[Ponyville] Despair and Panic! The Missing Cake Twin (Finished)

Pumpkin felt relief flood over her. Her special Princess guardian finally knew her plight. She felt the magical tingle of levitation flip her over onto the Princess' back, her new favorite roost. The crown, however, was out of reach. She crossed her little arms, eying the glittery gold headpiece. The time it spent in her mouth had been so short! She lifted her forehoof and sighed. It would have to do. She crammed it deep into her mouth and suckled. She tilted her head cutely, drool running down her arm, wondering what was going to happen next. More searching? There were a lot of ponies that could fly hanging around...and her twin brother was a pegasus after all, but they didn't know that. She blinked several times, connecting the dots.

A light bulb went off in her little mind. Pumpkin tugged the back of Cadance's mane.

Eeeeh! Wah! Ee! She said, pointing up to the blue sky with her free hoof. Several squat clouds lazily drifted above Ponyville. Could Pound's salvation be close?

((Hope you don't mind me 'barging' in ^_^))

Ugh....what a gloriously bad day, Crescent thought to himself, not for the first time since sunrise. He had had such fun, digging through those old abandoned diamond dog caves in order to find the item his client had requested, and really, how was he to know that the caves weren't really abandoned, and that those silly dogs had taken to worshipping the blasted piece of pottery like a tribal artifact? To be honest, his client should have been happy just getting the shards of said urn, it's not like he was going to use it as a container for anything anyway. The one bright point was that he at least had had the decency of paying some of the promised reward.

Just another reason why he prefered doing private work, at least then he'd only have his inner historian get angry with him if he broke a priceless cultural artifact. Not that it had happened all that often anyway, probably no more than a handful of times.

Regardless, the job had managed to get him enough bits to get to Ponyville, a pleasant little village if nothing else, and home to the famous Elements of Harmony to boot! Not that it mattered much to him, but it was history in the making none the less.

Having arrived in Ponyville, his mind had started drifting away from the earlier memory of an angry collector trying to bludgeon him to death with a book, instead opting to look for a few books himself, knowing from experience that the most interesting tomes could be found in these smaller rural village.

His silent contemplation was quickly shattered by the wailing of a foal, at least he hoped it was a foal and not one of those silly foal imitating frogs, oh how he loathed those things.

Quickly scanning his surroundings he promptly spotted the source of the crying in a nearby park, one Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.

Wait, that's not quite right.

Princess Cadenza? In Ponyville, and carrying around a newborn unicorn foal no less? Suddenly seeming more interesting than finding a few books, Crescent started trotting in their direction, only to have his ears perk up as the Princess spoke.

"Have either of you seen a young foal going around on its own? It could be in a lot of trouble!"

A missing foal? Well well, guess fate had chosen to plant him somewhere where his special talent might do some good, and getting on the good side of royalty was a decent bonus. With a quick trot he found himself standing by the alicorn.

"Excuse me Princess Cadenza, I couldn't help but overhear that you were looking for somepony?" He said, a sly twinkle in his ice blue eyes as he continued with a court bow. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Crescent Chronicle, seeker of artifacts, relics and curios of all sorts, as well as one of the finest unicorns in the use of divining and seeking spells to ever come out of your esteemed aunt's Academy." Finishing his sentence by slightly shifting his body to show her the golden compass cutie mark on his brown flank.

Cadance waited for a few moments to see if she received a response from the two ponies she'd bumped into before, but she had somehow lost track of them fairly quickly. It wasn't too hard, she guessed, considering she'd been preoccupied with Pumpkin. As a matter of fact, the baby in question seemed to have had another episode of bitty genius and was tugging on the mare's long mane again. Well, genius or a tummy gurgle. She wasn't sure which until the unicorn pointed into the clear sky above and her intent became obvious.

"That's a little dangerous," Cadance murmured, nearly balking at the suggestion. "We couldn't fly too high or we might not see your friend, but it's still far away from the ground," she said to Pumpkin. At that moment a new stallion introduced himself, bowing and mentioning that he, Crescent Chronicle, was very talented at scrying and detection spells. Hope glittered in the alicorn's eyes, as her own magic was only respectably strong in very certain areas.

"A pleasure to meet you Crescent Chronicle," she answered with a warm smile, inclining her head only a little so as not to dislodge Pumpkin. "Yes, I'm looking for my little friend's companion, who is apparently lost. I unfortunately don't know what he or she looks like or really anything of use, just that they're missing. Any help your spells can provide would be extremely appreciated."

Cadance flared her wings to their fullest extent and bumped Pumpkin from her back, tightly wrapping the foal in her forelegs before leaping into the air with a forceful breeze. She rose only slightly, hovering just above rooftop level as her amethyst gaze swept each alleyway and street she could spy from her higher vantage point. She didn't dare go any higher yet, due to the risk it could pose to her passenger as well as her own self-doubt when it came to flying. She didn't often take to the skies, and was always worried that she would fall out of practice.

"Do you see your friend anywhere?" she asked Pumpkin, tossing her head slightly to keep her multi-colored mane from her face as it rustled in a minor crosswind.

Well, she was certainly off again quite fast.

Crescent had barely had time to go over the possible spells he might be able to use before the alicorn took flight, leaving the unicorn stallion on the ground in the park. Not that it bothered him all that much, it was quite clear that the princess was in a hurry to find the unicorn foal's lost friend. Thankfully, his own brand of magic was quite far reaching.

Watching them go, he did his best to not lose track of the alicorn and the foal as they took off over the rooftops.

In truth, without a description or at least something belonging to the lost pony, his options were quite limited, using divination spells without an attachment was pretty much impossible to do. Luckily, he'd run into situations like these before, and he knew of one spell which might at least be of a bit of help to the princess.

Thankfully he'd had a good enough look at the unicorn foal to picture her in his mind, allowing him to anchor and perform the spell he was currently constructing. It was one of his own creations, borrowing only slightly from established sources of knowledge, he was actually quite proud of it.

With a deep look of concentration on his face, his horn giving off an aura of pale blue energy at the same time, he finished his Seeker spell, picturing the unicorn foal in his mind as he willed the magical construct into existence, hoping it wouldn't startle the princess too much.

Not too far from the princess and the foal, a blue orb of harmless energy flared into existence, its own purpose linked to the mind and thoughts of the unicorn foal. The spell in itself was quite simple, it basically created a divining orb capable of seeking out whatever or whoever the subject was looking for within a decent area.

Thinking about it one more time, he remembered that he'd never actually tried using it on a foal before.

Oh well, I guess it'll be fine, I just hope the little one will be able to keep her thoughts on her friend.

With a satisfied grin, Crescent started heading in the direction of the flying pair, quite easily maintaining the magic required for the spell from a distance. He really liked this spell, and even though it suffered from a few restrictions, namely that it could only be used on unicorns (Their horns acting as both reciever and transmitter for the mental energies required), that it could only scan an area around the size of Ponyville, and that it wouldn't find anything behind anything thicker than wooden walls, Crescent was quite certain that it would be able to do the job.

Pumpkin peeked over Cadance's shoulder and blinked at the new unicorn, Crescent. She narrowed one of her eyes at him, her face truthfully showing doubt. She took a deep harrowing breath, then unintentionally sneezed at him (as foals tend to do), sending droplets of unicorn snot in his direction.

She squeed with delight as Cadance wrapped her in her long, pink forelogs and took to the air. The breezy wind swept her orange ducktail back, her blue bow flapping around in every direction possible. She stuck her little hooves in the air and cheered!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Pumpkin looked up, and the far-away, fluffy clouds seemed that much closer...and the ground, that much farther. She quickly forget her enjoyment to realize just how high she was. She clung tightly to Cadance's legs, gritting her little teeth. She noticed some strange blue orb-thing was manifesting on the ground. She forgot her temporary fear of heights to see it was that strange unicorn stallion at it again. Was he mad about the sneeze? Whatever it was, it was coming after them. Pumpkin quickly dismissed the magical orb and thought about something much more important: that apple pie from earlier! Then ladybugs. Then flowers. Her forgotten blanket stuck to a bush outside her home, Sugarcube Corner. Back to apple pie. Then a blue jay. Pound. Dirt. Her savior, Cadance. The magical tracking orb was going to have a lot of fun if it was using her mind as a guide. Oh yes it was!

Cadance glided slowly over Ponyville, her eyes sweeping the ground below for any sign of a tiny pony where it shouldn't be. Pumpkin had gone from cheering to clinging onto her leg for dear life, so she wasn't particularly worried about the foal letting go any time soon. The princess also spied Crescent following them on the ground below, working some kind of magic before an interesting orb floated in the air near her passenger. She didn't know its purpose, but it seemed to flicker and shift every time the little unicorn's attention lapsed to something new.

While the two unicorns utilized the orb in their own ways, Cadance focused much more on the conditions of the air around her with mild fright in her expression. As Canterlot was set into the side of its host mountain, the fierce winds that assailed the sky at that height were normally dispersed somewhat around the city, making for an easier time flying. Down in Ponyville, however, there was no such respite and the alicorn was completely exposed to anything the weather might throw her way. It wasn't something she had much time to practice, considering most of her duties were earthbound. Regardless, her concern for her unnamed target outweighed her personal fears and she flapped her wings again, gaining a little altitude as she continued her search.

Should have seen this one coming, Crescent thought to himself, doing his best to keep up with the flying alicorn while at the same time keeping an eye on the seeking orb. He'd never seen it behave this erratic before, darting every which way whenever the foal shifted her attention to something else, the orb rarely even reaching its target before zooming away in another direction.

Crescent had expected the spell to act differently, but he had clearly misjudged the attention span of the ever curious little unicorn. He just barely managed to sidestep a young mare carrying groceries as his eyes were glued to the blue orb, currently doing its second passover of a nearby pastry vendor, much to the surprise of the customers and irritation of the merchant.

Perhaps he should have altered the spell's sensitivity to errant thoughts, making sure that it would only seek out whatever the target was focusing on the most. With a shrug he dispelled the pointless thoughts from his head, instead returning to following the flying pair through the streets of Ponyville. He was certain that the foal's thoughts would return to her missing friend eventually.

Pumpkin relaxed a little as the pair whisked through the air. She kept her grip tight on the gilded pink hooves however, her azure eyes watering small tears from the high winds, which ran along the sides of her face and quickly dried. She looked down at the rooftops, biting her lower lip. So many different shapes and colors! Square ones, pink ones, thatched ones -- even the circular roof of Town Hall. Trees that looked huge to her from the ground were nothing more than fluffy green tufts.

Pumpkin suddenly felt something soft and feathery thwack her square in the mouth. She blinked, caught completely off guard. A small, red bird had tried to fly across their path, and accidentally lodged itself into her mouth! She crossed her eyes to look at the avian between her lips. It flapped its wings frantically, none too pleased to have its head stuck in the mouth of a foal. She briefly considered spitting it out, but rather enjoyed the feathery sensation. Drool ran down its neck as she suckled on its poor head. It protested with several disgruntled tweets, pushing its wings against her chubby face to try to dislodge itself.

Ommm nom nom nom nom!

Cadance fluttered in surprise when Pumpkin nearly ate a small red bird, which was now lodged in her suckling lips where it tweeted wildly. Obviously the air was no place for the nervous princess or her charge, so she flared her wings and allowed gravity to slowly drag them to the ground once more. After landing near Crescent, the pink mare gently used her hooves to prop the baby's mouth open and set the avian prisoner free. In return, she plopped the rounded flange of her crown between Pumpkin's gums.

After tossing her head to somewhat tame her mane from where it had whipped about during flight, Cadance turned toward her newest companion.

"What is that orb?" she asked curiously. "It only seemed to flit around as much as my little friend's eyes. I don't suppose it let you read her mind to figure out who she's looking for, did it? Because that would be a big help..."

After passing over Town Hall the alicorn was tempted to run inside and raise an alarm for the missing foal, but she couldn't even describe it yet so she tucked the idea to the back of her anxious mind, worry painted on her features.

Crescent came to a halt as the princess and foal descended to the ground once again, silently chuckling to himself at the sight of the poor red bird firmly stuck in the little foal's mouth. With a last glance towards the blue orb, he waited patiently while the princess rescued the imprisoned bird and turned his attention back to her as she spoke to him.

"The orb is a Seeker spell, and probably the best I can do without more information," he said before continuing with a contemplative look. "It seeks out whatever the subject is looking for, though the mental intrusion is extremely minor, and won't allow me to actually read the pony's thoughts." He finished with a wave of his hoof before sighing slightly and running said hoof through his unkempt blue mane.

"I'm afraid the spell is working as well as one would expect, considering it's being guided by the thoughts of a foal. Unless she concentrates on her lost companion, it won't do us much good." Crescent couldn't keep a tone of disappointment from his last words, as he picked up the movement of the wild blue orb out the corner of his eyes. He couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed about the ineffectiveness of his spell, and silently promised himself to improve on it when he got the time.

Pumpkin's ducktail whisked into the air as Cadance landed. The poor bird in her mouth tweeted and shrieked in disgust as she happily sucked on its head. She frowned as the Princess removed the birdy from her mouth...then squealed with delight as she finally got the crown back between her lips! That lovely, smooth, shiny golden crown! Drool dribbled down her little chin as she happily sucked on the golden headpiece. She looked back and forth between Cadance and Crescent, then to the orb. She blinked as innocently as a foal would, her attention firmly on the crown in her mouth.

She wondered inwardly about Pound...just for a moment. That was all that was needed. The orb seemed to perk up, and shot off toward Ponyville...

Pumpkin tweaked her head to the side cutely, staring at her Guardian and new Unicorn friend questioningly.

Cadance listened with interest to Crescent's explanation of his Seeker spell, which apparently sought out the thoughts of its charmed target. She had to laugh at the prospect, considering the size of Pumpkin's attention span was about the size of a daffodil, but appreciated the effort all the same. It had been a very intuitive attempt for so little with which to work.

"That was very clever thinking," the princess praised, smiling at the unicorn stallion. "I never mastered such adaptable magic myself, but perhaps you can teach me someday if it isn't too difficult. It sounds very useful."

Pumpkin was still in her hooves, sucking on her crown and being rather docile for the moment, at which the alicorn was relieved. She would gladly polish her crown later if it kept the foal entertained now. The blue orb had been hovering lazily about the trio, but suddenly rose and shot off unerringly back into Ponyville. Cadance looked around quickly, not seeing anything that could have distracted the baby. Pumpkin had likely thought of one of two things then: home, or her friend. Either one was wonderful!

"Come on!" Cadance called to Crescent, already starting to gallop after the Seeker spell after transferring Pumpkin to her back once more.

Crescent barely managed to hide his grin as he was praised by the alicorn princess, he never really did put any value into the praise he used to recieve from his teachers or parents. This was different however, it wasn't the same sickly sweet talk he had been given to urge him in his studies. It was actually very refreshing.

"Thank you kindly princess, I wouldn't mind showing you at some-.." He was abruptly cut off as the blue orb suddenly perked up, then zoomed off straight past him and heading back into Ponyville, quickly followed by Cadence who was urging him to follow. Without another word the unicorn spun around, galloping quickly after the princess, not for the first time glad that he kept himself in better shape than most unicorns. He just hoped that the orb would finally lead them in the right direction.

Pumpkin held on to Cadance's mane as the trio ran after the orb. The wind, while not as intense as in the air, whisked past her face, making her eyes water as she steadied herself against the gallop of her chance Foalsitter. The various buildings of Ponyville came into view, with their unique, eclectic shapes that gave character to the small pony village. They passed the park with the foal-crying frog, the apple pie baker (who had since closed shop), as well as the house with the potted plant that had the silhouette of her twin. Pumpkin waved her little hoof at the plant, just to be friendly.

The blue orb misted out swirling, foggy magic as it floated along. Pumpkin wasn't quite sure what it was, but it seemed interesting enough to her two new friends. At last, it came to a stop outside Sugarcube Corner. She had come full circle! She noticed her blanky still stuck to the bush where Cadance had found her. She squirmed around on the Princess' back, pointing at her lost treasure.

Mrrrf! Weh!

Carrot Cake made his way up the stairs of the Sugar Cube Corner to the second-story apartment with a trey of two bottles on his back. Carefully trotting along so as not to spill the contents of the bottles. It was getting about time of morning where the twins would soon wake up, and they always woke up hungry. However, unsure if they were awake quite yet, Carrot Cake trotted along quietly, having no desire to awaken the two foals early and send them into colicky crying fit. Slowly pushing open the door to the twins' room, he carefully trotted over to their crib, to see if they had began to stir awake only to find that they neither of them were in the crib at all. Carrot's eyes widened with horror at this sudden realization as he placed his front hooves onto the edge of the crib so that he was standing on his hind hooves, letting the trey with the bottles on them fall off his back and break on the floor below him.

"Pound Cake! Pumpkin Cake! Oh no... Where are they!?" Carrot Cake cried out franticallly, tossing aside the pillow and mattress in the crib, then flipping the entire crib over to check beneath it. "Gone… both of them…" he said to himself as his mind began to race. Where could they be? Had Cup Cake taken them out? No she'd gone out to run some errands and told him to watch the twins. He briefly entertained the idea that Pinkie might've taken them somewhere, but then he realized that she was down in the kitchen working on her latest cooking experiment. The last he seen them was when he checked in on them earlier that morning, and they were both sleeping in their crib safe and sound. For a second time, the realization that his two foals were missing washed over Carrot Cake as he began to dart around the room, throwing about toys, diapers, and stuffed animals in a desperate search for the missing Cake twins.

The princess scrabbled to a stop as the seeker spell slowed then hovered, drifting aimlessly around a particular storefront. A quick glance upward to the sign informed her that this was Sugarcube Corner, a confectionary shop. Recognition sparked in her eyes, and she remembered that Pinkie Pie, one of Twilight's close friends, lived in the apartment above. This was also where she'd found her young ward, wasn't it?

As if in response to her unspoken question, Pumpkin began to squirm and point downward with a tiny hoof at a churned flowerbed. Among the disturbed flowers lay a small blanket, apparently the source of the foal's desires and urgings. Bending down, Cadance retrieved the warm square and shook the earthy dirt away from it before offering it to the baby. Although it was only clenched between her teeth, the mare could taste a myriad of flavors in the fabric: vegetables, flowers, a piney scent, and most of all the taste of Pumpkin's own hoof. The corners of the alicorn's mouth tugged groundward as she experienced the smorgasbord, as she remembered babies had almost no limits to what they'd eat or gnaw on. Hopefully now the seeker spell would point them in the right direction, and the foalsitter waited for their new clue as to what to do.

Coming to a stop next to the princess, Crescent could barely contain his excitement as the Seeker spell started hovering by a peculiar gingerbread house, most likely a bakery of some sorts. It honestly made his stomach a bit upset looking at it, he never really liked sweets and the like.

His hopes were quickly shattered however, as Cadance bent down to retrieve not a lost foal, but a slightly dirty blanket, causing him to sit down on his haunches with a quiet sigh.

"I'm guessing that belongs to our little unicorn?" Crescent said as he looked at the piece of cloth, glancing at the foal for any sign of recognition.

The unicorn stallion returned to watching the situation in front of him, hoping that with her blanket returned, the young foal might focus her attention on her lost friend instead.

Pumpkin happily returned the blanket to her mouth, sucking on it with great relish. Drool ran down the sides of the fabric. She noticed Crescent looking crestfallen, and in consolation, booped his nose with her little hoof and smiled at him. The baby unicorn then looked to her gingerbread home, up to the windowsill that she had previously jumped out of. She quirked her head to the side as the nursery drapes flapped in the afternoon breeze. She never realized how high it had been!

The light of the blue orb caught Pumpkin's attention. She looked up at magical sphere, as it lazily drifted around the bakery, unmoving. It didn't go anywhere, and seemed quite satisfied to hang outside Sugarcube Corner. She adjusted her wheat-colored ears as she heard frantic shouting from inside the bakery. Fear shot through Pumpkin like an icy lance of despair, her smile quickly melting. The blanky dropped out of her mouth. She looked to Cadance and Crescent with wide eyes, pointing to the gingerbread home with her little hoof, uttering her first real word of the day:

Papa!

Carrot Cake bumped his head on a set of shelves the he'd just cleared out during his search as he heard what he was sure was young foal crying out just outside the window. Wasting no time, the stallion dashed over to the open window and he immediately saw Pumpkin Cake on the back of another standing just in front of the Sugar Cube Corner. "Pumpkin!" he cried out, so overjoyed that he had found at least one of the twins that he didn't even notice that the pony his daughter was sitting upon was none other than Princess Cadence herself, nor did he notice that he was losing his balance as he leaned out the window to see her.

"Oh thank Celestia you're… Wha!" Carrot cried out as he suddenly found himself falling from the second-story window to the ground, landing face-first in the dirt right at Cadence's hooves. "…Ouch." he muttered, indicating that he was more or less okay.

Cadance watched with a smile as foal and blanky were reunited, of course with much slobbering and suckling. A happy reunion indeed. Just as her thoughts were returning to what to do with the complacent seeker spell, there were sounds of exclamation and panic from the window above. The princess's passenger reacted, gesturing wildly and actually saying a word: Papa.

With a sudden realization, the alicorn lowered her head toward the ground with a groan. Why hadn't she checked here first, where she had found the baby? On the other hoof though, she hadn't really expected the tiny unicorn to get out of the house with all the doors seemingly shut, but still it was a blatant oversight. Her suspicions and Pumpkin's words were only confirmed when a stallion poked his head out of the window above, shouting for his child.

The royal mare was trying to recall the father's name, which she'd heard from Pinkie once, when the pony in question tumbled out into the air and thumped directly at her hooves.

"Mr. Cake!" she cried, remembering who he was in her concern as she knelt and offered a hoof. "Are you alright? I'm so glad we found you for little Pumpkin here, but I'm afraid another foal friend of hers might be missing as well..."

She felt terrible with possibly adding to the anxiety that was already palpable around him, especially after a fall, but Cadance still felt that time was of the essence.

Crescent couldn't help but smile and chuckle at the little unicorn as she booped his nose in order to cheer him up, in reality he was hardly in need of cheering up, but he could appreciate the gesture. He kept a kind gaze on the foal as he watched her turn her attention to somepony yelling from above, then look back at them with wide eyes and an exclamation of Papa.

Quickly turning his attention towards the second story window he spotted an earth pony stallion peering desperately down at them, and before he was able to mouth a warning the stallion dropped out the window with a yell of surprise.

The unicorn just barely had time to react as he did his best to conjure a telekinetic cushion below the falling baker, mitigating as much as the damage as possible. It wasn't as much as he'd wanted, but he had often had to rely on this particular spell when scaling cliff sides or delving into caves and slipping by accident, so he was somewhat adept at using it. Far too often now that he thought about it, but at least it had taught him to use this spell swiftly.

He still winced as Mr. Cake landed face first in the flowerbed in front of Cadance however, pretty sure that it had still hurt quite a bit. Crescent was relieved when he saw that the stallion was alright, and decided to wait and let the princess talk to him after he'd heard her say his name.

Pumpkin covered her mouth as her father spilled out of the window to the ground. Apparently gravity was not a friend of the Cake family! She winced as Carrot Cake hit the dirt, sending up a flume of dust. She stuck one of Cadance's mane curls into her mouth, the silhouette of her shadow casting over the yellow stallion as she peered down at him from her royal perch. She wanted to jump down and say hello, but rather liked riding her new friend, and decided it could wait. Drool dribbled down her chin as she hugged Cadance's neck.

The Princess finally knew her name! Pumpkin was quite happy with that. She perked her ear, listening the trio of adult ponies talking about Pound. Finally, some action! She decided that suckling on Cadance's mane was the correct course of action for the moment, and did so with gusto. Where could her twin brother be?

Carrot Cake began peeled himself off of the flower bed that he had landed in, pressing his hoof to the side of his head as he did so. "Ugh… I'm gonna feel that one tomorrow morning." he said as he looked up and saw standing before him, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza herself. His jaw drop as he quickly picked himself up off the ground. "Pr-Princess Cadence! Oh my this is an unexpected honor!" he said, picking up some knocked over flowers and presenting them to the princess. "Er, here! These are for you." Carrot said nervously, seeming to sweat a bit as Cadence took the flowers from him.

"Oh and you found Pumpkin too!" Carrot said, scooping the foal off of Cadence's back into his hooves and hugging her tightly. "Pumpkin Cake, you little rascal! How did you get out here anyway!" he said, happily nuzzling his Pumpkin as he held her close. "Did you two find her? I can't tell you how much I appreciate you going through all the trouble of bringing her back here. But how did you know where…" Suddenly Carrot's eyes widened at a sudden realization. "Hey wait a minute! You found Pumpkin Cake, but where's Pound cake!?" His panic now renewed, Carrot's eyes darted around him frantically. "Oh no, Pound Cake!"

Cadance was relieved to see that Mr. Cake was alright, and laughed when Pumpkin decided that princess curls were more delectable than a familiar blanky. Had her mane been bumped up to exotic cuisine nibblets? The idea just made her laugh even more. The baker stallion seemed to recognize the princess immediately, and had dusted himself off and shoved flowers into her hooves while taking Pumpkin.

"Thank you," she replied for the blossoms, continuing on to answer his question. "I found her just out here actually, crawling through this same flowerbed. I guess tumbling from the window is a danger of which to be aware!"

She didn't have time to ponder that thought, however, as the father began to panic once more after mentioning "Pound" Cake. So the foal's target had been her sibling?

"I haven't seen Pound, but that's who we've been looking for. I'm pretty sure that's where Pumpkin was going in the first place."

((OOC: Sorry about that, for some reason I couldn't figure out it was my turn to post xD))

Stifling a chuckle at seeing Carrot Cake's awkward nervosity in front of the princess, Crescent silently sat on his haunches while listening to the two ponies talk, smiling to himself as he saw the family reunion in front of him, promising himself to go visit his own parents more often. Celestia knows his mother had done her best to encourage more visits from him, too bad his father didn't feel much the same way.

With a shrug he dismissed the family worries from his mind, returning his attention to the scene in front of him just in time to learn the identity of the missing foal, one Pound Cake, apparently the sibling of Pumpkin Cake by the sound of it.

Secretly relieved that they'd no longer need to follow the whimsical mentality of the unicorn foal, Crescent turned his head to talk to Carrot Cake.

"Sorry, Mr. Cake is it? I should be able to point us in the direction of Pound Cake with a scrying spell, I'll just need something belonging to the foal as well as a physical description, the more you can supply me with the easier it'll be." He said, voice full of confidence that they'd finally be able to get on the right track, and not get distracted by every pie vendor or butterfly in the vicinity.
