FrankT
I mean, FiM started as good family entertainment. Suddenly everyone's treating it like some adult comedy or something! By this I mean they paste mature subjects over it... sexual content! Violence! And to crown everything, bad language.. not to mention the theft involved.I'll turn in my Brony card now... Astalakio
Erm. I haven't seen anything like that. If you mean in fanfics, then just don't read those kinds of fanfics >.> I haven't seen any 'mature subjects' being posted. I'm sure they're out there, but it's not like they're hard to avoid, and it's not the majority of bronies doing it. Just some.
Rosewind
There's a topic in the same vein as this in the Mature forum already under Chit Chat. If you're over 18, I suggest checking it out!
Incantatious
I don't think there's any confusion between what FiM is and isn't; I think everyone's pretty much agreed that FiM is a fun, whimsical family friendly show. It's also very inspiring to many people - and people use that inspiration in their own unique ways. For some, the work they create using that inspiration is similarly family friendly art work, for some it's not. Also being a brony means different things to different people. Though I think the general thought is that if you're a male (or even female) fan of FiM, you can if want to - deem yourself a "brony". Not all bronies are fans of the same artwork though, so I think it's silly if you want to stop calling yourself a brony because you've seen other bronies producing work you're not fond of... In fact, if all bronies renounced their "bronyism" because they didn't like some of the work fellow bronies create, then the brony community WOULD just consist of people who like those things. Kirby Krackle
It's not just tacking on mature stuff! At the same time, we get D'aww threads and My Little Chubbies. Fan-made creations even more innocent and sweet than the show that spawns it, if that's possible. Consider for a moment just tacking a "Pony" template on every webpage you have bookmarked. Then do this for everyone! It's all still MLPFIM goodness, but contains the diversity that only it's vastly growing community can provide. Is some of it gross or raunchy or violent? Sure. But hey, so is everything else. Love and tolerance. And quit trying to hand in your brony card! We're not that kind of community. You're in for life. The fact that you're asking these questions means even more that you belong here.*brohoof*
Starfox64x
I dont think it's a problem, i find some of the more mature things being added to be both entertaining and funny at times... There ARE those things that are just Sex and Gore for the sake of sex and gore, and for those, i dont like it... But let me give you two examples...1:Sex+ponies= funny. There's a tumblr out there of Princess Celestia being portrayed as Princess Molestia instead. And with her she's always talking about or mentioning things of a sexual nature, but it's in a humorous way, not just "HERES SOME PLOT! LOLOLOL" It's really entertaining and fun for me, and there are plenty more examples of how ponies can still be fun and funny even when sexual themes are present.2: Violence can make for good stories. I havent seen any actual fanfics that has violence like fighting and war, because they do seem like the kind of stories that are just like "Here, this is somebody dying, you should feel sad now.". I'm actually trying to write a story now that depicts a war scenario with the ponies that actually has much more depth. Yes the ponies are risking their lives, yes ponies almost die, but it's not just for the sake of killing off fan favorite characters, it's to tell a story of growth, and how the ponies change after being presented with certain obstacles. It can be done, i know it can, and i really want to present that point to people.
Legit101
But that's the best part!Getting something innocent and cute, then twisting it and perverting it.
Ginger Mint
hi hiI wish I understood it, but I don't. Life and art is a dialogue, and I suppose that as long as life has awful things in it, people will be making art about it. If the Princess Molestia tumblr and the Cupcakes story vanished tomorrow without a trace, I wouldn't mind one bit. It'd be nice not to have to sift through that sort of thing when I'm looking for things I like, but the fact that there are lots of people out there who would be unhappy is proof -I suppose- that sexual assault and torture are still relevant in our lives. FredericHorseshoepin
But that's the best part!Getting something innocent and cute, then twisting it and perverting it.Why does everything need to be twisted and perverted? Why not just watch something already twisted and perverted like American Horror Story or I Saw the Devil. There's also the hentai community if you love that stuff so muchbut the fact that there are lots of people out there who would be unhappy is proof -I suppose- that sexual assault and torture are still relevant in our lives.I actually think that some of the sexual assault and torture stuff trivializes sexual assault and torture in real life. After all, one just doesn't go through with it and ends up ok and our culture's outlook on sex has changed quite a bit from the internet culture.Now... before you outright label me a prude. Let me just say that, whatever you are into, or however much you would like to have sex is up to you. I personally don't care what you do with your life. At the same time, there's nothing really to glorify when it comes to sexual assault and torture. Honestly what's the point? Rebellion? Ok, fine. I suppose everyone goes through that phase when you're a teenager right? But is that really worth fixating your life on? There's so much more to life than the deviant side of it.After all. When you're dead and all you have to show for your life is deviant sex... then I'd say that's a pretty wasted life right there. Eh, just a brony's 2 cents. Just saying that sex should be that big of a deal for people. It's just the human reproductive system... done. Nothing really more to explore. I'd rather watch something like Citizen Kane over porn any day. Just more worth the time imho and I get more out of it.Not sure what people see in porn that makes it so worthwhile

On the Internet, you'll ALWAYS have someone to pervert something.
