Name:   King Sombra

Sex: Stallion

Age:  Middle Aged Unicorn.

Species: Unicorn

Eye colour: Red and Green but his eyes are also glowing with a strange smoke that surrounds them because of his corruption.

Coat:  Black

Mane/Tail: His mane and tail are black, and red.  His hair is styled so it flows a bit near his shoulders, but doesn’t go past it.

Physique:  Fairly athletic for a Unicorn.

Residence:  Migrant

Occupation: Dark Magic Master

Cutie Mark:   A Black Hole-  This represents the Dark Magic that he wields,  and how it consumes regular magic,  and drives him to conquer everything.   The Black Hole also represents that he’s the dark pillar for Equestria to stand on.

Unique Traits:   As a Unicorn,  King Sombra is tall for his species… having height that makes him stand as tall as Celestia,  and Luna.

 

History:

 

Like any other colt,  Sombra was a blank flank in his childhood.  Due to the dark coat he possessed, even if he did receive it, the cutie mark wouldn’t even reveal itself. From an early age he hung out with friends and tried his best to help them get their cutie marks while attempting to keep them from anything too dangerous.   Yet as time would have it each and every last one of his friends got his cutie mark,  he didn’t.  Some of the snobbish ponies began horrifically tease him about being a “Blank Flank”  and harassed him about it every moment he was around them.   

 

Every pony suffers a breaking point.  The breaking point for Sombra was when most of his class got their cutie marks,  and he had yet to get his.   Going into the Crystal Archives,  the Famous Library of the Crystal Empire King Sombra poured himself into studying magic,  but not just any kind… but dark magic.  Studying dark magic,  he planned to force his destiny to manifest itself because he was sick and tired of being a blank flank.   Through his studies,  his cutie mark did indeed manifest itself in the form of a black hole.  Still there was one problem with that,  the color of his coat to be exact.  With his coat completely black,  and his cutie mark a black hole it would appear as if he were a blank flank.   

 

The studies of Dark Magic motivated him eventually to attack Queen Amore,  and defeat her. But rather than kill her,  he did something worse to her.  Turning her into crystal with his magic,  he broke her and scattered the crystal shards all across the planet.  Once that had been done,  King Sombra assumed the throne of the Crystal Empire,  and started his oppression.

 

Motivated by the emotional pain he possessed because of being an adult ‘blank flank’,   King Sombra slowly succumbed to the corruptive influence of the dark magic that he possessed,  eventually oppressing his ponies so bad that the Alicorn Sisters came and battled against him.   Of course when one battles a couple of Alicorns,  especially Celestia and Luna one is bound to lose. Stripped of his corporeal form he was bound beneath the ice but managed to activate a curse he had created that would put the Crystal Empire into a magical stasis for a thousand years.

 

Upon the Empire’s rebirth from the Stasis,   King Sombra attempted to reclaim the Empire that he had seized by Force.  His attempt was met and countered by the efforts of Six Mares,  and a young drake. Both times he attempted it.   Upon his second defeat,  it took him the better part of several years in order to recover from the magic he’d been blasted with.  It wasn’t until recently that Sombra returned.  Having been out of the loop for so long, King Sombra has decided he needed to learn more about what has been happening during his absence.

 

After his defeat,   King Sombra has realized that he can never again hold power because chances are he’d be opposed by both Alicorns,  the Six Mares and the Dragon.  Given he has no desire to be blasted with the Crystal Heart, or Elements of Harmony ever again,  he’s been doing his best to lay low and avoid drawing any kind of attention to himself whatsoever.   While living without any form of servants may be a bit tiresome.  It is for the best because he doesn’t want to attract the attention of any members of royalty and have to battle them.   At times he misses being a royal,  but, given he doesn’t have a death wish,  will never attempt to reclaim the throne he once possessed.   While he may no longer wish to be King, Sombra is still protective of his subjects and secretly protects the borders of the Crystal Empire from outside threats (ex. Arctic Wolves and other similar nuisances.)  

 

Character Personality:

 

The former King of the Crystal Empire,   King Sombra carries himself with pride and decorum putting pride into his appearance.   To this end,  King Sombra often wears polished armors personally polished by him as well as a cape he’s personally cleaned.   Armor is worn by him over his flank as a means of hiding what he believes to be a cruel hand of destiny, namely that he appears to be a blank flank and believes that he is one.  Any teasing about the supposedly blank flank possessed by King Sombra is not wise,  especially if anypony values their health given that he loathes being called the term that he deems a slur against ponies.   While he may not admit it,  King Sombra is actually glad that the Crystal Ponies overthrew him because it means they now possess the strength to not insult one another about missing a piece of themselves, such as their cutie mark. Although,  he’s still a bit doubtful on the last part to be honest.   Despite no longer having an empire,   King Sombra still views himself as royalty and carries himself with the pride and demeanor befitting someone who is in charge.

 

 

Character Summary:

 

Sombra is a Stallion of his word,   when he makes a promise you can practically take the promise he’s made to the mint,  as no matter what he won’t break his word.   Sombra is also a schemer and is not above manipulating other ponies in order to make his goals happen.   Despite that he is secretly protective of his empire,  and doesn’t view his oppressing the ponies as wrong.  There is a longing within him for friends,  although he buries it deep feeling that most ponies would probably try to have him arrested or executed.
