  1. Welcome to Canterlot! I too am a Twilight Sparkle fan. Half nerdy eh? Well... I'm a total nerd, but I think your partial nerdiness should be enough for us to get along well .
  2. It has been there since ep 1 with the introduction of the Apple family. They are just making it more obvious lately.
  3. After the mythbusters tested it it is no surprise. I think twilight requested a ban from celestia and she granted it.
  4. Allow me to tip my hat to thee and be the first to welcome you to Canterlot! I'd say I'd describe myself in the same manner as yourself, except for the humorous part. That means we'll either get along well or drive each other mad (I'll opt for the former in this case). And judging from this intro... you are Rarity with the personality of Twilight...? INTERESTING! I'm Twilight with the personality of well... Twilight!
  5. You are from Stephen King story country! Maine! No wonder it is weird where you are! Also coffee is fine, unless you are me and it has no effect what so ever, but I still drink it occasionally. Either way, welcome to Canterlot. I am Star Swirl. I think we'll get along fine. @fearanger: I'm sure you have seen this.... but here is "Today on Mythbusters" where they give Pinkie Pie some coffee with lots and lots of sugar as an emulsifier... Let's just say the bunker won't be as effective as you think
  6. " You're often found diving into a book or spending hours working on that project of yours. It's important that you put in as much of an effort learning as possible so your knowledge will someday come in handy. Because of this, you may sometimes be skeptical of things that you don't have any proof of. While you tend to be booksmart as opposed to streetsmart, you also tend to be a tad socially awkward, not always sure how well you fit in with your friends or maybe not even having a lot of them in the first place, but you're still a solid friend when it comes down to it and would be there to help any of them with their problems. Even though you may be talented, you're the total opposite of a showoff, shying away from bragging or even talking about your talents. You don't want the world to think you're a braggart, after all. You're quite humble and modest, but you're also looking for acceptance and praise for your talents. Can't say that I am at all surprised. I knew I was most like Twilight. I'm a bit surprised by AJ being #2 though. I'm not much like her at all. I saw the lack of Pinkie Pie a mile away though, same with Fluttershy. I have to say though, there are times when my competitive edge makes me like RD, but that wasn't able to be reflected in the test. Most of these tests are very shallow, but hey, a full personality test takes much longer. Oh right, and I am very much street smart. I just also happen to be book smart as well.
  7. Even some kids want more accurate toys. I think Hasbro needs to fix that before all else. Collectors toys would be good though.
  8. OK... That is the first real argument against this idea I have heard yet. I had totally forgotten about the Dr who contests (I think I blocked them from memory). So... Yeah. Some horrible designs. Why did you have to remind me? As for the second, it largely depends on selection processes and rules. It is likely they would opt for hand drawn designs, but that doesn't mean that the selection be done entirely by Hasbro.
  9. Technically Hasbro can use ANY character made by fans right now, because you are using character designs based on their property. So, there wouldn't be any legal issue, because, we did not come up with the design or the concept. The characters fall under fair use, but that does not mean the creators can lay claim to the concept art. The creator can request monetary compensation for use of their character design idea, but that is where the legal issue would end. Any further than that would not end well for the artist. And I have a feeling that Hasbro would not have issue giving monetary a prize either for adults, and a toy based prize for kids, along with their character being displayed as a background pony. Edit: Again this is only an idea. And even if they limited it to kids only, tell me that you don't think an adult would enter just because they wanted. Hell it is a high possibility that adults would enter more than kids anyway.
  10. I understand your latter concern, but your former... How? MLP is the property of Hasbro, who would be running the competition. It is their intellectual property, therefore there would be no legal issues. All creations fall under fair use, and if they incorporate it into the show it would be their call. Again the bronies getting fat heads is a concern, but it would be as much for them as the younger community whom the show is targeted towards, and for a kid to have their creation put on a show, is a pretty big deal.
  11. I've been lurking in the community for a little under a month, been a fan for about two months. There is no doubt that there is no lack of creativity in the MLP:FiM community. From the music to the RP OCs. I really think they need to hold contests for the fans. Specifically an original character contest with the winner having their creation be a background pony on the show. Companies have done this before in the past. I know Nickelodeon did this at least once in the 90s, and I recall it being a big hit with a huge response. I think they can easily do it with the community we have here. They can choose either to do it by original artwork or by a pony designer that they can create (I know there is one already, but they will likely want to make their own). I think it would be a great opportunity not to see the fans getting recognition but also to bridge the adult fandom with the younger fandom (naturally there would have to be at least 2 choices, one from older fans and one from younger, at minimum). What does everypony think of this idea? Btw, I apologize if this idea has been posted about before, I used the search and came up with nothing.
  12. Off topic: I always assume floating timeline in episodic series like MLP:FiM. Any other timeline doesn't make much sense. I mean, Winter Wrap Up came before Fall Weather Friends. If we assume chronological order, that means that A YEAR passed within two episodes. Which means, that in theory, by the time Green isn't your color rolled around they could have all aged several years... So yeah... floating timeline it is. Basically whatever time of year the writer wants it is, it is, no other system. They are set at their undetermined ages (except for Pinkie whom we know had a birthday). And we assume that all stories are being told without time being a major concern. Another way to think of it is the retrospective timeline. The stories being told are by the central protagonist or third party observing telling the story after events have already transpired. This allows for the discontinuation of time, and thus making time irrelevant to the story save for time of year necessary for certain events to occur (ie Fall Weather Friends, Winter Wrap Up, and Hearth's Warming Eve) That said... On Topic: According to Hasbro or the Hub (can't remember where I read it) Twilight brought the 5 ponies together. So it can be assumed that none were particularly close to any other pony before Twilight came to Ponyville. They must have known about each other (I mean, with events like the Running of the Leaves, and Winter Wrap Up, it would be hard for them to have NOT had contact.) However being *close* friends is an entirely different story. Pinkie Pie considers every pony in Ponyville to be her friend, but her close friends are within the mane 6, which Twilight brought together. And honestly, outside of those events, the mane 6 have such polarizing abilities, that I doubt that they would have need to contact each other. Perhaps due to her interest in sewing and design Fluttershy stalked (read, never went in) to Rarity's shop (Had she done so, Rarity would not have been so surprised at Fluttershy's freaky knowledge of fashion and sewing, which would lend to the idea that they were not close before Twilight). Applejack likely had contact with Pinkie Pie the most, due to the cake shop needing apples, and them both being interested in baking. However, how close they were is up to debate. But from a logical standpoint, they had the best chance. No other pony had need to really see any other pony. The only other possibility is again Pinkie Pie and Rarity, with Rarity helping to do decorations for Pinkie's parties. I don't think RD and FS had much contact after FS was grounded, and since she doesn't live in Cloudsdale and has no involvement with weather, I don't think RD and FS really had much contact, let alone being friends. Well... That is my analysis. Feel free to agree or disagree with any part of it or take it apart... I won't mind Edit: I'm on my second rewatching, and realized that Opal could have broken the ice between Rarity and Fluttershy without the topic of fashion coming up. So they could have also met through that route. But again, that could have been either a business arrangement and not a friendship. I won't discount the possibility though. It also can't be determined how close they got from that one segue, but we know that animals help Fluttershy open up to people so it is a strong possibility that they could have been friends because of that.
  13. MrSpiderman is clearly made of awesome and win. Welcome to the herd.
  14. But what of Pony Parker? Isn't he your photographer pony?
  15. ^This! I don't think people realize that .avi and .mkv are containers, nothing more. You can interchange them all you want. Now, the only time you need a converter is if you have a conflict with codecs (like PS3 doesn't play nice with certain codecs, or doesn't play them at all), otherwise, you can do everything through simpler softwares, from changing the size of the picture to changing the container.
  16. A photo pony? Finally! A rival for photo finish! Welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay here
  17. This community is very friendly and lively. I welcome thee to the capital of Canterlot. I am star swirl the bearded, but you may shorten it as you wish. I hope we can get along well
  18. Welcome to Canterlot. I'm more or less new here as well. I am star swirl the bearded, but feel free to shorten it. I hope we can get along well And pinkie's song is marvelous.

  20. So apparently they take requests based on region. Good to know.
  21. I did ask them to keep snow light this year... needed a break from the blizzards of yesteryear. I guess they are honoring my wishes?
  22. I thought Pinkie only had a party cannon... She has another cannon to launch herself?! Hm this is an interesting turn of events. Are ponies made indestructible? I mean RD has that tactical rain nuke she used to destroy that barn too...
