine!" Ink threw a Poke Ball into the air, and watched as the beam of blue transformed into Munna. Catching his Poke Ball and placing it in his Bag, he awaited Roark's move.

Raork figured the battle would be like that. He always battle like this. It was the traditional way to battle. But this trainer seemed eager. He had already thrown out his first pokemon and Roark was barely ready. Oh well. No time to stop now. Roark smirked and said, "Alright then." He then threw a pokeball out and out came a Geodude.

The Geodude glared at the Munna and Ink. Roark smiled. "Trainer goes first."

Ink grinned, and didn't want to waste a moment.

"Energy Ball!" He commanded. Munna floated up, formed a green ball filled with nature's power, and shot it at Geodude at top speed.

Roark saw the energy ball coming and so did Geodude. Roark smiled and said, "Geodude, use defense curl." Then Geodude, as if it was already going to do the move, curled itself into a tight ball. When Geodude did this it's defense sharply rose. As the energy ball descended closer to Geodude Roark grinned. The ball hit Geodude and really did nothing. Geodude burst out of its small state and then grinned at the Munna.

"Nice one Geodude! Now use Rock Throw!" The Geodude then proceeded to hurl chunks of Rock at the Munna.

"Perfect..." He mumbled to himself.

"Dodge it!" Munna levitated swiftly away, and dodged the rocks speeding towards her. As they fell, some smashed the bigger rocks, and broke into pieces - some were powerful enough to break some of the already set rocks. "Munna, Energy Ball in rapid succession!" Munna floated up, and began to shoot ball after ball towards Geodude, each stronger than the last. Munna ended at 6, then readied herself for a retaliation.

"Geodude use dig to dodge it!" Roark commanded at Geodude. Geodude barely avoided the incoming energy balls. But he managed to dig himself underground, While Geodude was underground his presence was unknown. Roark took this time to chill.

"That's some speed your Munna has there." He smiled at Ink. Geodude was still underground.

Ink didn't say a word. He believed Roark was trying to get him to speak, to break his concentration. But he wouldn't fall for it. Determination surged through him, and the answer swiftly came to him.

"Munna, keep calm." He said in a soothing voice. "Roark is up to something. Don't let your guard down."

Roark smirked a bit. "Not talking hmm? Well that's awful rude. I just gave your pokemon a compliment." He chuckled a bit and then darted his eyes around the ground. He knew not where his Geodude was but he knew what was going on. He had done this before.

And just in that moment Geodude burst out of the ground. Roark smiled and said, "Geodude use rock throw again!" Geodude then hurled large rocks at the Munna. Geodude's presence had taken Roark by surprise actually. He was expecting his battle plan to go one way. But he had to change it now. Oh well.

"Protect." He calmly ordered. Munna shielded herself with a green orb, and easily defended herself against the rocks. Once the rocks were done, Ink's plan was entering Phase 2. "Psychic!" Munna levitated all the pieces of rock, and formed it into one huge boulder. With all of her effort, she spun round, and sent the boulder speeding towards Geodude.

"Yeah. Whatever." Roark said unnamed. He watched as the giant rock came towards his Geodude. Since the attack was basically Rock it did better than the energy ball. So it hurt his Geodude.

Roark's Geodude felt the weight of the rock hurt him and thus causing him to faint. Roark returned his pokemon and told him to get some rest.

He mumbled to himself. It was one of those trainers hmm? He didn't feel like talking.

Roark then pulled out a second pokeball and threw it. Once the ball opened a large white light appeared in the form on an Onix. The light escaped form the actual form of the Onix.

Roark smirked at his new pokemon on the battlefield.

He calmly said, "Trainer goes first."

"Munna, you've earned a good rest. Return." He said. Fumbling around in his bag, he brought out another Pokeball.

"Frillish, time to shine!" He yelled. The Poké Ball flew through the air, and then, out came a smiling pink Jellyfish. It floated around at a high speed. "Water Pulse." Frillish formed a ball of water, then threw it at Onix. Water Pulse, depending on he size of he object would either trap it if it wasn't too big, or would burst on conctact and attack the target with speedy water currents.

Roark looked over at the Frillish. He then realized that an attack was coming for his Onix. He knew Rock was weak against Water. But then again he remembered. His Onix was strong. Stronger than most Onix.

He looked at Onix and said, "Just take it Onix." The Onix then took the hit from the Water Pulse. It seemed like it did some damage to Onix but not much.

Roark smiled. "Onix use Sandstorm!" Onix whipped up a Sandstorm than whirled around a bit. Then it grew and shrouded the whole field. Since Onix was the user of said Sandstorm and he was rock type. The Sandstorm did no damage to Onix. Nor did it hurt his eyesight. But that wouldn't be the case for the Frillish. Roark smiled.

"Ha! I'm prepared for that!" He shouted. "Ominous Wind!" Frillish then whipped up a strong wind, able to be seen. The sandstorm vanished, and Frillish grabbed hold of Onix.

"Hydro Pump!" Ink ordered. Frillish, at a very close range, shot a huge vortex of water at Onix.

Thought Roark had no anticipated the moves of the trainer he showed no emotion. He smiled as the water came at his Onix.

"Onix use harden!" The large rock pokemon then protected itself against the water. Once it hit Onix. It just rolled off. Roark felt that his Onix would have fainted if it had not hardened.

Roark took the moment.

"Onix use headbutt!" The onix then charged at the Frillish at full force.

Ink stared in disbelief as Onix shrugged off a Hydro Pump. As he stood, shocked, the Onix went in for a Headbutt, Ink merely smirked. The head passed right through Frillish, having no effect.

"Frillish is a Ghost type Pokemon." He informed Roark. "It has a unique typing of Ghost and Water. Now, Ice Beam and Hydro Pump!" Frillish opened it's mouth and shot a frozen spike of water towards Onix.

"Unless you can boost your Special Defence, this'll be a toughie." He said, smirking.

"Yeah."

Roark knew it was over. He kept a sarcastic smile on his face and just let his Onix get hit. There was no point in asking his Onix to dodge the attack. He was already stunned from the missing of his attack and asking to dodge would be to much.

As Onix fainted from the Ice and water blast Roark called him back to his pokeball. He congratulaed Onix and then put his ball away. Then Roark threw out his last pokemon.

It was a Cranidos. The little stone dragon looking pokemon popped out of the ball and let out a small cry. It stood their on the battlefield. Roark shrugged.

"I think you know by this point." He half smiled.

"Frillish, return." He said. Frillish went back into it's Poké Ball, and Ink grabbed Munna's. "Go! Energy Ball!" Munna came forth, and swiftly shot the energy ball. Since it was Grass, it would be strong, but it wouldn't do too much; it looked like it had good defence.

"Cranidos dodge it." Cranidos moved to the left and dodged the energy ball. Cranidos had a smile on it's face. Roark smiled and said, "Cranidos. Use Metal Claw." He pointed at the Munna. Then Cranidos charged at Munna with one of it's claws glowing. The claw extended a bit and turned metal.

The claw hit Munna bang on target, and since it was still weak, was easily knocked out. Ink returned it to it's Poké Ball, then brought out Frillish.

"Water Pulse!" He ordered. Frillish took the water vapor in the air, then formed it into a sphere, then launched it at Cranidos.

Roark was surprised! For once one of his hits landed on the trainers pokemon! Roark smiled then waited for the water pulse to get close. Roark then said, "Craindos, use harden." He smirked. Cranidos then hardened itself and waited for the water pulse to hit. It hit Cranidos and knocked him back. But Cranidos easily got up and readied itself.

Roark smiled, "Cranidos. Use dragon pulse." He was proud of that move. Usually a rock pokemon would never learn a move like that. But with Cranidos being a fossil pokemon and all. And his evolved form was part dragon. The energy made its way towards Munna.

((Btw, Rampardos is just Rock, but can learn Dragon Pulse.))

Frillish was hit by the pulse, as Ink was too astonished. A defence-raising move negating a special attack? Very rare.

"Sorry, Frillish! Water Pulse and Ice Beam!" Frillish's ball of water became instantly frozen, and Frillish shot it full force at her opponent.
