ShadowStorm88 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Share Posted September 5, 2011 And thus their journay began!!It started with the group traveling many miles across the deseret at a slow pace, since althoguht they wanted to get their qiuckly, they had to keep at a decent pace to prevent becoming dehydrated. He could fly at high speed, but he;d be leaving his partner in the dust so he walked alongside her. Wasnt easy, but he sure as heck was lookin forward to the dangers they were sure to encounter. Even if she was beginning to really have high hopes for this excursion, she did still want to get it done with as quick as she could."You get used to that kind of heat when you live out here long enough," said Lady with a laugh as she watched the other pony sweat. Then thats when he heard something in the distance. Blinking, he raised his ear as it caused the very earth to shake and rumble as a high pitched whilstlying whirled into the air. "What is that" Val said softly as he tried to keep his ear up. He could see something appraoching at high speed in the dsitance..was...was that a sandstorm??? The storm appraoched quickly as the winds picked up and threanted to lift the two off thier hooves!! Ducking behiind a large boulder, Val closed his eyes as the storm started to go over the two of them. "This is what they have to deal with all the time?? Wooow" he thought in slight awe. Just what sort of dangers was this silly pony going to subject her to? She wasn't some young filly anymore. There was only so much she could take."Ha...." Lady started, still breathing a little rough from fear and exertion. "A storm like that just ain't natural for this desert. It's sure lucky this here rock was around."Lady sighed again. She was right. She wandered these deserts constantly, and a sandstorm with winds like that was unheard of. She wondered if some maligned pegasi hadn't brewed it up specifically for them? Maybe they were being seriously targeted by somepony who wanted to bring this little adventure to a sudden, violent end? Or perhaps that was just paranoia speaking. Lady wasn't entirely sure. He thought that with the desert being a unpredicatble as it was, that their was a whole bunch of storms that all circled and caused problems for any passer by. But then again, he had to admit that he had heard of sandstorms and.well..had never heard of them being this big. Then again, he wasnt a pony form out west. This did seem wrong though like...why would it suddenly appear after they had left for the sword? They could have gone at any other time and nothing could have happened since theyd be passing through, but on the day they just happen to want to find a lost mythical treasure. Bah!! "Maybe it was just a freak occurrence, but then again maybe it was also deliberately created for us.""I mean, that encounter with those thugs earlier does make me think somepony might know you have that map of yours," the mare added after a few moments of rest. Though he was apparently firm in saying as much. Maybe it was property of the royalty that somehow arrived in his hooves? If so, that would explain it's value to their attackers. "If you say so," said Lady, smirking evenly. "Well... hopefully it's nothing and we aren't being tailed."That said, Lady followed after Valoren as they began to follow the map once more. He had a special destyiny to fufill and he was going to see to it htat it was!! Watching the two from afar, he spoke to the thieves. "Hmmm...see if they can..handle another extersion. She still wasn't sure what to make of this little adventure she had gotten herself into. She was far from completely deterred though. As a gambler, Lady knew that greater risk yielded greater rewards. That's how it usually worked at least."How's our progress?" asked Lady, looking at the other pony after a while. We just need to keep going in this direction, and we should be good!! What we need however is to make sure that we dont run into anymore...unpleasentatires". That storm made him abit edgy and he was wondeing if thier were gonna be any more surprsises. He got that answer rather quickly as suddenly over the desert somthing charged at them at high speed. Watch out" Val shouted as the masked ponies suddely brandished weapons as they attacked from above at the two. Val dove aside, as he hoofed on in the cheek, as he sliped between ones legs as he axe kicked his spine, forcing him down. Gasping as one got him in a head lock and the another charged in an attmepth to run him throuhg, he jumped up as he avoided getting stabbed. He'd get himself killed like this. At the very least he'd reopen his wounds from the earlier encounter.Lady sighed as she decided she had better help the crazy pony. She'd feel kind of bad if he just died. Quickly she ran toward the group of thugs. She got the attention of one of the ponies. He swung at her powerfully with a large blade. She dodged the blow, causing the weapon to get stuck in the sand where she had stood. She then lifted her front hooves suddenly and let each of them connect with the poor fool's jaw. Lady shouted as she charged the pony quickly, tackling him to the ground. She wasn't about to let their one ticket to untold treasure slip through their hooves. RarityDash Posted September 16, 2011 Report Share Posted September 16, 2011 Lady continued dodging attacks like crazy. Opportunities to counter were few, but every so often she'd get in a good kick. She really did want to avoid anypony getting hurt this time. Of course, recovering the map was even more important than that.Lady snuck up on one of the ones Valoren was fighting and delivered a critical strike to his side, which caused him to topple over in pain and not get back up. Head butting another into the wall, he whirled around in time to get socked in the jaw as he stumbled backwards as he was held in a lock by one pony. Lady moved quickly after that to take down another one with her hooves. After a few more moments, practically all the thieves seemed incapacitated. "Just who are you ponies?"
