  1. Dusty looked at the gear everyone had brought along, feeling a tad embarrassed. He didn't have nearly as much with him. After getting Dunder to hold still, he pulled what he carried out of his vest pockets; the maps, an old brass compass, and enough food to last a day or two if he was careful about it. Out of everyone here he was definitely under-packed. His attention was drawn to the first aid kit however, which he quickly popped open. "Here, Dunder lets bind that wing properly." he said, "My eye can wait till its done.
  2. Semolina spotted the young colt crying in the corner, a sight that tugged at her heart. Slowly she walked over, giving him a gentle nuzzle, and then after a moment, a nice warm hug. She couldn't really offer any words of comfort for him, but at least she could do that much. Gently she wiped a tear away from his eye.
  3. Semolina watched with mild concern as the young colt walked off into the back room. She nodded a bit as Sigma introduced herself, before flipping the notebook to the first page, where her name was printed. -Semolina Flour- She gave Cilia and Sigma a polite smile, before slowly walking to the back, looking for the young pony. There wasn't much back there beyond storage and the stairs leading upstairs.
  4. (think we should wait for Bronynumber299?) Her ears went flat at the mention of it being horrible, blush reddening a little. Still the girl seemed genuinely apologetic, and it wasn't anything she hadn't encountered before. She shrugged a little bit and shook her head, giving an 'it's ok' sort of gesture. After giving this a little bit of time to digest she flipped back to her original message to them, a faint smile returning to her face.
  5. That question always made Semolina blush hard, a very embarrassed look crossing her face. After a moment she picked up the notepad again, flipping to a page toward the beginning, words already written on it. The page she flipped to had a handful of different phrases on it that she might end up using on a regular basis, but she pointed to one in particular near the top of the page. -My voice doesn't work. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude.- She took a deep breath and nodded a bit, trying to fight down the blush on her cheeks, always having hated confessing her problem.
  6. Dusty hadn't intended to do much more than poke at the bags before Muggo gave his warning. Still it seemed like Winter had similar thoughts to him. "Dog tags and a wedding ring?" he said, after Dunder had emptied the old bag. "Those don't seem like something one would leave behind." he mused thoughtfully. He looked over the items curiously, biting his lip a little bit when Dunder opened a pocket in Dusty's vest to pull out the maps. Still he kept quiet, thoughts returning to the discarded bag. "Hey Dunder, can I borrow your knife?" he asked. Upon receiving the blade, he proceeded to cut the bag into a handful of crude strips. "Bandages." he said. "Could probably stand to be cleaned though." the scruffy, dirty looking pony said, not catching the irony in what he said.
  7. Semolina nodded, giving a shy smile as they thanked her. It wasn't often that she ended up giving the bread directly to someone who needed it. She listened to their conversation curiously as she went about tidying up the small cafe' section, not that there was too much to clean. It seemed like the three of them were rather misfit, kind of like herself. After a little bit of thought, she pulled out her notepad and flipped it open to a blank page, before picking up a pen in her teeth and scribbling something down on the paper. Blushing a bit she picked up the notepad and set it down on the table so they could see what she had written . -do you have a place to stay?- She figured it was an honest question, the three of them had been milling about looking for food after all.
  8. Semolina blinked a little bit, looking back and forth between the two ponies.before shrugging and nodding. Turning about she opened up the door and held it open, smiling at them expectantly. Her saddlebag was a small one, only having a loaf in it that she was planning on snacking on later, or maybe feeding the ducks. other than that it was just a thick notepad and a couple of pens. Still, inside she did have some loaves that were ready to donate, and she hated to see someone go hungry like that. Heading to the back room after they entered, she brought out a couple of different ones, cutting a few slices and setting them on a tray at one of the tables, a slight blush and a shy smile on her face the whole time.
  9. (Hey, give a pony a chance to post! XD) It took a while for Semolina to pack away all the leftover breads; usually she sold them at a discount the next day, and if they didn't sell after that then she gave them away to charity. It was a win-win situation, she was helping others, and nobody really bought bread past that point anyway. Wiping her brow with a hoof she shrugged off her apron and grabbed her saddlebag, before heading for the door. Unlocking it once more she stepped outside into the cool afternoon air, taking a deep slow breath. After a moment the little white pony stepped down from the stoop and looked about. She was a little bit surprised to see a pair of ponies out front, and a gryphon, all of them seeming to be waiting or for something. Had they been waiting outside her shop this whole time? Silently(not that she could do it any other way) she berated herself for deciding to close early, It figures she would miss a couple more customers like this. At that moment the door swung closed behind her, the bell on it ringing softly and making her jump in surprise a bit.
  10. (This is just a simple RP I want to do to get my character up and about. For the most part try to stick to the Mane RP rules, but really just don't go too crazy! Open for a few people, will switch to closed when there's enough!) It was another lazy spring day in Trottingham, and a very slow afternoon for a small bakery on the outskirts of the vacation town. The air around the place was filled with the pleasant aroma of freshly baked breads, many of which were displayed in baskets in the front window. Despite the cozy appealing nature of the little shop, the place was currently empty, no customers perusing the shelves, no ponies sitting at the handful of tables enjoying a quick snack. Semolina sighed to herself, the little white earth pony sitting behind the counter, resting her chin on the countertop next to the register with a bored look plastered across her face. The slow day wasn't too much of a surprise for her; most of her business was done in the morning as ponies came in for breads or bagels for breakfast, and Trottingham's real vacation season hadn't really kicked in yet, leaving the small town fairly empty for the moment. The last customer to stop in today had been a couple hours ago, and it looked like that was going to be it for the day. With a quiet yawn and a stretch that made the joints in her back pop, she stood up and walked over to the front door. If there wasn't going to be any more business today she might as well take the afternoon off to relax and enjoy the nice weather. Looking around a bit through the glass of the door, she examined the mostly empty street before moving to flip the Open/Closed sign around. (Semolina) http://www.canterlot...na-flour-final/
  11. "Ow!" Dusty griped as that knife did it's work. "Was it really that bad?" He said, "I mean, thanks though." He followed along behind Dunder as the party moved on, keeping a watchful eye out now for anything that might come up. His ears perked a bit at the sound of Muggo's humming, It seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place the tune. Idly he made a mental note to ask him about it later on. Following Dunder around the corner, Dusty's eyes went wide, and he let out a low whistle at the sight of that cave entrance."Well. How about that." he said, walking up to the entrance and looking around inside, curiosity allowing him to forget just about everything else around him. His eyes wandered around the room slowly, taking in every facet of the geometric interior. "Oh hey, stuff." he said, spying the old bags. "maybe there's some medical gear?" He took a step into the cave, headed for the apparently abandoned camp.
  12. Dusty was a bit surprised that nobody else was doing any sort of first aid to help Dunder's injury. True he didn't know much himself, but all the same wing injuries weren't to be taken lightly. Just holding the injured wing to his side wasn't going to cut it, so the young pegasus shrugged off his vest. After giving it a couple of firm shakes to get any loose dust or dirt off of it he gave it over to Dunder. "Here, put it on over your wings, it'll at least help hold it in place. Sorry I didn't bring any bandages or anything like that." he said. "I'll admit I don't know much first aid, but its gotta better than nothing. Should probably get you to a doctor as soon as possible though." he said, blinking a few times. Part of him wished he had a mirror, his left eye felt like it was developing into a real beauty of a shiner.
  13. Dusty grunted as he pulled himself up onto the ledge after Dunder was safe. Panting for a bit he took stock of the situation, mostly checking to see if anypony else had been injured. However it seemed like Dunder was the only real casualty of this encounter. And he seemed to be doing well enough, even giving Midnight a surprise kiss, so at least he was still in decent spirits. Further examination made the pegasus felt himself get a little nauseous at the sight of Dunder's wing bending in a way that it clearly shouldn't. Shuddering a bit he looked away. His own head was starting to hurt a bit, so he glanced over himself quickly, to see if he had any other injuries he didn't know about. Luckily it seemed like the only problems were a bit of a bump where that rock had hit him, and a bruise from getting smacked across the face by Dunder's flailing wing. He could feel it swelling already, probably going to leave a black eye. Still if everypony was safe for the moment then it was good enough for him.
  14. That snapping sound. That was not a healthy sound at all. Dusty's gaze shot back down to his companions, eyes wide and pulse speeding up; this was not good at all. Dunder was in the most trouble, hanging off the edge of the cliff like that. As quickly as his wings would carry him he swooped in getting up as close behind the other pegasus as he could. Gritting his teeth for a moment, he tried to figure out the best way to grab him, before deciding to throw caution to the wind and wrapping his forelegs around the other pegasus' middle, getting a couple smacks in the face from that flapping wing in the process. WIth a grunt he lifted, his own wings beating furiously as he tried to support both their weight. Still Dusty was never a particularly strong flyer, and it took all of his effort to get the other pony's center of balance back over the cliff edge.
  15. "Duck? What?" The young pegasus asked, his train of thought entirely derailed by the unusual colloquialism. "No, no, I just thought that I thought I saw something in the distance over there, not sure what it was though. Just a glint of red." he said to Dunder, pointing toward the far mountain. "Maybe just an exposed chunk of ruby or something..." he trailed off at the clattering sound of a few rocks tumbling down the hill. "Anybody else hear- Ow!"Ears perked he had looked up just in time to catch a smaller one between the eyes. It hadn't fallen very far, but it still hurt a bit. Hastily he took to the air, wings kicking up a bit of dust as he lifted off and away from the rocks. Shaking his head to clear his vision his gaze followed up the hill, looking to see where the slide had come from.
  16. Dusty bit his lip a little bit, feeling a tad embarrassed. If there was one thing he hated, it was being useless, and knowing he wouldn't be too much good in a fight was rather frustrating. Still he set his resolve; should any sort of fight go down he'd do what he could to help rather than hinder. For the moment it didn't seem like they would run into very much trouble, so hopefully it would stay that way. Dunder giving Muggo a kiss like that definitely caught the pegasus off guard, but more just surprise than anything else. Judging by the conversation, these two were already close friends, and Dusty decided to just leave it at that. With a shrug he took up his place in the line, trotting behind Dunder as they made their way along the path. As he trotted along he took in the scenery, although he kept on shooting glances back at the mountain in the distance, where that red glint had come from.
  17. I might be interested, I've got a character awaiting approval, but I'm dying to actually use her in an RP. I'd be happy to throw her in if you'll have her!
  18. Dusty nodded, patting his vest as Dunder told him to hold onto the maps. It seemed fair enough given his talents, and being new to all of this he was receptive to any instructions. For the moment he was simply happy to be involved in such a venture to begin with. As he walked he stretched his wings a bit, part of him eager to just start flying and rush on ahead. That probably wouldn't go over too well though. When Dunder paused and turned to address the group he listened closely, shrugging a bit at the mention of fighting. What the other pegasus figured on was true. Fighting was definitely not his forte, but he'd run into trouble while wandering enough times that he wasn't completely helpless. Still he lacked any sort of formal training or combat experience, so sticking close to somepony who knew what they were doing was definitely for the best. Raising a hoof to scratch at an itch within the tangled mess that made up his mane, he spotted something out of the corner of his eye; just a brief little flicker of red way off in the distance. Still it only lasted a moment, maybe just a trick of the light, or something in his eye, so he shrugged it off as nothing.
  19. "Huh?" Dusty said absentmindedly as Winter approached him. "Oh, Just taking a look at the maps, getting a good idea of where we're going." he said. pocketing his own map and rolling up the other two. "It looks like it should be a fairly easy trip getting there. But that's provided we don't run into anything unexpected out there." he says, before hearing Dunder calling back to them. Hastily he tucked the other two maps into his vest, planning to give them back over to Dunder at the next opportunity. "I'm coming, I'm coming." He called back to the leader, picking up a trot to catch up with the rest of the group. "Already got everything I need to know for now." Looking back to Winter. "As for why I'm here? well... I'm after Adventure, that's why." he said to the other pegasus. "Oh, and I'm pretty good at navigation. Give me a map, or even some directions and I can get anywhere." he says. "How about you?"
  20. Dusty gave short a whinny and a grin of excitement as he was handed the maps, taking them carefully and looking for a place to set them down and analyze them for a few minutes. At times like this he wished he were a unicorn; being able to walk and read a map at the same time would be exceptionally useful, but then again he'd likely end up walking face-first into something sooner or later. Finally he spotted a fairly large and relatively flat outcropping of rock and trotted over to it, the rest of the group falling to the back of his mind for now. Quickly laying out both maps, He sat on his haunches and looked them over thoughtfully, eyes scanning over details and similarities between the older map and the more recent one. After a few minutes he reached into one of the many pockets of his tattered green vest and drew out a map of his own, this one older and tattered from much use, covered in creases and stains. Despite the aging it was still readable enough; a fairly large map of Equestria. It wasn't particularly detailed, but he found it useful to have on hand for when his memory failed him. Mumbling to himself to keep his thoughts organized, he began to compare the different maps, getting a decent idea of where the ruins lay. Still he'd have to get closer and actually see for himself; his personal map didn't give much information about the badlands, only a couple of landmarks that also appeared on the researcher's map. During all of this he had stopped paying attention to his companions, leaving him unaware of their chatter, or the questions directed at him and Midnight. He did however, realize they were getting further ahead than he would like, so he quickly started to pack up the maps, not wanting to fall too far behind.
  21. Dusty listened to all of this with a smile and the occasional nod. He wasn't particularly phased by the pay issue. Foolish as it may seem to other ponies, he felt that he was here for the adventure to be had, not the money to be earned. Of course having a few extra bits wouldn't really be a particularly bad thing either. He took a glance up the river and stretched a little bit, waiting for Dunder to take the lead. Since they were a mixed group it would mean moving on foot, but he didn't mind that too much; he'd traveled with earth ponies and unicorns before, and it would mean he'd get to take in the sights from a different angle. After a bit something occurred to him and he picked up the pace a little to trot alongside Dunder. "Mr. Dunder, you mentioned the researcher had discovered a map. Do we have it? Or at least a decent copy?" He asked, "If we do, I'd like to have a look at it." He figured he could glean some useful information off of it, maybe even compare it side by side to a more current map of the area.
  22. "My name's Dusty Clouds." The young pegasus replied to Dunder's question. "Though I prefer Duster, or Dusty if its easier." He says with a shrug, noting the other pegasus looking elsewhere. Following his gaze he saw an earth pony coming toward the small campsite, a mare with a green coat and yellow mane. He offered a polite smile to her as she walked up, though her terse manner of speaking took some of the enthusiasm out of it. He took a breath to introduce himself before a voice called out, in a rather thick accent. Ears perked he looked around, spotting another newcomer approaching. Still as the older stallion spoke Dusty couldn't help but crack a smile, nodding back in return and giving his name. It seemed like Muggo was more his type of pony, relaxed and friendly. Dusty listened to the banter between Dunder and Muggo, glancing around the clearing and getting himself oriented. This was a nice little spot to camp out, nice and secluded, right at the edge of fresh water... It didn't take long for him to get lost in thought, I'm really doing it, aren't I? I'm going on a real adventure... His line of thought was suddenly broken by the sound of someone laughing. Turning his attention back to his immediate surroundings the first thing to catch his eye was the newcomer, another pegasus, this time bright yellow. From the conversation it seemed like this pony also knew Dunder. He smiled back politely as Dunder began to address them, nodding in agreement. They all seemed like fairly nice ponies, easy to get along with to say the least. Dunder's last question drew his glance toward the mare, He hadn't picked up on her name either.
  23. "Shouldn't have overslept."Mumbled Dusty Clouds. Wings flapping hard as he tried to make up for lost time, his eyes were busily scanning the surroundings, taking in anything that could serve as a landmark; trees, rocky outcroppings, anything that stood out would do, cataloged in his memory for future use. Thankfully the spot itself was a fairly easy one to find, especially with the thin streamer of smoke from a campfire marking his destination. With one more glance around from this altitude he began his descent, taking a gentle spiral around the campsite before touching down a few feet from the dead campfire. "Hello!" he called to the only other pony in sight. "You Dunder Blust?" He asked. He immediately followed by introducing himself as Dusty Clouds; a name that was rather fitting of his appearance, coat and mane looking like he was covered in a fine layer of dirt and dust. He took a moment to brush his messy mane and adjust his olive colored vest, an article of clothing that had probably seen better days. He gave a slight smile to the other pegasus and offered a hoof to shake. "Sorry I'm a little behind. Overslept. Hope I didn't miss too much!"
  24. Roleplay Type:World Of Equestria/Main RP Name:Semolina Flour Sex:Female Age:Young Mare (equivalent early twenties) Species:Earth Pony Eye Color:Blue Coat Color:Plain white, a few freckles dot her cheeks. Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style:Her mane and tail are both a light golden brown color. She usually keeps her mane tied back in a braid, although there's a single lock of her hair that perpetually falls in front of her eyes. Physique:Average height, although her build is leaning more toward the thin side. Cutie Mark:A baguette, broken in half with a swirl rising up from as if to suggest a pleasant aroma. Origin/Residence:Born in Fillydelphia, She now owns and runs a small bakery in Trottingham. Occupation:Baker Motivation:Semolina simply wishes to lead a happy life as a baker; she loves sharing fresh warm food, and trying new recipes, often offering free samples to her customers. Likes: (optional) Baking (obviously) warm days, Lazy afternoons, gentle rainstorms, absolutely LOVES acoustic guitar instrumentals (seriously, she'll love you if you play for her), ponies who accept her for who she is. Dislikes: (optional) being babied/being treated different for her disability(she's mute), bugs of any sort, rude/pushy ponies, cauliflower(so bland!) Character Summary: -History – Semolina was born to a small family living on the outskirts of Fillydelphia. She had a fairly ordinary childhood, until struck by a severe illness that left her bedridden for several months. Eventually she recovered, although the illness had badly damaged her vocal chords and left her rather thin and sickly. As time went by however, she regained most of her strength, and learned how to get by without the use of her voice. After gaining her cutie mark she began to study everything she could about baking, working when she could at a local baker. Once she came of-age she set out with her savings, eventually purchasing a small bakery in Trottingham and setting up her current business. -Parents – Semolina's parents own and operate a gristmill just outside of Fillydelphia using the wind to turn wheat and other grains into flour and similar products.. They're fairly proud of their enterprising daughter, and happy to see her making a living for herself doing something she loves. -Cutie Mark Story – Her cutie mark came as the result of an attempt to see just where all the flour that her family's mill produced went. She ended up following a farmer to market, and then following the purchased flour to a bakery. After a bit of cat-and-mouse as she tried to stay hidden, she was eventually found by the baker she was watching. Much to her surprise however, the friendly baker asked if she wanted to help. Semolina spend the rest of the day working with the baker, clearly fascinated and enjoying herself. When she finally returned home covered in flour and dough, she was proud to reveal her new mark to her parents; a baguette broken in half, with a swirl of aroma over it. From that day forward she'd rush to the bakery after school to help out and learn more, eventually taking on a full time job after she graduated. -Flaws – Semolina has a bit of a short temper at times, and can get vexed rather easily if things repeatedly go wrong for her. She can sometimes be more than a little blunt, but that comes more from having a difficult time communicating with people. -Personality - Semolina is a very practical girl, but not above being a little playful once in a while. She comes across as a very quiet person, but that mostly comes from her inability to speak. As it is, she's learned to convey a lot via gestures and expressions, as well as via notes written on a pad she keeps with her for more complex messages. She can also be a rather stubborn girl; when upset or weary she tends to focus very firmly on a single goal until she's accomplished it, regardless of what obstacles might be in her way. She doesn't put too much stock in her appearance; keeping her mane braided is mostly to keep it out of the way when she works, and she has a hard time feeling comfortable in fancy clothing. -Clothing/other- Whenever she goes out in public, Semolina is almost always carrying a small saddlebag, containing a pen and notepad, for ease of communication when she needs it.
