Parodying Real People?

This is two questions in one:

Can we make references to famous people in real life having pony equivalents in the RP? And even if we can do this, how acceptable would it be to actually make an app that is a character who is an overt reference to someone who already exists?

It's done all the time in fanfiction. I would see no problem with it. The only problems would be standardizing the names or trusting the users not to screw up so much that it's unrecognizable.

Aerosmith is Cloudsmith in some fics.

And Cloudkicker is on a drug called Cloudkicker. Now jokes aside, I think it could be a viable idea, and would love to see it.

Making reference to pony versions of real life figures is done often and is I think perfectly fine and fun for a joke. The ponies do it themselves some times in the show after all.

Actually apping characters who are direct reference to other people/characters is where you might run into issues getting approval. We seem to work on a case by case basis when it comes to such things and a number have gotten though, but we generally frown upon the idea of completely obvious, overt references in character names and the like when they can be avoided.

I would advise to go ahead and try for whatever you have in mind, but keep in mind that we may feel the need to ask for changes.
