Friendship is Magic Issue #15-16

Recommended Posts

A literal bookworm is eating all of Twilight's books while strange cocoons spring up all over Ponyville. Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow and Pinkie have to go inside the stories themselves to reenact and repair them. But what is in the cocoons...?

Some thoughts and observations on chapter 15:

Daring Do and a number of fictional characters come bursting out of the cocoons. Even though Spike mentions the events of "Power Ponies", putting this story after "Daring Don't", Applejack, Fluttershy and Spike don't bring that up at all though. However, Applejack and Fluttershy aren't Daring fans, so the weirdness of having a second Daring running around now might be lost on them.

The artist has a lot of fun depicting the fiction worlds and the damage done to them. The panels are eaten away in places, leaving ragged blank spots that the ponies can see and interact with. Each world changes the appearance of the ponies to match it (Rarity getting a princess gown and a huge mane in a fantasy story, Rainbow becoming Daring in a Daring Do story, Pinkie becoming a maid in a romance story and so on).

The bookworm is the first true villain in the IDW series since the Nightmare Forces, although it seems more on the level of those gremlins from Micro-Series.
