The clip-clop of hooves on tile drew the eyes and ears of the Princess. Well you certainly didn’t expect to waltz into a public space without attracting attention, did you, old girl? Celestia chuckled to herself. She couldn’t lie to herself or anypony else; she was no paramour of the visual arts. Most of her knowledge was academic and acquired merely through slow osmosis over the years. Nevertheless, here she was and there they were.

“Your Majesty!” a posh voice declared.

“Miss Fleur de lis. A pleasure to finally meet your acquaintance after sitting in for your productions,” the Princess smiled. “And Mister Fancy Pants, I’m sure Sir Brighton was most delighted with your attendance.”

The sound of flashbulbs and the rumbling brouhaha of the gallery crowd attracted Celestia’s ear. It seemed that the most recent entrance had gained quite the bit of attention from both the press and the rank and file gallery-goers. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a flash of blonde, a trace of white. It was immediately apparent just what all the hubbub was about. Celestia put on her best good-natured smirk as she prepared for the imminent arrival of her famous-- infamous rather-- “nephew.”

Prince Blueblood arrived, and bowed his head gracefully. "My liege. Master Fancy Pants and Miss Fluer de Lys. So good to see you here."

Every word was carefully chosen, as was the order of social ranking. Princess Celestia might be his great aunt many times removed, but presuming on the relationship until she gave him specific permission by calling him nephew would be gauche. Similarly Princess Celestia was too far the other way. It was the formal title every-pony used, and he was not every-pony. Hwever, as Duke of Canter he was her liege pony, and using that title drew attention to his own, and the relationship between them without shouting it out.

Fancy Pants' social standing made him the obvious next choice, and that left Miss De Lys at the tail end. Not that she didn't have a very nice tail end, but once again, gawking would be a social faux pas. Not that plenty of other stallions in the room weren't admiring it instead of the art works.
