Before i go further. I like anime. I want to enjoy it and the stories that are presented. I give any anime i'm presented a chance and will always watch it with an open mind. It's how i came to enjoy FiM, afterall. I'm not an uptight elitist that despises all anime based on it's popularity. However, i do expect appealing characters and story from my entertainment. Failing that, i will forgive a series if there is enough well paced action and/or comedy. Most of the series i speak against lack any of these four aspects, in my opinion at least. On death note: some people don't like lolicon, i happen to not like senseless sadistic murder and mind control. Yagami, THE PROTAGONIST, is an unlikeable who murders friends and family simply because he wants to show how much better he is than them. It's awful, awful stuff that should only exist in people's nightmares. And i would rather be forced to reread cupcakes over and over nonstop for the rest of my life than ever watch this again. Technically speaking, the narrative and premise are good. It's just not my cup of tea. Ah! Evangelion. The Anime that turned me from otakudom and made me decide that most anime was the biggest pile of bile to have ever graced this world. It removed my blinders, so to speak. In my mind, it is to anime what Final Fantasy VIII is to Final Fantasy's embittered fans. I can write you two essays: one on my opinions about the story and how it opened my eyes to all the awful reused cliches in anime and another one on the technical reasons, like it's faulty writing, bad pacing, editing and animation. However, i will not. Because i will end up jacking this thread if i do. Rest assured, i gave it a chance and regret it to this day. Know this: if i had watched it when it originally came out and had the means, i would have joined in the defacing and vandalism of Gainax HQ with no regrets in my conscience.

I rest my case. ---- I've never been able to call Mayazaki's work 'anime'. If most anime is factory floor assembled cookie cutter junk food, Mayazaki's work is lovely crafted chocolate chip cookies made from scratch. I just feel it's wrong to dump such high quality in with the rabble. Which is why i never mention it when people are discussing anime and only when movies in general are being discussed. --- FLCL was great, if anything, it just embraced Gainax's awful narrative skills and put them to good use. It's like a self-parody of their awfulness that's so bad, it's good. Evangelion is bad. If it didn't have the historical importance it does (it laxed censors all over the place), i would bash it until it stopped moving. Urgh... i have never watched such a blatant waste of time in my life. This is the ONLY anime i warn people away from. Death note was mentioned more than once... well, i guess if people can like Cupcakes, they can like this too. I'm just not sick enough, i guess. Now, i'm going to go watch the stuff phil suggested.

You are now my favorite. See? i foretold we where going to be best of friends. I can see into your soul. (we need a pinkie's swirly eye stare emoticon,) -- Well Phil, PSG is not to everyone's taste. So, i really don't feel the need to tell someone who has watched it to give it another chance. As for Fan Service.... If i want Fanservice, i go watch dirty sites. I like my show to be clean, unless there is a purpose to the scene in question. Fanservice is one of the reasons i have quit a LOT of anime halfway through. I hate it. (unless it's done for the lulz, like in PSG) Though there is a few shower scenes where the guys are talking about stuff and horsing around. Then you see some of their pixelated manhoods. But i didn't count it as fan service, as it had some character development to the whole thing. Most modern anime is cookie cutter, to the point i can see plot-twists a million miles before they happen. If i guess the ending in under 25 episodes, i just don't bother finishing them. I guess not everyone is cursed with the ability to see the future in the same way as me. But it does tend to ruin my experience when i'm watching an anime, they call in all of the chieftan doods from around the world because there is a threat and i go "Look at all the cool looking characters the big bad is going to kill to show how awesome he is!" and surely enough. That's exactly what happens. Do feel free to suggest anime you believe would change my opinion. I do like watching anime, it's just that i very rarely get to enjoy the stories being told. Also, those last three? definitely give them a chance. Ranma 1/2 is starting to age, so you might not enjoy it as much if you wait too long. Like DBZ It's starting to suffer from "It invented it, but someone has done it better now" syndrome. Heroman, well watch a few episodes and see if it sticks, i would compare it to megaman. Heck, there is even an analogous character to Zero. Hajime no Ippo. Give it a shot if you even remotely like boy anime. It's the best. The best, i tells ya!

Well, you quit on P&Sw/G exactly one episode before it got better. The introduction of the demon sisters actually marks the point where i began to enjoy the series as opposed to just like it. The humor is not for everyone, but then again, it was a breath of fresh air to watch an anime which wasn't about an Emo teen who has to save the world by believing in his friends or an insane person murdering other people because "the world sucks/my friend died/imma clone waaaah" Then again, i did watch a lot of simpsons, futurama, family guy and south park... which is pretty much the sort of humor they are emulating. Oh, one pieceis great. Much more watchable than the junk that is popular nowadays. Ranma 1/2 is to comedy/shipping anime what Dragonball Z is to "stare at your opponent and scream" anime. You need to watch it sometime. Oh, and i just remembered some animes that i enjoyed. There is Heroman, which stan lee worked on and is not based on any old franchise. Anything 100% new that is also good earns a million points in my book. Hajime no Ippo was godly. It's the only fighting anime where the action is fluid and somewhat realistic. And it NEVER degrades into super powered fights. Heck, the shipping is subtle on this series. What anime has subtle shipping anymore? Oh, and no fanservice. NO FANSERVICE! God, was that anime good.

I liek one piece! :B Well, i used to like it, until they decided to waste my time with over 150 episodes of nothing. I stopped watching it shortly after the series decided to expand the back story of a character that they had just killed. Seriously, maybe i would have cared more about his death if this saga about his past had come out BEFORE he died. Out of recent Anime, i have only enjoyed Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. Ranma 1/2 is my favorite anime of all time.

Have you guys seen these? They are basically blogs that are run in character, most of them answer questions you send them. Quite a few are very in character and just plain fun to read. My favorite so far is this Scootaloo. But there are plenty of these out there, and sometimes, the same character can be run by different people on separate accounts. So, if you don't like that particular person's interpretation of the Pony, you can just look for someone else. And then, there is new people like myself, who know nothing of what happened. And i'm going to hope my input isn't out of place. From the sound of things, you had the same kind of problems (though, the severity of it may differ) that i had 5 or so years ago. I've had outbursts against poor netzines who have nothing to do with my problems and have stormed out of my fair share of boards over those rough times. However, i have matured and i'm willing to bet that many of those people i stomped all over and argued with wouldn't recognize me if they saw me dropping by their boards again. So, chin up, okay? Do your best to reform, and if things go crazy again. Well, If you are honest about becoming a better person, there will always be some other place you can start anew. Changing takes time, and i'm pretty sure everyone understands that.

Well,i am obsessed with robots beating the crap out of each other. Transformers, Gundam, Megas XLR. If it has robots (and by extension, mecha), i'm willing to give it a shot (unless it has giant blue aliens that get mindjacked by humans or something. Then i don't.). And i am intrigued by this movie. From my research, it looks like it will just be a cliched "underdog trained by washed out pro" story with a side of "Father bonds with son". But i'm really hoping it will be an interesting take on it. So, i'm optimistically crossing my fingers for a good "Rocky with Robots instead of Stallone" sort of thing.

Hmmm... I was looking through a site devoted to fanart of dubious content when i began to stumble upon non dubious pictures of ponies. My thoughts at the time where as follows: "WTFBBQ? i came here for the dubious content, get this clean stuff the heck away from here!" So, some time later, i start to notice that these ponies are, indeed, everywhere. And not just on my favored site for dubious fanart. At this point i think to myself: "The art looks flash based... did someone make a flash parodying MLP or something?" So, i take a quick look around the internet and find out that there is a series. My thoughts at the moment are simply: "Whatever..." Following this, there are complaints at my favored site for dubious fanart from multiple users saying: "Why are all these clean pictures of ponies here? ban them people posting this stuff!" At this point, i decided that i needed to know why my favored site of dubiousness was being flooded by clean pictures. So, i decide on watching the show for the sake of trolling ammo. The same reason i watch terrible, yet popular, anime like deathnote and naruto. Then, the pink pony breaks into song! and all the other characters are all "WTFBBQ? she's singing?" I burst into laughter. But it is not just laughing, like when someone farts and you go 'lol'. No, this was, this was... JOY! And my heart grew three sizes larger that day. Oh, and i became a fan of Friendship is Magic. So, in short: i discovered ponies through a dirty site.

He keeps his mane short, somewhat scruffy and held away from his face with a crimson bandana. In contrast, his tail is kept long and well combed. Eye Color: light green. Physique: Slightly taller than average, somewhat muscular from pulling his cart around. Origin: Canterlot, now lives wherever he makes camp. Roleplay Type: FIM/Show Roleplay. Occupation: Firecracker travels with a small cart where he keeps his fireworks and crafting tools. He sells shows, rather than individual product, asking for a small fee to organize Firework displays for town festivities or parties. Cutie Mark: A single red firecracker with three yellow sparks around the match. Motivation: To change other ponies' lives with the beauty of fireworks. Likes: anything colorful, magic, fireworks(duh!), camping food, wild grass, rivers. Dislikes: monochrome art and objects, fire, lightning storms, rain, salt. Character summary: Firecracker's calling came when he was young, as the sky seemed to explode one day. The startling noise followed by a multitude of colors made him forget about the troubles he had been having. Whatever it was, the joy that he felt only lasted as long as the event itself, a few seconds. The young colt would then proceed to dedicate his life in a quest to recapture the magic of that day. Firecracker has been traveling for a few years now. He has yet to make a firework that replicates the lights he saw during his early years, but firmly believes that he will be able to do so when the time is right. Due to his nomadic lifestyle, the young stallion doesn't have many friends and has a certain level of social awkwardness that manifests itself in small temper tantrums when he feels mistreated. This is not to say that he isn't a friendly pony, but rather, that he tends to overreact to situations. Things of note that i have no idea as to where to put: - Firecracker carries a long pipe-like object with a soft hilt on his back. This is actually a lighter he uses on his fireworks, the button being on the hilt for him to press with his teeth. He will sometimes use it as a slapstick weapon if he's having a tantrum, but only rarely (a pegasus pony making it rain over his fireworks on purpose, and thus ruining his livelihood, may warrant it's use. But simply spilling a drink on him won't). It's pliable and thus doesn't hurt to be hit by it. It can sting a little, though. - Firecracker would love to wear his mane long, but he can't due to his work. He's already had his mane light on fire once... - Firecracker would never hand over anything more complex than a sparkler to another pony. He's too safety conscious to allow someone without proper training to handle such potentially dangerous objects. Notes: 1. I was thinking along the lines of "the kind of toy my little pony would release for boys" while making this. In short: boys like explosions, have short tempers and like weapon-like accessories packed with their dol- action figures. Now, how do we make a toy like this without making it as out of place as a g.i. Joe or Transformer. 1.a. in the same line of thought, his summary is the kind of thing you would find in the product pamphlet or back of the box. 2.It's hard to balance these concepts without feeling a little out of place, so i don't mind having to rewrite everything if it comes to that. I have never pony rped before, afterall. 3. Is it okay to have these notes in my application? 3.a. My fingers hurt from all the typing. 4. I believe there is little else i can do. I think it's finished.

-brohoofs BlindJester- Well, Diego Havoc, it has to do with my background. i have never RP'ed in a board where the show's cast existed. it's usually assumed that they are elsewhere doing more important things or, in cases like this, their home town is not available for roleplaying on. It's just what i'm used to, is all. Also, everyone knows me a little better because i kept posting on the same thread. if i had simply ran off and said "hi" to five other new guys, well... i would be very lonely. Or maybe it's just me being egocentric? Nah, can't be...

Cool, we can speak gibberish together and make people scratch their heads! It happens, staff members always have a full plate and they can't always read through a post that clearly isn't breaking any rules. I have come to see that kind of post as a compliment, as it means i haven't done anything wrong to attract their attention. Yes, i do plan to participate on the RP's. The main reason i stopped stalking, manned up and made an account. I have some previous freeform rp experience, but the overall atmosphere was more lax. Meaning that i have no idea as to how well i will transition. I primarily pen&paper, but as i have learned over time, experience gathered on that field is useless in freeform roleplaying. As a note, i am not a native english speaker, and although i take great pride in my above average mastery of the language, i do tend to type gibberish every once in a while. You guys let me know if i am not clear on something i posted.

By the way, i am NOT insane, and that is the honest truth. On the application forms is the [updated] tag used while the [wip] tag is present? or are they separate tags? should the [updated] tag include the date it was updated in? i don't see any characters with the updated tag, so there is no reference. Hello, i have been lurking for a while now. decided to take the plunge and make an account. You don't know the kind of courage i had to gather up for this. My primary interest is roleplaying, but i have little experience in the kind of heavily moderated atmosphere you have here. I'm carefully reading all the stickies i find, but feel free to step on my foot if i am ever out of line. I am the kind of guy who reads about there being a wall, sees a map of where the wall is and then, when i finally find the wall... accidentally walk straight into it. It's sad. Regardless, just saying hi before going into my account options to mess around with the settings.
