  1. If it's all the same, I'd like to keep the names as they are. They just make more sense in my mind, including their masculinity/femininity.
  2. The concept is suppose to be Body One, Mind Two, and Spirit Three, but I struggled to find names that were "pony-like" to express Body and Mind. Plasma is part of your blood, so that was suppose to represent the physical life force of the body (and even though it ends in an 'a', it doesn't sound feminine to me?) Cerebral is obvious - having to do with the mind - and she would go by Cere to most. (Sair-ee). If you (or anyone!) has any suggestions as to better names, I'm all ears, but I couldn't think of better sounding words to express that concept.

  4. Thanks for answering everything! I see what you mean. It would probably be a Private RP then, and I would ask people to send me messages if they wish to join. I hope that won't discourage people from taking a look - on the other forums where I RP, having a private thread usually means that the RP owner has specific people in mind to join, and other RPers just pass over those RPs because they know they're not invited. If I made this Private, any idea if I'd be able to advertise in the Open OOC section? And yeah, I'm particularly concerned about the making up of legends and stuff. The Mane RP is suppose to follow the canon very closely, so I'm not sure if making up stuff that's not shown in the show would be allowed! And you are exactly right! I'm planning something like a treasure hunt, though I'm concerned about this falling under FFA rather than the Mane RP. I don't want alicorns and those deer-type ponies and ponies with amazing powers joining up. I guess the way I picture it is like the very first (second?) episode of the series, where the mane six head from Ponyville to Everfree forest. They're just a regular group of ponies who adventure out to find some ancient artifacts. If this can only fall under FFA, I might have to ask that only "regular" ponies apply. Like, ones that would pass in the Mane RP. OR, tweak it to make it more "Slice of life". I guess I just don't to make an RP that includes ponies running around in circles in Ponyville. I want something kinda plot-driven. Hmm. I'll have to think of an RP that would fit into a general life situation type of setting, but have a way to have some progression... Ah, thanks for all your help korok123! Even if some of your answers are refuted by an Admin, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out!
  5. My character is in the process of getting approved, but while I'm waiting, I've been thinking up RP ideas - even though I'm pretty much new to MLP. However, I'm used to RPing on a different forum and under different, less strict and more free-form rules, so I want to make sure the ideas I have in mind are allowed on Canterlot. Hope no one minds a barrage of questions! 1) I would like to have "slots" for the RP, meaning that a certain number of RPers would be able to join, and the slots would probably have 'specific but vague' attributes that the character would need to also have. So for example, I would have things like, "the protector", or "the wise storyteller", or "the timid explorer". Most would be to ensure that the RP has a good mixing of personalities, but some of them would serve a specific purpose. The group would meet the wise storyteller, for example, who would tell them about the legend or rumor which would spark up the entire RP, and then s/he would join up with the group. The protector would butt his/her nose into the group to protect the timid wanna-be explorer - possibly they're siblings. Things like that. The slots might be more vague (maybe just a personality, since I wouldn't want to limit people based on their OC's jobs) depending on how many people may or may not be interested, but you get the general idea. Is this allowed? This is done all the time on the other forums I RP, but I wanted to make sure it's okay to do this here. 2) If #1 is accepted, would such an RP fall under Open or Private? I don't have specific people in mind that I would invite to the RP (I would advertise the RP in the OOC section), so I don't think it would be private. But it also wouldn't be completely open, because people wouldn't just be able to post if they feel like it, they'd need to send me messages asking to join as one of the slots. So I really don't know. Would this fall under, [Open, PM for invite]? 3) If such an RP is "open"...are we allowed to turn down people who ask to join? I don't anticipate doing this, but I mean, I'd prefer not to have an RPer who types one sentence for each post, or who types in fragmented sentences and doesn't really use spell check. Again, this is done all the time in the other forums, to ensure that RPers are pretty much all on the same level of RPing, whether it's a low or high level. But is that allowed here? 4) I read another question saying that it was okay to make up some reasonable monsters for the purpose of RPing, like as an obstacle or confrontation. Can this be done with ponies as well? If the group needs to talk to a librarian or something, can I control a NPC pony for a while? 5) The RP I have in mind would included traveling to different areas - probably all in Greater Equestrian area, but to different towns and landmarks and such. Is this allowed? The group would move together, or if people start off in different areas, I would ask RPers to add a little section in their post, saying briefly where their pony is currently located. 6) Speaking of moving around, what are the rules of making up areas? I know the rules say that making up small landmarks is okay, but what about something like an underground cave, or a quicksand pit in a desert? Like say, the RP heads to the Everfree Forest, and along the way they discover a hidden passageway that leads them to a cave, essentially opening up an entirely new area that's inside an established canon area? 7) Same question, different subject. How about making up legends and stories? I need something that propels my character and others into starting on their adventure in the first place, and an interesting legend of an unexplored place would be just the thing for my character in particular, and probably others. Are we allowed to do things like that? They wouldn't involve important canon people and events, like the Princesses or the Mane Six. But it would be something that has either a real-world quality, like: "It is said that the notorious pirate Shiver Timbers became so paranoid in his late age, that he dug out an entire underground cave to make his final resting place. He proclaimed that no one would be able to find it, or the precious, indescribable treasure that he left behind in the world." Or, it would have a more magical quality, more of a legend or folk lore, like this: "According to the ancient scripts, the Urn of Whispering Souls is a mysterious artifact that was created to draw in any residue magic left over from unicorns who have passed on, but became lost after it was stolen by a greedy and corrupt unicorn who wanted power. Legend says that when the moon reaches its zenith one thousand years after its creation, the seal on the Urn of Whispering Souls will be broken, releasing all the magic it hoarded into the nearest unicorn. Such power would be unimaginable in the wrong hooves, and so it is perhaps for the best that the Urn will forever be lost to Equestria." Things like that. Whether or not they are true will be determined during the RP (hint: probably not, but most legends are based on some truth - or some word play). 8) Since my character is an explorer, I'd like to have the RP be centered around something like a treasure hunt. I don't want to give away too much here, but I need to ask - any thoughts on finding treasure? I'm not talking like, piles and piles of bits the would make every pony in the group filthy rich for the rest of their lives. But maybe one pile of bits, an old artifact or two (not the magical kind, more like random junk that somepony might still want to place on their shelves), and some old letters. Materialistically, is there a limit on what RPers can make ponies just find lying around? *Whew* Sorry for the huge block of questions, but I want to ask them all before I start RPing. Better safe than sorry!

Could be! A light bulb would just seal the picture, wouldn't it?

AH, I've always loved this color scheme on horse. Silver black dapple, I think it's called, but without the dapple. And yeah, I used to draw anime-ish pictures with digital coloring. I wasn't half-bad, either! But I stopped for a few years, and my art has gotten really bad again. xD; Oh, thanks for the tip Ginger Mint! I'll try drawing the ears to the side more, I hadn't really noticed that at all. I just assumed they were at the top. GAH, must pay more attention! And thank you, HighRoller! I usually have so much trouble with hairstyles, but maybe because of the clean and simple coloring of ponies, I came up with this hairstyle no problem. I like how it turned out~
  8. *Does cartwheels!* Yay, thank you so much! I can't wait until she (hopefully) gets accepted! And thank you for the compliment! I only started drawing like, a week ago, so I'm still shaky on anatomy (especially the face). But I'm slowly getting there!
  9. I hope that is a good and not a, 'you are a crazy person' . And I know we're not suppose to bump our application threads because they are assessed from the bottom up, but since my application is up near the top again, I thought I might as well share some new art of Spirit being derpy! . . . I think I like this picture better than the other one. *Much aggrieved sigh* I just can't seem to get the snout and head looking alright.
  10. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria RP Name: Spirit Trinity Sex: Female Age: Young mare Species: Pegasus Eye Color: Icy blue Coat Color: Onyx Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: White Physique: Athletic and slender Cutie Mark: White symbol of interlocking, pointed ovals, representing trinity. Origin/Residence: Born and raised in Cloudsdale, though she has taken to traveling after her graduation, searching for fun and adventure. Due to the high influx of ponies moving to Ponyville, Spirit has settled there as well, hoping that the myriad of different crowds and ponies will offer more chances to hear old legends, keep up with current news, and get the latest leads on new places to explore. Occupation: Even though she has graduated from school, Spirit's love of exploration and adventure have prevented her from settling down and finding a 'real' job. Thanks to some connections from her father, however, she is able to find the odd job creating uncommon weather effects, such as downbursts, auroras, and - her personal favorite and her best skill - pileus clouds. Because such weather and light displays rarely serve a day-to-day function, Spirit doesn't get much chance to use her skills outside of playing around and festivals. But because such effects take unique and uncommon techniques to produce, Spirit gets paid enough to live off of, even if she doesn't get those types of jobs often. Motivation: Ever since a treasure hunt her parents organized for her when she was a young filly, Spirit has retained a love of exploration and adventure, discovering the unknown and having a good time along the way. She dreams of making a legendary discovery of her own some day and going down in Equestrian history. Likes: Physical activities Creating pileus clouds Exploring Colorful accessories Parties and festivals Stormy weather Dislikes: Studying, scholarly activities Having to sit still Her coat, mane, and tail colors Being cooped up Sour green apples Working boring jobs Fears: Large bodies of water, where she might fall in and get her wings too wet to fly out. History: Like many of her pony kind, Spirit Trinity was born and raised predominantly in Cloudsdale. Her parents were the average Cloudsdale Pegasi couple, and they raised Spirit with loving and nurturing hooves. Her father hoped that Spirit would follow in his hoof steps to become a researcher of cloud phenomena, but It became apparent very early on that she was not destined for a scholarly or academic future, as she placed minimum effort in her studies and the maximum effort on having fun outside. Her school work was performed dutifully and without joy, but Spirit found one outlet that appealed to her love of color and the unknown - creating pileus clouds. Soon, she began devoting any study time to learning how to create uncommon weather effects, rather than more practical ones like rain and fog that would get her a job more easily. Her parents tried nudging Spirit in the opposite direction, but she was stubborn, and eventually they gave up and simply encouraged her. Learning how to create colorful clouds and light displays caught Spirit's attention enough to get her through school, but she never received a cutie mark until she went on an adventure set up by her parents. She soon found herself in love with exploration and adventure, and began dreaming of making legendary discoveries that would get her name written down in Equestrian history. After graduation, Spirit traveled from place to place, following up on interesting rumors and exploring a few places, but nothing panned out. Frustrated, she made her way to Ponyville, following a large migration of ponies to the rural town, in hopes of having more leads to follow up on. She set herself up in a small cottage in the town, and Ponyville is currently her new home - at least for the time being. Cutie Mark Story: Spirit was a young filly when she began experiencing a funk in school, finding no talent or inspiration in her school work. Nothing she was learning really inspired a spark inside, and Spirit began to grow discouraged with her blank flank and life in general. In an attempt to cheer her up, her parents decided to organize a treasure hunt solely for Spirit, giving her an aged map and no instructions except to follow the map to a special treasure. Spirit was overjoyed, and soon became caught up in the adventure that led her to explore a cave on the shores of Great Nimbusgait Lakes, near Cloudsdale. She ended up finding a small silver charm that was shaped in the symbol of trinity, hiding in a small chest buried beneath the sands. When she returned home, her parents praised Spirit, and told her that they knew, someday, she would discover what made her a special treasure among all other ponies. Spirit realized then that she wanted to explore and adventure all over Equestria and discover new things, fantastic things, and she received her cutie mark. It took on the trinity emblem of her charm, a physical and mental symbol of the very first adventure she ever underwent. Family: Father - Plasma Unity Mother - Cerebral Duality Nicknames: Spirit, Tri Fashion Sense: Because of her lack of natural coloring, Spirit has always harbored some jealously over exceptionally bright or colored ponies. She used to dress herself in all sorts of accessories of every color, but age has tempered some of her rebellious streak to ornament herself with the rainbow. Even still, she insists on wearing some brightly colored accessories, no matter how questionable her fashion sense is to some ponies. Spirit can still sometimes get jealous of beautifully colored ponies, but she has learned that envying and moaning over their coloring won't ever change her own. She is also never without the charm she received from her parents on the treasure hunt. More than likely, it can be spotted around her tail, attached to some other accessories. Personality: Adventurous, bold, outgoing, and not afraid to speak her mind, Spirit Trinity is a young mare who finds no reason to hold herself back. Shyness and insecurity are not a part of her vocabulary - Spirit is incredibly comfortable with herself and has no fear over other ponies' responses towards her. Self-assured and confident, Spirit can sometimes come across as bossy and demanding in her quest to get something done. Though not intentionally mean-spirited or cruel, she is strong-willed and expects others to be the same - this can cause her to be insensitive to the feelings of other ponies at times. Unfortunately, Spirit's persona isn't always backed up. Though not dumb, she is not the sharpest pony in the barn - reasoning and logistical thinking don't come naturally to her, which can leave her floundering for the correct path at times. Spirit is an athletic pony and relies more on brawn than brain, if a situation calls for one or the other. Overall, Spirit is somepony that can either be taken as abrasive and rude, or bold and confident.
  11. Wow, I wish I could draw like that. Look at that shading!!! Oh hey, quick question for anyone. What forum would I go to, to ask questions about the show and canon? I've been reading the Lore Archive things (which are amazing, by the way), but I just have a couple of questions, and I'm not exactly sure where I would go to ask things like, "do kirins exist in Equestria?" (that's just an example).
  12. Hiya! I just joined myself, but I'd like to also welcome you! This site looks like some fun, and I know I'm excited. See you on the RP floor!
  13. I can't stop watching Pinkie Pie bouncing around at the very beginning...it's hypnotic I tell you!
  14. Oh yeah, I've been looking at the application form for a good couple of days now. It all makes sense to me on paper, I'm just worried about when I apply my particular OC. But that's still in the works, and the welcomes I've received make me confident that any inconsistencies or mistakes I make won't be put down. Thanks for the links! @Rosewind: Heh, thank you! Writing is no problem for me, I've just never written anything for MLP before. And perhaps my name is familiar because I joined another MLP forum quite recently? Or, maybe you're thinking of "Esprit de Corp" on an off chance, a great band piece. *Is a band nerd*
  15. Wow. Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes! I have to say, I feel more welcome and at ease than at another site I joined. And yes, I'll probably need a lot of help with my OC application! Especially since I don't know exactly what's "acceptable" for a pony, like age, job, etc. I've been going over other applications and the MLP Wiki to get a better idea, but it's great knowing I'll be getting help. I really appreciate it!
