  1. Alright, decided to wind down from full out vector. What does that mean? BBBFF-style. Apis and his father, Mondo.
  2. Well then if that's your perception of him, I can happily announce "Nailed it!"

  4. I don't even care if this gets covered up by last-minute posts on the Request section, because posting this is worth it. Two full weeks of work, and now, here it is. POW!!! Coming soon to Tumblr.
  5. Wow! I must say, as another vector artist, your work is phenomenal! Very well done! Cute pallets too.

  8. Working on a multi-character vector, not going to release any more characters until it's totally done. Here, however, is Apis. This pic was a bit of an experiment on how Itailians might look from the front, face-wise. I like the chosen design, personally.
  9. From the album: Vectored OCs

Background of my heavily redesigned alicorn OC, Emperor Mondo, just to experiment with colors. I think I've finally come to a combination I can be happy with! If anypony wants this resized for their desktop, send me a PM and I can to it!

  10. bluh, work. work work work work work. If it was busy-work I'd be okay with it! But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo >:I Anyways, enough with the complaints and rage, I've just had not much time to myself these days. So, here's all I'm pumping out for now. base-colored background of Emperor Mondo. You can see from his last work that he's gone through HUGE design changes, but personally I think this makes the character look better! Thanks to the people who were kind enough to critique the first design a ways back.
  11. "A carriage? Oh no-no-no, that's not foalish at all! Although..." Ornatia had not considered the suggestion herself, but while she was appreciative of the advice she remained unsure of it. After all, how would she ever make a good impression on the locals? After all, a performer is only as good as her audience. But how could she be around the locals if she was unsure about trusting them? How could she be sure?!? Ornatia would have panicked, but it was neither the time nor place for rushed thoughts. 'Ugh, what a train wreck I must seem to be', Ornatia thought to herself, before finally putting her thoughts into word. "It is a nice idea, and I appreciate the suggestion, I really do. However, I am concerned, on a personal level, that riding a carriage through town for the purpose of sightseeing might be construed as, is the word, 'uppity'? Oh dear, here I go again, never sure of what to do..." Ornatia felt like she was completely blowing it suddenly, and gave a bit of a nervous chuckle as she wiped the sweat off of her head, pretending to be simply scratching again, as she nervously began to eye the others, checking their expressions for looks of confusion or discomfort. After a long and awkward silence, Ornatia lightly cleared her throat and spoke again, clearly more uneasy, "Er- perhaps, d-do you... *ahem* might you have any other suggestions, perhaps? Uhm... If it is not too demanding of a question."
  12. "Hmm? Oh, uhh, sure. Gimme a tick, I'll fish one out." Masala shuffled through the pockets of her satchel for a card, or something. She always came prepared with scores of advertising for her shop. After all, getting the word out was how business worked. ...Except that she forgot to fill her bags with anything. Drat, well, that's the end of-- wait, no! She did have one place where she kept cards, in case of card emergencies. Closing her eyes, and raising an eyebrow in slight embarrassment that she actually had to make use of such a silly emergency backup, she said, rather briefly, "Scuse me a sec." Taking a disappointed breath in and out, Masala reluctantly shoved her hoof into the cushioned mess of hair she called a mane, and began another fervent search for a card. A few seconds of glances here and there, and Masala finally pulled out a fine ebony-colored card, made by a friend back home when she began her business. She never switched designs since then; it looked to good to her. It had on it a steaming cup of tea with a mind leaf hanging out, almost seemingly isolated from the world in a solitary shaded background. Her shop was always a nice place to kick back and get away from the rest of the tiresome world and workplace, and she took pride in it being a small, uncrowded business. The smell of herbs she had bathed in this morning still hung in the depths of her mane, or so it appeared to be. Oh well, it was a pleasant smell for the card. brushing it off just in case there were hairs caught on the paper card, she offered it to Shanna, hoping it wasn't too odd of a storage method. The Chai Mare, her shop was called, or so the card said. What more did a simple cafe need in terms of title, after all?
  13. Oh goodness, that is without a doubt THE CUTEST face I have ever seen! You did great!
  14. A voice actor with a nice artist? Good combo, says I! Anyways, I'm Alec, one of the resident artists of the place! If you ever want to chat or RP, I'm nothing if not open to it! Welcome to our happy little forums!
  15. Happy Birthday yesterday, Manestream! I applied for that secret project, and gave it my best to throw down a nice piece of art, and I'm in love with how it came out. I really hope she is, too! In case you missed it, here's the beauty: Dear Princess Celestia, It is very hard to eat a cake with a lantern in your mouth.
  16. Once it's colored too, I'm sure. After all, this is all one color, and barely shaded at that. I can see how things here could blend together.
  17. Eeh, this is where I'm going to break off from the help wagon. Now, the helmet and the breastplate? Those I can change with no issues, that's easy, fine, etc. The armor, however, I have no intention of altering. In my eyes, it looks perfect for his character, and to be perfectly honest, those boot-things the Princesses and guards wear? I hate them. I hate the shape, I hate how they look. On Celestia and the guards, they're fine! But there's no way in hell anypony will ever get me to slap a pair of those on any of my characters. I'm sticking with the shape, but the design of the armor I could definitely redo.
  18. Gave a shot at thickening the legs, like you suggested. I really like how this came out, so far! https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6962625/Alec%27s%20Things/MondoWIP2.jpg If I were to change the chest plate, any ideas as to how I could change the way it's decorated?
  19. That sounds like a cool idea, but I'm actually dropping the yolk altogether. Here's the sketch of the WIP so far: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6962625/Alec%27s%20Things/MondoWIP.jpg any suggestions?
  20. Hmm. Yes, the terraforming I can drop for sure. I do see what you mean with the sue warning, so dropping the terraforming ought to eliminate that issue right there and then. As for color scheme, give me a bit on that, I'm actually redesigning him as we speak, to more suit that intimidation aspect I was talking about. But yes, plant behavior it is, and I'll see what I can do about the Cutie Mark. A cornucopia, you know, like one of those straw horn-like baskets with all the produce would probably be fantastic for him, and symbolic of both high powers and Earth's bounty. Thanks for the review, I'm liking this already!
  21. No no, the critique is perfectly alright! Honestly, I'm glad to hear that somepony suggested changing up the mane, because personally, I agree: the wavy stuff does not do the good stallion justice at all. However, I suppose there was a bit of confusion with his talent, so allow me to be more specific. When I say that he turns the earth, I mean that in a much more figurative, or at least partially figurative, sense. He is an earth-shaper, and when not keeping total control of his power, he can rearrange landscapes in very extreme ways with every step, hence the heavy presence of mountains and valleys in his land. Does this make him dangerous? Yes, absolutely. Keep in mind, though, his powers only come about when they are either not at all kept in check, or summoned upon specifically. He's been doing this for centuries, even millennia, after all, I'd personally be shocked if he didn't have a good grip on the wheel by now, if you follow. The seasons themselves is rather a theory on my own part. Magic is one thing, of course, but it's also important to note a change in air temperature as well, which more has to do with the weather than unicorn shenanigans. Now, making snowflakes, that's one thing, we already know what the pegasi do that, so that basically covers winter in terms of climate. Summer? Hot. Period. However, what about the trees and plants? They're in full bloom in the spring, bear fruit in the summer and fall, and, well, do what trees do and go into hibernation. Now, here's the slippery slope that I personally proposed. It's already been established that once a plant is planted, ponies can't do much to alter that. Heck, even the earth ponies, who are farming miracle workers are just as at the mercy of the plants they try to grow. I offer up Zap Apples as a bit of an exceptional example. However, what if there is indeed a force behind this? Cadence can repair a broken heart; heck, her power is basically love. Celestia raises the sun, Luna the moon. If these forces have a sovereign of their own (in more than one way in this case,) would the forces of earthly nature not have a master as well? This is why I specified that he holds control over the natural seasons: His magic changes the plants and woods of the world to fit the season, be they bringing into bloom, or dropping everything they have in preparation for a long wintry hibernation. An emphasis I need to stress on Emperor Mondo is that his power is not in some ball in the sky, not in a word spoken to another or a powerful feeling shared. His power instead is right beneath your hooves. It is in the earth. It is the earth. All the land's bounty is sustained by his powers, and from those bounties, life survives. Mind you, he can't make plants die whenever he wants, and he can't instantly plant a seed and have it become, say, a beanstalk that stretches into the sky. His control over plants is a passive control: he cannot force them, but he can change their behavior. Enough with the explanation of his talent and such, though I'd love to hear your feedback on that theory. As for the design, I think I definitely will look into more historical portraiture. Though to be honest, Mondo doesn't strike me as the helmet type, and full crowns on a pony just look off to me. Ah well, if I can make it work I will. Anyways, get back to me if you could, your advice and suggestions are always appreciated!
  22. Actually, this is an interesting and valid point to bring up! In terms of rulership, he is at an equal, if not greater, level of authority compared to his subjects as the princess Celestia of Equestria. However, when put in terms of personality, with Celestia being casual and kind to her subjects, Mondo is intended to be a very intimidating figure on his own, and one obsessed in past rituals and practices. In fact, he has his mind stuck in the past for the most part anyways, and this leads him to often hold grudges. He is a strict and unforgiving ruler to those that trespass his will, but he is no tyrant, and puts his laws as the ponies dictate and within the realm of reason. To this effect, I actually did base his design (as is obvious enough) at least in part off of Celestia's, to communicate the fact that Mondo is not just a parallel, but also an antithesis to our fair leader of Equestria.
  23. You shouldn't even worry about being all hot and bothered when Fox News of all things are involved. Slightly modified, but in the words of Miss Piggy, a silly but nonetheless true source, accusing bronies of being baby-people is like accusing Fox News of being, well, actual news.
  24. As someone who has huge aspirations, ambition, the resources I'd otherwise need to get there, and supportive friends who are always rooting for my success, not to mention a tendancy to overindulge, a bit of an authority issue with my own younger brother, especially when it comes to coordinated activities, and the notable ego, if not a certain level of self-obsession, I would say that I am very nearly a carbon copy of Rarity. If, you know, Rarity was male, human, and very, very gay.
  25. From the album: Vectored OCs

Did I just make an Alicorn OC? Yes I did. Angry yet? No? Good. Though this is strictly fanon because of wings and horn at the same time, Emperor Lapiste Terramondo (Emperor Mondo if that's easier to remember,) is the current ruler of the land of Itaily, and is also Celestia and Luna's uncle on their father's side. His special talent is turning the world to bring about the natural seasons, setting the stage for proper snow to fall, plants to change in autumn, bear fruit in the spring and summer, etc. Earthly powers and such. Enjoy, and tell me what you think!
