Physique:  Regal looking, King Sombra's body looks like it is very athletic. Although it may be invisible some scars are on his hooves that look like they are very painful. Typically Sombra wears garments of black and purple, to make him look more regal and royal like. A crown made out of a dark blue crystal is almost always worn by him on his head. A cape made out of purple and red fabric is worn by him, and a sword has been recently added by him to his attire.

Unique Traits:

 

Sombra has experienced a disease known as "Hoof Rot" that makes his hooves painfully sensitive to even walking on rough ground, meaning he's constantly in agony. It is this agony that partially contributes to making him into a villain.  The pain level he is at without his boots is about an 11 on a scale of 1-10, and his boots bring it down to about an 8.  It's still very torturous for him to even walk on the ground.  King Sombra has also put numerous spells on himself that extend his lifespan, and prevent disease. It's not as good as actual immortality, but it ensures that he won't die any time soon unless he's killed physically.

 

King Sombra is also capable of numerous forms of rare magic.

 

 

History:

 

The Dark Stallion, King Sombra didn't have the best background.

The Colt and Mare who were his parents happened to be noble ponies in the Crystal Empire.  When he was born it was a hassle for them because it caused them to have a stallion to look after.  As his parents couldn't care for him,  Sombra learned quickly how to use his magic and care for himself. Over time he learned to care for himself, and became stronger. But when he became a teenager things changed. Changelings had infiltrated the kingdom, and a massive attack of Changelings came down upon the Crystal Empire. Gathering a squad of teenage unicorns, Sombra immediately started to train in Dark Magic with them and learned to tap into fear, rage, anger and hatred. 

 

As he did so,  it was revealed he wasn't a Crystal Pony at all... but their antithesis namely an Umbrum Pony. Whereas Crystal Ponies drew their strength from light and love,  Umbrum Ponies drew power from negative emotions, and darkness.  Using his sheer magical power King Sombra launched a one man massive offensive upon the Changelings, having his elite Unicorns help out elsewhere.  When he realized the Changeling King was inside the Crystal Empire Castle near his marefriend, he immediately clashed with the King, and fought him to a stand still.  When he realized the Changelings had impersonated his marefriend, he boiled over with rage and that allowed his dark magic to grow strong enough to win. Opening a portal of darkness, he sucked all the Changelings out of the Crystal Empire.

 

Once that had been done, the Dark Magic he used took it's toll on Sombra, and corrupted him. As it did so, he forged a certain pendant, the Alicorn Amulet but at that time it was known simply as the "King's Gem" a power booster for himself.  Once the corruption had taken over, Princess Celestia and Luna came to battle him with the Elements of Harmony.  However what they didn't know was that the Elements of Harmony would actually trigger a curse he had put in place that would cause amnesia, and banish the Crystal Empire for 1000 years.  Upon it's eventual return, he took control but was soon routed by Twilight Sparkle, and friends. Later on he was defeated by Twilight Sparkle and Spike the Dragon.  Awakening recently King Sombra has realized that he needs his race of Umbrum ponies back into play.

 

Searching the world for somewhere he could build a home without interruption, King Sombra was able to discover the Ancestral lands of the Umbrum that were past the bad-lands.  Once he had discovered the location of his ancestral home, King Sombra immediately went to work. Creating a castle out of blue and black crystals with some gold thrown into the mix,  King Sombra's made himself presently a small castle and has started crafting a sword solely out of crystals, metal and dark magic.  But as he did so, one of the Princesses of his world cast a spell, banishing him to this one.

 

Yet when he arrived in the ancestral lands of the Umbrum Ponies he realized something wasn't right. Unlike in his world, the Umbrum Ponies were suffering because there was very little dark emotions, and dark magic for them to feed off of.  Irritated that the Princesses could go to such lengths, and believing they wished to wipe out the Umbrum Ponies entirely, King Sombra channeled those negative emotions and created a sword made out of dark magic, and his anger at the stupidity of certain people. Presently, King Sombra's set out on a journey to gather allies, so he can replenish the power of the Umbrum Ponies.

 

 

 

 

 

Character Summary/Personality:

 

As royalty,  King Sombra takes a pride in his appearance.  Constantly in pain due to hoof rot that he's had in the past, but overcome Sombra's trying to forget that he had the disease at one time. Due to this even the mere mention of removing his boots will earn someone a Horn Blast to the face.  Determined that he's not going to die by the hand of Princesses, Dragons, Unicorns, Earth Ponies or other species,  King Sombra has decided to not underestimate any of them again.  For this very reason he has started making plans of his own, planning on taking an apprentice he can groom in dark magic, to help him rule the Umbrum ponies, and eventually regain his full strength.  Of course Sombra isn't without his flaws, as he's somewhat angry at Cadence, Shining Armor, Twilight and Spike.

 

To put it bluntly, Sombra wants them and Celestia and Luna dead. But given the size of their defenses and all the alliances they have, King Sombra has realized that he cannot do so. For it would only result in disaster for him. However, he's also realized that he must build himself an evil palace,  and eventually forge a kingdom that cannot be destroyed so easily.  In addition, he's learning from the mistakes he made in the past, namely using a relic that he himself didn't actually make.  King Sombra absolutely despises people who call others Blank Flank as he believes it to be a derogatory term, and would probably end up blasting said individuals with the might of his horn. Calling him a blank flank is like asking for trouble. While he won't admit it, King Sombra does have feelings for Celestia.

 

Due to the fact he's in a new world, King Sombra has no intention of conquering Equuestria but instead digging out the Umbrum ponies,  and finding their ancestral lands... building his kingdom and making sure it's well defended. In addition, he plans to ensure that he's never rainbow cannoned, or crystal hearted out or hit with the elements of harmony, again.  Another issue is that King Sombra's race, the Umbrum Ponies need negative emotions, and dark magic to survive, and he can't generate enough on it's own. Right now he's frantically looking for a solution to the problem.

 

Sombra is also very dedicated to protecting the Umbrum Ponies and will go to any length so as to ensure survival of the Umbrum Ponies. There is potential for Sombra to reform, but it is unlikely he will do so, given the dietary needs of the Umbrum ponies.
