Paw Print remembered that she would be meeting her old friends today. She was already in Stalliongrad. The mare had a feeling that her friends may arrive on the train. The green earth pony calmly made her way to Stalliongrad train station. Once she was there, Paw Print waited alone.

The green mare watched at the train came into view. It came to a gentle stop right before her eyes. The earth pony smiled at the thought of seeing her friends again. Yet a little thought at the back of her mind kept telling her that something would always be missing. Her mutt was the missing friend. Paw Print first met all of her friends when she had her elderly mutt by her side. But this time, she didn't haver her dog. Tricks was at rest. Paw Print put on a brave smile and remembered what her father had told her when she was grieving. "One mutt dies at the same time as another mutt is born. Another stray companion will be needing you to love him someday."

Twenty years.

Twenty years of travelling, and living the life of a rockstar.

Twenty years of loneliness, and regret.

It had been twenty years since Bass had blown the judges away at his audition for the Royal Entertainer's Society, which skyrocketed his career. After the audition, Bass spent the next five years performing all across Canterlot. It was at one of these shows that Bass would meet the mare who would become his wife. He was performing in a theater just on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan capitol of Equestria, and after the show, he was approached by a stunning mare by the name of Charity Grace. With the added boost of confidence that Bass had gained from his time performing, Bass inquired a date with the mare. It had been a while since he had been in any serious relationship, having flings with numerous well known mares around Canterlot, and Bass was looking to settle down. Upon getting to know her better, the two began dating exclusively, and started a new band, Lunar Grace. The band took Equestria by storm, and quickly became one of the most popular bands in Equestria. After two years of constant interaction, Bass and Charity were married, holding an extravagant wedding in Manehattan. As the band continued to tour, the two musical ponies became closer and closer, until the day that history repeated itself in the most heartwrenching of ways. Three years after the formation of the band, Lunar Grace was playing a sold out show in Stalliongrad, when one of the pyrotechnics backfired, costing Bass the love of his life. Grief-stricken, and alone, Bass left the band, and returned to his hometown of Fillydelphia, where he spent the next five years in mourning. After a while, Bass's sister, who had a relatively successful career of her own, dragged him out of his mourning, and got his hooves back on the ground. Bass, and Treble took on the world, as brother and sister, selling out numerous shows on their own, and becoming one of the greatest duos in the history of music. Now, those five years had treated the siblings well, and they were on the last leg of their tour, arriving in Stalliongrad, where they would be playing their final show together.

The years had treated Bass well, and he still looked relatively the same as he did twenty years ago, with the exception of his mane, which had grown down the back of his neck, the teal stripe in his mane and tail fading to a darker teal. Bass was the first to step off the train, breathing in the cold air of the city where winter never ended. He looked around, spotting at least one familiar pony waiting outside. He didn't know the mare too well, so he assumed that she was waiting on somepony else.

Syd helped Neon up off the bed. He put his suit jacket back on and helped her off the train. He stepped into the station and looked around for a moment. He saw a few ponies in the station, but noticed one that looked oddly familiar. He walked over and noticed that it was Deep Bass! He trotted over to him with some excitement. "Long time no see Bass." he said waiting for the stallion to turn around.

Bass had just stretched out his wings from the train ride, when he thought he heard somepony say his name. He whirled around, folding his wings back, and found himself looking right at Syd. "Well well. If it isn't Mr. Sydphony, himself."

Bass smiled, not looking much different from the young stallion Syd had met so long ago.

"Nice to see you after all these years! How has the music making business been for you Bass. I remember when I met you as just a young stallion, you were just doing some cafe shows in this city if I remember correctly." Neon trotted over next to Syd and he felt it prudent to introduce her. "Bass, this is my special somepony Neon Bright." He nuzzled her gently and returned his attention to Bass. "So what brings you to Stalliongrad once again?"

Bass chuckled, and rubbed the back of his head. "Well, it had its up's, it's downs, and its 'I-don't-wanna-talk-about-it's.'" He looked at the mare at Syd's side. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Bright. It's good to see somepony taking care of old Syd, here." Bass chuckled, again, as a pegasus filly trotted out of the train, her saddlebags over her back. She sighed, and trotted over to Bass.

"Dad, I think I left my favorite brush back in Canterlot." The filly turned toward Syd and Neon, and eyed the couple up and down. Her coat was a light powder blue, and her short, straight mane a jet black, with a single purple stripe, her tail matching in color. Even behind her amber tinted aviators, it was obvious that her eyebrow was raised. "Friends of yours, Dad?"

Syd listened intently to what Bass had to say. "I have had them too Bass, plenty of the downs." When he introduced himself to Neon, Syd made a sly grin. "I'm not that old, I can still play with you younger stallions like I have for years." A powder blue pegasus filly walked past him and Neon, giving them a once over. "Friend of yours, Dad?" she said to Bass. "Ah, so Bass the rock and roll all night and party every day stallion finally settled down eh?" He said with a bit of a smirk.

Bass ruffled the filly's mane, and smiled at her. "Really old friends, dear. Go ahead and get yourself a sandwich in the station. I'll be right there." He fished a few bits from his saddlebag, and handed them to the filly, who smiled in response.

"Thanks, daddy. Don't be too long, okay?"

Bass chuckled, and oatted the filly. "Yes, mom. Now run along."

With only a nod, she trotted into the station.

Bass looked back tp Syd, his tone completely different. "Well, I did. About fifteen years ago. It's kind of one of the downs, mixed with one of the I-don't-wanna-talk-about-it's, really. I still don't think she's entirely come to grips with losing her mom. I know I haven't."

Syd's noticeable smile dropped the second he heard that he lost his special somepony. He frowned and spoke his mind. "Bass, I am sorry for your loss. I'm....not sure what to say. Who was she, she must have been a great mare..." He said trailing off. It reminded him of his mother's passing. It really put him in a rut that he took months to get out of, and when he did he was a raging alcoholic.

Bass noticed Syd's rapid change of attitude, and shook his head in a manner that would say "Don't worry about it." He smiled softly, pushing his amber eyeglasses up on top of his head. "It was about twelve years ago. Allegra was a year old. Wait… you haven't been following the news over the years? Surely you know about Charity Grace and I."

"Well, lets just say I went through an isolation period, and I would much rather not talk about it in public. I really was in and out of rehabilitation programs for a long time, but things have shaped up over time. I am "clean" now, so no worries." He said. He looked at Neon, and she was really tired. "Bass, which hotel are you staying at?" He asked, beginning to escort Neon out of the station.

Bass nodded, as Syd described his all too familiar situation. "I understand what you mean. Sometimes when we go up, we come down hard, and we keep reaching for something to bring us back up. And we're staying at L'Fleur du Grande. Only the best for my little girl." Bass turned, and grinned at the filly who had set her bags down, and was walking back toward them, an embarrassed look on her face. Before she came within earshot, he added in " She's the last little piece of Charity that I have, and she's growing up fast."

Syd listened to what Bass had to say. "Very true old friend. It is the nature of the career I suppose." He nuzzled Neon to keep her awake, and heard that Bass and his daughter were staying at the same hotel he was. His ears perked up and a grin washed over his face. "Well, look at that, we happen to be staying at the same hotel! Rainy and Neon are also going to be staying there." He saw his daughter coming back towards him and Bass, and kept a smile on,trying to look as friendly as his gruff appearance would allow.

Bass shook Rainy Splash's hand, and smiled. "It's a plea-"

"Hi. I'm Allegra Sophia Aria. I'm his keeper of sorts." The powder blue filly had stepped between her father, and the others. "It's my job to keep my dear old dad out of trouble. My apologies for not introducing myself sooner, but-" The filly broke out into laughter. "Sorry. I can't hold up the classy girl act very long. Nice to meet you all. I know Dad's not very good at introducing others, so Hi!

[And Rainy drops the ball!]

Allegra looked frigidly at Rainy. It was obvious that he had struck a nerve with the filly. It became even more apparent through the anger in her voice. "My mom was a beautiful, talented mare, and one of the greatest singers in the world besides my dad. What'cha got, pal? And on top pf that, she was one of the best mommies in the world... and I miss her... so much." The anger was replaced with sadness, as tears welled up in her eyes, a few running down from behind her amber aviators.

Bass quickly moved to hug his daughter, and lifted her onto his back. "Come on, angel. He didn't know."

Rainy Splash felt horrible. He stepped back a few times."Oh god.Uh oh my god.I-I'm s-so s-sorry.And my wife isn't as good as yours from what I'm heard.I'm sorry.Uh could I like make it up to you?"Rainy had tears in his eyes.He didn't what to say so he just trotted back towards the train sadly.

Neon Bright didn't like talking about families since she was an orphan so she followed Rainy."Rainy come back.It wasn't your fault you didn't know.Plus you where right your wife is a little..yeah.But if they get mad at you again just tell them that your wife is the famous Rainbow Dash!Even though she is kinda egotistical."Rainy looked back at Neon and raised an eyebrow with a sly smile."Hey shut up!"

Syd saw the filly break down from Rainy's misunderstanding. He made his way over to the filly and tried to comfort her. "Allegra, Rainy did not know. I....I know how it feels not to have a mum. My mum actually left for the second life a year ago. Your mum would be proud of you." He said with a weak smile on his face.
