(On a Train) Trapped, Stuck, and (not) Alone (Private with Brocialism)

Steam grimaced as she looked out the window.  Train attendant had explained to her that they were stuck and delayed due to a technical malfunction.  She was stuck.  In a first-class train car.  In a train.  Between stations.  In Solstice Heights.  In the middle of nowhere.  She began prancing around, worried about what the investors would say at her late arrival.  She pounded hopelessly at the train door.  The doors of each train car and room had been locked to prevent any ponies from wandering as the technicians roamed around with heavy loads, trying to determine the problem and to fix the train.  She was bored, angry, and furious.  She grabbed a nearby doorknob and pulled, "Ahh!  Oh my Sun!  I'm so sorry!"  The door was a gateway to another train car/room-revealing another pony.

For the past couple of minutes Caber had been doing nothing special except switching between pacing around the room and looking out of the window in the faintest hope that the train will continue moving. The whole reason he got on the train was because he heard of some job offering somewhere and there was a great deal of promise that it would be a high paying one, so of course he had a suitcase filled with his tools lying in the middle of the train room. Caber was just about to stare out the window again when the door that connected to his room to some other one had swung open revealing the passenger in the other room. At first he was shocked to see the pony, but that soon subsided as he quickly became revealed that he wasn't the only pony in the car. He let out a sigh of relief and replied "Uh, don't worry, you weren't intruding on anything important. Your room locked to, huh?" Caber obviously knew the answer would be "yes", but he just wanted to talk.

"Yeah...I'm dying to get to this extremely important meeting-and I don't know how to explain my very late state!"

Steam was both embarrassed and flustered at her lack of sense towards the stallion-especially how she had barged into his room. She hung her head low, "Sorry,", and stepped back into her room. She forgot to close the door though, and grimaced at her own foolishness and klutz.

Caber looked through the open door at steam and gave a small smile, "Ah, don't worry about the door thing. What kind of meeting are you going too?"

Sure there were plenty of other places Caber wanted to be right now, but the least he could do for himself is make the best of it. After all he didn't want to come off as the type of pony who would out right slam the door on the mare. The last thing Caber wanted was to be alone and be rude to somepony.

"Well, if you don't know, I'm Steampunk Metal-the billionaire owner of Easy Street Markets.  I'm always looking to expand my stores, and this accredited investor I'm meeting could boost our market values by half with his connections.  Our current stocks are currently in deflation, which could make a standing impact on my company's reputation if it enters bear market.  Our book value still rests the same as a few months back, even though I had made a standing prediction that it would increase by 0.5%.  This investor group could launch us into bull market, and we hope to increase the interest rate to encourage more prospect investors,"

She launched into business jargon, revealing the buisnessmare that she truly was.

"Uh...", was all Caber could say, he had a very small understanding of what Steam was talking about mainly because he had heard his grandpa use those kinds of words before. What he did know about though was Easy Street Markets since he had done some repair work in some of those stores before. He never came around to finding out who owned the chain though, but now here he is talking to the billionaire owner.

"Well hello Ms. Metal, the name's Caber Fern de Spruce. You can just call me "Caber" though. Can't say that I'm off to a business meeting, but I am off to some woodwork job. Though the job isn't as important or uh...economic as what you're going to.", right after he finished talking he quickly brought up a chair from the corner of his room and put it in front of the doorway so he could sit down.

Steam smiled, "I believe that everything is important in life, but whether it's important in yours or mine is another matter. Woodwork, eh? My brother used to like working with that stuff. I tried it-never got the hang of it. Do you repair buildings?"

Caber scratched his head and chuckled a bit, "Well I don't really excel in repairing buildings, only wooden ones really, I do more crafting than repairing honestly. Heck, the only reason I'm on this train is because somepony wants some excess wood of their's to be shaped into something more decorative. Not really a business meeting if you ask me. That is not to say that I don't enjoy my work, woodworking has been my passion ever since I was wee."

Caber motioned behind him to his suitcase that was on the floor, "In fact, I even have most of my tools packed my suitcase. Wasn't really difficult fitting them in since I don't pack much, which is weird since I really get around...Speaking of traveling, where you from?"

When Caber heard her questions he let out a slight laugh, "Well as far as destination goes, I got on board at Hollow Shades and will be getting off at Hoofington...if the train ever starts moving again...", Caber then smirked and put a hoof to his chin and began thinking, "Regarding watching me make something, well I would need some wood and I don't think the train company would let me make a knick-knack out of their doors. And besides, wouldn't want to get wood shavings and dust all over my room."

Steam sighed, "Alrighty, then. So-since we're stuck here anyways: Mind telling me a little bit about yourself? My name is Steamounk Metal, as I've said earlier. I come from a big family with lots of love, a little farmhouse in Garden Gait. After the farm went...bankrupt, in a way, all of my siblings fled to different places. I ended up with my closest fir other and his fiancé, residential Baltimare. I travel constantly between Baltimare, Manehattan, and Hoofington, and an proud to call both my home,"

A little bit surprised to here the sudden openness from Steam, Caber nodded and listened before replying, "Well, I'm from Fetloch, not that you'd notice it from my voice. My family came together from different parts of Equestria which I guess is why I got a name like 'Caber Fern de Spruce'. Can't really say my family ever faced something like bankruptcy, but there's always been some troubles between my father's side and my mother's side. As far as where I stay nowadays, I've traveled so much that I can't keep track."

Caber quickly thought of something and let out a slight giggle, "Heck, I've probably been to all around Equestria three times over what with all the work I've been doing."

Steam gasped, amazed at him, "At least THREE TIMES?  I'd love to travel all across this wonderful place-but I never seem to find the time.  Being an investor and head of a large business had its benefits, but it also has its cons.  This is one of them,"  She looked wistfully into space, the train still hadn't begun moving yet.

"Where is your stop?  I'm heading out at Downtown Canterlot-need to head to a very important meeting.  I don't know how to explain to them on my tardiness-It's not something I'm used to!"

Caber scratched his head and shrugged, "Well I suppose it doesn't really matter where I get off at now, heck I was originally going to stop off at Hoofington but considering how things are going right now I'll just get off at the first stop and avoid trains all together." Caber looked out a window as well and then looked at Steam again.

"Heh...I suppose you could tell the ponies at the meeting that your plans to come on time were 'train wrecked'...heh...just trying to lighten the mood." Feeling awfully proud at the pun he just made, Caber gave a pretty big smile.

Steam laughed, too-it was good to have the mood lighten," Do you think we could ring the service bell for some food? I'm starving-and oatmeal bars can't exactly satisfy this hunger,". She turned back into her room, checking to see if her room was still locked.

Shrugging a bit, Caber got off of the chair he was sitting on, "Only one way to find out I suppose, go ahead and ring it. I'm getting pretty hungry too."

Anxiously looking over Steam's shoulder, Caber watched to see if the door would still be locked. If the train still not moving was any sign than Caber's guess was that it would still be locked.

She pressed the bell, and a sharp buzz resounded against her ear. A pony's voice said, "Sorry, but all food, water, and various other amenities have been discontinued for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Meanwhile, all guests with a snack bar may consume such good without any fee. We sincerely apologize, thank you,"

She grimaced and turned to Caber, "You hear that?"
