In the heart of Equestria, there was Ponyville. In Ponyville, there are roads. Upon one of these roads can be found a dragon, small and purple and green, quite young as far as dragons go.

In the claw of this dragon, there is a handle, black and sturdy and metallic. Attached to that handle was a wagon, red and metal, adorned with eight rotating wheels upon which the body of the wagon sat. Upon that wagon, there was a crate, and it was made of wood. Within that crate? Books. Tomes. Binders. Journals. Scrolls. Albums. Atlas upon atlas. Case studies. Research papers. Encyclopedias. Novels. Reprints, pre-prints, primers, premeirs, papers, roll, scroll, hardcover, softcover, half-cover, no-cover, re-cover, re-release, pre-release, post-release, omnibus, opus, campus studies, diaries, and logs!

And all of it, while individually made up of sheets of paper and mililitres of ink, summed up into a rather cumbersome and impressive shipment, held in a rather ponderous wooden crate simply labeled "Library". If Spike wasn't responsible for keeping it organized, he'd swear Twilight -ate- knowledge or something. It was, as it turned out, another enormous shipment, gathered from the unquestionably exhaustive stock of Canterlot, which in turn had gathered components of the shipment from all over Equestria and beyond. If he wasn't responsible for carrying such 'loaned' materials hither and yon once or twice a month, it might have been really quite spectacular, simply because it was such a vast array of material from so far and so wide. As it stood, however, the chore had never really gained any sort of prestige or mystique, given that he had been practically raised amidst all manner of scripture and writing.

It was not a fun chore, and if not for the milkshake he'd been promised for his efforts, he might be somewhat grouchy. But, as things were, he had his treat, and that was reward enough for his labours. Dragons, after all, were supposed to be strong, and although hauling Twilight Sparkle's latest order of books to the ponyville library lacked glamour, it nevertheless helped him build strength. The difference in scale between the crate and the dragon was perhaps somewhat comical, as the crate was larger than spike in every dimension, and unfortunately it left Spike with rather limited visibilty as to who or what was behind him. But that didn't really much matter.

So, with enough books to drown a bear in, Spike marched, from train station to library, with his huge wooden crate with its clearly-stated cargo.

Light was now on his sixth book. The colt never studied more in his life! Usually he was accustomed to reading a chapter or so for Miss Cheerilee at the school, and at home he may finish a book within a week depending on how big or complex it was. But in his quest to find how to advance his simple light magic to illusions, he became like a machine. He would read while eating, read before bed, and read while going from one place to another. He tried even reading two books at the same time, but that didn't work out well.

Light was distracted reading that he didn't exactly know where he was going. He could have been walking all the way to Canterlot for all he knew, but he knew that he was still in Ponyville. At least he hoped so. "Let's see... turning ponies into plants... no ... growing moustaches... what's a moustache? This Advanced Spells book is... well advanced. I can barely understand this much less cast them."

He was so busy reading and talking to himself that he failed to see the baby dragon and the cart that he was carrying...
