  1. Well said chancellor. We are living in a golden age of both high quality modern programming and songs that are more accessible than anything was 10 years ago. While there is only one show (house) that I enjoy more than MLP, I have no doubts that when it has run its course there will be other replacements. Until then, suck the marrow from the bones!
  2. That reminds me of my habit of using "Firstly", "Secondly", "Thirdly" and "Lastly".
  3. I welcome you in the way only Photo Finish could: "Nervous? Don't be ridiculous. You're only facing a large crowd of ponies, who will be watching your every move, and silently judging you."
  4. A few years ago, I learned that words like "very" "extremely" do not actually add meaning to your writing. My usage of them was high. I might have said in the past "In my opinion, Fall Weather Friends is the very best episode" for example. I have been very conscious of removing these words from my vocabulary of late. Other subtractions are things like "In my opinion", which also adds nothing to anything subjective since it is obvious that it is a preference. I love "thus"! "Therefore" as well. My catchphrase was "really?" until people started pointing it out. I had no idea I was doing it, and though I liked it, I naturally stopped because I became self conscious of it. Though I do not type it often, verbally I use "Indeed" as my go to affirmative answer.
  5. Well, if the problem doesn't just go away on its own, and it might if you stay silent, then you should prepare yourself to defend the series. It is of good quality, and is not terribly difficult to justify. It may not change their minds or stop teasing, but it will increase your confidence in yourself and your hobby. Why do you watch it? Answer that for yourself before opening my reasons below:
  6. Honestly if someone is looking for a villain, why are they here? The show is so much better than its occasional forays into exciting action. And other shows do it way better. I won't regret the loss of those kinds of fans. Much. Ok I will, but I think they are missing out on the best that the show has to offer. Also, I've been rating the episodes on iTunes on my second pass through the two seasons, and my season two average is slightly higher than my season one average. At first I thought I liked the premier season more, but I think that was an illusion created by watching the entire first season in a few sittings, and the second season episodes one at a time.
  7. Truely, you have chosen the right avatar to represent you. MLP is definitely on my list of passions that could leave a weird first impression.
  8. Personally I'm not worried. I got tired of SG-1 well before the die-hard fans quit. The community was alive and healthy when I started looking for something else.
  9. "Scrubs" did an entire episode focused on the supporting cast (The Tod, Janitor, etc) and it was outstanding. However, I love that the show focuses on platonic friendships and I'm in no hurry to see any more crushes.
  10. You sir, have an extremely low threshold of shame. I understand not telling people, but the show is neither wrong nor excessively foolish.
  11. Well it has a vote NOW. Was that just out of spite? : )
  12. If I have to choose something different than "don't stop me now"... Maybe this: Or this:
  13. http://ilovecharts.tumblr.com/ recently posted a comic from "Abstruse Goose" and I decided to check it out. If you like nerdy xkcd type humor, give this a shot: http://abstrusegoose.com/43 Edit: check this one out too: http://abstrusegoose.com/156 Just...Wow. Did you ever wish you used fewer strong words so that when you did they would mean more? That is kinda how I feel about this particular comic.
  14. and loyalty escapes unscathed!
  15. I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver - Maya Angelo
  16. Well Puddinghead, you will notice that Tales likes your post so it must be ok. Cable/DVR seems like a fantastic way to deal with it to me.
  17. Talk. This. Out. With. Her. Good luck.
  18. Season 1 episode 1 is free! Get that one first! I think the quality of standard definition is fine.
  19. Do you need to have the high def version? You get an entire season of standard definition for just $30. $1.15 per episode! It sends me an email as soon as the next season 2 episode is available...
  20. Curiosity is getting the better of me and I think I could wrangle up the open-mindedness necessary to read a fanfic, but probably not more than one. Could someone recommend one complete story of inviting length that is emotionally (rather than action) driven and friendship (rather than romantically) themed? It should feel authentic.
  21. Dropping furniture on TS in Feeling Pinkie Keen is about the right amount of appearance. You know HD was directly involved, no words are necessary, and it fits rather seamlessly into the important part of the story without being a huge distraction.
  22. That is a surprise. It is a wonderful episode, but I had only barely considered it to be a contender. I think I am so annoyed by the crusaders that even when they have a good episode it leaves a bitter aftertaste. I love origin stories, but sometimes it is better to not know, then to know it is a little lame. Applejack's was awkward, Pinkie's was made no sense, and Rarity's started great but had a terrible conclusion. The costumes looked baaaad with the gems.
  23. Nielsen Guy: That concludes the survey, do you have any questions? Weesh: Yes, how many viewers does one survey taker represent? Nielsen Guy: You do represent thousands of viewers in your area You hear that? I represent THOUSANDS of My Little Pony fans!
  24. I have this very day received a tool of great power and I will wield it to the betterment of pony fans everywhere. I am talking, of course, about the Nielsen Television Viewing Survey that came in the mail today. Tomorrow morning I will call Nielsen with pride and inform them that I watch My Little Pony (and House). Let it not be said that never has weesh failed to not do what he ought not to when the time called for it. Rejoice with me in our victory! Also, the survey came with two crisp one dollar bills. What is up with that?
