Name: Phoolery

Sex: Male

Age: Stallion

Species: Earth Pony

Eye colour: Emerald Green

Coat: Wheat Gold, however Phoolery is often clad in full Jester's regalia, complete with a unique masquerade mask. The suit he wears alternates black and red, in a traditional Harlequinn pattern, and is made up of three pieces. Pants, tunic, and headdress. The leg sleeves end in frilled points, tipped with jingle bells. The head dress covers the entire head and neck. It is a traditional Jester's coxtom, with two floppy crescent points tipped with jingle bells at the tips, and is split down the middle black and red. At the base of the neck are frilled points, with jingle bells, much like the legs and headdress. He wears plain white booties over his hooves to complete the look. The mask he wears is a plain white theater mask, with eyes that are encircled painted blue at the top, purple in the shadow, red in the liner and traced at the edges in gold. The entire ensemble is very well kept and maintained.

Mane/Tail: Deep blue, but his tail is usually kept very short and he has his mane shaved for comfort within his costume.

Physique: Rather tall, and rather thin. Thin mostly in part to his sparse diet,

Residence: A small box carriage, that Phoolery pulls from place to place. It's rather run down. Contained within are a small Carnival tent and other amenities. Phoolery tends to make camp on the outer limits of the towns he visits. This is all due to his profession as a travelling performer. He does often return though to the family home in Stalliongrad though, mainly for holidays and other such things.

Occupation: Traveling freelance jester/street performer.

Cutie Mark: A laughing theater mask, identical to his costume's mask, encircled with blue ribbons behind it.

Phoolery earned the mark, during his father's birthday party. Dressed in the Jester's clothing he's grown so much to rely on, Phoolery inserted himself into the crowd under the guise of a hired entertainer. Thanks to the mask, no one knew it was actually him who was cartwheeling around the party. Juggling mugs while walking on a rolling keg of sparkling cider. Swinging from crystal chandeliers while laughing like a sprite. Soon the party was applauding his every feat, and laughing at his prat falls, and pranks pulled on members of the audience. His own father was brought to tears with his own laughter, after Phoolery managed to pull a particularly tricky prank on his two brothers. He had the two colts under the impression that they were partaking in a classic, "pick a card trick." However, the trick seemed to fail, and both laughed at the Jester as he seemed to be incompetent at parlor tricks. As they turned to move away however, they found that their tails had been tied together! After the party had ended, Phoolery's father insisted on meeting this extraordinary Jester. You could imagine his own surprise, to find that it had been Phoolery the entire time. His oldest son, such a shy and odd colt, had made his birthday party the talk of the city. As father and son embraced, that cutie mark appeared on Phoolery's flank.

History:

Phoolery was born in Stalliongrad, into the Chaffe family. A line of shrewd merchants, that owned and operated several Mills along the river Stadia. Phoolery's mother, Wheat Chaffe, would tell you that he was born laughing, and that he was always an excitable foal. She certainly wasn't wrong, as Phoolery was always easily entertained in his infancy. As he aged, his happy attitude and broad sense of humor blossomed much to the chagrin of his father, Corn Chaffe, who found the boy's persona not befitting of a Chaff. His father hoped it was a phase, and sent the colt off to study under some of Stalliongrad's finest tutors in the ways of business. Phoolery seemed to not care in the least for his education, and as such he flunked out of several private tutor programs. As the oldest of 3 brothers, he was expected to take over the family business, but that seemed impossible to do when one's son was a fool. There was something deep inside Phoolery that yearned for freedom, and the need to make the world smile. His home town of Stalliongrad was so cold, and serious. Ponies in the streets always looked so tired, and over worked. Indeed, Stalliongrad was known for being a town of industry, but even hard workers needed to laugh now and then. As Phoolery's brothers took on the mantle of a "proper chaff," Phoolery found himself ignored by his father. Cast aside in favor of the sons whom understood what was expected of them

Phoolery's later colthood was lonely; his sunny disposition, and overt sense of humor retreated. He became shy and nervous around people, since his constant antics never seemed to entertain anyone but his mother. Wheat Chaffe noticed the change in her son, and it worried her deeply. Where there had once been a happy and energetic colt, there was now a sad and quiet soul. Seemingly lost. It was on a cold winter's evening, when she took her son to visit her own mother. Phoolery's grandmother was a bit of a stranger to him. She lived in a small house at the edge of the Stadia river. It was a small, and cozy little shack, more fit for a working class family than the regal halls of the Chaffe estate. He usually only ever saw her on holidays. That evening was nothing special, as far as Phoolery knew. His mother and grandmother talked for some time about him. Phoolery waited outside as snow drifted gently to the ground. Making miniature snowstallions with sad looking faces. Soon though, his mother called him into the cottage, and Phoolery dragged his sorry hide in. His grandmother sat him next to her, and brought out a large photo album. She went on to tell Phoolery about her youth, as a clown in the Bridling Brother's Circus. In fact, he was the descendant of a long line of famous clowns, who had brought laughter and joy to the ponies of Equestria for ages. That had all ended when the Bridling Brother's Circus had gone bankrupt. His grandmother had settled into Stalliongrad, and married a local mill worker. Ending the family tradition of clowning. She knew that he had the gift and the drive for comedy. It was his calling, and his destiny. She would teach him everything she could.

Thus Phoolery took up living with his grandmother in her cottage by the river. Learning to juggling, prat falling, dancing, and even some parlor tricks. Slight of hoof, acrobatics, gymnastics, and even how to sew and paint. Phoolery studied under his grandmother for two full seasonal cycles. Throughout, Phoolery's mother would visit and delight in her son's performances. Soon a plan was hatched. Phoolery would prove his father that he could be a great jester, during his upcoming birthday party.

As father and son embraced, that a cutie mark appeared on Phoolery's flank. The grinning visage of his Jester's mask, draped in blue ribbons. With his cutie mark earned, as well as his father's acceptance of his chosen path, Phoolery entered into Stallionhood with a purpose. He would be the best professional fool there was. So he loaded up a wagon, said goodbye to his family, and set off on the open road. Travelling from town to town, and leaving laughter and smiles in his wake.

Character Summary:

Phoolery is a clown, through and through. He is entirely focused on making ponies laugh. However his chosen dress, and style, might come off as unsettling to others. His insistence on performing while masked, and the mask itself, has scared quite a few ponies who he has surprised. Overall though, he means well. His costume is a bit of a crutch however, as without it on he quickly becomes a shy, and anxious wreck around others. He feels more like himself when he's in the costume. Phoolery loves to perform, and make ponies laugh, as it is his calling in life. He prefers younger audiences, as they can be less critical, however fillies and colts tend to not have bits to spare. Performing in a town square is a special joy of his, as children will usually bring him more attention, and thus a larger audience.

Phoolery is a sucker for good food, and will more often than not, do whatever he is asked to if a meal is promised. His appetite is only matched by his sense of humor. Phoolery has a special place in his heart for the open road, with nothing but blue sky above and green grass below. That feeling of adventure and the unknown, helps drive him forward, and when he sets up camp, he always looks forward to getting back on the road, and into the next location to perform at.

Phoolery hates rain. It makes his costume wet and keeps his audience indoors. A rainy day could also mean a day of hunger, and boredom. Sure, they can give him time to patch his tunic, and touch up the paint on his mask, but those aren't long enough tasks to take up a whole day. The dreadful after effects of rain. Mud, muck, and puddles cause loads of issues for the jester. His cart wheels can get stuck, puddles restrict performance space, and muck can take forever to scrub off his pantaloons.

Phoolery is decent at sewing and painting. However purely for the purposes of costuming, mainly maintenance of his own. More of a hobby than anything marketable. It's also not where his interests lie, and he only bothered to take up such things due to his profession as a travelling performer, and his often limited budget. While happy with his current lifestyle, Phoolery wants a position that would give him a level of pride, and put him on the same level as his great-great-great grandmother. He's set his eye on three specific locations, that he has dared not step hoof in until he is ready. Canterlot, the Crystal Empire, and Ponyville. The young jester deeply wants what any jester would want. To become a "court jester," and be an entertainer for the Princesses of Equestria.

Alright, first off, I am not a RPH.

However, I feel I should point out...

Name: Poolery

that you misspelled the name of your character, going off the rest of the sheet.

Other than that, I can't help much. Maybe flush his backstory out a little.

*Facehoof*

Wow, that was a rather amateur mistake. Noted, and edited!

Also, noted about the backstory! I will have to work on this, as Phoolery is supposed to have been at this for some time, and he's not been all that successful in truth. He's not much more than a wandering clown, with little to no money or fame for that matter.

Hello and welcome to canterlot :)

Little disclaimer, I AM NO RPH, just a user helping someone out.

At a glance, the first thing i see is that the CM story is a bit short, i suggest that you expand it a bit. You could explain in detail the event he got his cutie mark instead of briefly mentioning it.

'The moment a filly or colt gets his or her cutie mark is a moment they can tell in great detail'

(quote multiple people have used)

And as i read through Phoolery's history, i found it does not really focus on any big details, it kinda like a brief description. Its long enough to go through as far as i know, but i think that you should extend it to tell us more about Phoolery's past.

With the summary, its pretty good and its basically complete except for one minor detail. It does not say his life goal, or any goal other then making people laugh.

Their is a few spelling mistakes around their, one is in his main which you said 'Beep blue', and minor grammar mistakes but not enough to matter that much.

Keep going pal, so far youv done a really good job :)

Hi there!

Sorry it took so long for a RPH to look over this app.

RDD and Frogmyre gave up great advice, and I see you put it to good use!

Excellent work! I'll recommend this app for further Senior RPH analysis!
