Current Location: Ponyville,

(Road between town and Sweet Apple Acres)

Sun shining, birds chirping and a cool breeze in the air. Now this was living! So thought the blue hedgehog as he lay back against the body of a tall tree, atop one of its long and sturdy branches, his eyes turned towards the sky while he watched the lazy crawl of clouds passing overhead, pressed against an otherwise clear blue sky. Back in Ponyville after a hypersonic trek across to visit the capital, he figured he'd earned a relaxing break before he'd speed off to check out the other cities that he'd heard about in this land they called Equestria. After all, if he was stuck here without a clue as to get home, he might as well enjoy the ride anyway and see the sights! He hadn't really kept count of the days since he's arrived in this strange new world - though in truth with a peaceful world like this one, why would anyone even care to keep score? - and while his thoughts occasionally wandered back to the safety of his friends, he merely shrugged away such cares. After all, they were his buddies - there's no way any nefarious old McNosehair would be able to pull a fast one on them! Well, okay.. maybe all but one of them he didn't need to worry about, the hedgehog let out a chuckling grimace at the thought of the troubles everyone would face if that darned echidna went wild on trickery again.

The sunshine decided to turn it up a few notches, bathing the whole town of Ponyville in its warm glow, and in turn drowning out any lasting concerns that anyone might of had that day, drawing forth a lazy yawn from the hedgehog in the process. A short distance away he could hear the sound of the apple farm being worked on, and a little further away the sound of goings-on in the town, though neither sound was intrusive. After all, that's why he picked this spot! It was just close enough to keep an ear out for anything interesting, but at the same time, safe from any annoyances that might disturb his relaxation. Another yawn escaped the blue blur's lips, even as his eyes started to close.. maybe an afternoon nap wouldn't be such a bad idea, come to think of it..

Bowie traveled on the road between Ponyville and Sweet Apple Acres, whistling softly. He had been hired for a bit of nuisance removal regarding a few slimy ooze monsters generated from a failed alchemical experiment. The alchemist had rewarded him handsomely for his work, his bit pouch quite a bit heavier than it had been before. Now he could relax in the sunshine and clouds, on the road seeking more adventure. He loved roaming the land, and had a greater appreciation for his comrades in arms that had the lower body of a horse. Still, he had lost count of how many days had passed since he had been thrust into this peaceful land from his home world after a magical mishap between the island of Grans and the main Parmecian continent.

His little reverie was broken by the sound of a yawn. Perking his ears, the peach coloured stallion looked up and chuckled to himself. There was that hedgehog again, relaxing against the trunk of the tree atop one of the branches. He gave the trunk of the tree a light knock with the hilt of his sword to get Sonic's attention, calling up to him, "Hey Sonic! Fancy seeing you out here!". It had been a great while since they had last met at a tea house in Canterlot. Now that his trainer's contract was up and he hadn't elected to renew it considering he found the guards and other would-be challengers to be far below his skill level. It was good practice but they just couldn't keep up with him considering the inner drive and incredible experience he had in swordplay. Spell casting swordsponies were a good challenge but they were few, considering the concentration it took to cast spells and swing a sword at him. More often than not, they would be parried and their spells would miss or fizzle out at the jarring clang of steel against magical blade ruining their focus. He hoped the hedgehog would wake up and give him something interesting to do, maybe another adventure?

The sound of a lazy 'hmm?' would roll down from the branch and to the swordpony's ears, signifying the rousal of the hedgehog up above. Lazily, he opened his eyes and began to stretch, releasing another yawn in the wake of his nap being disrupted, and then sat upright and scratched behind his ear with a gloved hand. Leaning over to look down below, the corners of the blue hedgehog's lips curled into a confident grin of amusement, as he called out, "Yo, Bowie! Long time no see!" and then swung his legs out around him, pushing off the branch and nimbly leapt off the branch, landing effortlessly in front of the pony with just the smallest bend of the knees and dusting himself once he stood upright afterwards and faced the sword-wielder.

"Ain't seen ya since the teahouse! What's up?" he casually inquired, acting in that same old familiar fashion with his most recent friend as he did with any other friend he'd make. The way in which he said it conveyed an attitude that said it didn't matter if the time had passed between days or months, every meeting was a 'hello again!' as if they'd barely even been apart longer than a few minutes at best. The hedgehog shifted his weight to one side, cocking one leg a little while the other supported his body, and rested his hand on his hip, while the other raised to push a pinky into his ear and scratch the insides, providing the very image of laziness in this summer heat.

He regarded the hedgehog with a small grin, shaking his head at his leaping from the branch. He had to concede though that he was quite skillful in movement as he barely bent his knees upon landing before him. Just the way he greeted him and his casual attitude towards this meeting was quite the refreshing experience. It was far and away more appealing than the stiff exchanges with the alchemist over the course of the cleanup. Still seeing him rest his hand on his hip and shift his weight to one side brought to mind the fact that he was now a pony and not the human hero of his own world. He sighed and shuffled on his four hooves, sword in scabbard as he shrugged his shoulders in reply to the inquiry. "Not too much, Sonic. Just got paid for taking care of an alchemical mishap. Some liquid got a mind of it's own and kinda oozed around on the floor, eating organic materials... It wasn't too hard to take care of the problem but the alchemist was one of the most stiflingly pompous, egotistical ponies I have ever had to deal with. He wouldn't even admit he had made an error in his calculations! Still he paid me quite handsomely but I wonder how long it will be until he's besieged by some other chemically altered experiment gone awry.", he replied with a soft sigh, shaking his head ruefully.

He quickly brightened up after that tale, his turquoise eyes regarding the hedgehog with a bit of the mischievous boy swordsman he used to be before becoming the hero he was now. Grinning, he felt free in the presence of this hedgehog as he added, "Yeah! It's been quite a while, how has it been for you? I've actually grown quite wealthy in the span I've been here, so I can afford to take things easy for a good while.". He readjusted the headband he always wore and it shifted the hair out of the way of one of his eyes, giving a light laugh as he felt the wind rippling his scarlet cape and showcasing the gold fabric on the underside of it. His blue livery and forest green tunic had a sheen to them in the sunlight, probably why the innocent people of his world called them the Shining Force with him as their leader against the oncoming darkness of Zeon's awakening.

The hedgehog retracted his finger from his ear, blowing on it to rid the digit of any dirt that he'd cleaned out as he listened to the swordpony retell his adventures.. or would they rather be misadventures, given the manner in which he was telling the turn of events? His characteristic grin never lowering for even a moment, he simply nodded in acknowledgement that he was listening, briefly looking around at the road, and the skies for any signs of interest. It was certainly a quiet day, and while he could spot some of the ponies working the apple farm, the road itself seemed to be more or less void of anyone passing through at the present time. No doubt most were either soaking in the sun at home or busy in the town itself. Finally, the pony finished his tale, and turned the question back to him, which caused the blue speedster to shrug.

"Eh, I've just been takin' it easy and seein' the sights. It's a pretty big world out there, so there's more than enough for me to explore," came the short and simple response - ever the adventurer and explorer, there wasn't much else to it. He had no need for money, usually, unless it scored him a bite to eat, and so therefore he didn't make a habit of part-time jobs and the likes. With a lazy stretch, the hedgehog flexed his legs and leaned down to touch his toes, "So what's your next big plan, anyway?"

He shrugged and smiled at the blue hedgehog, not quite sure of what his next move would be either. He also took a look around himself and saw ponies working the apple farm but not much else. It was quiet and the sun was shining brightly. As he watched the hedgehog lean down to touch his toes, he had an idea of what they could do. His eyes just danced with mischief as he reared up and laughed out loud.

"Well, my friend, what say we have a little friendly competition?", he asked the blue speedster, his pulse quickening slightly. It had been so long since he had been challenged himself. The chess board battle in the Desktop Kingdom being the only challenge issued to him. All for a Cotton Balloon that carried his band of crusading warriors to the Floor World inside Creed's Mansion. He hefted his sword and stuck it into the ground before him, chuckling softly before adding, "You may detail the terms of the competition and the rules for play. I will honor them to the letter and to the best of my abilities. You may also set the prize as well. But we should have an unbiased third party to make sure it's done properly."
