Cutie Mark:  The cutie mark possessed by Nova Burst comes in three parts, for there are three symbols. One of these is a wrench, another is a set of gears, and the last is an explosion. 
History:

 

When he was young, Nova Burst was orphaned in an accident. His only relatives were a set of Earth Ponies who didn't believe he needed training. As the years progressed, this caused his power to become more and more out of control.  As time progressed, Nova realized that he would not receive the education he needed and so when he became about a teenager, he ran away from home. During his travels he found a scrapyard of sorts. Using the parts there, he was able to construct a method of transit for himself, and it was this construction that made him get his cutie mark. It took him 15 attempts to create the vehicle, usually resulting in high powered explosions knocking him out, but he survived.  Still, time marched on and by the time he was a Stallion, Nova still hadn't been trained in how to control his Unicorn capabilities.  A depression sat in, but he overcame it because he realized something.

 

There was one group of individuals in all of Equuestria who would teach him how to control the energy within his horn, namely perhaps the Elements of Harmony or someone associated with the Princesses, anyway. To that end, he's started heading towards Ponyville with his variety of gadgets, and gizmos.
