  1. Zecora had settled into an out of the way spot in the corner of the shop to wait while Klondike continued his work. The pony was clearly quite busy, she thought to herself, watching the latest customer, and studying his instrument with interest. She'd never seen anything like it, and was curious what sort of music it produced. She assumed the third piece of paper he had produced was a similar form for her to fill out, and was about to take the initiative to fill it out before he had a chance to ask when the crash from upstairs startled her. She craned her neck in an attempt to see what had gone on. She hoped it wasn't the poor mare's artifact that had fallen victim to the forces of gravity, she had a few priceless and irreplaceable pieces from her homeland in her hut, and the thought of losing one sent a shiver down her spine.
  2. "All I had planned was to work outside, but for friends those plans can be set aside. It's been too long since I've seen Ponyville, and I know there are many for me to meet still," Zecora smiled to herself. Pinkie Pie had made the biggest turnaround amongst her new friends. Once absolutely terrified of her, Pinkie seemed more than happy to go out of her way to ensure Zecora felt included. "Pinkie," Zecora giggled. "I've told you before, these masks are not scary, just symbols of yore. Here," Zecora walked to the door gently lifted a colorful mask from the wall beside it in her mouth, carrying it to Pinkie and leaning it against a table. "Take this one with you. When it's hung by the door only friends can pass through. I think that his spirit will suit your celebration, and I'll ensure his message isn't lost in translation." Zecora winked, she knew her culture was more than a mystery to the local ponies, and though they'd slowly come around, she knew Pinkie was right. She wasn't just a stranger in Ponyville, she was completely foreign. Any chance to turn that around was more than welcome.
  3. Y U NO KEEP FOUR WHEELS ON GROUND. This is now a motorsports thread.
  4. I love your designs, and I seriously cannot stop laughing at Bramble's special talent.
  5. Zecora heard Pinkie's approach long before the mare was even in sight, and headed back into her hut from the garden. She set aside her recently picked herbs as Pinkie made her way down the path out of the forest, and as soon as Zecora turned around, the bubbly pink mare was inches from her face spouting off one of her sugar fueled monologues. Midway through, Zecora had to stifle her giggles. "Oh Pinkie Pie, you musn't fear, though my door was open, I was still right here!" Zecora gestured to her bag, brimming with herbs and sprouts. "I was choosing things for my latest brew. It's been quite a while since I've seen that grue..." She added thoughtfully. "So it's a party you're planning? I'd love to attend!" Zecora smiled, trying to remember how long it had been since she'd had some real fun. Too long, she concluded. "I'm glad you came to see me, my friend.
  6. Sealight's ears perked up as the singing from the porch reached her. It sounded so familiar. She thought for a moment, searching her memory for where she'd heard the sound before, but it was the soft, apologetic speech that jogged her memory. "It couldn't be..." With a short canter to the door Sealight caught sight of the pink hippocamp and burst through the doorway as Tobias introduced himself. "Great Hoofbeard's ghost, it is you! Pearl!" Sealight all but leapt across the porch and nuzzled her old friend before the hippocamp had any idea what hit her. Sealight stepped back, appraising the sea mare with a quick, motherly glance. "You look wonderful dear, and you've grown so much! Oh, how is the shore? How is the lighthouse? Did that fool filly I left in charge burn her to the ground yet? What are you doing so far inland? Oh dear, did you get lost? How lucky that you got lost here! Oh my, here I go hammering you with questions." Sealight laughed and shook her mane. She and Pearl Wishes had met long ago, when the hippocamp was still a tiny filly and Sealight had only recently begun her work at the lighthouse. Through the years, their paths had crossed several times, but never before had Sealight been so happy to see the mare. "It's really good to see you, dear," Sealight drew in a deep breath, the joy she felt showing plain as day on her face.
  7. Thanks for being awesome, Meow. I'm glad you're sticking around, even though your awesome will need to be more fully devoted to non-pony life. It happens to the best of us. Also, as an aside, I want to thank the whole staff for doing everything you guys do here. This board is giant, and busy, and you make the management of it look effortless and simple. Thank you, past and present staff, for all the hard work you've put into making Canterlot the happy little corner of the internet it is.
  8. 1. Aqua Drop for Kudalyn 2. Misty and Snow for MyLittlePonyTales (holy challenge, I've never drawn perytons before) 3. Skink for Skink Batch numero uno done! Last two coming up shortly.
  9. Dellios didn't hear Cat call to him, he'd already spotted Lola and had whisked ahead of the balloon, banking around her and dropping to the ground beside her just as the balloon settled onto the ground. "I got caught up a bit in my... well, my meal, back in the desert," Dellios said rustling his wings against his back. Truth be told, he'd felt more than a little uncomfortable surrounded by ponies, unsure of how to conduct himself. He was relieved to be back in the company of another predator. "I saw the balloon from a distance and spent the entire trip trying to catch up. I had just barely caught up to you when the balloon went down, I couldn't be much help, unfortunately, but I did gather where it landed, at least." Dellios stepped aside as Lola made her introductions, before clearing his throat and slipping into the engrained protocol of introducing the newcomers. Lola may prefer to break the mold, but Del had his place in society engrained in him from birth. Beaten into him, in some cases. "This is Inkwell," he gestured to the pale unicorn first. "And his companion Cat Napper. I believe they are both artists, though I can't say I've learned much more about them."
  10. Zecora hesitated at the gate for just a moment, unsure whether or not the stallion would prefer to work in privacy. At his beckoning she entered the shop taking in the practicality of the decor. She enjoyed the open atmosphere, preferring to work in open alreas as much as possible herself. She turned toward Klondike as he spoke. "I'm happy to get a chance to see, you'll not believe the trouble this caused me." She chose a spot out of the way to watch him work, amazed at his simple efficiency. If he'd looked up from his work in her direction, he'd have seen her jaw hanging slack. She nodded as he went back into the shop, mostly for her own benefit, it seemed. Stepping forward, she lifted her hooves onto the table her wheel rested on. There was far more rust on the bands than she'd realized. With the parts laid out before her like this, the damage was far more obvious, and more extensive, than she'd realized. Zecora shook her head and dropped her hooves back to the floor. As she passed the other table on her way to the shop she inhaled the scent of the oil, trying to sift out the ingredients. She generally had a nose for these things, but this particular blend was eluding her. She puzzled over it as she made her way into the shop.
  11. DEODORANT CIGARETTE SATYR? Now you're just being silly, that doesn't even make sense.
  12. When faced with a typical vending machine though, I go for diet coke.
  13. Yesterday it was 105 where I am, and I spent most of the day outside like a lunatic. We've been having some serious thunderstorms lately, too. I think someone's giving the pegasus ponies a little too much leeway in the creativity department.
  14. "I'm so glad you like the room," Sealight began. "I'll be happy to serve salad for tonight's dinner. Do you have any pref...eren....ces...." Sealight trailed off, the hat catching her off guard. She stared for a moment, blinking hard and shaking her head to focus on Spades again. "Well, the Inn is a bit of a wayside here," the mare shrugged apologetically. "It's not a far trot to Canterlot, though, or Ponyville. The lakes are beautiful, but surprisingly there's not much in the way... of..." She trailed off again, distracted, once more, by that hat. She watched it, tilting her chin up and away slowly as it edged closer. "Pets are... fine..." Her ears flicked back, catching the faint song drifting in through the open door downstairs. She looked back over her shoulder. "I do hear something," Sealight said, wondering at her luck. Another guest already? She absolutely had chosen the perfect location for her inn if so many were dropping by on the first day. She turned back to Spades with a genuinely happy smile on her face. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm going to go see what all that is about. Take your time getting settled in, and if you'd like to join myself and Tobias we'll either be on the porch or a short walk down by the lakeside." She nodded to Spades, casting one last suspicious look at the cooing hat before turning and heading out the door. She trotted down the steps, ready to greet her latest visitor, but came to a grinding halt just above the last step. That smell! She closed her eyes, breathing deeply. Sweet ocean air, salty and cool, a hint of sand, sun, an offshore breeze. It smelled like home, and for a moment she was back at the lighthouse, out on the gallery, the wind lifting her mane from her neck as the sun set and her night's work began. "There's new work now," she said quietly to herself, squaring her shoulders and heading for the porch.
  15. Mongoose, your signature coupled with a recipe makes me all sorts of uneasy. Have a cookie recipe! Heart Attack Cookies (I forget what Paula Deen calls them) 1 18.5 oz box of chocolate cake mix (however, I have also used spice cake, yellow cake, and strawberry cake with delicious results, so i guess it's really just any sort of cake mix) 1 brick of cream cheese 1 stick of butter 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla This is easiest to do once they've sat out for a few hours beforehand, but when in need, just pop the cream cheese and butter in the microwave for 10 seconds. You want them soft, but not totally melted. Combine the cream cheese and butter (a stand mixer works best, hand mixer also awesome, if you want to work off all the calories you're about to consume, do it by hand) and blend until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla. Mix in the cake mix, and blend until the lumps are smoothed out. The dough will get very thick, and without a stand mixer it's easiest to just use your hands. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of two hours. After chilling, use an ice cream scoop to form individual cookies on a lightly (very, very lightly) greased cookie sheet. Press slightly with the back of a large spoon, and then bake at 350 for 10~15 minutes. Baking time can vary greatly depending on how large you've made them, so you should start checking after 10 minutes. Once they've flattened a bit, and the tops are cracked, they're done. They'll be more like brownies than cookies in consistency, and can be topped with powdered sugar, or (once they've fully cooled) frosting.
  16. Lump me into whichever group is in need. I draw and write, so either one suits me just fine!

  18. Could I request a drawing of Babbles? I absolutely love your style and I'd love to see how she'd look in it
  19. Skink drew me a picture!
  20. Babbles (buxy) - Afternoon and through the night, spends her nights out on the town and needs the morning to recover - If she's not scoping out the next hot nightspot or semi-stalking a celebrity to get a good story, she's waltzing to and from her office at PQ whenever she pleases, since she hardly spends any time there I'd love to get Babs out and about as much as possible, but feel awkward intruding on other's threads most of the time. PM me if you're in need of a snooty unicorn.
  21. Thank you so much for all your compliments! Me and my giant ego are going to go braid each other's hair and tell each other how awesome we both are. In the meantime, I've updated the list, and there is one slot left for this round of drawfriending.
