[LPW] The Portal [HQ]

Davroth

Nobody remembered where it came from, or if it had been there the whole time. All they knew was that it was here now, and it looked like it was here to stay. On a small clearing in the outer reaches of the Forest of Madness, there was a portal, framed by ancient looking stone, glowing faintly red. There was something ominous about it, being covered in undecipherable runes and filling the nearby trees with crimson light in the night hours.

Nobody really cared about it, either. It didn't seem to do anything. It just was. Well, nobody is probably incorrect, there was one who sought the company of the light.

In a tree, lying fairly comfortable on one of the bigger branches, was a figure, clad in a black cloak. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a light grey unicorn stallion with a scruffy, bluish mane. His cloak obscuring his face, he just dosed away, taking seemingly little notice of the forest around. Around his tree, cold, blue flames danced and circled, illuminating the ground nearby, harshly contrasting to the red of the portal. They spun in the air happily, and every now and then, one of them would fly to the grey stallion, floating about on eye level for a moment, then continued its dance.

Davroth wasn't sleeping of course. He needed only very little sleep. But he knew it was in his best interest to stay close to the portal. I hadn't taken him long to find out what it was, and he fairly certain he could use it to his advantage, should the need arise.

For now, he'd just be content with staying near it.
