ziddia
So. I have a PHP script uploaded on my website that allows me to have an avatar that changes every time you reload the page, and I tried to use it here. I have used it on my forum, and it worked perfectly. My forum is running phpBB 3.0.9. Anyway. When I tried changing my sig to use this, it said that it couldn't use gif filetypes. Is there a reason, or is it perhaps because of the script? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Autumn
There is no fault with this board... If your own board is allowing users to post scripts in or embedded in avatar images you have a MAJOR GAPING SECURITY RISK right there.
ziddia
Oh, no, it's not a script, per say. It uses a script to select a random image determined by the next directory bit- I'm not sure how to describe that- anyway, It's going /the directory/avatar.php/img.gifWell, there's no option to turn off this sort of link, considering it's just accessing an image file, phpBB doesn't know what to do. It works on every other phpBB board I've been on. Which just made me wonder why it didn't work here. Also, it told me that only jpg files were supported... I just remembered that, if it means anything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
brianblackberry
You can have a GIFs file for your avatar, just not any script file to run it.
ziddia
Ah, okay. I was just curious, since it had worked in every other forum I've been to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
