  1. I once experienced an event in my life that could be very well classified as a slowing of time. I was in the eighth grade (this was years upon years ago) and everything around me seemed to move at a crawl. The teacher's and movements seemed slow, my own body seemed sluggish to respond, and I could very clearly remember perceiving everything around me as just going so lazily, even things beyond my sight or immediate surroundings. I've never been able to replicate it.
  2. I... don't think we actually had a Clean Up Song. :\ Nnnnope. The person below me has more posts than I do!
  3. I'm a little bit confused by your signature, Aria, but I actually like it. It first made me think of Big O, but only for the first sentence. The colors are nice, and the Celestia cutie mark is very lovely. 5/5!
  4. Something tells me this has already been brought up, but wouldn't it be hilarious if the mods made this thread infinitely long? >.>
  5. I don't believe ponies have their age measured by years. I think the ages are: foal, colt/filly, and mare/stallion.
  6. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Amity "AA" Accurate Sex: Colt Age: Stallion Species: Unicorn Eye Color: Deep Blue Coat Color: Light Blue Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Red with blue stripes grown out somewhat long and unruly. The tail is often better brushed than the mane is. Physique: He's always been somewhat big-boned, but constantly cantering or galloping about to get the latest scoop keeps him in good shape. Cutie Mark: A black megaphone aimed upwards with a red ribbon wrapped about the base. Origin/Residence: Canterlot Occupation: Traveling 'town crier'/news journalist Motivation: Amity knows that while, in some cases, a 'white lie' can spare a friend's feeling from the truth, it is important above all things to be honest. Deceiving others with lies only causes more problems in the end, and from his point of view it is unacceptable. Not only that, but even if the truth is being told, that doesn't mean everypony knows about it. He feels it to be his duty to spread the word throughout all of Equestria if he can, to keep truth (about current and past events) alive. His greatest goal would be to one day hear everypony he comes across no longer has the need, or desire, to lie. Every new morning is a chance to find a secret hidden away and bring it to the light of day. Likes: Talking to friends, correcting gossip, reading current news and past history, discovering the hidden and unknown, writing, fantasy fiction books, and informing the uninformed. Dislikes: Lies, secrets, intentional or unintentional misinformation, and slow news days. Character Summary: Amity Accurate was anything but accurate in his youth. Somewhere when he was just a foal he got it into his head that lying was the same thing as telling fun stories that everypony liked to hear. Not only that, but it had the added benefit of getting him out of trouble he didn't want to face. Growing up as a little pony in Fillydelphia, he would often spend his time astouding friends with spectacular tales of impossible feats he performed, or simply bold-faced lying to ponyfolk. All of this would come back to bite him on the flank as he approached the cusp of colthood when he ran through the streets crying, "The timber wolves are coming! The timber wolves are coming!" Obviously this was nonsense... Fillydelphia was too large to worry about such threats, and rather than him being right and wolves actually coming, he was simply ignored. For a young pony who was used to having people at least grudgingly listen to his stories and lies and playing along, he suddenly felt very alone and unwanted. Running away from home, confused and upset, he found himself walking up a mountain. And why not? A mountain was as good as any... and maybe if he reached the top, he could tell his friends about it! They would be so impressed by something he'd done honestly that they would stop ignoring him. Sadly, this dream never came true, as Amity inadvertantly started a rockslide. It came on hard and fast, and quickly broke his leg. He shouted for help as loudly as he could, feeling the hopelessness build... until, completely out of nowhere, a young pegasi soared down from the sky! Together the two of them were able to free Amity from the rocks, and the pony (who identified himself as Bronze Breeze) flew him back to Fillydelphia. Amity asked him to stay around long enough to explain the situation, and the two quickly became friends. Feeling that all of the trouble, all of the pain and suffering he'd felt came back to the lies he told, and watching the expressions on everypony's faces as their eyes lit up at the telling of a true story, he made a decision. When his leg healed, he took up a job as a paperboy, delivering papers and shouting out the news to everypony who could hear him. Amity became known for his signature voice, which boomed with magic to spread the news as far as possible. Feeling that the biggest news would come from Equestria's capital, Amity moved to Canterlot and interned there as a gopher and amateur journalist, until eventually receiving a full job and his own column. Now a days he spends his time traveling Equestria, looking for the next big scoop and sharing news with everypony who hasn't heard it. He often visits his parents and family in Fillydelphia, and his friend Bronze Breeze near the Everfree Forest.
  7. Hey everyone! This is just one of the ideas I'm currently mulling around for one of my potential RP characters, but I was thinking of making a handy-man type character who also tinkers around with inventions and machines in his freetime. I am, however, curious as to how far this can go. Obviously coming up with new, groundbreaking inventions that change the way all Ponykind lives is likely out of the question, but what could be done? It seems like Equestrian technology is above that of the Middle Ages with things like ovens, recorded/playable music, and I could swear I've seen a refridgerator out there at some point. However, there are no electric lines dangling about and I don't remember seeing any wires or plugs. So... What sort of technology would be acceptable? Are electric-based items fine? Or would they run off of magic-based lightning? How far can this sort of thing go before being considered crazy? And if anyone else has already come up with this sort of character, please chime in and let me know what you've done. EDIT: Oh, and let's not forget sewing machines! They have those too. ;D
  8. Glad to see your troubles got worked out! Welcome back.
  9. Thank you all for your warm greetings. XD I just started Season 2 today. I'm done with Episode 3 and everything. :3
  10. Hey there and welcome. What exactly is it you write about? Fiction, non-fiction? Any specific topics/genres you prefer over others?
  11. Welcome to Canterlot! I especially enjoyed your picture of ponies in powered armor.
  12. Hello everyone, it's good to meet you all! I'm here going by the handle of Alar (Al-ur, not Al-arr), and I've only recently started watching MLP:FiM. I just finished the first season a few days ago and I've been listening to remixed songs and enjoying fan-created artwork for the series rather intently. I had known about MLP:FiM for some time, but I didn't give it a chance until one of my closest friends confessed that he was a Brony. Since then I've greatly enjoyed the series and have been considering joining a roleplaying community revolving around it such as Canterlot. I'm a Computer Maintenance Technician (or PC Support) and I enjoy a great deal of video games, reading, roleplaying, and fantasy in general. P.S.- I'm torn between loving Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle the most.
