Promontory:

Location: Appleloosa

The desert sun was at high noon as the Toast coloured stallion adjusted his western cowpony hat to make sure that Celestia's sun didn't burn his picton blue eyes. He would of prefer his train hat but since the train wasn't going to be running until he got back from this next job he had to hang it up and put on his everyday cowpony hat. He walked over to a small wooden building that blended in with the other buildings that made the town stick out like a swore thumb in the desert, but it seemed to be holding strong.

As he openend the door Promontory could smell the familiar smell of saw dust and must that came from almost all the wooden buildings here in Appleloosa. The stallion didn't mind it; in fact it was much more enjoyable then the smell of the cities like Manehattan, Balitmare, or Hoofington. Still like most ponies who worked on the rails, he had to take up other jobs every now and then when the trains were a bit slow. Luckily, this job happen to connect with his normal job so he could kill two birds with one stone. As he walked in he noticed a fellow stallion reading over a list with a sign next to him that mentioned the Celestial Gem collection. Promontory went over looking at the fellow stallion.

"'Cuse me. Is this here where we chek in fer ta Gem collectin?"

Promontory asked making sure to take his cowpony hat off to show at least some respect. The stallion looked down from the list look Promontory over with a lazy eye. After a minute of silence the Stallion looked back to the list.

"eyup. name?"

He said in a dull tone.

"Promontory."

The toast coloured stallion replied as he kicked his whooves not exactly sure what to do.

"Right, here ya'll are. Fer now jus relax in ta lobby till da others show up."

He said as he pointed a hoof over to some dusty couches near an open pit fire in the middle. Promontory dipped his head to show he was thankful as he walked over and sat down on one of the musty couches as he waited for the other ponies to arrive.

Consonance eyed the small building, checking the paper that was levitating in front of him. Celestial Gem Collection in Appleoosa! All are welcome to participate. he read, smiling. He always enjoyed social gatherings; mostly festivals and the like, but this was close enough. He stepped through the door of the building, taking in the scent of saw dust and musk. It was a new smell for Consonance, so he took it in stride and breathed deep. He noticed two or three other ponies; taking note of one that was reading a list. He trotted on over, a calm smile over his face.

"Tidings. Is this where we check in?" he asked, smiling. His accent was something odd; It sounded like a Canterlot accent, though with a slightly sing-songy lilt. Furthermore he looked like he belonged to a very rural area, and even his word choice seemed odd; Old fashioned, even. The other stallion made a grunt which Cons took for a 'yes'. "Name?" the Stallion asked, obviously bored. "I am Consonance." the dirt-brown stallion replied. He gave a smile as the list-checker or whatever he was gestured toward an open-pit fireplace. "Y'all can just go sit in ta lobby until every pony is here." he drawled, going back over the list which he had probably ready three times over. Consonance nodded and moved over to the fireplace, taking his seat upon an old leather chair across from one of the other participants. Consonance smiled at the other stallion; a toast-colored stallion. "Tidings! I assume you're here for the collecting?" he said, using magic to unstrap his modified saddlebag. He gently set it down beside him, though there wasn't much room with his Shire-esque form taking up the seat.

Promontory:

Promontory had moved his Cowpony hat down over his eyes as he waited on the other ponies to show up. He expected mostly western ponies like himself to show up since it had only been advertised in saloons where ponies like him self went. Still, he heard a pony with an odd accent ask him if he was going on the gem collection as well. He flicked up his cow pony hat to see in front of him was a brown and dirty blond pony with a bit of a shire build like his own was sitting parallel to him.

"Guess he some cidy slicker 'er somthin' Lookin fer adventure."

Promontory thought as he looked to see the odd saddle bag with him. Promontory could tell that one half was a normal bag but the other was carrying something that Promontory had no idea. It was to small to be a guitar but to odd shaped to be a fiddle making Promontory raise an eyebrow at the fellow pony.

"Depends on who ya'll are?"

Promontory finally stated bluntly. Promontory had never worked with a Unicorn nor were they common to see in the west making the Earth Pony a bit suspicious of why he was here.

Consonance smiled, lifting off his hat in greeting. "I am Consonance." he said simply. "Storyteller and artisan extraordinaire." he added with a smile. "Not really, of course. Just plain old Consonance." he gave another light smile, placing his hat gently back over his horn and upon his messy hair. Consonance could see the questioning in the earth pony's eyes, causing his fade to smile. "I assure you I'm here with good intentions; I realise it's not ev'ry day you see a Unicorn around this area." he pressed.

Following the stallion's gaze, and grinned as it landed upon Concentus; his Mandolin. "I'm guessing you've never layed eye upon an instrument like this?" he asked, magically opening the case and pulling the mandolin out. He held it in the air infront of him, minding the fire as the light licked over the mandolin's laquered surface.

Page Turner paused at the door, making sure it was the correct building before going in. Satisfied it was the place indicated by the notice in the saloon, he pushed his hat back and strolled in. There were several ponies inside, but he was immediately drawn to the one looking at some sort of list with a bored expression. Page tilted his hat forward in greeting, but the stallion in front of him didn't respond.

"Is this for the gem collection?" he asked, glancing around the room.

The other pony nodded once, but Page's attention was already elsewhere There were two other stallions sitting down, looking at something the unicorn was holding. Page leaned to the side to try and get a better view of the object, but they were facing the fire, preventing him from seeing what was so interesting.

"Name?"

Page whipped his head back to look at the pony in front of him.

"Oh, Sorry. Page Turner."

Before anything else could be said, Page was already trotting over to the ponies in front of the fire pit. Now that the couches weren't in the way, he could see that the object of interest was a stringed instrument of some sort. A mandolin if he wasn't mistaken. Page smiled and tilled his hat before sitting down on one of the couches.

Promontory:

Promontory watched as the unicorn undid his bag to reveal a small stringed instrument. The main part was extremely rounded and the neck was shorter then a guitar but had the familiar frets. The Earth Pony though still didn't have a clue what the instrument was since he had never studied instruments or come across them when looking up information on trail routes when running on the rails.

"Well as long as ya'll don' slow us down wid id then more power ta ya'll."

Promontory replied as he noticed another earth pony walk up. He was a built shorter then the Train pony and had on yellow lemon glasses that contrasted with his tan coat and hat. Promontory assumed that the new pony was also part of the gem collection making Promontory simple just acknowledge his existence with a simple stare down like what he had done to Consonance.

" Welp, Looks lahke ah gots me a cidy slicker 'n some bookpony fer mah partners. Ah'm gonna need ta probably stock up on extra goods when 'er goin through ta desert."

Promontory thought as he looked up at the clock. It was just about 9 making Promontory look over to the door then back to his new team mates.

" 'ight den listen up. Ya'll as well migh' get ta know each other. Were packin' up 'n headin' out 'n 30 ta ged supplies then headin' auwt ta da desert ba 10 so we ain roastin' under Celestia's sun to much."

He said looking at the two Ponies using a bit of a rough southern drawl.

"If 'n yer havin' second thoughts nauws ta time ta leave."

Promontory said with a bit of an attitude forgetting that these other ponies weren't raised like he was on the tracks to be aggressive and rough towards most ponies and to be serious on the job all the time. Still the Earth pony simple then flicked his hat down as he waited for the time to slip away and for the group to begin setting out.

Consonance stood up, a verdant green glow surrounding the mandolin as it fitted itself back within its case. Soon enough the glow encased the saddlebag modification and the entire thing was hoisted onto Consonance's large figure, straps being tugged snugly to his shire-esque body. With a roll of his shoulders and a smile, he took his place next to Promontory, making sure to leave a bit of space. The two certainly did take up quite some space. Listening again to Promontory, Cons gave a solid nod. "Makes sense." he mused. This was sure to be an interesting expedition. "I'm ready whenever."

Promontory:

Promontory simple let out a small snort when Consonance mentioned he was ready when ever he was as he flipped his cowpony hat back down as he waited for the minutes to tick by.

Finally the hands on the clock slide into the 9:30 position and let out a dull clunky gong saying that the half hour was up. Promontory looked to see if anypony else had shown. As he looked around he noticed that the pony with the yellow glasses had left bringing the party down from three to now simple two.

" Welp ah guess dis h'er 's gonna be id."

Promontory thought as he lazily swung his large body off the couch cracking his neck to release the pressure in that had built up from laying on the musty couches.

"com'n fiddle pony. Tahme 's a wastin'."

Promotnory said as he walked over to the counter from before to find the pony from before still lazily looking over the papers.

"Ah, guess dis h'er is ev'erpony. will be takin' ta upfront supply pay if ya kindle."

Promontory said in a bit of a dull tone that suggested that the toast colored stallion was more thinking about what he was going to need to buy in order to survive the desert trip.

"here ya go."

The pony replied as he lazily tossed to two pouches filled with a small amount of bits. Promontory caught them both and again did his familiar head bow before walking over to Consonance and tossed the extra bag over to him.

"H'er fiddle pony. Ya'll 'r gonna need dat ta buy yer part the supplies. By da way mah names Promontory 'n don' ferget."

He said in his familiar gruff southern drawl as he opened up the pouch to reveal that there was 50 golden bits.

"Horse fiddles. Ain' no where near 'nough ta ged prop'er supplies. Guess I'm imprahvisin'."

Promontory thought as he begin to think what he could get cheap in Appleloosa and what could serve for multiple purposes. As the Pony began to think he began to make his way for the door not really checking to see if Consonance was following.

As Promontory pushed open the door to the streets of Applelossa he could already start to feel the heat starting to rise making Promontory let out a slight sigh.

" Ah'm headed 'ver ta da food market f'irst ya'll can follow if ya feel like id."

Promontory said aloud not looking back to see if Consonance was actually behind him or if he was just talking to the wind.

Consonance watched the toast coloured stallion make his way to the 'registry' pony and obtain two small pouches. As he came back, one was tossed to Consonance, who quickly caught it between his teeth. No sooner than had he caught it that it was enveloped in his usual auric glow and slipped into his saddlebag. A smile crossed Cons' face as 'Fiddle Pony' escaped his partner's lips again, rather enjoying the incorrect instrument nickname. He supposed it was better than Consonant. He chuckled. "Hah, I'm rather bad at forgetting names, so there shan't be any worry about that happening anytime soon."

Noticing his friend make his way to the door, Cons quickly paced his way to join his friend at his size, though indeed far enough backwards to be a bit from sight. "Food market, eh? Sounds good to me, Promontory." Cons' said happily, his voice that smooth sort of bass.

Promontory:

Promontory rolled his eyes a bit when heard Consonance agree to follow in his hoof steps.

"Cidy ponies"

Promontory muttered under his breath as he headed towards the food market area of Appleloosa. It didn't take long until Promontory spotted his preferred market. To call it a market was a bit of an over statement. It was mainly a small outdoor vendor who had a random supply of goods. As Promontory got close to it he walked passed the fresh fruits and veggies and started to look at the dried apple chips and hay chips that were a few days old and starting to turn hard from the open air.

"These 'er look fai'erly lahght."

Promontory thought as he grabbed a few pounds of apple and hay chips and threw them into his own saddle bag. The vender looked at Promontory who tossed him a few bits while still looking over the remaining foods. Not much seemed to catch his eye until he noticed that the Vendor was selling dried habaneros.

"...Well, Well; dis 'er mah lucky day."

Promontory said with a smile as he grabbed a full vine of the dried chiles and placed them in his backpack and again tossed some bits over to the vender. The vender gave him a bit of an odd look for buying something so hot while in the dessert but gave a shrug as he pocketed the bits.

Promontory then looked into his potch to see how much he had left.

"'les see h'er 35 bits. 'nough ta ged me some water, fahre material, an' a poncho.

Promontory said to himself as he tightened the draw string on the bit bag as he turned to see what Consonance was buying.

Razor loved the desert. It reminded him so much of home, the arid landscape and jagged rocky outcroppings. It was the place for a powerful griffon to show his skills and abilities. Just the place to prove to anypny or griffon that he was a griffon on high standing.

But the most important reason he was here was to the gem hunting going on, or at least bringing the gems back to this town. Applesnooza he think it was called. That was adventure, him against the untamed wilds and other dangers out to get the gems. It was a good challange to prove himself, and if he managed to make any money off of it....well all the better. He hoped he made some money off of it.

"But thats not important," Razor said as he headed for the registration office, "once this is done I'll prove to anyone that I am a superior griffon and I'll finally get a girlfriend!"

Razor stood prideful and confident.....for about two seconds before he realized that he was still standing in public. Blushing in embaressment he quickly flew off to the registration office. Entering the building he flew on over to the desk, snarling slightly that only his head would be in view.

'Curses.' He thought.

"Hey buddy sign me up." Razor said.

Consonance kept his calm smile, looking about at the vendor's goods. Noticing the apple chips, he gave a light smile. He always loved apples. "These'll do nicely, friend." he said happily to the vendor, levitating some bits over to him whilst he levitated a good amount of chips into his pack. He surveyed the rest of the goods, not finding much that would be nutritious and tasty. Finally deciding on some dried carrots--both "baby" and regular--he said with an enthusiastic tone, "And these, if you will." Though he had already begun to bring both the carrots to himself and the bits to the vendor. He was happy with his purchases. Making sure he had a good amount of both items, he checked his pouch.

"Hmm....32 Bits. I'm sure that'll get me a good supply of water, don't you think?" he asked of Promontory, turning his head towards the Earth Pony. "I've only been two Appleoosa once or twice--would you mind escorting me to the nearest general goods vendor?" he asked with a sheepish grin--something that wasn't common with him. "If you don't mind, of course.." he added quickly onto the end.

Something caught the corner of his eye: A brief glimpse of something moving through the air. He did a quick double take and saw that it was a griffon that was entering the saloon they had just come from. He shrugged it off and returned his attention to Promontory.

Promontory:

Promontory raised a questioning eyebrow at Consonance when he asked to be escorted to the next generally store. However Promontory quickly shrugged off the comment and motioned his head in the direction of the next store.

"Fahne. C'omon den."

Promontory said as he started to walk through the dusty streets of Appleloosa again. The general store was only a few feet down the road but instead of being an outside stall like Promontory's preferred food venue, it was an actually building. Promontory walked letting the door greet him with the sound of some small bells hooked to the door. Just like the building before the general store had the smell of saw dust and must.

"Get whad ya lahke 'n quick 'bout id fiddle pony."

Promontory said to Consonance again forgetting that he wasn't talking to another train pony. He toast colored stallion then walked in straight to the camping supplies. They had a small verity of goods but the Earth pony looked passed it until he found the few things he was looking for. There near the corner of the supplies was an old looking lantern, some enchanted wood that could be re-burned a certain number of times, and a western style poncho. He picked them up and started to head towards the front. As he got to the counter he set the stuff onto it and looked at the cashier.

" an' a canteen with 8 refills."

He said gruffly as he tossed his bits onto the counter. The cashier quickly took the bits and counted them up to make sure there was enough. After a few moments of silence the cashier pushed a few buttons on the registar to make the door pop open as the bits were pushed into the draw.

Promontory then opened his saddle bag and tossed in water and fire supplies while hanging the lantern on the side of his saddle pack. He then slipped on the western poncho making sure that his bandana was on the out side of it just encase a sand storm suddenly showed up and he needed it to protect his muzzle. As Promontory finished packing himself up he noticed the cashier hand back his bit bag.

"Thanks."

Promontory said as he grabbed it and opened it. Surprisingly there was still 3 bits left in his bag.

"Well ah guess ah can spen' dem when ah ged back."

Promontory thought as he again opened his saddle bag and tossed them in. Promontory walked over by the door and waited on Consonance to make his selection.

Registration pony:

The registration pony was starting to pack up when suddenly he heard a voice. he looked around for a moment until he looked down to see that a griffin head was talking to him.

"excuse me?"

He asked double checking to make sure he heard the small Griffin correctly.

Razor smirked, "Hearing bad? Sign me up for the gem thing. It's that simple, so just....do it."

Razor was starting to get excited, oh he just loved doing possible dangerous stuff. He was a pure adrenaline addict. Marathon flying races across the map through rough terrain were his usual hobbies, but he was looking for something different to add to his list.

"So tell me is this thing dangerous? I hope it is, I love a little danger." Razor said, hopping up and down. Such excitement would not be normally seen in the griffon, but this was a completly different matter.

Pleasant 'Cheery' Flurries could be conisdered a very hard working mare, because every day she would get up with a smile and work at her ice cream shop. Now, that was fine and all, but sometimes a pony could use a little... change in their life. Mabye some... adventure. That's when Cheery found out about the Celestial Gems from one of her customers, and since she was relatively new to the small town, she never knew about these jewels and the expeditions that were had to mine them. She was also told where to sign up for this expedition. Thinking it would be a nice change of pace from her daily life, and it might also be really fun, the next day she threw on her saddle bags, packed a few water canteens and apples, and made her way towards the building that she was told to go to.

Cheery made her way up to the wooden building, recalling that she had passed this building many times, but never bothered to check inside.

Quite a nice little building, if you ask me! Wonder who I have to talk to to sign up. Oh well, I'll figure it out somehow.

Cheery walked up to the building and opened the door, which squeaked slightly as she passed through. She looked on and saw a gruff, older pony up at a counter right next to what seemed to be a griffin. Getting a better look at the two characters, she remembered seeing the griffin somewhere before...

Wait, is that really...?

Right away Cheery recognized the griffin named Razor, who she met one time in her quaint little ice cream store one time. She became incredibly excited to see one of her customers here of all places, going on a gem hunt with her! Before she could stop herself, she ran up to Razor and gave him one of her signature hugs with a huge grin on her face.

"Oh my gosh, hi again Razor! Remember me? You came to my ice cream shop before! I can't believe this, one of my super best friends are here to go on this fun gem hunt! Oh, we have so much to catch up on!"

Cheery than removed herself from Razor, blushing a bit. She remembered from past experiences that the griffin didn't like to be hugged.

"Oops, sorry about that. Forgot you didn't like that. I'm just soooo happy to see you! Anyway, what are you doing here? Did you here about this fun gem hunt too?"

Cheery was so caught up with seeing one of her customers, that she completely forgot about the other pony, waiting for them to sign up for the gem expedition so he could get on with his day.

Registration Pony:

When The griffin repeated himself the registration pony still had to let the idea sink into his head.

"Well you look a little young, but I guess your parents already agreed to let you go if you that excited on signing up."

The pony said as he grabbed a quick form from his pack and quickly scribbled down some notes on the Griffin. As he did he grabbed another bit pouch and tossed it to the Griffin.

"Here ya go. Just sign Dis an you can go catch up ta the others. There probably still in town somewhere can't miss them. Ones a unicorn and the other is western blooded pony with a heavy drawl."

The Pony said as he looked up to see a young mare come in and straight up to where the Griffin was. She seemed to know the fellow so the Registration pony simple rolled his eyes and continued to pack up pulling out another pouch of bits and a form again quickly writing down the basic information that he had down with the Griffin.

"Uh Ma'am not ta intrude on yer reunion but 'f you're going on Dis job you gonna need ta sign Dis and go catch up wid da other two.

He said as he tapped the table where the last few remaining things were.

"Young!?! I'm an adult!" Razor shouted as he grabbed the registration paper from the pony and signed his name.

'Young? Little!?! Puny!??! How dare he!' He thought as he signed and slapped the paper down on the desk, "Here."

Razor hated being refered as short or a child due to his size. Hated it with a passion!

Suddenly Razor found himself, being wrapped up into a hug that slowly was suffocating him. When he looked he began to blush immediatly as he saw...what was her name? Cheery? That was it, Cheery hugging him. A girl was hugging him! Razor was starting to panic, what did he do in situation like this? What's more did he risk vital oxygen to say hello?

"Trouble.....breathing." Razor said, gasping for air when Cheey let him go.

"Cheery*gasps of air* don't*gasp of air* do that." Razor said, "*One final deep breath of air* as to what I'm doing, I'm signing up for this gem hunting thing. I figured a treck across the desert carrying valuable gems through possibly hostile terrain was just what I needed. I love a challange. Since you're here.....you must be signing up as well...."

Cheery couldn't be happier to see Razor at the gem expedition sign-up, and to be joining in the fun! Cheery had held a huge grin on her face while Razor told her why he was there. Well... at least she tried to, but she normally tends to forget key points in conversations. Like, for example, 'possibly hostile terrain' just flew right by her. I mean, what danger is there for just silly old gem hunt out in a harmless desert? Even though she was kept in a relatively safe place like Canterlot and didn't know a lot about Appleloosa's outskirts, she was sure of the limited amount of 'hostile terrain'.

"Oh yes, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to get out for a bit and join in a friendly gem hunt! This will be so much fun, are you excited as I am, Razor? This will be great! And it will give us a chance to be the best of friends!"

Before Cheery could continue with her high powered conversation with the griffin, the registration pony spoke up. Completely forgetting about him, Cheery ran over and shook the older ponies hoof, swinging it up and down at a comically high speed.

"Oh, I'm so sorry to not take notice of you before and introduce myself! How unlike me! Well anyway, my name is Pleasant Flurries, but you can just call me Cheery! What's your name? I'm just dying to know!"

Cheery then batted her eyelashes a bit, for no real good reason. Perhaps she did it to be more friendly? Anyway, Cheery let go of the registration pony's hoof and levitated the sign up sheet and a quill with her magic.

"Oh, and let's not forget about this! Hmm, should I put my whole name down or just my first name? Or mabye my nickname only? Or mabye just a Miss Flurries will do..."

Cheery looked at the registration pony, unsure of what to put down as her name. Doesn't hurt to make sure she's doing it right, right? After all, her mother always told her to ask questions so she knows the answers for later!

Cons moved quickly through the store, eying many of it's wares. He halted on a rather bland desert quilt, holding it in his hooves. He held it for a few moments before nodding his approval, before he tossed it onto his back. He moved on to other things. Consonance levitated an empty cantine around his neck, letting it hang unceremoniously. "I suppose this is sufficient." he thought to himself, walking over to the counter. He deposited his bag'o'bits onto the counter and gave a curt nod. "Eight refills, if you will." Consonance asked kindly, placing his cantina on the counter.

He waited as the cashier pony filled his cantina and what-not. Consonance took a moment to look around the store. It wasn't that bad of a building, even if it's a little small. "Here'ya go." the Cashier's voice said, breaking Cons from his stupor. "Ah, yes, of course." Consonance turned back around. With a little bit of levitation, he slipped the cantina back around his neck to let it rest. "Keep the rest, friend." he said with a smile. Without waiting for a response he returned to Promontory and nodded at him, a silent sign that he was done.

Promontory:

When Consonance came over to Promontory that he was ready to go Promontory took one last mental check to make sure he had not forgot to buy anything.

"less see.....got da wood...wader...poncho...food...ladern....madches. Dang nabit hauw could ah fer'ged dem?!"

Promontory thought as he went back over to the counter and put down his three remaining bits.

"Madches."

He stated bluntly to the cashier pony who tossed him a pack while taking the remaining bits and putting them into the register. Promontory then turned right around and headed for the door where Consonance was waiting for him.

"'er aye was hoppin' ta ged ah drink when dis 'ear job was done."

Promontory thought as he made his way out onto the main streets again. As he looked at the town clock it hands pointed to about 9:55.

"Welp, w'er god a bit mo'er time den ah figur'ed. Ya'll need ta go anywhere fiddle pony?"[

Promontory said as he looked back to Consonance.

Register pony:

When the mare began asking the registration pony about him and shaking his hoof wildly he had to take minute to adjust.

"ma'am I'm jus' the registration pony. I ain' goin on the trip. An all ya need ta do sign however ya sign your name and skedaddle. the oth'er two ponies who are 'n dis trip already left 'bout half 'n hour go an ya'll need ta catch up ta them an let'em know ya joinin'."

He replied as he put Razors papers away and gave a small bag of bits to the mare to buy some supplies with while he waited for her to make the last few marks on the registration forum.

Razor nodded, "Right, thanks for the tip. I guess I'll go find them first since I'm already registered. See you then Cherry."

Razor ran out the door and took off, flying off to find the other participants even though he didn't know them or what they looked like. Still Razor figured they would probably be ponies with lots of travel supplies as simple logic would say that was what one needed on a long trip. He eventually spotted a duo of ponies that matched that description and dived down from the sky, landing right next to them with a dust cloud following his perfect impact.

"Just so I am sure in my assumptions, I'm guessing you two are the other contestents for the gem hunt thingy? Right?" Razor asked.

After she had introduced herself, Cheery had bid Razor a farewell as he was going out to find the other ponies who were going with them. She promised to meet back up with him when she was done with everything she needed. Afterwards, Cheery turned back to the registration pony with a grin, listening into the registration pony's answer with glee at the thought of possibly getting a new friend and equally as excited to meet other ponies going on this fun little gem hunt. Cheery was then a little taken aback by his response, but quickly came to understand his words. He was just doing his job, and it wasn't too common where she would find a pony who was like her, always chatting up a storm and being friendly to other ponies. Mabye this guy wasn't that kind of pony. Cheery could respect that, so she went ahead and decided to move things along, while still holding her personality.

"Well why didn't you say so, silly? I can't let you stay here waiting for my signature, that would be rude of me!"

Without further ado, Cheery snatched up the paper and a quill and quickly scribbled her name on it. After she was done, she handed it back along with a smaller piece of paper and another hoof shake.

"Well it was reeeeeeaaally nice to meet you Mister, and if you ever need to cool down and have some creamy, ice creamy goodness, come by my ice cream shop! My card is with the registration sheet with the location! Have a Cheery day and I hope you stop by!"

And with that, Cheery trotted out of the building with her bits, and decided on where to go next. She looked to her side and took note of what she brought with her from her house/store, talking to herself as she planned out her moves.

"Hmm, two canteens of water, a map of Equestria, my mane brush, a couple apples for snacking, and one of my mini portable enchanted fans. Do I need anything else?"

Cheery noted to herself that the map of Equestria wasn't too convinient, and wasn't detailed when it came to the Painted Pinto Desert. Mabye she would get a more proper one, and mabye a set of binoculars? As it was apparent, Cheery wasn't too familiar with expeditions, and never really read any adventure novels that could highlight important tools needed on a journey.

Deciding that she already had enough as it is, and thinking that the ponies running this thing might give some more supplies, Cheery began her trek towards the general store, not entirely sure where she would get a map of the desert and a pair of binoculars. Entering the store, she trotted up to the cashier pony asking for a map and binoculars, all the while using her charm to befriend the pony. Amazingly enough, they did carry a simple map of the desert and some cheap binoculars, and Cheery paid with the bits she got from the registration pony. Thanking the cashier, she trotted out of the store and decided to go find Razor and the other ponies going on the trip, and instantly put on a huge grin, overjoyed to be able to know the ponies who were going along with her on this gem hunt.

After trotting around Appleloosa for a few minutes, she then saw Razor, who wasn't too hard to pick apart from the crowd. I mean, how many griffons can you normally find in a small, western town anyway? Cheery didn't know, but what she did know was that she had some new friends to make, as Razor was also with the rest of the gem hunt group.

Cheery trotted up to Razor and the two ponies and greeted the ponies with a crazy, high-powered hoof shake, along with a super hug to the pony in the green cowboy hat, and a wave to Razor.

"If I'm right, in which sometimes im not but I'm pretty sure I am right now, you two are part of the fun gem hunt today! I'm going as well! It's sooooo nice to meet you! My name is Pleasant Flurries, but I prefer Cheery for reasons that would be too long to say. You might have heard of me from an insanely popular ice cream shop around here, I mean, I'm pretty sure everypony in Appleloosa has been there, not meaning to brag or anything."

Cheery then flipped her mane with a hoof, rolling her eyes as if it was no big deal, but on the inside, it really meant a lot to her how many ponies showed up to her door every buisness day to buy ice cream from her. It made her feel happy to accomplish something like that every day, and made her feel lucky.

Cons walked alongside Promontory with a smile, stopping as the other pony rushed back towards the counter. Upon returning with the desired yet forgotten item -- matches, it seemed -, Cons grinned, listening once more to his friends words.

"I don't think I require anything else, seeing how I've gotten all I could ask for." he stated calmly, doing a mental checklist as he spoke. He noticed something in the sky fly towards them which seemed to dive down straight at them. Being one to have his interest piqued, he waited as a small griffon landed close to both Promontory and himself.

"Just so I am sure in my assumptions, I'm guessing you two are the other contestents for the gem hunt thingy? Right?" the Griffon asked. Consonance smiled and gave a hearty nod, doffing his hat in greeting. "Your assumption would be correct, my small friend." he assured, placing his hat back upon his head. He was quite thrilled to have somepony--or griffon, rather--that could further expand his knowledge. Joyous days indeed.

After finishing his greetings to the griffon, he noticed a blue-coated pony approaching them, her gaze (from what he could tell) leading to the griffon. The finality of her intent was revealed as she finally reached the now trio. "If I'm right, in which sometimes im not but I'm pretty sure I am right now, you two are part of the fun gem hunt today! I'm going as well! It's sooooo nice to meet you! You might have heard of me from an insanely popular ice cream shop around here, I mean, I'm pretty sure everypony in Appleloosa has been there, not meaning to brag or anything." she obviously had a lot of energy. This would be a fun trip indeed.

"Well, Miss Cheery, it's a pleasure to have you join us." he doffed his hat once more. "And I'll be sure to purchase some Ice Cream from your store once this is all done and over, haha." he nodded, looking once more over the group.

Promontory:

When Consonance mentioned that he was ready to go Promontory simple nodded his head and began to take a step when suddenly a small Griffin dropped down in front of them asking if they were also going on the Gem trip as well. As Consonance mentioned that they were Promontory just nodded indicating that what the Unicorn had mentioned was true.

" Welp....ah suppose dis 'er griffin migh be sum help fer bandids."

Promontory thought until he felt somepony grab his hoof and shake it violently up and down making the large Erth stallion eyes rattle a bit in his head. As Promontory recovered from the hoof shake he saw a sky blue mare hugging Consonance and mentioning how much fun this trip was going to be.

"Fun? Dis 'er trip ain' fun liddle missy. W'er goin 'n ta pinto desert where who knows whud w'er gonna find. Id ain' no place fer a mare like ya'll self ta be."

He snorted out as he took a step onto the main road that would lead them out to the desert.

"Wah don' ya'll head back ta yer ice cream stand while ya still god da chance."

He continued towards Cherry as he waited for the others to follow in suite

Razor twitched at the most evil, terrible, anger inducing word to him in the world. Small. He ground his beak, and dug his claws into the ground as he fought the urge to lay into the pony that said little, and give him a serious verbal, or maybe physical, beatdown.

'Stay calm......stay clam.' He thought.

"Hehehe.....don't call me little. My name is Razor, and I'll be joining you on this little trip." Razor said, "and don't worry on my lack of supplies. We griffons are key survivalists. Our entire home region is almost like the desert here so we know how to survive in it."

Razor smirked once and added, "Besides....makes it a challange."

When Cherry showed up, Razor knew this was going to be a rather long and mentally grating journy. Still, the fact that the ice cream serving pony was willing to test herself in this trek, even if she had the wrong idea about it, was admirable.

"Hey, if she wants to try then let her. Let the fledling soar on her own, as we griffons say.," Razor said, and feeling a bit mischevious jokingly added, "And if she drops dead during the trip I'll just eat her."

To add to the affect of his little joke, he looked at Cherry a moment as if he would a boar or even a small rabbit before he dived in for the kill. But the look didn't last long and he just chuckled when he was done. As if he would ever eat Cherry, one he didn't make a habit of eating something that could talk back to him in a language he could understand. Second, he would probably get a cavity if he ate her, she was just so hyper and happy he swore her blood was more sugar then liquid.

'Probably bleed gum drops or something.' Razor thought, laughing at the thought.
