  1. The family is the one group I wouldn't tell (well them and co-workers I suppose), but not like it matters. I don't yell my involvement in any fandom from the rooftops and FiM fandom wouldn't be any different in that regard. When it comes to fandoms, I mostly keep all that to myself during family events, they certainly wouldn't be interested and only find it all weird, so why bother?
  2. I am really digging the one on the lower right; it's the hair style, I just really like how it looks. Any story behind each of them and why they have the cutie marks they do?
  3. Ha! I am going to have to mention this to Razz (I know her and her husband), she will get a big smile out of it.
  4. I wish to see it, although I heard it was exactly as promised in the previews, lots of fighting, action, aliens, and explosions but not much else, which is fine for me. Funny thing is, there is a movie literally called Battle of Los Angeles that premiered just this last Saturday on Syfy, which is basically a rip-off of Battle: Los Angeles, which is the theater film I am assuming you are talking about.
  5. Winter Wrap Up..almost have that one memorized I have heard it enough; once I do it will be an "achievement unlocked". At of the Dress comes a close second, I never before though I would be into a song about making dresses. O_o
  6. Well I admit, this is a my innocent, silly, escape show and fandom. Normally I would only pay attention to programs or games that were thoroughly adult in story or content; and/or contained ridiculous amount of "typical" dude-fare action with guns, explosions, violence, and/or tons of cool looking vehicles. I never cared for anything like Pokemon or Sonic or Disney. Perhaps the fella in your link is right, perhaps this show allows the expression of that small "little girly part" of myself that I previously never really allowed myself to express; after all I have a little Applejack and a little Derpy on my desk, I would never thought in a million years before this I would own some MLP. These are as good excuses as any for me for being such a fan of something I otherwise wouldn't have been if I didn't sit down that first day and watched the show. Some friends and co-workers give me constant crap about being into FiM, refusing to watch and thinking "what the hell happened to him to like this", but I have learned to be alright with it, everyone deserves one little innocent escape, and this one is mine.
  7. Well that actually does sound pretty cool. If I was somewhat younger and didn't have two left feet and wasn't shy I would want to check that out, because it sounds like quite an event (I do like electronic and techno genres of music).
  8. So is this an Alice in Wonderland themed convention?
  9. I always wondered that, if that was pure accident or one of the animators just having fun.
  10. Don't feel old! Heh, I haven't seen a single person here yet that has met my age (even if I am still in my thirties).
  11. Unfortunately you cannot get them at McDonalds any longer. I did notice some at Walmart or Target, but be careful, the toys are pretty hit or miss when it comes to being close to accurately portraying the characters.
  12. Ahh, sorry, I wrote that part before I knew of the map and forgot to changed it. I suppose the idea was he was originally from very far away (hence the accent, I was actually thinking a place analogous to Scotland, really it was a plot devise more than anyplace to ever visit or anything) but then moved to the nearby countryside outside of Ponyville where ponies could start farms. If I had to pick a place on the map for a home where he emigrated from I would say somewhere in one of the smaller more isolated valleys of the Solstice Heights (where, as you say "Many of the lower class unicorns and ponies live").
  13. Oops, I guess I missed that. Well if this is a duplicate thread, admins please go ahead and delete it.
  14. First saw this through a link on Equestria Daily: Someone recently made a post on Ponychan about a very difficult situation in their life confronting an abusive stepfather for his crimes, and managed work up the courage to do it with a little help from FiM, especially Dash. What really made the story cool is Faust herself leaves a very supportive comment in the thread, very awesome indeed. ^_^ Here is the thread in question: http://www.ponychan.net/chan/pony/res/19730.html
  15. I don't think many bronies dislike Rarity, just like her a little less than the others. Personally I think her character does have a great deal of depth; yes she did get all dramatic in "Suited for Success" but that episode showed her generosity even more so, and let's face it, her friends did make it pretty much impossible for her to succeed at first (I saw the episode as a gentle ribbing at the Hasbro execs who like to make "suggestions" to the writers and "only trying to help"). The Diamond Dog episode also was a win for Rarity because she faked being all dramatic in order to manipulate the dogs into submitting to her (they did surrender all their gems in the hopes she would go).
  16. In reality likely one of the animators is a big Rainbow Dash fan and figured "hey I'll give her a bring cameo because there will be no objection to that" and put her in.
  17. "But I thooought you wanted whining!" LOL, she really did have those guys going the entire time. This episode, although not great, was pretty good and it made me like Rarity a little bit more now than before. Suited for Success is still my favorite Rarity episode, but this was fine, plus Spike asking Twilight if he could have that one moment was priceless, lol.
  18. She is there to support her friends who are they to support their siblings; not much odder than Twilight being there.
  19. Here I go, first character RP app, figure I could give FiM RP a try. Name: Carrot Fields Gender: Male Age: Stallion ( Young Adult ) Species: Earth Pony Pelt Color: Grey Mane/Tail Color & Style: Curly and red Eye Color: green Cutie Mark: A cluster of orange and green stars in the constellation of a carrot. Physique: Strong farm pony, of average size for young stallion, slightly skinnier than normal. Residence: A small carrot farm outside of Ponyville to the southwest (but born in Fet Loch) Occupation: Carrot Farmer, Amateur Stargazer Motivation: On the surface, his cutie mark represents both his family's carrot heritage, his job, and his love of the night sky. It also, though, represents his ability to pull patterns from events around him (make a constellation out of stars). So the carrot shape of the mark isn't so much a passion about carrot farming as it is about family. Likes: Astronomy; history; strong fillies; enjoys being outdoors, especially at night. Dislikes: Being ignored, left out of stuff, or alone. Ironically he is fearful of giving any sort of speech or being a salesman (sadly required when selling carrots). Wine, fancy wares and cloths as he *likes* being a simple pony. Character Summary: Th' carrot folk has a huir ay a long family history ay farmin'. We've al'ays had a way wi' the land, an' we made th' land ay Fet Loch our own. But a farmin' family is a big family, an' we ran out ay land around those parts, sae we started spreadin' it, sendin' our younger folk aff tae far off towns tae start their ain farms. Oi'm a body ay those younger folk. Ah headed aff tae Ponyville, a town wi' a strong earth-pony heritage, an' a history ay farmin' all its ain. But farmin' wasnae mah only option. Packed intae mah cart as Ah walked tae ponyville was mah telescope, fur lookin' at th' stars. Oi'd al'ays loved th' night sky. Ah kent half th' stars personally, an' th' moon al'ays seemed mah friend. Oi'd ne'er bin good wi' fillies, but th' Mare in th' Moon, she understood what it was tae be lonely. She hud al'ays bin there tae listen when Ah confided mah problems, she ne'er judged me, nae loik th' the others at school. An' her elegant profile... ah, sae bonnie. But at th' 1000th Summer Sun Celebration, she left, disappeared frae th' moon. Her profile was nae there nae more. Oi heard th' news, bout Princess Luna - but was th' Mare in th' Moon was moi sweet. Princess Luna dinnae e'en know who Oi am. ---- Annnd picture reference:
  20. Largest in the nation's history, it is even more powerful than the 1923 Great KantÅ earthquake which killed 100,000 in Japan and was an 8.3. The fact so many fewer people died is a testament to Japan's earthquake preparedness.
  21. All I could think at the time was "This is her Big Damn Hero moment", and it was 20% cooler than I hoped for.
