  1. Gilda watched from a safe distance as the pony secured passage on the airship. It seemed curiously normal. Asteria presented some paperwork to the guard who didn't even bat an eye. How odd. Surely this shadowy thief couldn't be transporting herself legally? Maybe the document was a skillfully made forgery. Perhaps instead the guard had been paid off in advance. it was impossible to say for sure, but it reasoned just watching the mare move that there was something dubious in it all.

After a few minutes, Gilda swooped in and met the guard. She wasn't entirely sure how to approach him, not knowing if he was on the level or not. She didn't want to make any trouble, especially not since she'd been on the wrong side of guards before. As such, she walked up to him slowly and gave a nod. "Hey. There was a pony. A unicorn. She was gonna get me passage on this thing."

The guard gave a small nod and ushered her right in without event. Gilda was somewhat surprised how easy it was. She had been expecting herself and the pony to have to do a lot of sneaking to get on board. Being able to waltz right in. There she was greeted by the sight of the passengers--a handful of ponies and a number of mostly older griffons. She supposed there wouldn't be a lot of younger griffons making use of a passenger airship. This was her first time ever getting on one. It seemed odd to use such a cumbersome thing to get around when you had wings on your back, though looking at it now, Gilda was pretty sure she understood. Using something like this, a griffon could get safely from one city to another without having to exert herself. No need to make frequent little stops to rest your wings as you tried to fly half across a continent all on your own. You could just sit and sleep on the thing if you wanted.

Gilda made her way through the ship until she saw her. She gave a nod as she approached Asteria. "Heh. Guess I'm in. I decided this would be worth my time," she said with an excited smirk.
  2. I have a few REA related characters and would be happy to use any of them:

Radiant Steel - My most used REA pony (and probably my favorite; she's also my first OC period). She is a young pegasus mare who's only been a part of the REA for about a year and just was made a corporal recently. She's very much in her own head. Highly neurotic, due in part to the frustrations of her childhood, especially needing to live up to the expectations of her father, a strict REA Major. She always over thinks things needlessly until she's perfectly in her element. Around other members of the REA, it all depends on rank. Higher ranked members she will be completely stiff and on edge around. Lower or similarly ranked soldiers, she has a tendency to be tough on; never passing up an excuse to point out what they're doing wrong. it depends on character though. If an REA pony talks to her in the right way, they might be able to have conversations with her without her assuming some kind of persona.

Steel Dagger - Radiant Steel's older brother. He's a unicorn stallion with a contrary attitude, particularly concerned with cutting his own path to the top of the REA in his own way. He's doing fairly well as, despite being fairly young he's a lieutenant. He has a real weakness for a pretty face, and tends to spend most of his time flirting with as many mares as he can--often times making a game of it--or otherwise giving the impression that he doesn't take anything at all seriously. With other members of the REA it mostly depends on gender and partly on setting. He contains himself in formal settings, such as when commanding officers are around. He is quick to flirt with female members of the guard. With males, it can play a number of ways depending on their demeanor and rank.

Alexandrite Tilt - More accurately a member of the Crystal Empire's guard, but technically still under the REA banner. Alexandrite Tilt is a crystal mare who is a champion jouster as well as a palace guard. She is eloquent, confident (in most things) and brimming with pride. She has a mature worldview but once shaken can become quite despondent. Full of confusion after the return of the Empire, she still doesn't know what to make of the outsiders, but will never let such things get in the way of duty. Alexa treats other members of the guard respectfully, She believes in good impressions and displaying class, so she does her best to always be polite and friendly when possible. For her to truly open up with someone though, the finding of some common ground is usually needed.

Midnight Brand - actually former REA; currently an adventurer of sorts. Midnight is a middle aged earth mare with a young daughter. In her REA days, she was cold and ruthless, but after her actions proved costly she started to actively distance herself from that persona. She also became a recluse of sorts, living with her daughter in the mountains, only venturing out on occasion for paid adventuring work to earn what they need with her skills. Around members of the REA, she's somewhat on edge. She can become morose and reflective. She tries to avoid it as much as possible, though doing as she does, this is not always possible.

  3. Name: Luxuria

    Gender: female

    Age: adult

    Species: changeling

Eye colour: soft pink in color; solid, no irises as per most changelings

Character colour: same dark, black-ish gray as most changelings. The area along her back is a dark red.

Mane/Tail/Other: Has a long and surprisingly lush bright pink mane and tail. She makes use of a lot of mane styles, typically chosen to suit her purposes. By default, it's worn in lose twintails tied with two small black bows. Her tail is also full and styled into a large single curl. Small holes are visible toward the ends in both the mane and tail

Physique: Luxuria's shape is comparable to a queen, with long thin legs and similarly shaped body. She is not quite as tall as a queen though, and, tellingly, her horn is much shorter, similar in size to any other changeling, though slightly straighter. Her translucent wings are just slightly above average in size, to make up for her taller frame and are a similar pink to her mane. The holes in her legs are smaller but more frequent than average and go all the way up her legs but become less common toward her torso.

    Residence: The Kingdom of Changelings

Occupation: Entertainer, agent of the Hive.

    Cutie Mark: N/A

Unique Traits: Luxuria though not a queen and far less powerful than one, has a similar figure, making her quite attractive by changeling standards. This, along with her cunning and playful personality, gives her an uncanny ability to excite and entice others in the hive, something she is not shy to use to her advantage.

While about average when it comes to offensive magics, few can match her when it comes to shape shifting. She can change quickly and with great detail to her disguises, able to even mimic fancy clothing on sight.

History: Luxuria had a fairly average upbringing in the changelings' kingdom. Throughout her youth, she didn't stand out much, either in looks or personality. She was just another changeling, only notable for being perhaps too mild-mannered, having no real desire to drain other creatures of their love.

As she approached adulthood, a sudden growth spurt ended Luxuria's days of not standing out from the hive. Suddenly she had a figure comparable to a changeling queen, which brought with it a lot of attention she hadn't gotten before. Noticing how easy it now was to get others to do as she wanted, Luxuria's genial nature also quickly corroded under the weight of her quickly ballooning ego. The young Luxuria came to the all important realization that she adored the attention of others, which lead to increasing vanity and sense of entitlement.

Entering adulthood, increasingly convinced of her own greatness, but bored of the dull and predictable changelings of the kingdom, Luxuria decided to journey and see the world beyond. Over the course of a few years, she traveled throughout Aquellia and Equestria learning how to use her shape shifting practically while also learning much of their cultures, and of course, how to acquire as much love as possible to feast upon. It was a fascinating and useful experience for her, and one that honed her gifts in numerable ways. Learning of Equestrian high fashion while in Canterlot, Luxuria found exciting new ways to customize her look while a pair of luxurious black bows she picked up then became her favorite accessories.

Luxuria in her travels, eventually heard tell of the invasion of Canterlot perpetrated by her Queen. Impressed by the bold act, she decided it was time to return home and rejoin the hive, though she brought back with her much of what she learned in her travels. She has since set herself up in the kingdom as an entertainer of sorts at a sort of changeling lounge, singing to crowds while using her shape shifting skills to create many different looks and outfits.

In time, she participated in an invasion attempt of her own under her queen, when the order was given to invade the small town of Ponyville. Through a stroke of bad luck and the perseverance of her opponents, she was overwhelmed, defeated and ultimately repelled from the town by powerful magic.

Character Summary: Luxuria is a very passionate changeling. She is not one to hesitate more than is necessary, and is good at throwing her very all into whatever it is she does. She is a cunning and intelligent changeling who is very adept at figuring out how to get what she wants and also a fairly effective leader when in a group.

Luxuria is, however, best described as a narcissist. She is overly concerned with vanity and seems to believe the world revolves around her getting her way. She is, in short, exceedingly entitled and egotistical. She has little concern for others, including and especially other changelings. In her mind, others exist only as a source to feed her ravenous hunger for love and attention.

This makes her somewhat fickle in terms of loyalty. She respects the Queen to an extent, but she resents the idea that she is just some lower changeling and at times sees herself as an equal to her. She's the type to stay loyal to the hive when it's to her benefit and flake off when things go poorly or she starts to get bored.

She is a manipulative changeling, who expects others to listen to her and do as she says. She is not normally especially violent, but being defied can cause her to become quite temperamental and vicious. Should anyone challenge her for the limelight, she is prone to intense envy and is liable to lash out relentlessly in an attempt to destroy the opposition.

Luxuria has an interest in other lands, species and cultures. She is particularly interested in clothing and fashion and other ways to make herself appear more striking and beautiful. She spends a lot of time honing her shape shifting ability so as she can quickly and accurately mimic her favorite trends and styles. She enjoys learning whatever it is she can so as to turn as many heads as possible.

As changelings go, Luxuria can also be considered fairly spirited. She hates being downcast, and seldom gets moody, going to anger and other big emotions far, far quicker than she ever goes to glum and sadness. She likes to see others having a good time too, especially if it's a result of her. She has a fondness for music due to the effects it can have on mood, and is proud of her warm singing voice.

  4. Rose is correct. We had some lore up for a while, but it grew out of date and thus out of line with the World of Equestria game which was causing repeated problems within applications. We will, in time, give revised lore on things like the guards.

When we do, both World of Equestria and Canterlot Chronicles will be essentially in line with each other and represented by the same lore in terms of structure. Of course, more will be possible for such characters in the latter game as per the rules.

For now, all I can tell you the basics of how the lore worked in the past, which is likely to inform the lore when we do rewrite it (and will, if presented appropriately, be likely to pass into the Canterlot Chronicles game). Guards are a part of a greater military group referred to as the Royal Equestrian Army (REA), which serves Equestria and the Princesses and is organized roughly like a real army, in terms of ranks and structure.

If you have any specific questions about the guard/REA, I'd be happy to field them. Alternatively, feel free to build your app as you will; the RP helper who works with you shall be able to tell you if you go against anything in any lore currently available or otherwise.

  5. Some important acronyms for Canterlot RP:

    RP = RolePlay

OC = Original Character - characters who are of your own creation as opposed to cast characters from the show

OOC = Out Of Character - posts or parts of posts that are not in character; there are forum sections to post OOC if you need to communicate with RP partners.

RPH = RolePlay Helper - Canterlot.com volunteers who help users with character applications among other duties.

SRP = Senior RolePlay Helper - Canterlot.com volunteers who help with and can stamp applications among other duties.

WoE = World of Equestria - one of our Roleplay games. Strict in terms of content allowed as it tries to emulate the feel of the show itself; applications are required.

CC = Canterlot Chroncles - one of our Roleplay games. Less strict than WoE, but applications are still required and quality RP is expected.

FFA = Free For All - Also known as Free RP. Another of our roleplay games. Anything goes here so long as it follows the site rules. No Applications are required.

Think those are most of the ones you'd see on the site though I may have forgotten some. if you have any specific ones I did not list that you are curious about, just ask. ;)
