Character Summary:

History - Born in Cloudsdale to Carter and Ricochet, two weather factory workers. From the very beginning, Jammy seemed to be able to find trouble and come out on the lucky side. As a foal he wandered off the edge of a cloud, only to collide with a delivery pony passing underneath, who brought him back to safety. Or when he and his sister were picking around in the kitchen, attempting to climb up the drawers to get on the counter, the silverware drawer slipped all the way out. Jammy fell to the floor and covered his head, only to be hit by spoons, as all the knives and forks stuck into the floor around him.

It wasn't until Jammy was in schooling that his parents decided to have the two be left with a sitter, as Summer couldn't seem to keep her younger brother on a leash very successfully. This sitter's name was Archimedes, though he asked that they just call him 'Arch'. He was a tan pegasus stallion with a long brown mane, and always had a smirk on his face. Nothing seemed to bring him down or boher him, and Jammy immediately seemed to get along with the sitter. Arch soon became a huge influence on Jammy's behavior and speech, thinking that the older pegasus was the coolest thing since the Wonderbolts. He found himself using the words 'dude', 'like', 'sweet', 'awesome', and words of that nature a lot, taking on this 'cloudsurfer' personality that Arch had. Whenever Jammy got home from school, he and Arch would practice some low flying and basic tricks, like weaving in the sky, flying upside down, speedtrots, things of that nature, though Arch always made sure that everything they did was safe. Of course, when Arch wasn't around and Jammy had moments to himself, he would practice these tricks unsupervised and often get himself hurt, but never anything serious.

Of course, Jammy's parents didn't approve of this influence and had Arch stop sitting for them. Besides, Jammy was at the age where he could start to look after himself, already in the middle of his flight schooling. Unfortunately, Jammy didn't see Arch outside of home, but his influenced personality and drive for the extreme never left.

During school, Jammy was always the first to volunteer for any sort of demonstration for the class. He loved to fly and hone his skills, though he found school was restrictive. The safety rules were too strict, and at the time he thought the rules were just holding him back. The things he practiced were becoming increasingly dangerous, especially for somepony his size. He especially loved to use the weather factories as his own personal obstacle course. At the time, it was a good idea. He dodged machinery, raced lightning, avoided factory workers trying to kick him out... to him it was all fun and games! He felt invincible!

One day, one of the advanced level flight camps announced they were hosting a youth flight acrobatics competition. Naturally, he signed up. He had four weeks to prepare, and he worked harder on his routines than he ever did before. Though only about three days into his major practice period, he suffered serious injuries from an accident at one of the weather factories. After being treated, and scolded by his parents, he was told he wouldn't be able to compete. However, determination and just a very bad want to compete drove him to take his treatment seriously, and he did everything he could to speed up his recovery.

Three weeks later, most of his injuries were healed enough for him to move about freely, however he still had a broken leg and the competition was two days away. Despite his better judgement and the advise of others, he competed anyway. Though he came in third place out of eight participants at his age level, he was applauded for his bravery and determination to compete with a broken leg. (See Cutie Mark story for greater detail).

From then on, he finally saw the importance of safety, though he didn't want to give up the rush of doing tricks and stunts. When he came of age, he decided he was going to make a living doing performances. Thus, Suicide 4 Hire was born. His routines were adored by young and old alike, even if once in awhile he had a crash. But despite any failure he had, only one had resulted in serious injury. However he usually walked away from crashes, thanks to necessary precaution on his part. Before every show, he'd go over possible dangers and do everything he could to minimize the likeliness of damage should something go wrong. He also made sure to wear protective gear and practice every single bit of each and every routine until he was certain it was perfect and engraved in his head.

He still performs today and does several demonstrations in Cloudsdale and other cities. He hopes to one day make a stunt team of his own, like the Shadowbolts, and build a franchise that would make him famous. His philosophy on flying is to 'go with the flow'. Movement needs to be smooth. Graceful. It needs to flow. Sure, sudden turnarounds and turning on a dime are fancy and cool, but you don't want a flight to be a mish-mash of angles and sudden stops and dashes like you're working against the obstacle. Instead, you must make the obstacle work WITH you. Assess the objective of the obstacle you need to overcome, and find a way to make it flow into your routine. Such fluid motion while at the same time accomplishing sometimes death-defying stunts has gained him a small following of fans, becoming something of a local celebrity in Cloudsdale.

Parents

Carter - Born in Cloudsdale, he never really left the clouds unless it was to visit family friends down on groundlevel. Carter is white in color in both his coat and his mane, his cutie mark being a sealed envelope. His special talent is, oddly enough, delivering things. He spent most of his life pulling carts of materials for the weather factories, and has been an employee of the rainstorm section of the factory for as long as he can remember. He even married his school sweetheart, Ricochet, while both were working in the same factory. He is a proud worker and knows the value of a bit. He believes that if a job is worth doing, a pony should put in 110% to get the job done for the benefit of everyone who looks to that job. Thanks to his prompt deliveries and above-and beyond effort, his factory has the highest satisfactory rating in Cloudsdale... which is actually a pretty big deal. In terms of his son, he thinks Jammy is a twit. Not only because of the way he conducts himself, but also because of what he does. He knows it's his talent, but he always says he'd rather see him do something with his talent that won't give him an early grave.

Ricocht - Also born in Cloudsdale and was quite the athletic filly in her youth. She enjoyed racing a lot, and most likely passed this on to her son. She is a goldenrod color in coat with a bright red mane and tail. She loved to fly and race in school, and was told the Wonderbolts were scouting her once, but she never heard from them so she didn't entirely believe it. As a Mare, and at her sweetheart's suggestion, she signed on with one of the weather factories, taking a particular interest in the rainbow section. She and Carter were married not long after her employment, and their first foal, Summer Breeze came a year or two later. She approves of what her son does, so long as he's careful about. She feels she shouldn't hold him back from what he loves to do, though as a mother she will always be concerned.

Sibling -

Summer Breeze - About two years older than Jammy, she has always tried to be the 'mature' one of the two. Whenever Jammy tried to do something dangerous, she often, and unsuccessfully, tried to be the voice of reason. She is off-white in color with a bright turquoise mane and tail. She has always been interested in fashion and often participated in 'Miss Cloudsdale' beauty contests. It was in one of these contests that she won the grand prize and got her cutie mark: An eight-pointed star, though it most likely represented a camera's flash. She loved being in the spotlight, being adored for her beauty. Not long after her brother started his stunt business, she left Cloudsdale to find a modeling job. The family has yet to hear from her other than she arrived safely in Canterlot.

Cutie Mark Story – After signing up for the flight acrobatics competition, he trained vigorously for any challenge he thought they would throw at him. However, he couldn't think of a way to train in high speed without tuckering himself out. But then he got the bright idea to sneak into Cloudsdale's wind factory. Of course! A Wind tunnel would give him the speed he needs! Sneaking inside one of the shafts, he eventually made his way to one of these tunnels, feeling the breeze fly past his face and send a cool chill down his spine. It was moving much faster than he expected... at least 85mph winds. They must have been preparing for a serious storm somewhere.

Taking a deep breath, he took a step toward the rushing winds. To his great surprise, the tunnel sucked him in! The speed of the wind against his limbs and feathers sent him out of control down the tunnel, and he could not recover! Before he knew it, he smacked into a wall at the other side of the tunnel.

When he came to, he was covered in casts. He had broken almost everything on the right side of his body. Both his legs, his wing, and his flank were in some sort of cast. The doctor told him he was very lucky to be alive, as he would've died had he hit his head or neck on that wall. His parents were furious, his sister just happy that he was ok, and the doctor told him that he would not be able to compete in the competition. This was very saddening news to Jammy, though he didn't want to give up. After negotiating with the doctor, Jammy was told to come back to the hospital for magic and physical therapy. No one thought he'd be able to do it, as he wasn't used to taking it easy or worry about his safety... but Jammy never practiced his routines, even when he thought he was feeling well enough for it. He didn't want to risk it. The near death experience in the factory taught him the value of safety. He showed up at the hospital every day, and no matter how sore, still, or bored he was, he did everything he was instructed to do. He wanted to compete, and he was going to show everyone he had the discipline to recover.

The treatment lasted three weeks, and he had managed to get everything recovered, save for his front right leg, in time for the competition. Normally, his parents would have advised against him competing, though they saw his drive during his recovery. They also saw how he had changed. He was no longer reckless, he always told his parents where he was going and when he'd be back, and he even asked his mother to buy him a helmet and pads! They knew it was what he wanted to do, and now he'd do it carefully.

The day came, and he took his place on the line, hovering to keep his leg off the ground. He didn't need it. A quick look around and he noticed everyone was staring at him. One, because he had a broken leg. Two, he was the only one wearing a helmet. When the competition began, the competitors took off. It was a race to the finish, but having to overcome several obstacles in the process. Flying through moving rings, short tunnels with walls sticking out of the sides that the fliers would have to dodge, poles to weave through, and a 400 yard dash. Jammy made sure to focus on each obstacle and especially take his time in the tunnel, as the bits to dodge sometimes came up much quicker than expected. He knew being careful with it paid off, as he noticed a couple of the fliers never even came out of the tunnels until most of the others had placed.

He crossed the finish line after two other pegasi, though Jammy was the crowd favorite. When asked why he decided to compete, even though he could've done serious harm to his leg, he only said "It's like... really important to be careful, dude. You need to, like, take your time and know what you're doing before you, like, jump into something. I learned that the hard way, dude, and after my accident I, like... changed. It's awesome. I totally know the value of safety and I TOTALLY love to compete, so I just went for it, you know?! But I didn't take any bogus risks and was, like, safe about it, you know dude?"

Not too long after his little interview, someone pointed out that he got his cutie mark! A winged crash dummy logo, symbolizing his love to fly and his new appreciation for safety.

Flaws -

Unless it has to do with stunt routines, flight, or safety, he's not very bright. Not book-smart at all, he has trouble with writing, speaking properly, mathematics, and most sciences... surprisingly he does well with physics.

He is VERY excitable, and has no qualms with letting everypony know it. He'll often be the one to exclaim 'dude, that was AWESOME!' to their face, wither they want to talk to him or not.

He's competitive to a fault. He'll never turn down a challenge, ever.

Personality

To others, Jammy can seem a bit slow in the head, and the way he speaks doesn't help this at all. However he often tells people that one doesn't have to be book-smart to be smart in their own way. Even though he can be flighty and easily excitable, he does seem to have a good head on his shoulders in terms of common sense and safety. He's sociable and enjoys interacting with little and big ponies alike! When it comes to his stunt shows and local events, he's very enthusiastic and competitive, though a good sport about it all. He'll never resort to trash talk or cheating.

Suicide 4 Hire

The beginning of, what Jammy hopes will become, his famous stunt team. Of course, once it amasses a few additional members, he'll likely opt to change the name.

At the current moment Jammy is the manager, captain, and sole member of the team, working out of his home in Cloudsdale and doing private shows for anypony willing to pay to see him perform. This mostly consists of birthday parties or holidays, as well as the rare demonstration for young fliers. He also does safety talks at local flight schools for some side-money and publicity.

For additional publicity, and because he simply loves it, he'll often participate in locally sanctioned stunt competitions and races.
