Character Summary:

A quick history:

Maximilian's Grandfather made a fortune by jumping into the market of the brand new 'railroads', his investment paid off, and after some cutthroat business practices his firm ended up on top and made him millions. His father, Maximilian Sr., expanded the fortune and created a massive political estate in Manehattan's upper echelons through graft, backroom deals and flat out unethical practices. His busy life never allowed him to spend quality time with his son, and they never developed a relationship. The Rockefillies became synonymous with corruption, and while they hold a lot of power in Manehattan, there isn't much love for this family of elites.

Maximilian earned his cutie-mark, a stack of bits, after making his first successful investment. He became convinced that his purpose was to use money to make money, and for no other purpose. He was sent off to Canterlot to study magic, but he was quickly kicked out for using magic to counterfeit; an incident quickly forgotten after a large donation to the school. Once he returned, he spent the rest of his youth learning the intricacies of the political arena and the market. Years of firsthoof experience with cut-throat politics and shady business deals matured him quickly.

After his father passed away, his mother became a shut-in and Max was left to run the family fortune, and he realized how much contempt there was for his family. Most ponies in the city hated how the Rockefillies had driven countless businesses bankrupt, destroyed all political opponents, and ran the city with no concern for the average pony. This new knowledge didn't affect him at first, but after a while the solitary life of earning bits and making deals left him fulfilled in every sense but one. Something didn't feel right, the surge of joy Maximilian felt from earning every bit was gone, and only a hollow feeling was left. He decided to re-evaluate his purpose in life, and travel Equestria not only to redeem the Rockefilly name, but discover what he should do with himself.

Now for that personality stuff:

Snooty and vain at first glance, it takes some patience to find the nice Stallion underneath the rich exterior.

A valuable skill he picked up in the political arena of Manehattan was coercion and diplomacy, his command of language and argument comes in handy all throughout his life. He speaks eloquently, and Maximilian usually talks his way out of bad situations, mainly because he stinks at fighting and doesn't know much magic.

Having basically raised himself, Max never really had a social life; no dating or making friends. Any form of casual conversation is hard for him, and he naturally tries to be business like. Max is certain that nopony likes him because of his name, even if they don't know him. His insecurity leads him to sometimes be a jerk around others, trying to get in their heads and under their skin solely to protect himself from the expected contempt.

Around strangers, his personality is cold on the outside, and only slightly warmer on the inside. If you can befriend him, expect ferocious loyalty.

Max is now a different pony. He had always felt like something was wrong, and when he met a young pony named Cherry, it set him on a whole new path. He now wants to benefit EVERYPONY, and he has no problem losing money to do it. He has no issue with hurting some ponies to benefit everypony. He may be nicer, but he's still not an idealist.

In order to ensure 24/7 access to his fortune, Max usually carries some sort of magical pouch. While it seems like an empty bag, when he opens it the bag becomes a direct link to the Rockefilly fortune. In a pnch he can turn various other storage devices into a link, ensuring that he'll never be without

Cherry Dawn- Met in Manehattan

She's an amazing pony that helped push Max onto his new path. He wishes her the best and would do anything to help her out.

Random Facts!:

As a foal, Max was never allowed to have toys, so he developed the habit of counting bits, he does it almost all the time.

The only thing his father ever gave him was his Mahogany desk. It's Max's most prized possession.

Max was recently humiliated in the press, when his lawn grew out of control and enveloped his mansion.

His father didn't spend much time with him, but when he did, he taught Max valuable life lessons. Like dealing with unforeseen circumstances by putting poison joke in his pillow. Or working under pressure by dropping him off in the middle of Manehattan with only 1 bit, and only allowing him to return home when he had 30.

I'm not so certain this character would be useful for much other than big talking and solving disputes between the borders. It's kind of a conflict, having him being a cutie mark-less colt and then adding years of business deals and politics at the end...it seems like he should be older. If he's that young and inexperienced, he should likely still be discovering what makes him special.

Considering he's an adult without a Cutie Mark, I don't know if this will be allowed. The show makes it clear that all ponies get a mark, and at a young age. If "Denarius' main strength is his ability to coerce and convince." as you put it... then he clearly has some strong skill, whether it be good or not. And that would be something leading to a mark.

It says in his personality that, 'He's not smart, but he knows how to handle tough situations.' But it also says, 'He speaks eloquently, and Maximilian usually talks his way out of bad situations, mainly because he stinks at fighting and doesn't know much magic.' This sounds like he is an excellent talker, and relies more on skill of smarts and a quick tongue than on his magic. His Likes also includes "Intelligence." I see these couple of things as a bit contradictory.

And in the third paragraph of the Character Summary, it says "business" instead of "businesses".

But I like how you've fleshed out the character. :)
