  1. Another unicorn had found herself with an odd desire to leave her experiments for a time and get out into the city. Living on the outskirts, it was a tad difficult for anything except neccesity or the obtaining of more research material to pull the scientist from her basement laboratory. Her animal companion had scampered off for his nap, as most of his activities were nocturnal ones, so she had elected to take the journey into town alone. The clock tower had been much more functional lately, as her tutor Torvus had been restoring the old and rusted gears of the clock's mechanisms, and as it chimed noon the unicorn had gather all that she might need. Closing the flap of her saddlebag with a quick formless bit of emerald magic, Quantum Flux stepped out onto the dirt road that lead into Canterlot. Being more of a night owl, due to both her childhood and her increased efficeincy durin gthe hours of darkness, Flux was not pleased to be greeted by the Sun's harsh rays. She trotted into the main section of grand marble and alabaster city with no clear objective in mind. The mare merely needed to clear her mind of the jumbles of formulas and chemicals for increased focus later on in the day. Absentmindedly, the unicorn headed toward the Canterlot Park. It was an odd destination if one wanted a place to clear their thoughts, but she noticed that the area near the expanse of clear water in the park was empty, save for one colt. She completed her final hoofsteps by the edge of the grassland, just before in slanted down toward the marsh-like bank of the lake. Taking in a deep breath of air, Flux took in the sights and sounds of the land before her. Her work was nearly all-encompassing at times and getting outside was not something that she left was inmportant. Each time her mentor suggested it, she declared it a waste of time and proceeded to work on some new theory that had graced her mind. Today, however was the exception to the rule, as it seemed. She closed her eyes, trying to keep her mind blank of any scientific thoughts.
  2. Quantum Flux responded quickly, her words beginning in a rather rushed and surprisingly unprofessional tone for the unicorn scientist, but they smoothed out as she continued her words. "I have found it both immensely imformative and quite enjoyable. It should certainly assist me in my current projects. Corvus is quite well-mannered, my ferret here has an odd tendancy to take issue with any being that he is not familiar with. For that, the apology is mine. I also thank you for your co-operation thus far." As Tesla still watched the raven, the red-maned mare used a quick bit of levitational magic to remove him from his place in the carpet to a more portable location atop her saddlebags. With her companion in tow, Flux returned to the scientific section, both conducting futher investigation into the contents of her Equill Hoofing tome and a search for any other potentially helpful volumes. After all, the advantage of a bookstore was that the mare could keep the books indefinately for future reference. As she telekinetically reached for a book that had caught her attention, the unicorn noticed a drop in temperature around the shop. She glanced around briefly, wondering if it was caused by a lamp flickering out, but her serach was fruitless. Flux choose to take the most logical choice of merely assuming it to be a draft from an open window or the opening of the door by a new customer, whose presence was announced by the ring of a bell. Though inquistive as to any change in her environment, most ponies did not wish to be interrupted during their perusal of literature and thus Flux left the temperature change and new arrival to the back of her mind.
  3. The purple earth pony turned her head back toward the colt as he laughed a tiny bit. Her head tilted out of an odd quirk of the mare's which had always been described as puppy-like by those who dared to speak so familiarily to her as she had known them before. Of course, in these times, everypony treated her like they would anypony else. With the recent exception of this colt. He seemed a bit nervous, as though some wrong tread would result in something terrible happening. She also noticed his interested looks in her direction, as though he was trying to determine as much about her as possible. The thought almost made Wrong Note laugh, as it implied some air of mystery about her in her opinion. She assumed that a mare who spoke in song would likely be quite mysterious to the regular passerby, but it was an odd thought to consider. She did notice that the colt had an interesting physique for an aspiring model. It was one not oft seen, but still quite an easy one to work with. The earth pony had been given several long talks about the subject by her former stylist, Satin Lace, on many an occassion. However, she didn't want to stare and thus moved her gaze toward Survey's face as he requested the name of her hometown. "A big city indeed, one with a high social creed. Manehatten by name, creating many earth ponies of some fame."
  4. Flux nodded, considering the piece of writing as Inkblot described it. "Interesting. I do enjoy some fiction every once in a while as well. This one sounds rather interesting. A psychological overcoming wrapping inside a good survival adevnture. It appears like your tale will have at least one reader, Inkblot." She was completely sincere about it as well. After all, the best stories could tackle both deep and dramatic themes as well as old fashioned adventure style. It was really one of the making of a good novel in the eyes of the mare. "You must inform me of its release when such a thing does occur." Tesla's eyes were fixed on the raven throughout the conversation, unblinkingly trying to decipher it. He hadn't met many birds who hadn't tried to eat him or such before and it was the perfect time to learn about them. As it was said, know your enemy. However, he was already concluding that not all birds liked to terrify small mammals after all.
  5. "Ooh, sneaky of you," she said, the grin on her face turning into one of playful teasing. "Though, I was always around just to see the reactions on everypon's face. Plus, the notoriety wasn't bad either." Mirage pondered the earth pony's question, wondering if any particular pranks would come to mind. "Aha! Here's one. It's a bit of a classic, but teachers fell for it left and right. It went a bit like this. You string a piece of...well...string through the door hinges. Then, you set up a bucket of water and some flour atop the door frame and attach them to the rope. Make sure it pulled tight and then wait for somepony to walk in. When they do, the string is pulled loose and down somes your makeshift batter." The mare giggled as she told the story, past memories surfacing as she explained. "What about you then, mister ninja master?"

  7. Did somebody say Doctor Who? I totally love the show and I'm totally not going through Doctor Who withdrawl waiting for the next season, what are you talking about. When I first found it, I backtracked to Eccleson and watched up to Season Four, which was the current one at the time. Also, as Tennant was technically my first Doctor, I was pretty sad to see him go. However, I'm not quite sure why so many people dislike Matt Smith. I mean, Tennant is probably a hard act to follow, but I'm still digging the Eleventh Doctor. However, I wasn't too fond of this year's Christmas Special. It may have been the beginning putting me off, but I just wasn't feeling it for that episode. Discussion, perhaps? And, on a slightly off topic note, I really need to check the entertainment thread more. I'm suprised there are so many Whovian Bronies. Good suprised though.
  8. Wrong Note was deliberate in keeping her eyes picked upward as she listened to the green unicorn speak. She was once again staring out at the lapping waves of the ocean, taking in the tranquility of her surroundings with all of her senses. Another thing I would have never appreciated if not for the curse, she acknowledged. However, she did not want to give off the impression that she wasn't listening to his words, so she ensured that there was an obvious sight of her attentiveness. It had been years since she last stood by a beach and then it was only for painful reasons. Sharing the beach with her current company was certainly a much more fitting memory for the beauty of the sea. She found it interesting that a pony not born into the part would want to join the ranks of the modelling elite. Even Wrong Note herself had found the task rather dull as a filly. However, she supposed that everypony had their own wishes and talents and thus perhaps it was not so strange. His question caused the mare to give a small chuckle, realizing that her attire for the event had probably given him such an impression. When she had left Manehatten, the only clothing she could bring were the high society cocktail dresses and party gowns which she was used to wearing. She had slowly replaced her wardrobe over the years since, but one dress she had kept. It was a flowing midnight blue gown that had drawfed her when she had first seen it as a foal. It had been the dress in which she had performed her very last show, the final one before the curse took hold. The mare couldnt merely abandon her past completely, so she kept the dress out of sentimentality rather than need. However, when she found herself drawn back toward the life she had left, if only for one night, the earth pony had supposed she may as well look the part. However, her reminiscing would not answer the Survey's question, so she began to sing her response once again. "Not at all, my dear colt, though I can see why that idea shone like a bolt. I am a mere observer now, though I used to be well-know of it in my hometown."
  9. Vulpus' smile only served to fuel her own. "Oh, Vulpus, you have no idea. I was infamous in Cloudsdale during my fillyhood as quite the experienced prankster. I was the bane of every teacher at Cloudsdale Flight School and I enjoyed every moment of it." She paused for some effect, but also to gather her own recollection of the events. "When I grew older, I of course found my talent and toned down the pranks, but I'm far from out of practice." She kept the grin wide on her muzzle, thinking back to the schoolyard antics which she had caused. Impulsiveness did give one a certain tendancy toward havoc, after all.
  10. "I'll keep that in mind," Flux replied, muzzle covered by the thick spine of the volume which she held. "Thank you, Inkblot." As the pegasus trotted off, Tesla peeked his head out from beneath the flap of the unicorn's saddlebag. He made his was out of the fastened bag and over to the area of carpet immediately in front of his owner. He looked up at the book, not understanding the words written there but knowing enough about his master to know that she wouldn't emerge anytime soon. Taking advantage of this time, he curled up in the fibres of the carpet, eager to get some undisturbed sleep. However, a stray thought brought Quantum Flux from her engrossed reading. She closed the book gently, keeping it aloft in a bubble of magic that floated behind the mare as she trotted over to the maghogany desk she had noticed earlier. "Excuse the interruption, but you are writing a book, you say? Interesting. On what topic?"
  11. Well, as you said earlier, Bolding mine. That's what I meant. I was wondering how you planned to direct the RP without the courtroom aspect.
  12. The snow-coloured unicorn nodded in response to his name, continuing to peruse the books that were house between the planks of wood that made up the shelf. The deep red carpet felt soft beneath her hooves, creating quite the homely atmosphere when combined with the lighting and scents of the place. She felt as though she could just curl up with one of the books she eventually found and have quite a relaxing time amongst the selection of texts contained within the walls of the shop. Flux noticed a name out of the corner of her eye. Equill Hoofing had completed the third volume of his anthology on the biology of pegasi. With another flash of telekinetic magic, the book was open and subject to inspection by the mare. Hearing Inkblot's question, she responded quickly, picking up her head from skimming the book's contents. "My name Quantum Flux, Inkblot. But you may call me Flux if you so choose."
  13. Great! He'll definately be needing some of that assistance though. I shall look forward to the RPs that come from this idea.
  14. Flux smiled, happy that the black pelted pony did indeed keep books on her favourite of topics. Scientific research had been the catalyst for her cutie mark and the cause to which she had dedicated her life. It combined her desire for knowledge with her propensity for testing the information she was given. And who was she to contradict the symbol that declared her talent. The science of cutie marks was another topic which she vowed to study one day, but her current project was quite a tricky one in its own right. Unified Magical Theory was a difficult theorem to prove, due to her lack of willing subjects for study so far. Until an oppourtunity presented itself, she did as much research as she could on related subjects, gather piece of fact to add onto the skeleton of the theory. With a nod of thanks for the pegasus' directional advice, the unicorn trotted down toward the far left shelf. Her eyes twinkled at the sight of books, a near contant throughout her life. As she perused her shelves, Flux realized that she had not learned the name of the shopkeeper. "If I may inquire to the subject, what is your name?"
  15. Flux was slightly started by the eagerness of the pegasus' approach, but she didn't let it phase her. The unicorn made a quick sweep of the shop, trying to gauge her surroundings. It was a smaller shop, no Great Library of Canterlot to be certain, but it had quite a charm of its own. The mare breathed in the familiar, lovely smell of books and couldn't help but think that she had made the right decision in choosing this shop for her purposes. The lamplight was each aisle a more mysterious appearance and the unicorn had to admit that she had a fondness of the earth pony method of lighting. "Oh, not at all. He's quite the bird. A raven, if I'm not mistaken. I suppose that makes your establishment aptly named. However, there is something you can assist me with. Would you happen to be in possesion of any non-fiction texts?" Flux posed the question with good reason. Most pony-owned bookshops were specializers in fiction rather than tomes of fact. It wasn't that the mare didn't enjoy a fantastical tome every now and again, but she muh preferred hard fact to fiction. Tesla looked back at the sharp eyes of the raven, a steely look in his own eyes. He wasn't quite sure of the raven's intentions, but he was certainly not in the mood to tangle with a bird today.
  16. Hm...well, my OC Neon Stargazer has fashioned himself a superhero identity. He's a bit of a bumbling fool (though he is getting better at that) and not unicorn by any stretch but there's no way he'd pass up an oppourtunity like this. If you feel he may be better as a sidekick or the like, I could probably work that out too.
  17. Quantum Flux trotted at a brisk pace through the streets of Canterlot's buisiness sector. The lamps that illuminated the pathways at night still flickered in their posts, as the lampkeeper had not yet completed her rounds. The sun was peaking over the great mountain into which the ancient city had been carved, giving the white spires of Canterlot Castle and even more luminous sheen. With her this morning was her companion Tesla, a small ferret who had grumpily refused to vacate her saddlebags earlier that morn. Not wanting to miss a lick of her book browsing time, she had levitated the bag, ferret and all, from its position on her desk to a secure position atop her back. She had a couple of goals in mind for this venture, but they were merely guideline and not strict manadates for tasks to be completed with the assistance of whatever new research or theorems she could obtain. However, a chance appearance of a sliver of light lit up a silver glided window sign that read "Open". As she had noticed the shop for the first time, she spent a moment or two examining the building. It didn't seem fairly old, but not particularly new either. Perhaps I have merely overlooked it during my earlier searches. Deciding that a trip to the Great Library could wait, she trotted toward the door and opened it with a flourish of her viridian magic.

  19. Mirage smiled, happy that her advice had been at least a tiny bit helpful to the stallion. In comparison to the events of his life, hers had been a cloudwalk. Even her rather extreme rebellious phase had caused few problems for her later in life. She couldn't just leave the earth pony feeling so sad about his own situation. Even her bit of advice had probably dredged up painful memories of the past. So, she pondered a topic that she could discuss with him that didn't involve such things. "So, have you ever pranked anypony before?" The pegasus felt slightly foolish asking, but she had been reminded of her childhood antic by their delve into Vulpus' past. She was curious if anypony had similar humour tatics to her younger self.
  20. Oh! Oh! Me! I am a bit behind on my Ace Attorney lore (Neoniie really needs to catch up on her playthroughs), but I'd still be interested in crossing the two. I've never done a crossover RP before. Just for some plot building/clarification, what excatly would we be dealing with if it's a sans courtroom RP?
  21. Wrong Note was rather confused by the holding of the colt's smile, even after she had sung her words to him in such a dismal pitch. It was a rare thing, one she had only encountered from a zebra stallion when she had first arrived in her current residence of Hoofington. The curse which had transformed both her life and her voice had isolated her for most of its time in effect and thus finding a pony whom was not very bothered by it was a rare thing indeed. His first reply to her initial stanza was an interesting one. He seemed to have an opposite mentality to that of the purple mare herself. Deep down, the earth pony yearned to be inside the party with the high society guests and not having to hide lest her true identity be revealed. She had accepted that the glamourous life she used to lead was a thing of tha past and that in the end she was better off knowing the value of kindness rather than wealth, but she still had an inkling of wish for her old life. His second reply was, if possible, more shocking to the mare than the held smile. Somepony truely considered her cursed voice to be good. It seemed as though the mare had been transported to some alternate Equestria. It was true that even through the curse she suppose that some of her original gift remained, but based on the perameters of the wicked spell, she was surprised that some ponies' voices were considered worse than her own. As he introduced himself, he took his hoof. The practice of hoofshaking still felt a tad strange to the mare, having been raised in the high class, but she liked it much more than bowing to everypony she met. With a shake, she introduced herself. "I am Wrong Note, a seller of products for thos on a fishing boat. It was not always so however, but at the moment that is 'whatever'. I find interest in your dream, would you be willing to share that thought stream?"
  22. Neon had a little bounce in his step, feeling quite energetic despite the gloominess that the normally imperceptive earth pony felt about his older companion. Nevertheless, he was free from the iron grip of school and he had a purpose in mind, even if it was just directing a stranger to his destination. It could be said that the colt was far too willing to help complete strangers, but he was not ignorant of that fact, regardless of his young age. Even though he tended to bungle his superheroics, he had still gotten a glimpse of the worse side of pony society. He didn't let that bother him however, as he firmly believed that the good could always outweigh the bad. He felt quite a swell of confidence at the light blue unicorn's praise. It wasn't often that such a conpliment was directed at the colt and he definately enjoyed it. With a slightly self-satisfied grin, he listened to Magic Bolt's story. As the stallion weaved the tale, he tried to put himself in the hooves of the younger Magic Bolt. His imagination was rather vivid, as most colts' are, and he painted the story around him as the stallion spoke. The story brought two things to the colt's mind. The first was the realization that perhaps he wasn't as much of a late bloomer as he had thought. After all, this stallion hadn't discovered his purpose until he reached older colthood as well. It gave the yellow earth pony some hope that he could still find his talent. The second thing was a phrase oft said by his father, which he recited aloud. "I think you should, mister. After all, memories are what make up a pony. Without them, you'd be kind of a blank slate, I guess." He ended hesitantly, unsure what his father's exact reasoning had been.
  23. Quantum Flux returned the country pony's hat tip with a dip of her own head. It was much more customary in Canterlot to greet an unfamiliar guest or visitor with a more formal manner. It was only with the closest of friends that one would shake hooves. Thus, the sapphire pony's enthusiastic greeting of Colton did strike her as quite odd at first. Of course, her mind caught up with her instincts fairly quickly and she realized that such formalities were likely exclusive to Canterlot. Tesla gave an impatient sound to get the attention of his owner. She looked down at the brown mammal with confusion, unsure why he would be drawing her attention. With an expression that was as close to a roll of the eyes as a ferret could get, the pointed at the newly-introduced Country Smash with his entire paw. It was then that she realized that she had not yet returned the stallion's introduction. With surprise at the forgetfulness that had struck her as of late, the unicorn began to speak. "I am Quantum Flux. Well met, Country Smash." The question posed to the two caused Flux to take pause. Though they had encountered no further meddling in their attempts to devise something from the book the unicorn obtained at the library, she was still apprehensive about sharing their reasons for travelling. She could sense that the stallion was likely merely curious, which did relieve some of the suspicion from her mind. "We have come to Saddleveil in search of the traditional cryptology of this region. A symbol that matched the style of Saddleveil was recently brought to my attention and we travelled here to find a possible clue to its meaning or current use." Not wanting to trouble the pony with questions unless the opportunity was suggested by the stallion himself, Flux left her explanation there. As a secondary motive, she didn't want to leave Colton out of the explanation, as she wanted to be certain that he agreed with her openness about the purpose of their journey.
  24. Oh my, an Ace Attorney fan who enjoys Friendship is Magic? Where have you been all my life?! You know, other than my IRL friend who likes both, but whatever I'm also not exactly a shipper as well, though that's more due to some personality traits of mine, so to speak. Though, oddly, I managed to get one of my OCs into such a relationship. I guess life's kinda wacky like that. Anyways, I digress, welcome to the forums! I'll look forward to seeing you around the other areas of Canterlot.
