About myself.: Computer Technician, Furry, Writer, Gamer, Reader, Artist (depending on your deffinition), over all NERD How did you hear about Canterlot.com?: Equestria Daily How did you became a fan of FiM?: After spending a year hearing how great it was, finally watched it... (more below) My one favourite main cast pony?: Rainbow Dash Hello Everypony/Everyone, I'm new, but I guess that's kinda obvious. I've been around the 'net a few times though so hopefully I'll avoid any n00b mistakes here (if I do screw up and dont realize it, do tell me!) Guess I should start off with a few facts, since people love random facts: I'm in my final year of college in Computer Science, I work(ed) as a Computer Service Tech and the "mandatory" job of "Expidited Food Service Technician" (Go ahead an laugh, as one of my favorite podcasters said "your all gonna have to (work food service) at some point in your lives, Either when your young or when your old, everyone does it!") I'm a furry. Might as well get that out of the way. I hope nobody's going to start flaming me with all the negative media furs have gotten in recent years. For those interested in my furry side: I'm a white tiger, spiritual therioanthrope, RPer, and author. If you count MLP as "furry" then I'm also technically an artist. I have been known to wear my tail in public and if you dont like it, dont look at it (ironically I've never gotten negative feedback) Related to the above, and the below, I started off online in the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom. Wrote LOTS of fanfics, read many times more, left it when the TV series ended and the comics started veering back into "Game Canon" and beyond (roughly Issue 55 was the last one I read) It took me a long time to get into MLP:FiM... being a child of the 80s, I remember the original with less than steller feelings. Occasionally seeing flashes of it here or there over the years left a sour taste in my mouth and with the feeling it was a "30 minute toy commercial" (which it kinda was) Thus when FiM came around I was resistive. A lot of my furry friends told me it was good, I didnt listen. What finally got me to reconsider was seeing it's entry on TV Tropes (if you've not been there, it's awesome but it will CONSUME YOUR SOUL!!!) that opened with Faust's words and proceeded to re-iterate that the series was a radical break from the original series. I finally watched it with a semi-open mind. First, I still remembered the original, Second, it was a "kids show" which to me meant "we can save the world with a hug!"... I spent the first few minutes pleased with it, though when Applejack said "We sho' do like makin' new friends!" I almost gaged and turned it off, Twilight's reaction (along with the following flurry of puns, which I love) kept me watching. Then I met Rainbow Dash. At that point, I was hooked. But I still didnt "love" the series untill Winter Wrap-up. After that, I finally admitted to myself that I loved the series and reluctantly accepted the "brony" tag. Since then I've gotten a lot better. I watch every episode, I tell everyone about the series (without pushing it too hard on them) and I'm even planning a Rainbow Dash cosplay. (Not to mention I'm saving for a few MLP Tshirts and a Rainbow Dash messenger Bag) I stumbled on this site through a link somewhere in the archives of Equestria Daily, looking for a place to discuss the series and talk about fanfics/ideas I have. While I've been an AVID roleplayer in the past (including building and running 3 now-failed roleplay sites) I'm not expecting to do much of it here (no promises on that not changing...) Currently I'm writing 2 MLP Fanfics with ideas for 3 more. I also took the plunge into artwork and today posted my first image on DA that's Pony related (a gift to my "curent" Dungeon Master (I say "current" even though I've not been to the games for weeks...)) I'm also toying with animating some vectors to create my own fan series but given my voice-work is poor (I can *almost* voice 2 ponies -fluttershy and Pinky - and I can atleast make a voice recognizeable as Applejack even if it's far from perfect) I highly doubt I'll do more than a few very low-quality shorts... though I'm considering making a few comics if I get inspired... Ok, loooooooong intro. Short Version: I'm a nerd who loves MLP and came here to discuss the MLP universe and fanfics with other Bronies! Catch you all on the flip-side! -Ashton
