  1. Welcome to the partyc Pinkie Pie style! *balloons*
  2. Well I don't think there are too many musical ponies yet, and besides, who says we can't have multiple bands for a concert. I say go for it. Hmm. A pony summerfest!
  3. Made a few adjustments, I think Ponyville's getting a little crowded for one thing! I'd forgotten that I hadn't really gotten into her unicorn aspects, but I think I've resolved that. After all, I've never thought I'd have to -add- power to my characters! She's s'posed to be subtle though, like a warm sunny day.
  4. "Eeeyup. I'm a tree. Watch me pollinatin' the ladies, growin' apples, bein' all manly studly. Oh yeah, my best friend is a hot cowgirl horse. I'm such a tree."

    Um -

I like the way you've written this, I don't know if she'd actually get approved for mainstream RP...but with a little tweaking, I'd love to maybe see her come to life. I certainly appreciate and understand where you're coming from with her, and she's well written and described. I'm looking forward to seeing buxy's arts!
  6. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Sun Sprout (Nickname: Sunny) Gender: Female Age: Filly Species: Unicorn Pelt Color: Green, fading to a lighter green towards her hooves Mane/Tail Color & Style: Bright yellow, almost gold in its brightness, but somewhat short so they don't drag in the mud. Eye Color: Yellow, to match her mane Cutie Mark: Cutie Mark undiscovered at this stage, will be a brilliant sunflower with a smiley face in it. Physique: Slender filly, but built sturdy from her work in her mother's garden. Wears golden strappy shoes to keep her hooves from getting too dirty. Residence: "Heather Blossom's" flowershop in Trottingham Occupation: Works alongside her mother's flower shop 'Heather Blossom's'. Motivation: Will discover her talent for helping flowers grow. In her presence, they seem to bloom faster than normal. When ailing plants are brought to her, they seem to perk up faster than natural. Likes: Flowers! The bright and colorful, the better. Sweets (especially those that crunch!), singing to herself or with others(occasionally she'll be a little off key, but the flowers don't mind!), thunderstorms! Dislikes: Angry voices, bitter apples, loud and obnoxious voices, ponies that don't stop to appreciate where they put their feet Character Summary: As a foal, Sunny always had a bright and, well, sunny disposition. Always ready for a laugh and making ponies smile if she could help it. Frowny faces make her want to cheer a pony up, and she's not afraid to bring a flower or two as a gift. As the sun can be on a cloudy day, she has a temper that manifests when her buttons get pressed, but she'll switch back to sweet and friendly just as quick. Her mother, Heather Blossom, has been growing flowers since she was a filly and Sunny's the second generation to continue this tradition, sharing their various exotic flowers with the herbs they can get from across town. Sometimes Sunny will make a foray to the surrounding countryside to see if anything new has sprouted. Still being a filly, she's yet to demonstrate her true full potential; the plants listen to her. They may not have much to say, but she's got this way with the greenies that just makes them want to show their very best. In her presence, plants seem to perk up, as if getting a little extra boost just by her being around them. Enough time around them will cause them to bloom faster, though she rarely spends that much time in their presence except for her shop. Sunny helps her mother in the flower hospital as well, providing care and feeding of ailing plants that will be brought by their owners. Here, she demonstrates her best. She's never lost a patient yet! As a hobby, she will be able to use her unicorn magic to enhance the growth of her flowers and plants, helping little decorative trees assume intriguing and beautiful shapes. A sparkling laugh when she laughs, and an extra husky lilt to her voice when angry, she tends to be bubbly and forward to the patrons of the store. Her golden strappy sandals, a beloved gift from her mother, help keep her pony pedi'd hooves from getting muddy and chipped as she digs the new beds of the small flower beds around their cottage in Trottingham, periodically requiring repair from the town's shoesmiths, prompting for visits to the local establishments to see what else is new. When the new and exotic flowers come in from the Great Nimbusgait lakes, she gets so incredibly excited, their business fairly blooms! Her favorite time of year is Winter Wrap-Up, as she knows that Spring isn't far behind. The Running of the Leaves makes her both happy and sad at the same time, as the beautiful leaves are such a symphony of color, but leaves the poor trees naked and bare and she knows that Winter will not be far behind. She's not much for Pinkie's type of parties, though she'll happily cater bouquets of flowers when requested, four bits a basket, please! Someday she hopes to take over running her mother's business, but for now she's just happy to be a part of the whole thing. There isn't a space wasted in or around the cottage that doesn't have -something- green and growing in it! Sunny occasionally will take trips (Usually not alone at this age!) to surrounding locations. She even dreams someday to go to Cloudsdale, though she knows her chances of getting there are slim to none.
  7. Those're terribly cute. Poor Satchel, always at the wrong place at the right time, and then always on his way elsewhere. Maybe he'll show up later or he'll be found somewhere, who knows.
  8. Brian's explaination is far more complete than I was capable of. But suffice to say, it's certainly more complex than many people are willing to comprehend, and just because it's complex, doesn't mean it's invalid as the same people espouse. But throw in the word 'theory' and it unfortunately seems to throw question into the common mind that it's in question or in flux and undecided and therefore unproven or unsustainable and naturally their automatic conclusion is that it's wrong. Seems like far too many minds work like that, at least in my experience. Kinda like using the word ignorant. It's not necessarily a bad thing to be or to call someone, as ignorance can be easily resolved, but some seem to believe that if you call them ignorant, you're labelling them with something they require retribution for, rather than resolve the ignorance - in short, punishing you for their shortcomings. People are such twitchy things.
  9. Welcome to the forums! It's always a pleasure to see more join!
  10. Poor Pinkie. The song was horrible, but the outfit was too cute, and she was just trying so hard! And egad, AJ. Just a little scary there with that tree, doncha think?
  11. Not to be a pest, because this discussion is WAY over my head given how sick I am. But, Newton's "Law of Gravity" was just that - a law. But it was also superseded by Einstein's "General Theory of Relativity". Well, there's a difference between Newton's Law of Gravity, and the theory behind Gravity, is what I meant. Superseded by Einstein's Theory does illustrate the point, though...that until something comes along and proves it otherwise, it's generally accepted as true, which is how science works.
  12. Skye breathed a sigh of relief as even as the night had turned out to be a disaster, but yet somehow managed to work out. He took a deep breath, and concentrated hard, slipping out of his booth. He edged near the door, and when the opportunity arose, managed to dash out of it.
  13. PearlyxSpike would be too entirely adorable.

    Hello!

Thanks! I'll take your Wisconsin beer. Cheese makes me crazy high (and I'm not kidding), so I don't know if I'll take that or not. . . I dunno, our beer has some somewhat funky results, too! Except for New Glarus, it's good stuff!

    Hello!

    Welcome to the foray!
  16. The thing that gets on my nerves more than anything, are people who dismiss scientific study on the grounds that it's only a 'theory'. But the thing is here, is that theory has two meanings. One is literary theory (where it can pretty much be indistinguishable from opinion and therefore naturally questionable) and scientific theory, which is essentially 'It is until it is proven otherwise' which is pretty much the same thing as a law in everything but the finite sense of the word. As you said, no theory ever became a law, and that's the way that science works. But because some people see 'theory', they automatically dismiss it as irrelevant 'until hard facts come out' never once realizing or accepting that most theories are formed -because- of hard data that has supported them, and confuse a theory for a hypothesis. Of course, 'hypothesis' is too long and confusing a word for common people, and so it's not usually part of their general vocabulary. I live by the following general codes that have worked out well enough for me: Truth - A statement that has no requirement to be backed by factual or hard data. This includes things such as philosphy and opinions based on observations. I.E. Biblical Truth or more specifically ex: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Fact - A statement that is based on observable and reproduceable data. It is a fact that there is atmosphere, and what it is made of, 2+2=4, Light separates into spectrums when it is passed through certain materials, etc. Opinion - A statement that is formed based on a personal experience, education, and situational awareness. This can often be flawed and should never in any form be taken as factual on their personal merit without being backed up. Opinions can be True without being factual. Opinions, because they are always in flux, should never be accepted without back up, nor should they be immediately dismissed without it either. Axiom - That which is accepted as truth or factual until it is proven otherwise by data that has rendered it no longer relevant. Example: Space is infinite. This works well enough for me, and has, thus far, been true enough in my life that I haven't had to think of it otherwise. After all, remember, Gravity is only a theory too!
  17. Swallowed nervously, and closed his eyes, concentrating harder for a moment, before opening them slowly to regard the pink pegasus again. "I'm...I'm sorry, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm just, having a strange night, is all. You aren't disturbing me." his words, carefully chosen, nonetheless came out clearly. His eyes widened as he noticed Blueblaze approaching. When Djemba turned away to return to the bar, in full view of the blue pegasus, he lost control of it and for several clear seconds, Blueblaze found himself facing eye to eye with the peryton. He struggled for a second before reorienting his focus to the pony before, he sighed, looking up at him. "Shoot." It was a good thing he was seated where he was, with the light the way it was, the shift didn't draw immediate attention to his change, as anypony who might have already dismissed him would still see the same colors as before, and the same general outline, it was just the shape was slightly different. Skye swallowed nervously at Blueblaze, seeing no means of making a graceful escape, and buried his face in his hooves. "This went so terribly badly, I should have tried somewhere less public."
  18. The blue pony jumped as Djemba approached his table, and his outline seemed to waver for a moment. But that could have been due to a trick of the light, it was somewhat dark and the lighting inconsistent here. Whatever it was in her eyes, seemed to flicker only at the edge of her perception as he very solidly gazed up at her. "Oh, uh, hi there." he seemed rather taken aback by her upfrontness, almost as if he was constantly on the virge of saying something but never quite doing so. "New? You could say so, pretty new, yes." he spoke slowly, and deliberately, as if he were searching for exactly the right words. But his accent was local, and suggested he knew exactly what to say, almost more as if he were concentrating on his speaking. Unfortunately, the closer Djemba got to him, the more he seemed to focus on her. This was a disaster! He didn't mean to attract anypony's attention, and apparently his experiment failed. But now, how was he going to get out of here without causing a scene? Maybe he could gently discourage...no, that wouldn't work, that'd just draw the attention of all the other ponies in the vincinity as he scrabbled for freedom and he didn't want that either. His ears flattened, then perked up again. "Djemba? I'm Skye. Uhm, pleased to meet you?" he said uncertainly, his eyes darting about the room. "Not disturbing me, but I'm..." he broke off, a bead of sweat forming at his forehead. "I'm not used to company." Any other pony looking in their direction might be lucky enough to catch that his colors seemed much more faded and muted than they were when he came in, which could be written off to the dim light. As he concentrated harder, trying to spread the effect, the headache began to grow worse. He may as well been trying to move a grain of sand as a boulder with the power of willpower alone, and he couldn't keep this up for long without exhausting himself, he had to get out of here and quickly. Though he thought she was cute, he maybe should have tried in a less public venue. Smart thinking on his part, choosing this one! If only he'd planned further ahead for what would happen if he'd been noticed. But...well, he hadn't exactly been noticed, not as he had thought he might. If he could only keep this up for a little while longer...
  19. Skye looked cautiously into the window of Applebark. He didn't often come to Ponyville except for rare occasions, such as for a particularily strong smell of something delicious. Or like tonight, where he'd just happened to catch some music from a nearby establishment, which was like food to the ears. He'd also wanted to try seeing if he could shine more than just a couple of ponies in a group setting, even though the thought of it made him nervous to even try. It was unlikely any of them would do anything, but still, that many ponies in any given place tended to make him claustrophobic. And besides, it wasn't as if he had to go anyway. But the learning experience could be useful. His antlers glowed softly for a moment before he clothed himself in his chosen disguise. A smaller, unassuming stallion about his actual height took his place, cerulean blue pelt and a darker blue mane and tail. With nopony around, it was easy to do, he could even check himself in a reflective surface to make sure he had it right, but the real test would come when ponies tried to look at him. If he'd done it right, their eyes would just slide past him and register him as just another pony. Though he was sans cutie mark, he hoped none would focus on him long enough to catch the missing detail. Satisfied with his appearance, he took a deep breath, and carefully followed the last couple through the doors. A pink pegasus pony with a snare drum on her flanks, and...another blue pegasus with a music note on his. Skye wondered, perhaps tonight was some kind of festival or something. In which case, maybe he'd made a mistake, he should have come at a different time. With this many ponies about, he was sure to be noticed. As he entered the club, he was relieved, the population seemed much lower than expected. A light headache began to develop between his eyes, and he realized that he probably didn't want to stay too long regardless. He stood just inside the door, looking about for his next move, and registered the bar. "They'll probably wonder why somepony came in and never ordered a drink. That might be a bit much. I should have thought further ahead." After waiting for a moment for a better opportunity, he eased over towards a darkened booth and took a seat. The peryton hoped that at the very least, this would give him the opportunity to only have to focus on one serving pony if there was one, rather than the entire room.
  20. Welcome to the herd! C'mon in!
