Character Summary: Spring Shimmer was raised by her parents to always look for the best in ponies. She was always told that if she ever had anything mean to say, she was to say nothing at all. Her mother and father were farmers, raising and selling plants like daisies and other flowers for ponies to eat. As soon as she was able, Spring helped her parents out in the fields, farming plants for all of Equestria to eat. Though their farm was small, they always managed to have fun and make a good harvest. Through determination, hard work, and a little fun, they were always able to make ends meet. Taking the lessons from her parents to heart, Spring grew into a kind and quiet mare with a love for plants.

As time moved on Spring became more and more of a help at the farm. Eventually, her family was able to finish work quickly enough to have a lot of spare time on their hooves. It was then that her mother took back up pottery and clay sculpting, a hobby she had had as a filly. Spring quickly took an interest and they would spend many afternoons after work making arts and crafts, just mother and daughter together. On other days, she would go with her father to sell off some excess crops at the market. Though she was outgoing and fun with parents, the strangers scared her. She was always scared of doing something wrong and making them upset. Her father would always have to take the lead in selling the crops. It was okay with him, though, as long as they were spending time together. Together the family lived on, happy and content with life.

One day, in Spring’s fillyhood, her parents finally thought she was ready. They fenced off part of the farm just for Spring, so she could have fun and farm what she wanted to. They were already making enough bits off of all the sculptures, pottery, and extra food they were selling; the small bit of land wasn’t needed. Spring was ecstatic when she got the land, thanking her parents profusely. Within a short amount of time she already had bought some shrub and tree seeds for the garden with some spare bits she had been saving up. She also managed to pay a construction pony to build a small stone wall around her garden, just big enough so that no one could see into the garden. She wanted it to be a surprise for her parents when it was finished. Soon the first bit shoots began to show, pleasing Spring to no end. With all of the work on the farm coupled with Spring’s new bit of land, her parents started to worry for her. They thought it might be too much work for just one filly. She soon proved them wrong, letting her garden grow to be extraordinary by spring time. It had beautiful blue, stunning purple, wonderful white, and positively amazing pink flowers in bushels between rows of shrubs that gave rise to trees from their centers. Her parents embraced her, overflowing with pride in their daughter. Spring knew that day that this is what she wanted to do. She wanted to grow beautiful plants and arrangements that were pretty enough to make everypony happy. With that realization, her cutie mark appeared, a bushel of leaves.

Since then Spring has bought some land of her own, started to farm, and opened a garden ornament shop. She works on her farm whenever she can, leaving during the day only to work on pottery or clay sculptures. She retires to her garden at dusk when her work is finished and spends her time there until it is dark. Spring hires ponies to sell her pottery and sculptures from her shop for her, which gives her more time to farm, make the items, and enjoy her garden. She is a very busy pony.

Though Spring Shimmer is a bit on the small side, even for a mare, she is full of energy and is much stronger than she looks. She works on a farm, after all. When she goes to town every so often to sell things or stock up her shop, she is polite to every pony she meets. She is usually calm and reserved, saying only what is most important. She tries her best to avoid conflict of any kind, even if it makes her need to abandon her beliefs or ideals.
