Princess Twilight Sparkle, Ruler of Equestria-
No!
Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship-
No, no, not good enough!
Ruler of Equestria and the Princess of Friendship, Twi-
Uggh, the arrogance!
Princess Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship and Equestria-
That'll do. At least for now.

Twilight slaved over the introduction to her invitations more than she perhaps needed to, but even in the frustration of her own perceived imperfections she found a degree of solace in the inanity of the concern. It was easier than accepting what the invitations were for. Easier than truly thinking about what sending them meant.

She was going to rule Equestria, yes. And she had become more accustomed and settled with the concept in theory and practice, but this document was different. She was inviting dignataries from the Equestrian continent to meet with her so she could establish personal diplomatic ties with them. It was the first event of any international import after her ascension and coronation to the throne of Equestria, alone. Bigger ones would follow without a doubt but this was a nice stepping stone. Thorax, Ember, maybe Queen Novo? The major leaders of the Griffon nations? The High King or Queen of the Caribou? Maybe that was a bit of a stretch since that was just off the continent, but she'd accept it.

The one that came to mind right now, however, was the new King of the Velvet Strand, King Oisin. His rise was quick and not well understood, like many things in that kingdom. Equestria didn't have much cause for official contact with them. They were intensely peaceful isolationists whose only desire was to keep their pristine land as beautiful as they were, and Equestria saw no need to fight this desire. Thusly, over the years, contact was cordial but infrequent, visits not uncommon but usually brief, and tourism impossible to stop but actively discouraged. How was he though? Well, she'd get to know him better. The rest she knew a little bit, at the very least. King Oisin, however, was a mystery and she tended to like solving them. So she finished the rest of her formal invitation tendered to him and went about her business. He would be first, but she was sure that there would be enough to satisfy her curiosity.

Two Months, Two Weeks Later
Canterlot Castle

Twilight ruled alone.
Hard to get used to. So much had happened. So much would happen! She was thankful today was going to be a little less hectic. Today was the day that he was to meet with King Oisin, who was going to get an escort through the city and to the castle, then to the scenic gardens that surrounded the rear of the palace. Scenic to her, anyway. How it would rate against the beauty of the Velvet Strand, she did not dare think. She just hoped she would suffice as company! She had a table set up with some fine chairs and tea, with the birds and other small animals that populated the gardens going to and fro, calming in its natural state. This would suffice. This had to suffice. She had to suffice, and not just for Equestria.

But for her guest, the Good King Oisin!
